I have finally got that positive after 6 years of TTC. I checked on a site that calculates due dates for IVF cycles and it gave me the due date of August 3rd. Is there not a thread created yet for August 2007?

MW visit went well, got loads of info. IN fact almost too much! Got loads of things to fill in for various bits and pieces like freebies and such but I have to admit, finding it a bit overwhelming... so many things to read and fill out!

Migraine started getting bad again and went to lie down. Then remembered left car on drive coz it needed washing. Suddenly lepaed out of bed, got all car wash gear and washed the car - she's all nice and shiny after been covered in mud for the past few week. Migraine had almost subsided but I can feel it trying to come back...

I've been putting quite a bit of weight on, not because I've been eating loads (I've been feeling too nauseous) but because I've been so sedentary lately. Must start doing some exercise.

Oh, and I've discover a new love of soup....

Welcome the new guys! Happy new year to all!
V useful to have a GP and a pilot - though like Feedme I don't think we will be going anywhere exotic for a while !

I'm going to fess up to being a doc too: I'm an anaesthetist - though don't specialise in obstetrics - DH does that.

Am feeling more yucky than I did 2 weeks ago - def the evenings are worse tho. At least that is after work is finished. So awful to go back to work today.

I would be feeling jealous of you Babymad - I have put ON 6 lbs since week 4 , but I know how awful you must of been feeling so I don't IFYKWIM!

Good luck for all of those with booking appointments and scans!

Happy new year everyone
hope yours were better than mine...
developed my first pregnancy migraine about 6pm on nyeve - managed to walk up the hill to watch the fireworks and try and smile a bit for dh but new years day was a total washout - never had such a bad one before - everytime i moved my head i had dry heaves and head throbbing. Perhaps I should ahve got up and washed teh car! :0 Missed a big family dinner (though think dh was quite glad as he could lie around watching =dvds and stroking my back intermittently)I don't think i can face another one - bit anxious about getting one - it was soo bad. Stil not well today, queasy and headachey. I did tell myself when I got my bfp I wasn't going to complain abotu any symptoms but christ..
so glad i'm not teh only person feeling like utter shit.
and not even losing weight - had a horror moment in the sales changing rooms - surely too early at 6 1/2 weeks to be getting fat!! Must be all the ginget biscuits. Oh i want to go to the gym

Got my 7 week scan on thurs - fingers crossed for me.

boobooma · 02/01/2007 18:39

Welcome to the newbies and happy new year to all. I too am feeling shite, all day nausea and i've got a cold, can't dose myself up with lemsips, plus ds 5am waking continues. Joy to all.

boobooma · 02/01/2007 18:41

On a more positive note, ds is one tomorrow and its been the best year ever. This time last year I was running up and down the stairs at the hospital trying to get labour going. It worked.

paulaplumpbottom · 02/01/2007 23:23

I am 8 weeks tommorow and have booked myself in for a private scan tommorow just for peace of mind. I feel pretty excited about it now. Thought I wouldn't feel that way with this being my second pregnancy.

Thanks for the travelling advice, I think we'll leave it another month. I suppose I should squeaze in a visit home to, its also long haul. I suppose I better enjoy it wit one child while I can.

hormonalwreck · 02/01/2007 23:48

It's so good to hear that ther are others putting on weight. I normally go to the gym alot but have been too scared, have been a couple of times but barely broke a sweat! Now most of my clothes are tight, I'm 9 weeks, as you say peanuthead surely too early to be baby?

Went looking for maternity jeans in the sale. Tried on a few things but they're all enormous on me and I'm not ready to look like that yet. By the way can anyone recommend any maternity clothes which are slightly less cutesey and floral? I went to mothercare and babies r us and some of the tops are nice but the jeans are shocking. I live in jeans but the idea of having a huge flap of fabric over my bump scares me to death. I ended up buying a pair of low cut hipster stretch jeans which should fit under my bump (hopefully they wont fall down!) Is it possible to remain fashionable and pg?

Uki · 03/01/2007 02:25

Hi All

Welcome Nicknack, Tang and Hersetta

WOW we have a gp, a pilot and an anthetist. What a bunch of technical and educated women you are.

What else do we have out there????

I'm an artist-mosaics/oil painter and teacher of the same and run an art retreat.

I always joke I could have beeen a dr as I had 6 years of artschool and uni, and I love medical things, always getting in trouble from my gp for doing my own research
and always say i'd love to have been a pilot but dp loves to point out that I can't do maths.

Wow can't believe theres a due in sept. thread, feels more real now. I'm 8 weeks today and have scan on Monday.

Have also been really tired and sometimes nauseous, as well as have diaherrea, yuck.

Uki · 03/01/2007 02:27

might need to be able to spell anaesthetist to be one, sorry gg

Catalepticdru · 03/01/2007 10:17

Well I'm back to work tomorrow
Not looking forward to it tbh.
I'm supposed to be avoiding stress but I don't think they'll be much hope for that!
If it starts getting bad then I'll get signed off sick again. I've got Bump's health to think about as well as my own.
Have already been thinking that when I've had baby I'll start looking for another job.

loler · 03/01/2007 10:25

I've got really bad all day sickness. Went to Tesco yesterday and bumped into a friend who asked if I was hungover - if only!

Got the week off work and to myself (kids at nursery) - not looking forward to going back. I'm a H&S safety inspector and got a load of visits to stinking factories booked next week. It's difficult to look professional with a sick bag! How do you doctors cope when you're meant to be looking after the sick

redtent · 03/01/2007 10:52

Hi all,

welcome to the new peeps!!

I saw the m/w yesterday and was 'booked in' she couldn't however get blood out of me with the green needle (standard sized) and so I am popping into the surgery on Friday for them to try with a black needle (smaller one!!)- I have always had tempremental veins so I was not surprised.

M/s has been awful - well not in the morning..more at 1am but with 24/7 nausea still. I discovered nux Vomica- in my helios homeopathy kit. That seems to be helping a little...

Dh is back at work today and I am feeling guilty for just plopping the boys in front of cbeebies but tbh I just need to cope till the sicky bit passes.

Hope everyone is doing ok- esp those going back to work in the last few/next few days.

paulaplumpbottom · 03/01/2007 11:06

Hormonal wreck there are lots of places to go for maternity clothes. My personal fav. is formes, there clothes are amazing and Isabella Oliver is also very good. Don't knock maternity jeans, I was also weary of them the first time around but after DD was born I hated having to give them up, they are soooooo comfy, You'll love them, trust me.

I am a housewife and stay at home mommy.

feedmenow · 03/01/2007 11:44

Hi everyone. First day back at work today, yippee!!! (Can you detect the large dose of sarcasm when reading a typed message??)
I am the Office Manager for the "Family Business" (to be said in the style of Frank Butcher please!)
Interestingly enough, my dad has a habit of buying me cream cakes from the snack van in the morning...some mornings I've had to hide it immediately but other mornings it goes down really well. So I can't stomach ginger biscuits but I can manage a cream cake [grin[

Catalepticdru · 03/01/2007 12:29

I envy you Paula, not because I think SAHMs get it easy - they don't! But because I do worry than when I do go back to work, all the things I might miss out on with baby...
Oh, well can always hope that hubby gets another promotion!!!

I amazed at how many other professional women there are here! I myself am a Lab Manager for a Waste Management company.

peanuthead · 03/01/2007 13:05

Glad I'm not alone in feeling fat already - dh says i'm like a horse, need constant exercising or I get overweight and uptight! I've decided not to bother going to the gym first trimester as we worked so hard for this - but after 15 years of exercise it#s really hard to stop!
Although not that hard - too queasy and tired really. Just went and stocked up in sainsburys before the nausea sets in - all the foods I never eat - crumpets and meat pies and tuc biscuits (didn't even know you could still get them) and no fruit - the thought of broccoli...
Does the quesiness get worse as you go thru the first tri? I'm 6 1/2 weeks and last 2 days have been bad... I'm hoping it stays this level.
Re jobs I'm a freelance tv producer in news but I think I'm taking the rest of the first tri off - shift work esp nights proabably not good for miscarriages. I'm also a trainee herbalist - which is not as wishywashy as it sounds - all science and evidence based. Don't normally go for homeopathy but going to get some nux vom tomorrow - i'll try anything! And sea bands..

peanuthead · 03/01/2007 13:09

oh yeah, re maternity clothes. I daren't get any yet (though need somethign to hide growing gut - and it is a gut not a bump!!)but I noticed that all the non-sale stuff ie the stuff which will be fashionable all year are thosekind of loose smocky, empire line tops. Really nice ones about and really cheap ones too in all high street shops...and dresses. SO when (fingers crossed) we're all huge in june we'll be able to get nice non maternity stuff! Oh Apart from trousers. Yeah i can see jeans being a problem..

feedmenow · 03/01/2007 13:35

I'm relying on getting hand-me-downs from SIL due in Feb. I just hope the summer isn't hot or theres my plan out the window!

paulaplumpbottom · 03/01/2007 13:49

Catalepticdru, You have a while to think about all of your work options. I am very lucky that I am able to stay home without any financial restraints, but lots of women are happy in their work to. You just have to figure out what you can afford and what would best suit you. Maybe you could work part time instead of full time? You probably have more options than you think.

hormonalwreck · 03/01/2007 13:56

Thanks for the clothes advice. I'm just really looking forward to looking pg, not just fat!!!

Sorry to hear that some of you are still ill, I'm beginning to feel a bit better, tho having to force myself to down a glass of milk everyday!

It's interesting to hear there so many of us are proffesionals. I'm already in 2 minds about going back to work after. I can take up to a year off but if I do go back, it can be part time but will def involve nightstopping abroad. Don't know if I want to do that and miss the liitle ones early years..... Plenty of time to think about it. Back to the grindstone tomorrow, only a 2 day week, shouldn't be too bad.

conkertree · 03/01/2007 14:01

hi everyone - happy new year - really sorry to hear about the m/cs. Hello to the newbies.

our christmas and new year were good but veyr tired at ny too - we told our friends and family and everyone was really pleased - think our parents were a bit shell shocked when it came to purple rabbit and me telling them at the same time.

scan is booked for 17th Jan so really looking forward to that. Cant decide whether to tell work beforehand and get the time off, or not tell them and just take a half day so I can enjoy it, and if anything did go wrong - wouldnt have to rush back.

Re jobs - I am a solicitor.

redtent · 03/01/2007 14:05

hormonalwreck- I think you are wise to not make any decisions about work once your dc is born.

For various reasons I was pressured to make decisions that were wrong for me with ds1. I worked 6 months and found it incredibly and spent alot of the time fighting depression. In my profession (think religious career) women's issues such as maternity, breastfeeding and school holiday childcare are only just hitting the agenda. I was one of the first in my area to fall pg and have maternity... and lets just say the institution handled it so badly I still have doubts about ever being on the pay role again. I am currently voluntary- when I have free time from 2 under 3 and a husband and 2 goldfish!!

Tesco delivered just now- this pregnancy is SO different again from the others (last 2 were diff) I seem to crave meat, eggs and savoury things. I am hoping that means less weight gain- yeah right!!!!

paulaplumpbottom · 03/01/2007 14:12

How often would you have to stay overnight Hormonalwreck?

GillL · 03/01/2007 14:34

Hello again and Happy New Year. My New Year wasn't too good. Dd was sick on New Year's eve (although she was back to normal within a couple of hours) and then I was sick New Year's day. I have been feeling nauseous but I think it was a bug that made me sick. I had to take yesterday off work as I was so weak and spent most of the day in bed. Still managed to get to sleep at 9.30 last night. Luckily dh is being really supportive and doing most things with dd. I hate not being able to play with her and put her to bed (actually I don't hate putting her to bed - she's a pain going to sleep). I've just got no energy and can't wait for the 2nd trimester so I can feel good again.

I couldn't wait to get back to work after having dd. I hate being at home all the time. I don't know anyone where I live and I was on maternity leave throughout the summer and I hate being hot so I ended up staying at home in front of the fan and got really bored. I'd love to work part time but we just can't afford it. It's not that my job is that good - I'm a Team Leader for a corporate IT helpdesk - but I like having something to think about other than doing housework and looking after children. Besides, dh would expect me to do all the housework and cooking if I was at home full time even though he knows how much hard work it is looking after children.

Got my booking in appointment on 19th Jan when I'll be 9 weeks. I've got the same midwife as last time - she's really nice. Can't wait for the first scan.
