Hey everyone... It all seems to gone a little bit quiet over here.

How is everyone feeling? D Day is starting to get awfully close now Grin is everyone getting excited or nervous? I seem to sway between the two. Got our first birth class this Saturday so I'm sure I'll be feeling much more nervous after that! I'm preparing myself for some gruesome videos. Haha!

Anyone heard our OhHoly is doing? I hope she's ok.

cth1982 · 06/10/2015 10:42

Hey Ladies - it seems crazy doesn't it? When I hit 30 weeks that will probably be the OMG moment - we bought our pram on Saturday (thankfully with delivery in December!) and the furniture guys called me this morning to book in delivery of cot and dresser set!

I have my first antenatal class next Wednesday (just going with NHS ones as DH has zero interest so paying out for NCT seems a waste) hopefully it is ok!

Only strange thing so far - went to my 28 week appointment last week and Midwife crossed out their mobile number off my notes and said if I had any issues I had to call the hospital pregnancy unit - forgive me for my ignorance but isn't that what the Midwifes are there for? I would feel awful calling the hospital with a silly question...

NoArmaniNoPunani · 07/10/2015 06:10

That is odd, I've been given numbers for all the midwives in the unit.

We start our hypnobirthing course tonight. I'm not sure if it'll be a bit too hippy dippy for me but I'll try anything that might help. We aren't bothering with NCT either, just doing a free NHS class in a few weeks.

roseformyrose · 07/10/2015 13:21

Hi Armani, I'm starting hypnobirthing tonight too! I'm a bit scared because some of the book that goes with the course is a bit, um, unscientific to say the least, but I'm trying to approach it with an open mind! It really helped my friend with her labour, and I like the idea of being as relaxed as possible whatever happens.

Hope your class goes well.

CuppaSarah · 07/10/2015 13:32

Let us know how the hypnobirthing classes go! I have totally neglected by book and CDs!

I have the 28 week appointment today and have forgotten my sample bottle yet again. Hoping boots on the way will sell them as there's only so many time I can turn up weeless without looking daft.

I'm not going to do any classes this time, I did the NHS one last time and it was lovely. But they don't offer it second time and to be honest I feel pretty confident about labour for now. Obviously that will change i'm sure.

How's everyone finding work? I'm finding it better now than I have done at any other point. But that's because I'm in an office now and loving all the little busy work and basic admin junk my job now comprises of. Plus the people are lovely.

cth1982 · 07/10/2015 13:36

work is ok at the moment - I work in an office in an EA/Office Manager role so apart from Budget Week madness it is pretty low key - organising a Strategy Retreat and the Company Christmas Do (which both take place after I pop off on Maternity Leave) so that is filling the time! They are looking for my cover in November which leaves 2 weeks handover time at best - hopefully that will be enough! How is everybody else coping?

Back ache is starting to set in a bit now...

sherbertlemon17 · 07/10/2015 17:25

Ditto the back ache cth. I'm going to be on my feet all day right up until maternity leave at 38 weeks, so definitely needing to sit and relax in the evenings now.

Just had my whooping cough and flu jabs this afternoon. 1 in each arm! Good thing I don't mind needles.

CuppaSarah · 07/10/2015 17:46

You guys have a heck of a lot going on at work! Sherbert is there no chance of doing lighter duties towards the end? Or are you pretty confident you can handle it?

I was having dreadful back ache and needed a hot water bottle every night. It's magically gone now which is lovely.

Had my 28 week bloods done and baby boy is already head down. DD went breech, so seeing he's head down makes me very happy. Obviously he could turn any day and probably does regularly. There was a breast feeding coach at the appointment too, it was nice to talk about the problems I has in the first couple weeks last time. She said she's very confident it won't happen again yay.

How is everyone planning on feeding? I'm hoping to breast feed again, CBA to sterilise bottles. But if I need to go to formula or mixed feeding I'm ok with that, last time I was dead against it.

sherbertlemon17 · 07/10/2015 22:50

Unfortunately not Cuppa. I either teach or I don't! Lol! No chairs or benches out on the field to sit on; which is especially fun in the wind and the rain Hmm I've got a pretty good department though, so I know that they will let me double up classes with them if I need to.

Planning to breast feed too. I'm definitely keeping an open mind though. If it doesn't work for us then I'm going to try to not be so hard on myself. We've got some bottles and a steriliser just in case. Planning on expressing at some point too so that DH can be involved so I know the bottles will get used.

cth1982 · 08/10/2015 09:00

I had the flu jab on Monday - GP recommended I wait a week for Whooping Cough as I had never had the flu jab before and in case I felt a bit poorly after so have that booked in for next Friday - at this point with the bloods you need to have taken I am over anything to do with needles!

I am hoping to breastfeed but I am a bit worried my boobs are not really getting ready for it - they grew a cup size in the first trimester and have basically been the same since. I did buy a breast pump on sale the other week though so fingers crossed!

Tangoandcreditcards · 08/10/2015 09:27

Hi, I've got my 28w appt tomorrow, actually looking forward to it, feels like ages since i saw anyone. I've got an ante-natal 'meeting' tonight with the HV with other parents-to-be - they didn't do anything like that in my last area when i had DS, so might be interesting. Not doing any classes, did a 3hr NHS ante natal class last time, which was almost the same length as my entire labour, so mostly not that relevant! I thought about hypnobirthing but I feel like I know what I'm in for (at least I hope I do...).

You've reminded me i need to book jabs too.

I had a double mastectomy 8 years ago, so definitely on the bottles. With DS we did ready mix for the first couple of months which kept the faff levels low when sleep deprived (if not the cost), and I've got a prefect prep machine and all the bottles KNOWN TO MAN as I kept panicking DS 'didn't like' the bottles so bought millions of the things until DP banned me.

My work is sedentary but I've a long commute and it's pretty busy at the moment. I'm on hols next week (hoorah) and then working until the 20th Nov (33 wks), I'd planned originally to work to 38 weeks last time but with the commute and DS duties as well, I just need to finish sooner. There is no way I could work on my feet (SPD) - hats off to you sherbert!

Tangoandcreditcards · 08/10/2015 09:32

cuppa you've also reminded me about the time I forgot my sample bottle so peed in a spare pot I had in my bag from my packed lunch, it had a screw lid but leaked all over my handbag and I had to get a new wallet because mine was covered in pee.

I now pick one up every time I'm at the docs and keep it in the drawer by the front door with my maternity notes.

CuppaSarah · 08/10/2015 18:20

Sherbert you are brave! But staying so active so late you'll probably pop back after having your baby.

Cth bust size isn't at all important for feeding. In fact my sil who is very large busted found it a hindrance to feeding.

Tango if we move to bottles or mixed feeding I'm so glad to have someone who knows about it here! Formula seems a bit complex and alien to me when they're small. I don't blaim you going earlier either. A difficult commute is horrible enough when you aren't pregnant and there's so many more jumpers(Sad) ice, leaves and general delays in the winter months.

I forgot about my jabs. I better get them sorted. Dh, DD and myself keep bouncing bugs between us. Nothing too yucky yet, but I'll wait till we're all in better health. I was sick this morning and only DD was awake. She rubbed my back the whole time and kept asking if I was alright and if I needed help flushing the toilet. As shes only just started to talk properly it made me melt so much.

CuppaSarah · 08/10/2015 18:25

Forgot to say DD can't decide if her or dh will be cutting the cordGrin. Every time I yelp with my back she gets really excited and asks if the babies coming. Even checking between my legs. I've been showing her calm home birth videos on YouTube, but I'm not sure if she or I will want her there when the time comes. Although she loves watching the birth videos. She even gets a bit emotional when the babies are born. Any other home birthers considering older siblings there?

Tangoandcreditcards · 09/10/2015 10:25

Ha! cuppa - happy to be of service if i can help, although I think it's all a bit trial-and-error however you go about it. Have recollections of weeping into my steraliser, then panicking about germy tears... and secretly ordering 10 more different bottles online every time DS posseted. (he threw up every feed until he was 1, so quite glad I stopped that eventually). Hopefully I can bypass that stress this time. First timers: if milk is going in - you are WINING!

Also planning homebirth, but hoping whilst DS is asleep Grin or at least at some point when MIL is on hand to distract him. Think he's a little little for cord-cutting (he'll be 22mo we haven't got much chat yet), the best I get at the moment is the odd stroke on the tummy, which quickly turns to poking if I look away! Someone told me it was good for us not to be holding the baby when they were introduced, and let the toddler introduce themselves. Honestly though, I'm not doing much planning: what will be, will be.

MW this morning, 28cm bump, 140 heart beat, etc. All on track!

Going to order M&S Christmas dinner today, no 'proper' cooking for me! Keep it nice and easy.

Tangoandcreditcards · 09/10/2015 11:51

cuppa sorry to hear you're so sicky, DS has had a stinker the last 3 weeks or so as well (bronchiolitis I think). He's getting better now, but we haven't been getting much sleep, had a few nauseous periods myself creeping in the evenings.

I'm off to the seaside for a week tomorrow. Long walks on the beach and fish and chips (for the boys, I'm going to snuggle under a duvet munching rennie Grin)

sherbertlemon17 · 09/10/2015 17:23

How did your antenatal meeting go Tango? Glad your midwife appointment went well Smile I had my 31 week appointment today, all good here too. Although, she did say that the baby's head was really low and wondered if I was having trouble walking??!!

How are you feeling now Cuppa?

CuppaSarah · 09/10/2015 18:18

Thank you both for worrying, but honestly I'm absolutely fine we all are! they're just minor icks, just don't want to factor in jabs ontop when i'm not 100% seems like asking for trouble.

I'm sort of hoping dd will be asleep for labour too, but have 3 different people lined up as childcare/sit with dd if she wants to be there. Since it's Christmas I don't want anyone not having a little tipple or changing plans to work around maybes.

Glad your ds is getting better Tango, poor little thing must feel grotty as anything. Loving the M+S xmas dinner and glad baby 2 is looking perfect!

Ooo a low head already Sherbert, sounds like you could go before your due date! That would be a lovely surprise.

Tangoandcreditcards · 09/10/2015 19:21

Glad to hear it's not so bad cuppa, it all seems like much more of a drag when you're pushing 30 weeks pregnant though, eh?

Sounds like your little one is seeking a way out sherbert - must be all that time on your feet, easy now! Feet up this weekend I reckon!

I hear you cuppa we don't have anyone really nearby and with Christmas dispersal and drinking if DC2 doesn't come whilst MIL is staying over xmas we might have a bit of a logistical headache if I have to go to hospital. Got a 32 week scan to check on low-lying placenta, so will firm up plans once I know if I can definitely do home birth.

Rest easy all. I am supposed to be packing for week away but am having a little sit down whilst pretending i'm putting DS to bed (he's been asleep 10 mins Grin)

sherbertlemon17 · 09/10/2015 20:36

Ahhhh don't say that! We're not ready yet! Haha!

CuppaSarah · 10/10/2015 09:50

Don't worry Sherbert, from what I've read on the pregnancy board. If a midwife says you won't go to your due date. You will be induced 4 weeks overdue and be pregnant a full year Wink.

Tango that sounds like a plan. No point worrying till your scan in a couple weeks. Hopefully your placenta will have gotten the hint and moved nice and high. I think most people will happily watch a child while you have the baby.

Got my sil coming over with my nephews this morning. DD is hyped, but I'm a bit worried. Bil will probably come along which he never used to do and there just isn't quite the adult sitting space for 4 adults with two toddlers and a baby rolling around! Although a bit of chaos isn't a bad thing every now and then is it? Tango you have hit the nail on the head everything is a bit of an effort at nearly 30 weeks!!

Dj02blue · 12/10/2015 05:33

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining you! I have 2 boys aged 13 & 8 and I'm currently 28+3 with baby number 3, a girlSmile due 01/01/16. I'm quite nervous due to the age gap and the fact my previous labours were induced and I didn't have a great time! I'm currently looking at some sort of hypno course to see if that helps. Also very torn about when to go on mat leave. I hope everyone is well and enjoying pregnancy X

roseformyrose · 12/10/2015 16:21

Hi DJ, you're due the exact same day as me!

I only have the experience of a single hypno class to go on so far (got the second one on Wednesday) but I do think it's going to be good for keeping me as relaxed as possible. I have a lot of risks/complications with my pregnancy so have been fretting quite a lot about labour, and they're teaching us a few techniques that will hopefully help.

What is your job? I'm a scientist and mostly sit in front of a computer all day so am planning to work until 2 weeks before due date, but I know for others it's much more difficult.

cth1982 · 13/10/2015 10:04

Hi Ladies,

So lots of fun yesterday - Baby Jelly Belly decided he or she couldn't be bothered to move at all yesterday morning - so it was a trip up to the hospital and a five hour wait to be checked out - thankfully all was ok and yesterday evening the little bean didn't stop bouncing around!

Just over 11 weeks to go...(unless I worry myself into a giant mess before then!)

sherbertlemon17 · 13/10/2015 17:43

Hey Dj, congrats and welcome. Just like rose says, I suppose it depends what job you do and how you're feeling. I'm a PE teacher but feel pretty good so the plan is to go to 38 weeks. 5 1/2 weeks and counting! Haha!

What a naughty baby cth! Glad everything's OK though. Can't believe you had to wait 5 hours Shock
