Is there a Due in August 2007 Thread?

londonlou · 25/11/2006 09:37

I have finally got that positive after 6 years of TTC. I checked on a site that calculates due dates for IVF cycles and it gave me the due date of August 3rd. Is there not a thread created yet for August 2007?

redtent - yeah eggs - I couldn't sleep for thinking about bacon and eggs last night. Of course now I have them in the fridge can't face them...

Work is a really hard one. I'm lucky as I can say no to work but then I don;t get paid and if I say no too much they'll stop using me. And I don't get maternity pay. We should be moving abroad sometime soon and that makes it easier - everywhere else I can afford not to work except bloody London.

I've got my 7 week (well 6 1/2 really )scan tomorrow and I'm quite excited. I should be anxious but feel so dreadful it should be good news...

peanuthead · 03/01/2007 14:42

Hi Gilll
your ny sounds as great as mine! nothing quite like puking in the new year is there? that bug sounds like a monster - have avoided it so far luckily..
Your post reminds me how lucky i am to be able to take some time out of work (although I coldnt' afford to stop altogether) I know what you mean about the socialising thing - I get on really well with all (well most of) my colleagues and it's usually fun and I like going in. Plus I had an exteneded period abroad where I couldnt' get work and knew noone and got really down.
And dh has the same tendency to make me do all cooking/cleaning which is so boring!
I've got an exam on mon and too tired/queasy to revise...but obviously happy to procrastinate on here!

Catalepticdru · 03/01/2007 14:47

I would certainly like to look at part-time work, the problem is although employers are obliged to consider reducing your hours, if will adversely affect the business then they won't. Plus my company takes lean management to the extreme - I'm already short staffed in the lab as it is due to workload and so far my pleas for more staff have been ignored, despite the huge overtime bill every month! I actually think they would not bother to get anyone in to cover my maternity leave and just let everyone struggle on with out. I have a feeling that tomorrow I'm due for an arse kicking over something that hasn't been done becaue of a comment my boss made on the phone to me today when I rang him to tell him I would be back tomorrow. But if he does, well my reponse will be what the f* do you expect? Part of the reason I was getting the migraines was because I had been run into the ground with over work!!!!
End of rant.

Catalepticdru · 03/01/2007 14:52

Ooh, also one of the things which has made me think that I couldn't go part time is the money we'd save on child care would make up for my loss in salary - I currently earn more than dh, though my hubby is getting a promotion this month which at least will make him equal (he's about £2000 per year less than me). But we'll work it out nearer the time. I'll only get SMP because my company's maternity policy just abides by the government regulations. So hubby and I are saving like mad to make up for the fall in my income while I'm on ML.

redtent · 03/01/2007 15:03

It's great to hear of people's diff approaches to work with kids..... my old boss obviously needs WAY WAY better HR management to make flexibility/ part time etc more possibe without it meaning the same amount of workload in less hours sigh !!

so do we have any stats yet? should we start some?? name age edd dp/h dc no location etc??

GillL · 03/01/2007 15:21

I'm lucky that my boss let me go from working shifts between 7am and 8pm to working 9 - 5. This at least means that I get to spend a couple of hours with dd every evening. I'm also lucky that my mum looks after dd for free. When she had an operation and had 3 months off we had to pay a childminder. She got more of my money than I did. She did work 10 hours a day though and was great with dd so I can't really complain.

Good luck with your exam peanuthead. Is it for a degree/Diploma? I'm glad I got mine out of the way (with the Open University) before dd came along. She runs me ragged so I'm sure I would have given up.

MrsTom · 03/01/2007 15:28

Hi all,

Hope you don't mind me joining the chat as I'm usually a lurker!

I'm 6 weeks gone (will be 7 weeks tomorrow) with our first - due 25 August. Hubby and I have been trying since our wedding in May06 and are soooo chuffed

Only down side is we have to wait until week 14 for our first scan (NHS rules in our area apparently) which seems AGES away - especially when we are waiting until after the first scan to tell people. I feel like I am bursting.

Anyone else have to wait this long??

loler · 03/01/2007 15:40

Hello MrsTom - you'll become addicted now!

I'm really lucky as my work is very flexible - I do 3 x 6hour days which means I don't have rush to pick up/drop off at nursery. Nursery is £750 a month though - we were looking forward to september when dd goes to school so we would feel flush! Spose this one could be seen as well timed though.

I really hated the first maternity leave - again didn't know anyone and got really bored. ds was campletely different - went to loads of different (cheap and free) groups and really made an effort to get out rather be trapped in a house with a rampaging toddler - made some great friends and hated going back to work. Would love to be a SAHM but can't get dh to agree!

PS Redtent - are you called after the book?

conkertree · 03/01/2007 15:49

redtent - there are stats lower down the page - copy and paste and add yours on so we can see all the new people together.

loler · 03/01/2007 16:02

I've found it (mainly to get me out of cleaning the house for another few minutes!)

Loler I think that is the trick. I know of a lot of people who said that they got bored, but a lot of this is their own fault. Why be stuck in the house all day? I have made some wonderful new friends since DD was born and I honestly don't have time to get fat and bored. Its all how you manage it.

I went to see the consultant for an early pregnancy scan and I think I'm more worried than I was before. I am 8 weeks but he says that sac and the baby are still really small only 3.3mm when he said it should be around 6. He said I might have conceived later than I thought but I don't know. I go back in two weeks. Do you think this is anything to be worried about?

My old mumsnet username had been outed... removing my ability to have fun on here without feeling spied on so I changed

Makes you sound very interesting!! Loved the book - was some good inspiration for names in it too!

I know edd's arenot a acurate science but I thought this might help as a small summery of when we are due... tho ik it migh change after scans etc etc.

Hi Mrs Tom, I'm waiting til 12 weeks for a first scan. My friend has had to wait until 20 weeks for her first scan for both babies, its the protocol at her local hospital. Seems like a long time to wait. You could always book a private scan if you really can't wait, also if you want a nuchal fold test you need to book that between 11 and 13 weeks.

redtent · 03/01/2007 16:57

loler - ha ha ha interesting. rubs chin

Won't surprise you to know both my son's names are in the book too then!!

does everyone else find their tummy expands through the day? My non maternity stuff fits when I get dressed and then I end up with buttons undone by 2-3pm .. am waiting for summer season mat collections to come out b4 buying too much!!

MrsTom · 03/01/2007 17:05

It does seem such a long time to wait boobooma. I know without even mentioning it to him that Mr Tom won't be sold on the private scan idea - we're just about to move house and cash is a little tight. I guess I'll just have to be patient although there is no way on this earth I will be able to keep it a secret for the next 7 weeks

I've also had a missed call from the midwife this afternoon - I think she's trying to get hold of me to arrange to come round and have a chat. Also had some standard blood/wee tests at the docs this morning so hopefully they'll all come back okay. It finally feels like things are more 'real' now that I am 'logged in the system/being processed' so to speak.

treacletart · 03/01/2007 17:31

Hi all - I saw a consultant today and it seems I'm going to have to inject my growing tummy with heparin for the rest of the pregnancy full confusing saga here I also have to have a viability scan on Friday. I know everyone else cant wait for their scans but because my last one died at 10 weeks I'm a little freaked at having an earlier one. Also have been horribly tired and sick but haven't been so bad today - so of course I'm panicing about that too! Plus DS has developed a nasty vomitty bug. Not a good day really - roll on Big Brother and Despearte Housewives I could do with some serious escapism!

Paula I'm pretty sure its not uncommon to be a bit smaller than expected and I've read quite a few similar threads on here. Try not to panic and I hope the next 2 weeks don't go too slowly for you.

paulaplumpbottom · 03/01/2007 17:42

Loler, I had a miscarriage in September and just wanted to see if everything was ok.

Thanks TreacleTart, I hope its ok to and definatly agree with you on the Desperate Housewives front.

loler · 03/01/2007 18:10

Hope you both have good news scans - the begining and end parts are really worrying anyway without any added stresses.

pinkranger · 03/01/2007 18:36

Hi eveyone
Well, wnet for my scan today and Yipeeeee, we have a little bean with a Heartbeat, dated excatly 7 weeks today so my caculations were correct!!

The lady who scaned us was great and like you strechmarks, i creid and snoted everywhere, i know that with my missed baby died a 6+5 so already i have gone pass that bit, still going to have antorre scan at around 9-10 weeks i think for reasurrance (for me) - They couldnt see where the bleed had come from as eveything seems normal!

i know i will still worry but at least i have come this far!

One quick question - is anyone still getting belly aches that come and go, feel a bit like period aches and wind??

Thank you all
