Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

spinasnowflake · 18/12/2006 11:47

Being 39 weeks pg, I wake up every morning feeling like I about to do the same.

MardyBum · 18/12/2006 11:48

Congratulations to Anna! Beautiful name.

spinasnowflake · 18/12/2006 11:50

Must have this baby this week.
When I agreed(accepted the fact!) that I'll be spending a week with ILs(including BIL and his girlfriend) that I'd have a baby to go and spend one-to-one time with in a differant room. Looks like I'll be having a lot of naps next week

MardyBum · 18/12/2006 11:53

Would be awful to be in labour on Christmas Day. Suppose I am lucky in that my dd is not quite 2 and a half, so we could just lie to her and tell her Christmas is actually on, say, the 28th .

Indith · 18/12/2006 11:57

Lol at Mardy.

I'm booked for a home birth, would feel awful having to call out the MW on Christmas day! When I saw her last week she booked me in for a home visit this Thurs and told me she hoped to see me sooner rather than later!

northernmama · 18/12/2006 15:46

Feel the same way today ladies! Contractions every 15 minutes for 2 - 3 hours, walk the bloody stairs sideways for 2 of those hours, lie down cause I'm exhausted and away they go!!!! It's like being teased mercilessly by the cutest boy in school!!!!!!

Up all night again last night - unfortunately DD1 sick with croup and this am a fever of 39 degrees C. Hopefully we'll all get a nap this afternoon.

DH came home from his trip and lo and behold no baby, so he felt very smug about it. Not being vry helpful at the moment -- i.e. went off to work at the regular time even though everyone had been up all night. Says he'll come home early but tht means little to me as I'm ready to cry already this morning (it's only 8:45 am here)....

northernmama · 18/12/2006 15:49

Mardy, I think that if I were overdue at this point I'd have lost my mind... the idea of going overdue makes me want to crawl into bed and cry until it floats!!!!!

I am 39 +3 and can't stand it anymore!!! When I go to my OBS on Wed. she's stripping those membranes or I'm not leaving her office.

I WANT THIS BABY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Baconbaps · 18/12/2006 17:45

I'm 4 days overdue and fed up but trying to make the most of it at the same time. I was so convinced the bab would be early!

So unless I have it this week they've told me to ring the hospital on Christmas Eve (when I will be 40+10) at 2pm and they will give me a time to go in and be induced. So it could arrive on Christmas Day!

Congrats to all with new arrivals. I'm wondering if there is a baby inside me at all now!!

Carameli · 18/12/2006 18:31

congrats to other new mums here
Anna, you gave birth at the same moment as me. I also found out that my mum gave birth to me on a Fri at 1820, spooky:-)

thinking of all you other guys waiting, hope its not too long for you.

MardyBum · 18/12/2006 19:11

NM - sorry to hear your dd1 is ill. Mine was ill last week, and I was so worried that the baby would arrive while she was so poorly. Also found I could hardly cope with a sick child while so pg, ended up in tears more than once.

Here's hoping that all of us still waiting have our babies soon.

TheOlihantheIvy · 18/12/2006 19:52

Congratulations Anna, beautiful name, what's 3.7kgs in English? 8lbs ish? Glad to hear she's contented, sounds like you need to recover fom that epic birth a bit!

Thanks for all the sympathy, although tbh, I think dh needs it more than me - he's definitely getting the worst of it, at a time he really doesn't need it. I just can't stop myself. Still feeling really on edge and snappy, I think just because it's all so up in the air. Having been to 41 weeks and then 42 weeks I know there's no real chance of this one being early, or even on time. I'm not bothered whether it arrives before christmas, I'm more stressed that it'll arrive on ds's b'day which is New Year's Eve. Sod's Law and all that!

Mardy, we've got the same thinking about 'altering' dates if necessary. DS isn't gping to know it's his b'day until he wakes up and I'm not in labour!! Otherwise it'll be a bit late. Thank goodness they're young enough to be fooled .

Spina, haven't got around to booking any acupuncture, from what I read they won't do anything that will actively help to encourage labour until after my due date but I may try after Christmas. I'm a bit in two minds because I don't want to force things along and then have a nightmare labour because my body isn't really ready. AAAARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!! I'm going round in circles at the moment. Do you think the last weeks of pregnancy do actually make you lose your marbles?

lennied · 18/12/2006 19:53

It's so nice to see some many familiar names still posting on here, and so many new ones too. There was an army due in December wasn't there!

Am still waiting here. Had some awful pains today - like a stitch in my left side, doubled me over. And have felt 'periody' for a week or so. Baby is so low that am convinced it is only sheer will that is holding it in there now. But despite all of this, still pregnant. Think I'll go 2 weeks over by the look of things.

Good luck to all of you who are waiting.

babypowder · 18/12/2006 20:51

NM, I have a really painful hip as well, and my physio has said that it's actually the SPD causing the pain and has put me on crutches. They're horrible but they really help to keep me mobile.

Only 2 days to go until my CS! The hospital tried to change my date today, and me being all emotional and hormonal accepted it ... until DH stepped in and we're back on for Wednesday . I'm so relieved. I get through every day by counting down to the section - I really can't take much more of the pain!

Think I'd better repack my hospital bag ...

weirdbird · 18/12/2006 21:58

Hi all,

Congratulations to those who have had there beautiful babies, most

Sadly I am still pg and fastly approaching D Day and thinking its gonna be Xmas isnt it!

Another one with ill child, she finished school on friday and has been ill all weekend, just wants to cuddle mummy and up all night, so feel like I have a newborn already, except this one calls me by name...

Still having lots of Contractions but have gotten rather blase about them of late, so I may well end up with a accidental home birth "g"

northernmama · 18/12/2006 23:22

thanks for the sympathy everybody!!!

Oli - yes, it does!

MardyBum · 19/12/2006 05:26

Have given up and got up. Swear our bedroom has mice living under the floorboards. Bizarre as it may sound there is a definite SQUEAKING in the night. I'm supposed to be recovering from a home birth in there! Just perfect. Will get DH to investigate when it's light.

BP: much sympathy on the SPD, I understand how miserable it can be. Lots of people say it goes straightaway on delivery. I've been suffering too, though have it more mildly.

DiamondsAreForever · 19/12/2006 12:08

Hi everyone- I haven't had a chance to catch up for ages as I have been trying to spend as much time with dd as possible before ds comes- he was due 12 days ago and now it looks like I'll be having my elective c-section on Thursday after all my hopes of a VBAC. I am very disappointed, but now getting to the point where this baby really NEEDS to come out as he is enormous and very very uncomfortable!
Hope it's not too long a wait for everyone else.
So good luck to all those imminent births and see you all on the other side!

Devongirl · 19/12/2006 15:05

Aw Diamonds, I feel for you I really do. I am due today and I am fed up with it already! So far today I have had a 2 mile walk, 3/4 of a pineapple, 2 raspberry leaf teas and 2 raspberry leaf tablets, have vacuumed the whole house, and am just about to get down and clean the kitchen floor on all fours then do some crab walking up and down the stairs. I am not going down the curry route, but might pounce on DH when he comes in from work! Other than that, I am at a loss about what to try next.

I know it's probably all futile and baby'll come when he's ready though! But at least I feel like I am doing something this way!

By the way, I love Gaviscon and I can't believe I've held on so long before trying it. It stopped my heartburn in 5 minutes flat last night and I had the best night's sleep I've had since I got pregnant! Woohoo!

x

northernmama · 19/12/2006 16:06

Still pg....

Got a little more sleep last night... DD's fever broke in the night, so got about 5 hours straight!!

I'm walking better on hip this morning, but can't wait for this part to be done. Waiting is hard enough, but waiting in agony is quite another story.

Hope everyone else is feeling OK or in labor!!!

I think I'll pop over to the post-natal thread and say hello too.

Thanks for the support yesterday... I really needed it.

spinasnowflake · 20/12/2006 10:01

hello.
still pg.
love gaviscon here too-had to buy another bottle yesterday(was hoping lo would turn up before I shelled out another £7 for it!!!Worth it though!!!)

Sorry to hear about the aches and pains. It's an annoying time isn't it. Woke up with a really horrid pain in my side but it was prob just LO wedged into an akward position.

DH left for work this morning, reassuring me he wasn't too busy, just one meeting so I needed him I could call. HOW VERY GENEROUS! I reminded him that if was in labour I didn't give a hoot how FULL his diary was. Bless him. He's lost in tranlation sometimes!(Translation between his brain and mouth that is!)

satinshoes · 20/12/2006 11:20

Not long now for you all.....On the home straight

Calmriver · 20/12/2006 11:23

Oh Devongirl! You're gonna do it! That is just about everything.

What about the hot bath. I'm sure thats also on the list!

Calmriver · 20/12/2006 11:24

I wouldn't do the curry thing either,as throwing up a spicy curry while in labour can't be very nice. It would burn the hec out of your nose too...(been there)

lubella · 20/12/2006 11:54

Hi all - haven't been on for ages but just wanted to let you all know I gave birth to Angelina Rose on 13th December at 12.24pm weighing in at a fighting 7lbs 15.
It was a difficuly Labour and I had PPH so there were some scary moments but feeling much better now and just enjoying and settling into Motherhood and all it's challenges.

Good luck to everyone - speak soon xx

Gloria42 · 20/12/2006 12:40

Hi. I've been watching for ages, hoping that the next time I posted would be with a birth announcement, but no luck! I know I have no right to expect anything to change before Boxing Day, but I'm getting SO impatient Xmas Envy!!!!
