Good morning all, and welcome newbies! Hope everyone is feeling ok today. The sun is shining for a rare second here, so I think DH and I are going to go out for a walk and take a picnic.

Wow Gizzyboo that's amazing weight loss! Were you doing it in order to conceive or just generally?

GizzyBoo · 19/09/2015 08:31

Thanks Tiffany. I was just trying to be healthier. I was definitely not ttc. We were actually waiting for dh vasectomy referral Confused
#5 is the result of one night of madness the night dh got home after a 2 week work trip. I'd only been off my pill 2 weeks and we literally dtd once!

Daphnedolittle · 19/09/2015 08:44

Morning everyone!

Feeling a bit sorry for myself today. Got home yesterday and felt too ill for dinner (even beans on toast)
Went to bed at half 9 and slept so badly. Was up at 3 and 4 and 5, urgh!!

I haven't excercised in weeks. Anyone else completely had to stop their xcercise routine? I just don't feel up to it.Sad hopefully I can get back into it when/if I feel better.

Dorothea - it's quite interesting to hear about different birth options. Being a first timer I am completely oblivious to the pros and cons of the different options so it's all very interesting.

Bishboshbash · 19/09/2015 09:08

C section recovery was completely fine, I didn't need any extra painkillers other than paracetamol (although I was sent home with more) and I was up and walking fine after a few days. Not sure how easy it would be this time with a toddler in the mix haha!

PearlyFish · 19/09/2015 09:49

Welcome and congrats gizzy and blackgoat and any other newbies I've missed (brilliant chatty thread moves too quickly!)

ODog I really want to do an antenatal yoga class this pregnancy too (looking into getting a DVD for early stages as well).

I'll be requesting a very medicalised birth this time around (quite interested in elective CS now given the quick recoveries reported here!) I think that people tend to want the opposite of what they have the first time and I had a home birth for my first. Was a tricky labour due to bad positioning I think (total back labour, very confusing, no urge to push) and baby got stuck for ages at the pushing stage. Midwives a bit stern that I'd need to transfer to hospital and the ambulance crew turned up at my door while I was starkers climbing the stairs! Managed to birth at home in the end after an episiotomy, but didn't get all the cosy home birth tea and toast in bed as there'd been meconium in the waters and we had to spend the first night in hospital. A lot of the muck and (by that time) gross birth pool got left for poor DH to sort later as the midwives came with me.

PearlyFish · 19/09/2015 09:51

Woops, posted too soon! Anyway, I'd say go for it to second timers who had a straightforward first labour, as it sounds magical when it all goes right. But equally if you fancy one but can't for some reason, don't be too sad as they don't always go to plan!

royaldub · 19/09/2015 10:15

Hi ladies,
Can I join? I have been reading here past few weeks and finally got the courage to join and post!
so I am 26 EDD 14/05/16 and I am from Ireland
6 weeks today!
I have one ds already who is 6(well next Wednesday!) so I feel like I am starting all over again, we were kind of actively ttc(kinda if it happens it happens attitude!) didnt want the age gap to get even bigger, haven't told family or friends yet just some work colleagues as I am struggling with nausea
Looking forward to getting to know you all Smile

Southy84 · 19/09/2015 10:31

Hi grey sorry you've been feeling ill, snap with the waking up early its so frustrating isn't it!

Hi picolette thank you, When is your scan booked for?

Sorry things weren't exactly how you wanted with your ds odog and pearly hopefully this time will be different for you.

I'm not too bad thanks gizzy I just have the most painful boobs known to man!

That's good to know dorothea you haven't freaked me out at all :)

Morning tiffany sounds like you've got a lovely day planned, how are you feeling?

Hi to anyone else ive missed hope everyone has a lovely weekend x

Southy84 · 19/09/2015 10:32

Welcome royal :)

PearlyFish · 19/09/2015 10:42

Hi and congrats royal! Hope the nausea improves soon.

Thanks southy, hope you are feeling well apart from the (annoying but reassuring) sore boobs.

7 weeks today Smile

Mamama31 · 19/09/2015 11:11

Welcome newbies and Royal we are due date buddies! I'm 6 weeks today too :)

BeckleinDisguise · 19/09/2015 12:41

Welcome royal and black, I'm sure DS will be fine black, he will probably be quite protective over 'his' baby.

gizzy urgh! That doesn't sound pleasant! I'm also expecting a fairly negative reaction from a lot of people, probably because it wasn't planned though! I hadn't thought about weighing, I don't think they did it in my other pregnancies? I'm not worried about it though, I know I get huge! Large babies and lots of water. I don't actually know what I weigh, I won't have scales in my house! I'm definitely not having a home birth, I'm too nervous about things going wrong! DS1 and DD both had tricky births, my babies are very big and I'm not so they tend to get stuck. I had SPD last time as well which made birth difficult. Luckily for DD there were Paeds on standby and then in the room when she was born too. Def sticking with hospital! I'd really like a water birth though. Couldn't have it with DD though as there was menconium in my waters when they broke them. Your last birth sounds lovely and calm, as does living on a remote island! Where abouts are you? DH's family are from the Orkneys and we considered living up there, such a nice way of life.

Tiff sorry you're feeling invisible. That can happen a lot on MN and I only tend to post in friendly threads like this because of that. I'm sorry if I missed your comment the other day, I'm finding it difficult to keep up with this thread (I took notes today!). I'm also feeling a little weird at the moment. On Weds I felt quite rough eating but now I'm okay, and I think that's some of it. I just feel a bit empty? Or in Limbo? Not sure which. It doesn't feel real to me yet but DH has accepted it now and keeps saying stuff about 'when you get fatter' and 'when baby is here' but I'm still really worried it'll all go wrong.

mamama sounds like a lovely weekend! I'm going to a friend's for takeaway and cards this evening, offered to drive and collect the takeaways so that gets me out of drinking! No other plans though, I like my weekends chilled!

Poster there are definite benefits to induction, at least you know whe. Baby will be coming and can plan! I'm hoping for an early induction this time as my babies keep getting bigger (DD was 9lb 15oz) and I'm quite small (5'4" and size 8/10). Mind you, they promised me one after both boys too and still let me go well over with each pg. DD was induced at 40+12 in the end.

pearly that sounds like a traumatic birth, I'm not surprised you're opting for hospital this time!

Mamama31 · 19/09/2015 12:56

Beckle I know what you mean, I had nausea last couple of days but feel ok today. Just desperate to know all is well, but guess I'll find out next Monday at the scan and will just have to keep busy until then! Would love some very definite morning sickness lol how bad is that?!

Yes chilled wkends are the way to go, I had a nap last night from 7pm to 8pm then went to bed at half 11 and slept through until 10.20am....thats A LOT of sleep!!!!

GizzyBoo · 19/09/2015 13:09

Beckle we are in the Outer Hebrides. It's beautiful and a great place to raise children. Downside is kids leave home early to study. I have #1 (18) living away with his g/f and #2 (16) has just gone off to Glasgow to college!
I have big babies but it seems I shell them like peas Wink I'm 5'2" and my smallest was 9lb and largest 9lb7.

Any yay to chilled weekends. Dh is about to go to work and wee one is at his nannies until later. I think I need a nap Wink

PisforPeter · 19/09/2015 13:26

Got my BFP this morning, whoop!!!
Due 26th May, so excited!!
No really symptoms yet other than tender boobs.

GizzyBoo · 19/09/2015 13:53

Congrats PisforPeter

BrassMonkey84 · 19/09/2015 14:07

Hope you're all having a good weekend. Is waking up early a pregnancy thing then? Was awake at 7 thinking about work...

For now though DS is sleeping and DH gone food shopping. Happy days!

StormTr00per · 19/09/2015 14:56

Hi everyone.. again trying to catch up whilst DS is napping on me Smile

gizzy i am definitely considering a homebirth (I live in Dunfermline though) after a pretty horrible time in the hospital for first birth - provided i don't need to be induced again!

Horrible insomnia here too.. thankfully just up once last night - I'm used to a 6am start at least as that's when DS usually wakes up. Trying to keep as active as possible this time round, but struggled with bad SPD before and even found walking painful from about 20 weeks.. the joys!

Hope you are all having a relaxing weekend .. i just hope to be able to get a late afternoon nap!

GizzyBoo · 19/09/2015 15:20

I've had a lovely relaxing afternoon without #4 Hmm
#3 decided he wanted to change his hair from blue to red. It's a jolly good job I'm nice Wink
I can see me being in bed tonight with a hot chocolate in time for Doctor Who!

BeckleinDisguise · 19/09/2015 15:48

mamama I know it's normal for symptoms to fluctuate it's still a worry though isn't it?! I can't believe how loooooong I have to wait for my scan! I'll be 12+6! Trying to chill but that's easier said then done sometimes.

gizzzy children leaving home to study/work/live was one of the main reasons I was against moving to Orkney, even on the main part of the archipelago children can only study as far as A level and then have to go to the mainland. It sounds an ideal way of life though, I'd love it if I could keep my children close! You do have good sized babies! My smallest was 9lb 0.5 oz and the largest 9lb 15oz. Did yours get bigger with each pregnancy? I'm dreading an even bigger baby this time, I definitely did NOT shell mine like peas!

PisforPeter - yay!

BeckleinDisguise · 19/09/2015 15:59

I'm also trying to keep very active storm, my SPD wasn't debilitating last time but it did make walking difficult and getting in and out of cars or opening my legs really difficult! Unfortunately when DD was born all my pelvic ligaments got torn and haven't ever completely recovered so I'm not sure how they'll do this pg. I'm hoping that the amount of walking I do will have given me sting muscles to support that area.

ljjeffro · 19/09/2015 16:18

Hi. Can i join? I had a positive test this morning and i think I'm due towards the end of May. Im currently on a girls weekend in Marbella so i now have to come up with an excuse for not drinking! Im trying not to get too excited as i had a MMC back in February (it was detected at my 12 wk scan). Fingers crossed everything will be ok this time.

GizzyBoo · 19/09/2015 16:23

Funnily enough Beckle they've been 9lb, 9lb7, 9lb7.5 and 9lb7! That was at +2, +13, 37+2 and +8. God knows how big #3 would have been if I'd gone over like the others! I'm must just bake them to 9lb.7 and then evict them Grin

Spd is a bugger. I hope you escape it. I'm already struggling with my coccyx ad I broke it a few months ago and it's still painful to sit and relax it. I'm missing my lovely painkillers and ibuprofen gel!

GizzyBoo · 19/09/2015 16:25

Congrats ljjeffro will keep my fingers crossed for you x

Bejeena · 19/09/2015 18:03

Hope everyone is well and sickness is not too bad. I had a bad night last night could hardly eat and no energy, went to bed at 8:30 I was so exhausted!

The only thing that concerns me with giving birth this time is what if it happens when we don't have anyone to watch our son, like in the middle of the night and I have to go to hospital and do it all on my own. We live abroad so no family close although my parents will hopefully visit there is no guarantee baby will arrive when they are here. So I am quite keen on the idea of a home birth for this reason.
