Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

Olihan · 23/11/2006 22:51

Dee, I am so of your 17 nights, I daren't even work that out or I may actually cry! You go for the lamping, bloody power crazed SHO's.

I did at the small horse comment. Every time someone asks how long I've got and I say 5 weeks they look at me like I'm slightly insane and then invariably say 'is there only one in there?' or something equally witty.

Thanks for the hugs though, can't even get those from dh easily anymore, between my bump and his beer belly(!) it's a feat of olympic proportions and bloody uncomfortable tbh!

dublindee · 23/11/2006 22:52

If it works then do it is what I say.
I'd pay any amount of money to go before 10th December.

castlesintheair · 23/11/2006 22:56

Olihan, not sure if you can get it at Boots. Holland & Barrett or any other chemist possibly? Or you can try Ainsworths on-line.

Don't forget there is meant to be a spot on your foot that if pressed can help bring on labour, so I'm told. Ask a reflexologist?

dublindee · 23/11/2006 22:57

Why is it people feel they can comment on the size of your bump? I had 2 people in work who would make comments to me about it being "huge" or me starting to resemble a "whale" and it was really hurtful. I'm big anyway when not pregnant but felt really conscious of bump this time round as much bigger than first (and I'm 2 stone lighter so it's really noticable).
Family aren't excluded either - My sis takes great pleasure in telling me horror stories about people who were told they were only having one baby and then having twins/triplets in the delivery room. I nearly strangled her last time she told me one of these so she knows better now.... I think!

dublindee · 23/11/2006 23:03

night night peeps. gonna try get more that 2 hours uninterrupted sleep...

No-one's allowed have any babies tonight k? 'Else me and Oli will hop on ya and squish ya!

zzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzz zzzzzzz zzzzz

Olihan · 23/11/2006 23:06

Yep, Dee, even people I know well, including my family are at it. I saw my sister for the first time since the start of Sept a couple of weeks ago and before she's even said hello it was 'Oh my God, you're MASSIVE!'. Then my mum came down last weekend and I haven't seen her for a couple of months either and her first comment, again even before 'hello' was 'how many have you got in there?' Ha ha bloody ha, my sense of humour over the size of my bump disappeared about the same time as my control over my pelvic floor.

Even last week, when I saw all my antenatal friends from when I had ds, the majority of the comments were 'oh my god, look at you!' Admittedly I was vastly bigger than the friend who was due on Saturday but this is my 3rd and only her 2nd in the same amount of time so it's not that bad.

Ooh, I'm a right moaning minnie tonight, sorry folks .

annaspanner · 23/11/2006 23:11

No news from Lucy yet, I'm afraid the last text I got was yesterday. I'll post as soon as I hear something.

Good luck tmw Eli!

Elibean · 23/11/2006 23:12

(((Olihan))) wish I could think of something helpful, other than to hope you go into labour earlier than you think you might. My mother managed to get me to come two weeks early by pushing her car in the snow...not sure its to be recommended... Anyway, I would have been spitting after that 'consultation' - any chance of a different doctor next time??

Thanks all for the luck - also logged on to see if any news from Lucy! Do have bags packed, dd asleep in bed, person looking after her sleeping on sofa ready for very early start....and house reasonably tidy after mad day of plumbing disasters.

But as for an early night...Castles, you know me better than that... If I can't sleep for excitement and nerves, I'll be back on here looking for insomniacs! Take care all - no falls while I'm gone, ok?!

Olihan · 23/11/2006 23:25

Hi Eli, was expecting you to be tucked up in bed but then I remembered the nerves that kept me awake the night before dd's induction. Nerves + itching must = sleepless Elibean!

Might try pushing the car if all else fails. My cousin went into labour at 37 weeks and she swears it was because she was lugging boxes of ceramic floor tiles around. I wonder if B&Q give you anything if you go into labour whilst in there?

The 'doctors' at the antenatal clinic seem to change with the wind, I think they're mostly SHOs on rotation, I've never seen the same one twice so I probably would see a different one next time. I have a feeling that unless you are a particularly complex case you don't see actual OBs or consultants, just the more junior ones. Which is fine if they listened and made an effort to answer questions that were actually asked, rather than making assumptions.

I really need to go to bed but I know this is going to play on my mind all night and I won't actually get any sleep until the early hours so if anyone's around to chat, I promise I'll cheer up a bit!

Baconbaps · 24/11/2006 00:35

Heh, I really can't keep up with this thread! I just wanted to say thank you to the people who were advising me earlier today about buying stuff online. I am planning to and even have stuff in various online shopping baskets but for some reason am too scared to press the 'checkout' button! Not been able to settle on a pushchair either which is driving me insane. I'm not good with too many choices. Many's the time DD1 has had to pick out a packet of pork chops for me because I can't decide which ones to have!

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow Eli. A baby! Tomorrow!! Imagine!

Sorry to hear about your crappy visit today Olihan and hope you won't have to wait too much longer to meet LO. I'm measuring just right now after measuring big for a few weeks but am overweight anyway and everything feels like such an effort now. Even having a bath wears me out! But then my work is really going to start when the bab's here so I don't know which is harder to cope with! I'm v lucky that my DDs aren't toddlers now and help out a lot. It sounds like you're doing a grand job!

Elibean · 24/11/2006 05:48

Oli, your maths is good - unfortunately - I slept from midnight till 1am, then from about 3am till 5am. Should have come looking for you in between I suppose there are some advantages to being a complicated case ('rare bird' my OB called me - ) if it means avoiding tired, bored SHOs. I really, really hope you get a nice one next time and have had some sleep in the meantime - lugging around a very large bump on no rest is no fun. xxx

BB, shopping online is the best - just about all my Xmas shopping, and most of the stuff for Bump: done without doing more than lift a finger or two...

Very horrid bp this morning, no doubts now. God I'm all jittery! Wahey, baby, here we come...[nervous emoticon] (actually, we could really do with a scared/anxious one of those, no?}

Elibean · 24/11/2006 05:49

Got a very sore throat this morning, hope I don't give dd's cold to Bump. Wonder if gargling with something counts as drinking or not??

BaileysMilkshake · 24/11/2006 08:06

I'm sure Eli will be in hispital now - and we're all thinkning of her some a little more thank others.

Oli - my specialist was like your doctor - treated more like a number than a name, just got lots to do so whizzing through patients rather than actually listening to them. That's why I never bothered going yesterday.

For bringing labour on my SLI swears it was lavendar that got her going this time. Boots do a muscle soak for PG women too - so it might ease your aches as well as bring you on?? Worth a try no? Thinking of you (()).

Am up and moving early today rahter than languishing in bed try to convince DD she;d like an hour cuddling with mummy as the water pipes in the area are being flushed through today and I had to have a wash etc before 8am. Only to come down and clear any washing up and read the letter again to realise it's before 8.30am - oh well I'm up now. DD on the other hand was awake in the night, not that she kept me awake other than to ask for a cuddle a couple of times, but as such she is still in the land of nod

Olihan · 24/11/2006 09:10

Thanks BB and VM, it does help coming on here and being able to moan to people who actually understand how I'm feeling, dh tries hard but bless him, he doesn't really get it!

I had a chat with my step mum who's a retired mw at 2am (she's in Singapore so mid morning fer her!) and she reassured me a lot. I'm going to phone my team mw today and ask her about what will happen if I go too late and baby carries on at the size it is. 9lbs+ I can cope with, 10lbs+ is terrifying! DSM seemed to think I ought to be scanned again in a couple of weeks and then again at 41 weeks if nothing's happened, just to keep a check on its potential size.

So, feeling better this morning, despite only 4 hrs sleep - ds decided to wake up at 6:15 when dh got up, normally I get to doze off again until 7:30 but typically, not this morning. Ah well, will just have to decide whether MN or sleep is more important when they go down for their nap later!

Can't stop thinking about Eli, hope she sends Mr Eli on to the PC to update us all later, don't want to have to wait until Monday or Tuesday for the details! I wonder if she's in theatre yet?

BaileysMilkshake · 24/11/2006 09:17

My moan for the day is that DH confessed last night he doesnt realy want his mum to come and stay with us (from next weekend when I am 39 wks) - but neither does he want me to have a homebirth. And since I either want to have bump at home to be near DD, or DD at home with someone she knows - he can't have it both ways! I mean does he actually think I like the idea of having his mum to stay and commenting on every aspect of our daily lives - might be alright for SIL - but not for us!

satinshoes · 24/11/2006 09:35

Sounds a bit rough Milkshake - nothing like making decisions!!! Go for the homebirth with MIl as she'll be able to leave sooner

BaileysMilkshake · 24/11/2006 09:57

Oh good grief NO SS!

Cannot stand to think of MIL actually being anywhere near me when I am in labour, especially in my house where I could not eascape or have her thrown out .......although it would give me an excuse to verbally bash her to her face, and blame it on the pain .......but no.

Someone suggested we set a time limit for her to stay after I come home with baby........of 5 minutes to pack her bags

And my lovely MW said she would happily discharge me after straight from the labour ward within 2 hours if everything was okay - so I am not worried aout that.

Just wish my mum was still here as she lived over the other side of the city and culd have got to us within 15 minutes by cab

satinshoes · 24/11/2006 10:01

ah, milkshake. see your point. in that case keep her away as long as poss

Beaker123 · 24/11/2006 12:02

I miss a day and have so much to catch up on! Eli - good luck for today. I know you're there already and won't see but hope it all goes well.

I did loads yesterday. Made lots of meals and froze them. I also packed my bag! I did tons of cleaning and even used Dettol and that made me think of everyone here. Made mince pies, too, for dh. We're having a night away tonight which will be the last time I guess for many years. We're staying in the Lake District though clearly all I'll be doing is eating and sleeping!

ELM · 24/11/2006 12:24

Hi everyone, Great news on the c section Magnolia, Hope it all goes well Elibean!

WHINGE WARNING!
Had a routine hosp check-up and they kept me in for 5 hours waiting for results(til 8pm). My resting pulse rate was 142 bpm so an ECG on me, and blood tests, and then made me sit in the waiting room and wait for results.... I have to go back in tomorrow, Monday AND Tuesday..and the hospital is 45 minutes away...they have also told me neo-natal is full, so if they do have to do anything I might have to be transferred to hospitals even further away

I know that they are doing what is best for both me and the baby... but this is so STRESSFUL!!!!

Sorry, only been on the thread five minutes, and already having a major whinge!!
Talking about preparing for Christmas.. have just ordered 15 bottles of wine from Sunday Times Wine Club for £39.99 (£2.67 a bottle) so that I can watch friends/relatives drink it

babypowder · 24/11/2006 13:07

ELM, I fully intend to indulge in at least a glass of wine over the festive season - haven't touched a drop since April and I'm ready for a large glass of red now! (Having read the BF threads about alcohol and breastmilk makes me feel even better!)
Wonder how things are going for Eli - hope we hear something soon.
For those of you who have frozen loads of meals, what did you make? I'm normally a real foodie and love baking and cooking, but I can't even think what to make for tea tonighr let alone for the freezer!

judemum · 24/11/2006 13:22

Hi all- gosh also can't keep up, but good luck to Eli- wonder if she's had it yet??! Can';t believe she was up so late!

Beaker- have a great time away tonight- not sure where you live, but its a bit drizzly up here at the moment- still you can hopefully laze around and not care about the weather!

Had 37 week appointment this morning and all fine- baby seems to be all feet and arse -his bum sticks out a mile. Got quite a lot done this morning before my appointment - went mad with the Dettol and cleaned down moses basket and pram and did loads of laundry and then collapsed in bed for an hour.

judemum · 24/11/2006 13:28

PS.

DS1 has chickenpox. Excellent.

Beaker123 · 24/11/2006 13:55

Judemum - your poor DS - how old is he? Hope he isn't too miserable with it.

We're just outside Harrogate and it's not the best weather today here. Still we're just gonna take things easy and not do much of anything which ought to be good!

dublindee · 24/11/2006 14:12

Hi gang!
Am ashamed so many of you have been wirking your guts out today washing and cooking and cleaning. I've played games with DS, sang songs and read books and watched Playhouse Disney!

Now that DS is down for his nap what do I do? Come on the PC of course!!!!

Oh well. I'd better make the most of the pregnancy excuse while I still can I suppose

Had a horrific night's sleep last night but am ironically getting used to it so I don't feel quite so zonked today. Bump is VERY VERY low tho and mighty uncomfy.
