I think i said it on fb - but congrats lily!! Yay for a gorgeous boy and more importantly, that everything is looking good.

Just picked up an Ergobaby 360 carrier with the infant insert on sale at Toys R us ... was a bit undecided but stood in line in front of a woman with her baby in the same model and she raved about it! Smile Not cheap though!!!

coffeenut · 16/09/2015 02:04

bee - I know what you mean about reaching 24 weeks!! I want to get to 30 - I think that's the point they are just putting on weight?

Also lily - I think the anticlimax is part of the hormonal trip. Everything is so up and down. You'll be euphoric about it all tomorrow Wink

Blackandwhitecat3 · 16/09/2015 07:20

coffee let's trade clothes. I'll send my summer maternity stuff, you send over your winter maternity stuff. Deal?

Blackandwhitecat3 · 16/09/2015 07:21

And congrats lily and congrats too coffee for reaching 24 weeks. That's me next week and I feel it's a real milestone.

Electrocute · 16/09/2015 09:14

I'm 24 weeks today :) It's starting to feel very real now. Ordered some baby things last night, bottles, sleepsuits, bibs etc as I have been putting off buying anything because it just felt too good to be true. I will relax more once I get to 31 weeks and anything past that as my daughter was born at 31 weeks exactly - not that you could tell now, she is one of the tallest in her nursery class!

lilyb84 · 17/09/2015 21:47

How's everyone doing? tiny I hope you're not reading this on holiday but if you are, hope you're having an amazing time!

I've been feeling rubbish the last two days but in a really indefinable way. Guessing I've got one of the bugs that's going round but am feeling really sick, dizzy and just overall wrong. Was back at work today but felt like I was going to pass out or throw up for most of the day!

Visiting family this weekend and picking up literally enough clothes for baby's first 6 month from my sister who's kindly kept everything of my nephew's. No idea where we're going to put it all but am very grateful!

BeeMyBaby · 20/09/2015 07:21

Lily I'm feeling really run down too, I've never felt like this is my previous two pregnancies - I've got a cold (extreme blocked nose) which is not shifting, day 9 so far, normally they only last 4 days before they ease, yesterday I woke up with the start of an eye infection ( probably related to the cold) and I also burnt my mouth the other day which started to cause extreme tooth ache from the gum getting irritated and starting to become infected. A bit of bonjela fixed it but normally it would not have been necessary. I take my vitamins every day, I eat A LOT of fortified cereal, and amongst the rubbish I eat manage to also wolf down my 5 a day. I am sleeping 8 hours a night?? (not straight through but good enough). No idea what else I can do to improve my overall health Confused

coffeenut · 21/09/2015 00:20

Bee & lily I'm also starting to feel run down. Having to take afternoon naps which is very unlike me (and I dont get the chance very often!). I think mine might be to do with being unable to sleep properly atm due to hip pain but also wondering if I need to take an iron supp. My vitamins don't contain any.

well done on reaching 24 weeks electrocute! How exciting that you are starting to buy some things!!

B&W great idea Grin ... Although with shipping costs from Aus to the UK, I could probably just buy you a new wardrobe!!! Wink

It's term hols here, our plans for today have been cancelled (other little playmates are sick) so I think I might even start to clean the kids wardrobes out to get ready to shift them into the same room!

BeeMyBaby · 21/09/2015 06:38

Coffee you'll have to tell me if those naps help. I'm pondering calling in sick one day this week to see if that helps my cold (now day 10) as my DDs will be in school so I'll be able to get proper rest. In November I'm going to use my annual leave to drop a day off my working week, but just need to slug along till I get there Sad

kep1979 · 21/09/2015 10:46

Hi all, sorry I've been awol, my app is still not working so FB is easier to keep up with. I'm excited as started building up my nappy stash, with some very pretty tots bots patterns. And also started eBay shopping for clothes..... need to rein myself in though else I'll end up with so many I will have to change her three times per day to make sure she wears them all!

I am VERY tired at the moment, sleeping is becoming very difficult as I get uncomfy in one position for too long, and then rolling over wakes me up, plus trying not to lie on my back or rhs, and then also need a wee. I suppose this is preparing me (and dh) for the fact that we are going to get broken sleep when she is here, but would be great to store some up now in advance. Consequently work is shattering - it is ultra busy anyway, and some other senior peeps in my team are leaving at the end of the year, so chaos is on the horizon.

I got a new credit card Grin that gives me airmiles, so am using that as an excuse to shop! Dh wants to buy her things so told me off yesterday - but then admitted he is scared to buy anything before she is here! Next big purchases are nursing chair (scouring eBay), car seat/base (going for new maxi cosi pebble plus and iSize base) and Snuzpod. And need to start stripping office so that can become temporary nursery until lofty conversion done next year. Of yes, and got to sort out architect too. Sooooo much going on!

Plus taking boys to London for the weekend to do natural History museum/Science museum (again).... bit worried all the walking will wear me out so may just find a nice coffee shop and take my Kindle. Anyone got any recs on other places to visit with a 9 and 11 year old - the little one wants to do the tower of London to see the crown jewels, although he is worried they will smell of old ladies!

And finally.... on countdown to V-day (24 weeks)... only 4 days to go Smile

tinyme135 · 21/09/2015 12:21

Hi all :) had a great holiday, was too hot for me though so stayed in the shade when i could. We got back yesterday early hours so I'm still recovering haha. Unfortunately we got back to some bad news. My OH grandad passed away while we was away so we're sorting out the funeral and everything else. OH is pff work for the rest of the week as it hasn't sunk in yet and he's still in shock. I'm at work trying to make sure he's fine when I can but it's hard to contact him.

I have my GTT tomorrow at half 8 and he's doing the inventory for the house so that will distract him. I got him looking up furniture and measuring the house so I know if I can get my nice dressing table in the bedroom haha.

As a first time mummy, do I get any more scans or is it the two I only get? I'm a bit clueless "/

tinyme135 · 21/09/2015 12:21

Oh forgot to add I'm 24+1 today :) its going so fast

kep1979 · 21/09/2015 12:43

Glad you had a good holiday, so sorry about OH's granddad Flowers.

Unfortunately that's your lot in terms of scans, unless the mw thinks you need a growth scan later one (if you are measuring significantly smaller or larger than the "average" growth curve). I always think it's a shame we don't get a later scan as standard, around 30ish weeks.

tinyme135 · 21/09/2015 14:24

Yeah I agree, just to have one to see if everything is fine. I went off in a strop last night cause I couldn't see my little man again till he's in my arms. I have a feeling that my MIL wants me to have a 4D scan as she keeps mentioning it and now with her dad passing and her mum being down I think its her way of picking herself up now. Secretly I hope she does want me to have one haha.

I have also said with his grandad passing he's in our little man and will make sure he's fine. I still feel like he will come early to help with everyone over christmas, cause everything else we have all predicted has been right (being a boy, conceiving on the day he got told the news, I also said his grandad will pass while we're away and he did) just all adds up haha. So if this little man keeps kicking and being grouchy we know his great grandad is telling him to be haha xD

coffeenut · 22/09/2015 09:24

Good luck with the GTT tiny. I have mine this weekend. And sorry to hear about your loss Sad but glad to hear about your hol.

Hooray for shopping kep! Sorry to hear you're exhausted too .. I've started on iron supps now and planning on folding a quilt under me tonight to see if that helps with the hips.

lilyb84 · 22/09/2015 12:51

Glad I'm not the only one who's knackered - haven't managed to get out of bed any earlier than 7.30 for weeks now so starting work much later than I like, but my body just doesn't seem to wake up for my alarm any more!

tiny I'm so sorry to hear about your OH's grandad, what horrible news to return to Sad But glad to hear you had a lovely holiday - hopefully you're feeling a bit more rested now.

I'm at King's College Hospital in London and we do get a third scan there at 36 weeks, to check growth. It'll be very brief, I've been told, and I imagine by that point you're pretty much just seeing shapes on a screen as the baby will be too big for the nicer images you get at 12 and 20 weeks! But I do feel lucky that it's part of their plan as I know it's unusual.

Visited my family at the weekend and my sister has given me ALL her nephew's clothes from the first year - lots of stuff he never even got round to wearing as she had so much. So very happy about that, and now need to start cracking on with all the other bits and pieces.

Good luck in London, kep - while the Tower is cool it's also the second busiest attraction in the city (after the London Eye) so it depends on how up for crowds you are, really! I used to work there and found it fascinating and there's loads of gory history that kids love. The jewels are by far the most yawn-worthy bit of the day though.

kep1979 · 22/09/2015 13:00

lily I bet I'll be gasping for wine and gin by the end of the weekend - the boys really want to do the tourist things, but I worked in the city for years so it's not so much a novelty for me.... especially with the crowds - I have a feeling I will be grouchy!

BeeMyBaby · 22/09/2015 16:22

Lily that's good news with the clothes! SIL has offered to give me Dnephews clothes if we have a boy Grin I don't mind at all if they have been used as they only wear each stage for 3 months so they all have loads of life left in them.

tinyme135 · 22/09/2015 16:29

We don't have anyone in the family who has just had a baby (I'm the first out of the brothers/sisters/grandchildren) and as it's the first everyone is going crazy with buying things. I could get use to this haha.

Looks like we will be moving out in the next two weeks, can't wait. I'm already looking up/stenciling patterns for the nursery. I'm an art fanatic!!! We got most of the furniture just need a desk, tv stand and all the little things. We got MIL and my nan buying our first few months food, which I'm not complaining about haha. The sooner we're in the house and I'm decorating the better. Can't wait to get my hands dirty.

Nurse said to me today that my bloods will be tested tomorrow and if I have diabetes they will phone me. Will that be the same day they test it and why couldn't they test it today I had it done early enough?

BeeMyBaby · 22/09/2015 17:06

Completely gutted, just had a letter from the doctor saying I need to have the GTT test as I had sugar in my urine. I'm hoping I'm not diabetic as I did eat an almighty amount of sugar before I 'produced' the sample, but I am definitely going to have to be careful from now. This is the day. bye bye my beloved chocolate and toffees and cakes Sad
The only positive is it means basically a day off work because it takes so long...

Elvi1 · 22/09/2015 21:23

That sucks bee! And sorry to hear about your oh gd passing tiny

Another tired one here. Think it's down to interrupted sleep more than anything - finding it hard to sleep on my side throughout the night and always wake up with back ache half way through and have to prop self up with pillows until pain eases.

Was a bit awkward this morning - was on a packed bus and no-one offered their seat (it's an express bus into Central london so doors don't open during a long stretch). I had my badge on and hoped someone would notice and offer. Someone (also standing) did start speaking up for me and said someone should offer seat which I appreciated, but also felt embarrassed so told her it was fine and squeezed through passengers to sit on dirty wet steps to the upper decks to the kind lady's loud protests - despite this, still no offer of seat so there I sat on step for remaining 40 mins. It's a tricky one - some people generally don't notice their surroundings - I'm not one of these people who thinks that everyone is deliberately keeping their head in their books and I've been quite offended in past when this has been suggested after I've noticed someone too late - but I'm sure there were probably one or two a-holes who probably thought 'well she can ask if she wants me to move!'. I always thought I would be more assertive and ask someone sitting in the priority seats if I can take their seat, but truth is I don't want to ask someone to move - would like someone to offer. I guess I'm going to have to learn to be more assertive Blush . It's way harder to ask than I thought!

lilyb84 · 22/09/2015 23:19

Elvi sorry you had a rubbish bus experience - I get an express bus too but currently going in to work a bit later because my body refuses to wake up before 7.30 so always get a seat. Which bus do you get?

I don't have a badge and have been insisting to everyone that I'd be fine asking for a seat if I needed one but in reality I'm not sure that's true! Sure I'd feel very differently if I was still getting the very busy 7.15 bus every morning...!

bee sorry to hear you've got to have the test but bether safe than sorry I guess? Fingest crossed it was just what you ate before giving your last blood sample...

lilyb84 · 22/09/2015 23:35

Fingest? Bether? My phone is having some serious autocorrect crisis at the mo...

coffeenut · 23/09/2015 06:07

Elvi that's awful!! I didn't catch public transport that often when pregnant in London (was within walking distance luckily of most things I needed to get to) but I asked for a seat every time I did! And I didn't feel bad about it. I also asked for a seat for other very visibly pregnant women when no-one would offer. It makes me so mad! Please ask for a seat next time - most men in particular are happy to give theirs up (I think most are in a world of their own on PT TBH) - just think of it as doing for your baby not for you, if that helps!

bee hopefully it was just the sugary stuff you ate. Fingers crossed for you and for you tiny.

I slept with an extra quilt folded under me last night and my hips were nowhere near as bad during the night!

hotcrossbun83 · 24/09/2015 08:35

Hi all

Haven't been posting since mumsnet logs me out every 2 mins, anyone else having that problem? drives me crazy.

Not much to report at my end, I have a lovely week off work with ds at nursery (more of a holiday than an actual holiday). Then next week going to Spain to stay with FiL which I'm sort of dreading - he wasn't very tolerant of ds crawling round last year so god knows what he'll make of the tantruming toddler! And no drinking :(

Hope you're all well x
