Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
satinshoes · 09/12/2006 07:55

Morning everyone.

Everything got to 5 mins apart and then stopped

At least I had a good nights sleep.

The contrax seem to have come back about 8-10 mins apart so somethings obviously happening but not going to get excited yet...

dublindee · 09/12/2006 10:05

Hi Satin!
Didn't get a great night as DS woke up twice - first time DP took him, 2nd time I offered (I need less sleep than DP, contractions weren't too bad and wanted him able to drive safley to hosp). DS didn't go back to sleep for over an hour. Then baby was quite active so only slept off and on.
Contractions are back this morning 7-8 mins apart. Hope something happens today.

Anna - hang in there huni. Hope all starts off real soon for you. I remember when I was late with DS it used to REALLY annoy me when everyone would ask if there was any news. I wanted to scream "What do you bloody think? If there WAS news I'd be in the F***G hospital right now!" But maybe you're a better person than me and that's not your reaction

satinshoes · 09/12/2006 10:08

Hi Dublin, Hope things start speeding up for you. Mine are about 8 mins now but the pain is ramping up a bit. Having to breathe through them properly

dublindee · 09/12/2006 10:13

Same. Hope your MW told you you can take paracetamol AND ibuprofen to help control the pain as well.
Just write down the time you take em and keep it for when you get to the hospital so they know when the last dose was.
Paracetamol every 4 hours Ibuprofen every 6. I started off with DS on Paracetamol and then 2 hrs later would take Ibuprofen so I had an overlap.
Worked til I got to 5-6cm dilated with those and just gas and air - then I turned chicken

satinshoes · 09/12/2006 10:18

Thanks Dublindee. I havent taken anything yet although just wondering whether to get the TENS machine out. Will see how the next few go...

dublindee · 09/12/2006 10:33

Never used a TENS but lots of people have recommended do it earlier rather than later so you get used to the pulses and stuff and can gradually build rather than having to start off on a high setting as apparently it's not as good then.

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 09/12/2006 10:42

Sorry for crash when i was at the hospital on weds, they gave me cococodomol 2 every 6 hrs they worked well, told me plenty of hot baths, and try and stay as active as i can dont lie on my back as pains are worse (as if you could anyway i walked the labour ward for 9 hours and that semed the only way i could cope with the pain.
Good luck ladies

dublindee · 09/12/2006 10:45

Don't have any of that stuff at home tho - but thanks Debbsy!

BaileysMilkshake · 09/12/2006 10:46

Okay it's due date!!! Where is my baby?

FIL called last night to say he is going away next weekend Fri-Sun - which means if bump doesnt arrive till Friday we are stcuk with MIL all next weekend. Cannot believe she has only been here a week - feels like a lifetime.

She went out yesterday without any of us and spent 90 minutes walking round our local second hand store - which is roughly the size of a petrol station shop. Then went in to town and has successfuly managed to buy DD a few little things that Santa had already bought to deposit in her stocking .

She washes up (badly) at every oppertunity and is quite frankly just doing my bloody head in!

Gonna beg MW for an induction or a sweep on Monday! Although I did say before a arrival on 13th would be nice as it would have been my mum's b'day.

Bump has quietened although still registering movements - could things be about to start??

To all those of you underway........good luck

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 09/12/2006 10:48

oh and the tens machine as well i used mine it was fab started off on 2 then moved it up gradually as pain got worse finished off on a 7 then you all know what happened yes you guessed it contrax stopped !!!!

dublindee · 09/12/2006 10:50

Hope you start off son Baileys.
Am feeling a bit guilty now sitting here having contractions when you have all that to put up with at home. But I'm not sorry the end is in sight!!!

I repeat - THANK GOD MY FUTURE MIL IS AN ABSOLUTE SWEETIE!

BaileysMilkshake · 09/12/2006 11:08

DublinDee you sound so serene 'sitting here having contractions' let me know when you feel the urge to moo? That's the closest i can come to explaining the noise I made when having DD.

Just read the breastpump remark and am gonna pop it in the sterilliser now and the off I go - actually so the sterilliser I am only doing it to induce. If I get any result perhaps then it can be sterillised - yes I am desperate!

dublindee · 09/12/2006 11:11

Nah, I was like this last time as well in the early stages but once waters go and I'm 6-7cms I turn into your average drug-craving loon!!

satinshoes · 09/12/2006 11:18

hi, my tens is on no 3.

contrax now about every 5 mins.

eek

dublindee · 09/12/2006 11:21

Not fair I'm 6 minutes. Slow down satin!

SlightlyMadSanta · 09/12/2006 11:48

I appologise for gatecrashing your thread, and I realsie you havn't had your babies yet but, I urge you all to look at this article about the risk of cot death in car seats for young babies.

Having seen my baby go blue in a car seat (she was awake at the time, and is fine now) I urge you all to use car seats for their purpose - safely restraining your baby in the car. A travel system may be convenient and it may mean your baby can see you in their pushchair, but it is nowhere near as safe for them as laying them flat in a pram or pushchair. Please think about if you use your travel system on each occasion and I don't deny they can be very useful at times.

I am sorry if it sounds like I am shouting but seeing a baby go blue is scary. There is another thread which also has some other comments on .

dublindee · 09/12/2006 12:02

Rang labour ward to give them a heads up.
If my waters go (still intact) I've to get to the hospital ASAP otherwise hold off til 3-4mins and then head in.

HAPPY DAYS!

Gonna turn off PC now and sort out food/clothes etc for DS, get bag in car and shower and change clothes.

Wish me luck!

annaspanner · 09/12/2006 12:58

Good luck Dublindee and Satinshoes!!

Dublindee-you said when you heard any news? ?I wanted to scream "What do you bloody think? If there WAS news I'd be in the F*G hospital right now!" But maybe you're a better person than me and that's not your reaction?
Nope?.that?s EXACTLY my reaction!
Also?"Would I be on messenger if I was having the baby?" & "don?t you think I would tell my own brothers as soon as I could?"

You poor thing Bailey-I really understand your MIL predicament when you say ?She washes up (badly) at every opportunity? Does she put all the pots and pans back in the wrong cupboards? Insist on cleaning things and then making more of a mess or taking 3 times as long as you would do? Not take no for an answer?
I don't see mine very often at the moment but she lives round the corner and really wants to help out when the baby arrives .
What do you say to someone with the best intentions in the world?

Gloria42 · 09/12/2006 13:59

Hi there. Good luck to all you guys in labour. Let me tell you, as a first-timer, I have lots of images about what it will be like (if Bump EVER decides to make an appearance!) but I certainly never imagined I'd be calm enough to post on here - you guys are an inspiration!!!!!!!!!

Elibean · 09/12/2006 15:00

Good luck Dublindee and Satinshoes! Very exciting (easy to say, sat here without contractions expressing milk for dh to give dd2 tonight ).

Milkshake....happy due date! Mine was yesterday, with Mischa exactly 2 weeks old - very odd. Felt like I should be heading into hospital. Hope things happen fast for you now

judemum · 09/12/2006 15:45

Hi all- sorry not had time to read up on all messages. just a quick one to let you all know that Ewan Fraser made his appearance at 1525 on thursday- 8 days early. very quick labour- woke up with period type pains which ramped up during the morning, got to hospital at 1pm and he was born 2.5 hours later, with minimum fuss! a few major puffs on the gas and air and some rather loud shouting from me and he literally popped out. weighs in at 7lb 12oz. could not have been more different from the very hard labour I had with DS1. still trying to get our heads round it all as were not quite ready amnd as youy know had only one day to sort all baby gros and hospital bag out before he arrived, but think it happened the best way. Oh, and he's beautiful must dash- will be back on tomorrow maybe.

judemum · 09/12/2006 15:46

PS good luck to those in labour. Hope you have a good one like mine.

Indith · 09/12/2006 16:33

Congrats Jude

Keeping everything crossed for those currently on the go!

Dp has a job interview on Friday, after that bring on the pineapple and curry, don't mind if I persuade him out early I just want my back to stop hurting!

Oh and anyone else get odd sort of pains if they ave to push a bit to go to the loo?

congrats to those you have got things moving along nicely now [fmsile] I am really pleased for you guys, but also really jealous.
Off out tonight for a meal as it was out 4th wedding anniversary the other day.
But not easy when I spend most of my evening suffering from nausea.

I know how you feel Olihan, I thought things were moving this morning with some very strong contractions. But nothing now.

oh well.
