Hi guys, I have followed this thread but not reall posted, I am due on the 27th but since a car crash tow weeks ago I have had a show and tightenings that are now contractions.

This is baby number three but am slihtly confused, I only get these contractions at night they always start around 8 pm, why not during the day??

TheOlihantheIvy · 07/12/2006 22:43

Hi Pedilia, I remember you from ages ago! Sorry to hear about the car crash, that must have been terrifying for you. Not sure why the contractions come at night but not in the day, I wonder if it's similar to movements, in that you just don't notice them because you're busy? Probably totally wrong, nearlythere might now if she has a minute on here between feeds. FWIW, a friend of mine fell flat on her bump at 36 weeks and had a few weeks of on-off contractions but in the end went overdue and had a problem free labour. The mws said she'd probably just bruised her uterus a bit and irritated it.

Northernmama, I'm fine, thank you. A bit fed up of waking at am and being unable to go back to sleep until 5 mins before dh's alarm goes off but apart from that haven't got too many complaints. Ds and dd have calmed down again after an inexplicable mad couple of days, don't know what was up with them but I'm glad they're back to their usual placid selves!

PS, gave in and adopted my Christmas name today, in case I'm not instantly recogniseable!!

northernmama · 08/12/2006 04:40

Hopefully everyone is asleep right now and sleeping beautifully.... even if only for a short time until they have to pee again!!

Have had a right shitey day today, am absolutely exhausted....

It's about 9:30 pm here now and the middle of the night for you but thought I'd pop on to grumble about how I'm still pg, gave myself a sore mouth from so much pineapple and fell down with the sideways stepping !!! Tee Heee heee!!

If I weren't so miserable it'd be hilarious, all the things I'm doing to no avail!! I know I still have 2 weeks of this to go!!!

Well, nothing to do about it but keep on munching and sidestepping and telling that baby I'm NOT ready and secretly hoping that a miracle will happen and that the damn contractions that are waking me up at night for NOTHING are eventually going to be the REAL thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a positive note, my OBS said that I am starting to dilate... so you never know (except none of the other kids came early....)

My love to all!!

Hey All,

Still PG! . Got my hours wrong yesterday - addled brain! I now have 24 hours to go! Found the breast pump yesterday - or rather DH did. So am going to wash it through and sterillise it before trying it as a form of nipple stimulation - if I can steal away from the MIL!

Had a few twinges last nght but nothing that seems to have lasted. Perhaps a trickle of waters this morning but it was early and may just have been an impatient bladder

Managed a better nights sleep despite the cough last night as I propped up on a gazillion pillows.

Just want baby out - having images of been booked for my induction on Christmas Eve.

Also had dream bump was a girl, and since then the cat (that did'nt make a mess) has abandoned my lap in favour of DH's. Perhaps he knows it;s a girl and is sticking with the 'all guys together theory'

spinasnowflake · 08/12/2006 10:59

Hello

Still pg!

Had my baby shower last night and I proven to my friends that i'm deperate to be early and now they're very sweetly telling me I will be (which I won't be) They all think I'm a bit nutty(for a change?) and my friend who's due a week after me also thinks I'm acting strangely!

Now for my moan.I feel totally awful today(late night?Cold?Who knows?)

Bought my cauliphyllim yesterday. Anyone know what the bring on labour dose is?(being banned by homeopath from using it until 39 weeks in case it works!)Homeopath was on other end of phone and her collegue in neal's yard didn't think to ask her what the dose was when we were figuring out the dilution!

Haven't gotton around to accupunture or reflexology.(Maybe for my third or fourth pregnancies!HeHeHe!)Might still get around to booking an appointment. the logical part of my brain is telling me that this LO will come out when good and ready and if I go past Xmas day ,I''m not actually bothered as to when he shows up, but if I could just encourage him out pre Xmas that would be fab. (Poor thing deciding to be due at Xmas with such a loony mummy!)

TheOlihantheIvy · 08/12/2006 11:23

Morning, well I've been niggling since 5am but no other signs so I think it's just a cruel trick my body is playing on me . They feel nothing like the contractions I had with dd but because she was induced I didn't have a latent phase, just plunged straight into the full blown bit! I'm about to drag the dcs out for a walk then get the breast pump out when they're in bed. Only slight problem is that dh is in London at a conference and a 2 3/4 hour train journey away so not sure I should try to encourage things too enthusiastically!

This is sod's law though. I was saying to dh the other day that I ought to give birth today as I've had 17 extra days of being pg so I should be 17 days early this time to balance it out. Never thought that type of logic would work though!

Will update on my 'not in labour' status later! Got to get ds dressed before Pinky Dinky Doo finishes and we can go out.

pedilia · 08/12/2006 11:46

theoliandtheivy- I think your right MW at hospital said the crash has irritated my uterus so this could well continue for weeks.

Like everyone just want the end result now

Baconbaps · 08/12/2006 11:49

Heh, Baileys I misread your post as saying you were going to have to steal the breast pump away from your MIL! Nice mental image there!

I haven't posted much lately but managing to catch up with the posts most days. It has gone a bit quieter that's for certain.

Congrats to all those who have given birth lately and very of AC who was due 2 days after me! I've got 6 days to go and apart from niggling back ache, period type pains and really strong BH there's no sign of anything getting going for real. I'm waiting for the overwhelming urge to hoover and then I'll know I haven't got long to go!

Olihan - I saw your other thread earlier and was thinking of you. Fingers crossed that something is happening - or not if you want to put it off a bit longer

weirdbird · 08/12/2006 13:00

Am still here and still pg

Had contractions on and off all afternoon and evening and then collapsed exhausted into bed at 10pm and only woke up once from the contractions and this morning there is nothing

and bump seems a lot happier that its not being squeezed about..

dublindee · 08/12/2006 13:09

Awh weirdbird!
Had my fingers crossed for you.

I've had a show today and a few niggles but nothing major so am going for a walk this afternoon to encourage things along if I can!

Loulou000 · 08/12/2006 13:59

Hi All, things here are all going well. Amberli is now 5lbs...so just over her birth weight!
I have had a few probs this time round as she decided she likes my one boob a bit more than the other...therefore more milk in one than the other...therefore one boob bigger than the other!!!
BUT she is now accepting it and suddenly I have some milk in that boob(still a lot smaller than the favourite though)..Working on it!

I am going to try and attach a photo on here later for you to see my girly!

Hope your babies all come popping out really soon!and for those of you nearby, look forward to meeting up in the new year! Going to be great fun!

Oh...and the appetite and craving for milo is STILLLLLLLLLL here!!!

jabberwocky · 08/12/2006 16:02

Hey, cr, glad to hear she's gaining well. Ds2 also has a strong preference for one side I have to work and work to get him to take rhe other one. Sometimes he does better with a nipple shield on that side.

weirdbird · 08/12/2006 16:17

My DD had a definite preference for one the first time around, and that breast is still bigger today, despite my trying to get her to take the other side as much...

Calmriver · 08/12/2006 16:46

I hope mine go back to an equal size after.

Jabber- I have posted on the post-natal. We seem to have gone into hiding a bit now that the babies are here. Busier than normal I suppose.

Must try the nipple shilds!!!

Elibean · 08/12/2006 17:09

Hi all,

Haven't had time to read much, so apologies in advance! I seem to post when I can, then play catch up on reading the news...someone tell me it will all settle down one day...

Mischa is now 7lbs 7oz, and today was my due date - she held onto her umbilical cord (what was left of it) till last night, very symbolic In spite of inreasing colic/wind, she's doing well with feeding...has put 5oz on over her birthweight already. Little piglet that she is, especially - of course - at night!

Interesting to see other babes also preferring one breast to the other...I am very sore on one side, because I just can't seem to get the latch right (or Mischou can't). Frustrating, and its the more productive side too. Am going to get the b'feeding woman to come and trouble shoot us on Monday.

dd1 has a high temp and cold, my bp is still too high but stable-ish, so its just a waiting game, our CH packed up but was fixed today, and I've just discovered the reason I'm so out of breath is that I lost loads of blood during the section (not even been taking iron, had no idea!). But basically, life is rolling on and we're in a happy blur most of the time...increasingly knackered, but, amazingly, pretty relaxed. Is that a second timer thing, d'you suppose? Definitely not down to Zenishness on my part...

Hope those of you who are still pregnant aren't too horribly uncomfortable, its exciting to see the contractions starting up left right and centre, the days ticking past, and the babes appearing on all sides....wow, 2-3 more weeks and we'll all be postnatal. MUST go and find that thread...

And one day, I'll figure out photos - and where to see others' as well as how to post mine

dublindee · 08/12/2006 18:18

Hi girlies - have a look at this !!!

Finally!!!

satinshoes · 08/12/2006 19:02

Fingers crossed for you dublindee.

I am having contrax which are starting to get a bit more painful so wondering if this might be it.

Not sure whether or not to get my hopes up.

dublindee · 08/12/2006 19:16

That was me as well satinshoes but now they've gotten stronger and have gone from 10mins apart to 7. I'm in for a bit of a wait til I cart myself off to hospital but at least I know I've STARTED!!!

TheOlihantheIvy · 08/12/2006 19:56

Well, I'm NOT in labour . Have had on-off pains all day that are going nowhere. Baby's been a bit on the quiet side too so if it doesn't perk up a bit when I go to bed then it'll be a trip to the day assessment unit tomorrow. Wonder if I could persuade someone to do a quick sweep while I'm there?

DH has just gone to the shops to get some raspberry leaf tea capsules and a new pair of maternity jeans as mine have finally given up the ghost and started disintergrating in rather too personal places. None of my other maternity trousers stay done up any more so I'm a bit stuck! I'm also getting the breast pump out once he's back, especially after I read that 57% of women went into labour after doing it, compared to 4% who didn't in some study. That's good enough for me!

Good luck Dee and Satinshoes, hope this is really it for both of you.

BM, only 4 hours to go.......

northernmama · 08/12/2006 22:03

Wow!!! Good vibes good vibes for satinshoes and dublindee!!!!

Hope everyones having a good day!! Still pg myself but on a cleaning frenzy at the moment...

Am much better today after a decent nights rest

weirdbird · 08/12/2006 23:56

Gah so jealous , my contractions seem to have departed entirely...

"If found please return to one rather desperate owner"

dublindee · 09/12/2006 00:19

How's things with you satinshoes? You still hanging in there? Mine are still 6-7 mins apart so don't reckon I'll be up to much for a while, gonna try get some sleep.

Olihan, at least I was due to pop on Sunday so I've not been too cheeky. Plus he's not in any rush so it may well still be Sunday that he's born!!

annaspanner · 09/12/2006 01:19

I have to be honest and say it's a relief to know I'm not the only one getting slightly frustrated. I haven't had any contractions for a week now, since my due date actually (am now 41 weeks!). I've tried Raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, walking, sex, the stairs, curry, sleeping policemen & various potholes and, today, reflexology. I'm booked in for induction on Monday but would prefer it to be natural.
My parents who arrived last Saturday and who are normally quite chilled (and not staying at mine thank goodness) are starting to get fidgety.
And we get people asking 'any news?' a number of times every day.
Ho hum....not long now

summerlovebaby · 09/12/2006 07:28

Good luck satinshoes and dublindee. WB I hope things get moving again for you soon and for you too, anna I hope it's not long now.

I would have thought that a stressful MIL would be enough to send anyone into labour but in that case Baileys and me would have had ours ages ago....

Been up since 4am so I'm going to be of no use for the rest of the day..and I have an NCT ante-natal from 10-4..should be fun trying to stay awake and in a decent mood.

Gloria you are right..we are going to be lurking around right till the end.

xx
