Congrats to all other new mums out there. I am just popping on for a second to say that I had a baby boy on Friday at 18.20, 7lb 4oz. Was quite an event as was having contractions in the morning when I had a day assesment appointment, but they slowed right down. So went back to my parents to maybe take my dd home again. But then in the afternoon they started to get really fast and quite painful so hooked up my tens unit and then went to the hospital but traffic across London was awful. Anyway got there just after 4 to be told I was fully dilated, yikes yikes yikes as I was strep b pos so no time for antib's or any pain relief options apart from gas and air.

Stayed in overnight so they could just keep a check on ds and he seems fine so hopefully no probs with the strep thing.

Feeling battered and bruised but not too bad, just glad he is here. Still no name yet.
Will be back on again later maybe, just trying to rest and read the papers.

hope everone else is well here, not getting any sleep at night to speak of so just too tired to read further down right now.

BaileysMilkshake · 17/12/2006 15:48

Hi All,

Congrats to DublinDee and Caramelli.

have'nt been on much as TBH I am finding sitting on the chair in front of the PC a little uncomfortable IYKWIM (and I am sure you do ).

Having detol baths everynight to keep stitches clean, although have bought some epsom salts today to try those in the bath instead. Germaloids for my other little gem and arnica tablets to help reduce bruising. gradually starting to be able to sit down on my firt attempt each time

DD is a fab big sister, am so proud of her.

MIL finally went home yeaterday after 2 weeks (felt like years). But DH's grandad has been in hospital since day Dylan arrived so all very bittersweet and everyone is keeping thier fingers crossed he's home for Christmas and gets to meet his grt grandson

satinshoes · 17/12/2006 16:06

BM - does the germaloids work? I think i need to do something there too

Congrats Caramelli

northernmama · 17/12/2006 16:08

Congratulations to Dublindee and Carameli!!! Wonderful news girls, and well done!!

Still pg myslef and really struggling to get through this weekend without hubby....didn't sleep at all on Friday which Saturday really hard. Did better last night but still feeling slow and sluggish overall.

Wish this child could just get born for heavens sake! As long as the weather holds on the west coast, my hubby should be home around suppertime (on Friday the airport was closed and half the city of Vancouver was powerless)!!

Mission Get this Baby Out! stalled a little for me, but as soon as hubby is home, we're on!!!

Is anyone else having unbelievably bad hip pain? My left hip is so sore, sometimes I can't even put weight on it! It's like the bones are crashing together. I'm starting to think that babe is somehow caught up there and will never come out!

northernmama · 17/12/2006 16:10

BM - glad to hear you're healing, slowly, but sorry to hear about DH's grandad... that's quite bittersweet, so close to X-mas and Dylans birth...

northernmama · 17/12/2006 16:11

What are germaloids????????

lennied · 17/12/2006 16:15

Hi all,

Just wanted to add a message of support for spina. Not sure if you will remember me from way back near the beginning. Have been offline at work since I was about 20 weeks and too tired to get time on the internet at home so haven't contributed for a while. Have been reading recently just for the baby announcements - wanted to know how you had all gone on.

I am still waiting (due 26th) and know exactly how you feel about christmas spina, I well up everytime a christmas song comes on the radio, even the asda advert gets me going. And that "All I want for Christmas is you..." song, well that is the death of me. I do think we would be (a little ) more rational if it wasn't for the time of year. I just have this image of my little baby being here for the holidays, and how perfect it all seems. But the reality is it might not happen. Have come to my senses a little today though, either I get a special last Christmas with my DH or a crimbo with the baby, but it will be special nonetheless, I am determined now. And when the baby finally arrives that will be special too. Stressing myself out over the baby being here in time is going to do exactly the opposite anyhow since all those nice hormones don't work when you're stressed. I'm going to make my induction attempts relaxing evenings and cuddles up with DH on the sofa from now on. All this other stuff is far too much hassle really - and if the worst comes to the worst we've still only got to wait a couple more weeks. Whatever happens hope you have a lovely Christmas. Will be thinking of you.

lorie · 17/12/2006 16:24

lennied, agree with what you said here. If it wasn't christmas I don't think we'd be as desperate to have our little ones!

A quick question, does anybody have any ideas of how best to deal with those people that keep ringing every day to say "any news?" It is driving me insane! I have already said that we will let people know....

xx

Indith · 17/12/2006 16:43

More congratulations! Wonderful stuff!

Getting sick of this waiting game and not even reached D-day yet! I'm hopeless. Been feeling pretty sick recently, usually when I lean forwards or bring my legs up...anything that constricts space in my belly really.

Bump been having a really really extra quiet day. I know he is around but compared to normal it is like having a mouse in there (or would that just tickle...hmmmmm maybe need a better analogy) Anyway think I'm going to go have a bath, tat usually gets him moving, really don't want to have to ring up the MW for monitoring, far too cold and horrible out there to trek to the bus station and hospital!

lucy5 · 17/12/2006 17:24

Hi all, still got internet probs. Leo is now 3 weeks oldand is an eating and sleeping machine, which is lucky as I am having probs with an infected csection wound and may have to go in for surgery in the near future. Will post a proper announcement when I am back on my own net. Congratulations and good luck to all xxx Lucy

Indith · 17/12/2006 18:31

Ok I should have left him asleep......dancing all over the place now!

accessorizechristmas · 17/12/2006 20:03

Oh dear, sympathies to all those on Bring the Baby Out missions. I had the hip thing with ds1, it was horrible, couldn't walk further than the car & in agony. Hope it eases up soon northernmama!
Congrats to Carameli, hope no further complications ensue, sounds a bit stressful but well done for getting there fully dilated!
Lucy, sounds like things are still pretty mad 3 weeks on, I hope surgery doesn't happen, it must be a bad post-op infection for that?? You poor thing, as if it's not enough having to have section in first place! Wasn't aware of his name until you posted today, Leo is lovely
Baileys, know exactly what you mean about not being able to sit down, this is day 11 and the 1st day I've been comfortable. Piles FINALLY gone, after liberal use of anusol urgggh (cousin to germaloids?). It's really helped drinking loads and loads of water & cranberrry juice so wee not so acidic and thus doesn't hurt so much when I go - I was (still am) pretty raw. Femepads from Boots also hugely helpful (if expensive) as they dull the pain like nothing else. Also I found the swelling started to go down a lot faster once I used arnica cream directly on the swelling (tablets didn't seem to be doing anything really) - within 2 days it was mostly gone.
My ds2 asleep before the nighttime feeding frenzy starts, so best go clean up after ds1's mad bday party today, house filled with people all day long!

TheOlihantheIvy · 17/12/2006 21:34

Hi all, congratulations Caramelli, look forward to hearing his name!

Well, I'm still pg. Have been at the PILs for dh's grandad's funeral so a bit of an emotional weekend that I'm not really up to coping with at the moment, selfishly.

Feeling really frustrated that I've got another 2-3 weeks to go in reality, especially with my track record. Poor dh can't do a thing right no matter how hard he tries and I don't know what to do with myself. I have this bizarre notion that the baby won't come until everything's ready and sorted for its arrival so I've been madly doing washing, cleaning, tidying, finishing christmas stuff, etc and not really achieving anything! I've got to the point where the thought of coping with 3 children is stressing me out more than anything else and I just want to get on with it.

Sorry, very moany today, going to have an early night and try to sleep!

MardyBum · 17/12/2006 22:47

Congratulations Caramelli!

Everyone's having their babies, am feeling very .

5 days overdue....

Olihan, sorry you've had a tough weekend. How overdue were you with your two?

annaspanner · 17/12/2006 23:06

Finally gave birth to Gabriela, 3.7kilos, on Friday at 18.20,14days after due date. Had been in hospital Monday to induce, then sent home on Tuesday, then booked in again for Thursday morning But my waters broke on Wednesday evening and contractions started. However they wanted it to be natural if possible so waited til Friday morning to start things-thank goodness for my TENS on Thursday. When it started on Friday the contractions got stronger very quickly and I had an epidural. The epidural didn't last and there's no other pain relief on offer here in Spain so when they ended up using a ventose it was all a bit dramatic. I'm very sore but my daughter is lovely and after a full day crying her heart out, has settled down now and seems quite a contented little thing.
Good luck to you all and congrats to those whose births I haven't had time to read about yet.

jabberwocky · 18/12/2006 03:15

Congratulations anna! Lovely name, btw.

NM, I had the hip thing quite badly with ds1. Huge sympathy

northernmama · 18/12/2006 04:30

Thanks jabber - it is making me crazy!!! It hurts like nuts and I can't get away from it. Nothing I've done or taken helps either.

Congratulations Anna!!!!!!!!! Wonderful news about your little one. Hoping you have a speedy recovery!

Oli - sorry to hear your weekend was so hard... hop it gets better

jabberwocky · 18/12/2006 05:27

I know. I had it from about 5 months on w/ ds1 and I was really worried I would have it again with ds2.

castlesintheair · 18/12/2006 10:02

Congratulations to new babies and mummies. See you on the post natal thread sometime. Very quiet over there

spinasnowflake · 18/12/2006 10:42

Congrats Carameli and Anna.

Olihan, sorry about your weekend. I'm feeling exactly the same at moment.(and you've had the extra trauma of a funeral) Hope the sleep helped. I can't manage to have enough energy to do anything.(I've given up on nesting as there's too much pre building work going on here.) Managed to ice my Xmas cake though in the hope that that was the magical last thing I needed to do!

I'm beginning to talk myself around to having to wait another two to three weeks for LO. Did you do any accupuncture? I havn't gotton around to it and won't now. My aim is actually pre Due date not actual due date as I don't want to miss out on DS1 opening his presents.

I did have a few ctrx last night(prob BH) but they go as soon as I lie down. Cue temptation to stay up all night as I've read one theory that exhaustion can bring labour on Not a good idea though IMO.

spinasnowflake · 18/12/2006 10:45

Oh almost forgot!!

lennied,HELLOOOOOOO! I was wondering where you had gotton too. I got a bit worried when you disappeared at 20 weeks. Any signs of LO?

MardyBum · 18/12/2006 11:45

Tum ti tum. Being overdue means every day I wake up feeling as though I'm about to do my finals. I turn up at the exam room, and they say, it's busy, but might just become available later. It doesn't. I go gome .
