Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 37th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 36th grads fred is here

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 52nd outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates.

News from my thigh would be my guess?

I never knew you needed a steriliser for things like dummies etc!! Where do you learn this stuff??

oneyorkshirepud · 31/08/2015 20:56

Ha ha it always amuses that mums are positively encouraged to get their babies to suck on their bleeding/cracked/milk encrusted/notshoweredforaweek nipple but OMG you have GOT to sterilise everything else! (I'm not being thick here am I? Please tell me you don't have to sterilise your nips in theicrowave!?) We are not 'planning' on using bottles/a dummy to begin with (all good plans etc), can I not just wash a teething ring up? Still have literally no idea about looking after a baby, gah

ThursdayLastWeek · 31/08/2015 21:01

Though DS never took a dummy, it wasnt because we didn't try. I sterilised the one we got once, straight out of the box but just tipping vv hot water would have the same effect.

In all honesty most mums are happy to pick a dummy off the floor and give it back to their child - just not when they're brand new Smile

gaggiagirl · 31/08/2015 21:18

pud this time round I'll just shove everything in my brand new smeg dishwasher from the smeg outlet. I think its different when its your precious first born, then you get wise to it. I sterilised stuff up to 12 months with DD. Haaaaaaa no chance this time!

oneyorkshirepud · 31/08/2015 21:22

Ha ha nice boast Ga.

Wondering at what point I can use the 'too clean hypothesis' as a reason to not sterilise things....

MollyBloomYes · 31/08/2015 21:23

You can get sterilising wipes from tommee tippee which are great for sterilising teether as well as Dummies when out and about, but honestly once out of brand newborn stage I relaxed a lot! Especially when they start sitting and reaching and put all kinds of crap in their mouths before you can get to them! I used old school Milton which was pretty handy as oncce the tablets dissolved the solution is good for 24 hours but it does smell very bleachy and tricky to keep track of which bottles went in at what time I imagine (DS switched to bottles at 6 months so a bit more predictable with feeds and I was able to do a job lot overnight) I'd be tempted to go for an electric one this time having seen my friend's in action, the Milton wore the markings off the bottle! Mam Dummies are great, they come in a little travel box which is useful in itself but also has a little reservoir to put water in and microwave to sterilise. DS only had a dummy for a couple of months (despite best efforts, I was desperate to avoid thumb sucking) and these ones were the only ones he tolerated.

purplewhale · 31/08/2015 21:31

Haha yes it was news from my thigh...sorry Smile

I didn't know about sterilising wipes but I did think in an emergency you could just use boiling water. I'm not sure dishwashers get the water hot enough to sterilise but happy to be corrected

Disappointing quiche for tea here and no food in the house meant tonight's snack choice is Pringles dipped in Mayo - surprisingly nice too Smile

Thursday you'd have to walk me through your chicken Caesar salad before I could pass judgement Smile

deeplybaffled · 31/08/2015 22:33

Hi all - no, no news here, and offspring allegedly due Thursday - eek. However, m/w seemed to feel nothing was imminent when i saw her last Friday, ( and suggested an appointment in 2 weeks, which I renegotiated to 1 week!) so we shall see. Could be neck and neck with purple at this rate......

gaggiagirl · 31/08/2015 22:46

purple dishwashers probably dont get hot enough, you're right. I think they should be ok for teethers though. I'm reusing my tommee tippee microwave steriliser for bottles if i use them later on.

NFMLDAW (news from my last day at work) my sister is coming to babysit tomorrow!!!!! Yay she saved the day. She's a mumsnetter so I expected nothing less!

gaggiagirl · 31/08/2015 22:48

deeply I think you will go over by a few days. This is based on nothing!

oneyorkshirepud · 31/08/2015 22:51

Good news Ga!

Ooh a birth race for Deeply and Purple!

Back to work tomorrow, we shall see what crazyness that brings 12 weeks to go.

Right, I'm off to bed to cuddle up with Hugh. Goodnight Wink

deeplybaffled · 31/08/2015 23:06

ga - hoping that you are right! Just need to keep everything tightly crossed to avoid baby arriving in next hour and hence being the absolute youngest in school year, poor soul :)
After that, a few days for some intensive epi-noing and then...maybe i could have a baby? Have this vague idea that baby can't come till i feel ready and a bit more confident that I'll be able to look after it ...which won't be before 2017 at this rate of progress

CarrotPuff · 01/09/2015 06:35

DS keeps waking up at fucking 5am. This is on top if him waking up several times a night, arrgh!

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/09/2015 06:57

Good luck to those going back to school tomorrow!

So are microwave sterilisers any good? I've been offered a tommee tippee one but have sort of said no as the women in my preggo yoga class weren't very positive about microwave ones...

I might need a hooyah. Im not to worry about reduced movements this early am I (22+3 today)? Baby was very very active on Friday/Saturday, felt a fair bit on Sunday but then yesterday and last night, virtually nothing. He usually gets quite active in the evening/night times and he literally didn't move so I can't help but worry...

oneyorkshirepud · 01/09/2015 07:10

Hi Looking, Xmas pud's movement patterns continue to be a bit sporadic. He/she would always move after food but it seems to be more random than that now. I am at the stage though where if I am worried I can drink some cold juice and lie on my left and feel wiggles. Have you given that a try? Allow for changes in baby's position too as movements can feel quite different after that. I think 24 weeks is when you are supposed to pay attention to patterns of movement but I may be wrong....

Jcandy · 01/09/2015 07:37

Morning all Smile

Hope you enjoy your last day ga sounds like a great sister Smile

Hopefully not too long left for you deeply I'm sure you will just suddenly feel ready but I'm not sure anyone can be truly prepared!

Got my 25 week midwife appointment today. Might finally see my midwife again as she's been on long term sick but thinks she's back now, not seen her since booking in.

Looking I was going to ask my midwife today about movements and when you should be concerned. But as pud said it does feel different depending on their position

jellypi3 · 01/09/2015 07:51

Yay for last day and great sister ga :)

So is it a race to the finish line for purple and deeply? We have got lots of babies on their way soon!

Had a bad nights sleep last night even with the dream genii so am grouchy. Fun times.

CarrotPuff · 01/09/2015 07:55

Yay for your sister Ga!

Looking do you mean he hasn't moved all day or just not in the evening? I wouldn't worry, it's still early days. Maybe try what pud suggested? Or pop a balloon next to your belly...

I didn't have a steriliser. The handful of times that I did express I just boiled the pump and bottles in a big pot of water. Not very convenient, but as I said, it was only a handful of times. Ditto dummies. It never even crossed my mind to sterilise teethers or any bowls/spoons, etc. But then I never had pfb syndrome Wink

I think in the old days they used to tell to wash your breasts every time before feeding. At least that's what my mum did. But now they say that baby needs your body bacteria.

ThursdayLastWeek · 01/09/2015 08:04

Morning all

I really hope you enjoy your last day at work ga! Good sister, coming to the rescue.

looking I'm afraid I don't remember any advice about reduced movements - if in doubt call a pro though.

carrot DS woke up at 4.45 yesterday, luckily it's not normal but man did I feel rough. Tiredness really makes me feel more sick. The little bugger has decided to drop his nap too, and can has finally figured out how to climb out of his cot

We have a man coming to rip out our storage heaters and put new ones in in our sitting room today...so DS and I are scarpering into town!

purplewhale · 01/09/2015 08:27

ga hurray for sisters, happy last day

My sil was given microwave and electric steriliser, she gave us the latter. I've never used either but both seem pretty straightforward. I doubt she uses either now as nephew eats off the floor

Hospital today for last growth scan and consultant appt. I probably should have questions about what happens next week but can't think of anything.
Slightly parping it that it's a week to go. you'll get fed up of my countdown

I'm glad I know when the end is, it could go on another 4 weeks. But it's also weird that I know when it's all going to happen and when his birthday will be

purplewhale · 01/09/2015 08:28

It's after 26 weeks you worry about movements. Before that they can just turn inwards and you don't feel them. But if you are worried, phone your midwife

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/09/2015 09:04

Thanks all, yep tried the cold juice/lying on side, even gave my belly a proper wiggle which has worked in the past. He's so stubborn though and seems to move when he wants, ignores all the tricks that are supposed to work! Don't think it helps that I'm really bunged up and haven't had a poo since my arse rain episode on Sat night! Belly feels really full, solid and generally uncomfortable so for all I know he's moving and I can't feel it. Saw my midwife Friday and she said not to worry until 24 weeks so will focus on that and hopefully he will move more today. carrot he didn't move barely at all all day yesterday - I've noticed he's more active in the evenings/night time but sometimes he kicks loads in the day too, as long as I feel him I don't mind when!

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/09/2015 09:05

Note all the conflicting advice by the way about when to start the monitoring! Some people say 28, purple you say 26 and my midwife says 24!

jellypi3 · 01/09/2015 09:06

purple i'm not bored of updates :) we're all cheering you on! You're another one who I bet feels like you've been pg forever!

honeysucklejasmine · 01/09/2015 09:50

7 days Purple! Oh my word. Exciting!
