Welcome Yvie. As you have found out this thread moves very fast.

AngeG · 24/11/2006 22:14

Sexonlegs - thanks for being concerned for me sorry it took so long for me to report back. Hope your feeling better soon.

AngeG · 24/11/2006 22:22

Yvie - re tests. Here (Portsmouth) you have generally have one scan at 16wks, which they call a dating scan. I paid privately for the nuchal scan and only had a 20wk scan cos of problems during my 1st pg. Here they also offer you the triple test which is usually done at about 16wks. I had this but only for the Spina bifida element because the blood test for Downs syndrome is less accurate than the nuchal scan.

In answer then to your query if you had a nuchal scan at 12 wks and are having an anomoly scan at about 20wks (which checks all parts of the baby including checking for spina bifida)there probably wouldn't be a need for the triple/quadruple test.

Sorry that was a bit waffly hope it helps.

AngeG · 24/11/2006 22:23

Sorry for all mu messages. I've finally caught up. Hope I haven't missed anyone out - really sorry if I have.

maveta · 25/11/2006 08:28

Morning girls, well today I have a load of house cleaning, cooking, lunch with mil and then the housewarming so just popping in to say hi as I´d better get moving soon...uuurgh.
Had so many dreams last night, all different and all very vivid and emotional! Strange.. hope you are all well and have a lovely weekend.
Yvie I only had one test at 12weeks as well, nuchal whatsit, and nothing else.. they said they aren´t doing the 15 week one anymore if everything looks good on the first scan and first test. But I was worried too until I found out it was pretty normal now! Great to have another first timer on here!
SOL - yay Scan buddy!

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2006 08:40

morning!

CFK! So jealous! Enjoy your spa. How lovely!

CD Sorry you had such a bad night Hope today is better.

1b3 - thanks, I think 'pregnancy brain' is a very good term! Not to mention good excuse for all the random behaviour!

Maveta - Happy housewarming!

I'm 20wks today! Feels like a birthday! I know it's not that major, but after all the complications I wasn't sure if i'd ever get here so very special to think I'm at the top of the mountain and just got to get down the other side

liath · 25/11/2006 09:04

Happy 20 weeks, eca, ! It does feel like a big milestone, I think.

Have a fabulous weekend, CK. Am very jealous! I'll maybe ask DH for a spa voucher for my birthday - more romantic than an ergo sling which was my other bright idea!

mammyjo · 25/11/2006 09:31

Morning all. Nothing much to say today. Have been in work for the last two days so its taken me an age to catch up with this thread!!

CFK, have a fab weekend, enjoy the relaxation!

Maveta, happy housewarming!!

Welcome Yvie, enjoy the madhouse!

Congrats to all who have had scans recently. Pesha, hope all will be well with your blue bean. I dont know the sex, but reckon its blue for me too. Dont know why though!

Have a good day everyone.

sallycinnamon · 25/11/2006 10:13

Oh my goodness this thread is so quick to move I can't keep up! Congratulations Yvie and Zazas- that's lovely news.
I'm definitely feeling kicking now. Seems a lot stronger than it did with dd at this stage. My biggest problem at the moment is my emotions- some days I'm so tearful. Poor dh just treads around me so carefully, I think he's anxious as I had PND before and doesn't want a repeat of that- neither do I!
1 more problem.... errr I think I have varicose veins in my you know where. I've felt a heavy feeling for about a week now and I was reading a thread on MN the other day that described it exactly. Oh god the glamour of pregnancy! Anyway enough of revolting problems. Hope everyone has a good day, I have to take dd to a party at the local soft play. I hate these places they're always full of big kids pushing the little ones around. Well they better not step on dd today cos I'm pregnant and dangerous! xx

maveta · 25/11/2006 11:03

Thanks for the housewarming wishes! Just popping in to check up on you all while my tortilla is cooking, I always feel a little tense when cooking them so have to force myself away from the stove or I spend about 30mins with my nose 3 inches from the top of it looking for signs of overcooking or burning!
Have made a lovely yoghurt cake which has turned out a lovely golden colour which I hardly ever acheive AND have managed the dusting while it was all going on so well on my way...
DAMMIT just turned my tortilla and it´s collapsed in the middle.. oh poo on it all.
back to it... x x x

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2006 11:23

Have a great housewarming Maveta.

I now have 5 babygrows,2 hats,2 pairs of mitts,a natural sponge and a pushchair, carrycot and bouncy chair thing.

runnyhabbit · 25/11/2006 14:59

Afternoon ladies!

Glad to hear about all the "hamburgers" - does that mean the rest of us have got "sausages"?

SallyC-think you might have described how I've been feeling. Not all the time, but def relate to the "heavy" feeling.
I still haven't heard anything from the physio about an appt for SPD treatment, and in the past few days, it seems to have got a lot worse. Made a lovely clicking noise this morning as I got out of the shower this morning. Nice.

Boss has been asking me when I'm thinking of finishing work. I've been thinking either a week or two before due date (job is not at all stressful, and only work in the mornings) the look on his face was a picture. Think he's worried what will happen if I go early He's asked me to think of a definate date. I thought he was planning on the early side, but as he pointed out, I'm halfway through already, and time will fly once Christmas is over.

Ds is "helping" dh fit handsfree kit in his new van, so I'm going to put my feet up with a cup of tea.

Have lovely weekend all.
x

20+4

runnyhabbit · 25/11/2006 15:07

CaptainDippy · 25/11/2006 16:45

Ha! Ha! "Hamburgers" and "Sausages" - didn't think of that one, runny - LOL!! (Dreaming up fantastic names for the next thread now!!

Have had a lovely a/n with DH, going to pick girlies up soon, hope they have had a lovely time too!

emmymummy · 25/11/2006 16:50

My sympathies to all of you suffering with SPD. Touch wood, so far I've not had it, but have just read an article on it so I understand and it sounds horrendous. Does it automatically disappear once the baby is born? Does it make giving birth even more painful?

Dd had her Christmas fair at her school today and she was in the choir singing Away in a Manger. I actually started blubbing . I blame the hormones.

emmymummy · 25/11/2006 17:03

If you want a giggle read this . PMSL at some of the comments.

runnyhabbit · 25/11/2006 22:22

I pmsl at the link emmymummy

It has made me think though, what is the best method of hair removal Shaving there seems to make it very itchy at the mo, so think I might have to invest in some immac. Or go and see my mums beautician friend for a wax [painful emoticon here] Last time I was waxed was for our honeymoon three years ago, and even though it hurt, it was an instant pain, and didn't last.

btw - did anyone watch x-factor tonight? Thought Leona was absolutley outstanding. Hairs on the back of my neck when she sang the ballad.

WestCountryLass · 25/11/2006 22:33

I use hair removal cream. I did have a wax when I was 36 weeks in both previous pregnancies but doubt ill have the time or inclination this time.

eca · 25/11/2006 22:44

Hadn't really thought about the whole hair-removal issue! Reading that thread has just opened up a whole new arena. Definately NOT going to be doing any waxing. WCL- how brave are you doing it for 2 pregnancies!! I think that pregnancy brings enough discomfort and pain without adding my own!

Might do cream, but really not sure if I can be bothered! I'm sure they've seen it all before.
