Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

Congrats Castles!

My new mum friend (her DD is about 3 weeks now) told me yesterday to enjoy these last weeks. Well I would if I could sleep, not have back pain and get this octopus out from my ribs!

My house is all clean, I have the start of a hospital pile (don't want to put it in a bag I've got a home birth planned but just in case!)I want the baby now! Don't want to wait another 24 days!

At least we can all be grumpy and achey together

weirdbird · 04/12/2006 12:27

Spina you sound just like me, I am also 37 weeks tomorrow and am commencing my own version of get me out of here, maybe we could compare notes ideas etc...

Have accupuncture booked, just need to start taking my colo- whatsit homeopathic stuff and am waiting for reflexologist to get back to me.

Am taking so much medication due to various pregnancy conditions I feel like I rattle and am unable to see the humour in things any more.

DH has now had his b'day so now I just want the baby to arrive....

But then I have felt that way for the last month or so and have been trying patiently to wait till I was 37 weeks and was term...

I think this may be due to my being too big and having measured the size of someone who is 41 weeks since I was 30, feel like I have been in that final stage FOREVER

weirdbird · 04/12/2006 12:32

Wow Congratulations Castles, Athina is a lovely name.

Welcome mishelfish & waves hello again to mardy (which is really weird as one of my best friends uses mardybum as her ID on another board, so I keep thinking its her, even though I know its not)

It takes me so long to write a cohesive post these days that there are loads more things to comment on by the time I do!!

BaileysMilkshake · 04/12/2006 12:45

Congrats Castles - so plaesed for you, and still too! Love the name too! Please take thing easy!

MIL update - after posting on here last night I began to think about the situation (always a bad sign) and realised this woman is in her 60's and sleeping on a sofa bed for us to have the peace of mind that DD is happy while I am in labour. So began to soften.

However this morning while making some calls etc I happened to mention I did'nt get on with her phone as it was grainy and I could'nt see the number I was calling etc. She got all bristly and reminded me it was the only she could use.

Also I have been cooking meals from scratch in an effort to make sure she is fed, but today while walking round the town in my heavily (5 days from due) state she bought some bl**dy ready meals saying that was what she is used to at home. Obviously my roast and home made soup (which I will say is delicious - cos it is) is not good enough for her. And now her crapy meals have taken up freezer space again that I was planning to fill with more home cooking!

She is playing the doting mother to DH, jumping up amd making his coffee the minute he walks through the door, obviously I am a bad wife cos I dont! And DD has a rotten cold and cough which she agrees with me is nasty then tells DD she's not as bad!!!!

Taste of blood very bitter

BTW soft boiled eggs (3) last night with toasted soldiers were delish - I only eat the yolks!

BaileysMilkshake · 04/12/2006 13:16

Got Rennie for my heartburn and all's well with that part of me now - could get addicted to those little chews!

On the MIL front. I am quite strict with DD about putting one toy away before she gets another out - else we'd be tripping over miles of train track and loosing puzzle pieces all the time. However MIL is copying me - and although you think I'd be pleased.....I am not, I dont like her tone of voice with my DD!

Lets face it she is not going to win!

lorie · 04/12/2006 15:43

Hello everyone, can I join in?

Had a quick read of some of the posts here, congrats to those that have had their little ones!

I am due next friday (15th), can anybody offer any words of wisdom? I feel like I am just sat here waiting for something to happen! This is my first so no other children to keep me running around, I've done the nesting thing, nursery ready etc etc....WHAT shall i do??

(sorry for the moan!)

MardyBum · 04/12/2006 16:05

Hi Lorie, I'm due next week too. Have you done all your Christmas shopping, cards etc? I've been doing a bit of knitting on my days off from child care... Its worth getting your freezer stocked up in advance... Otherwise kick back and watch a load of DVDs, read or catch up on your sleep, you'll miss the chance to do these things afterwards!

Loulou000 · 04/12/2006 16:06

Welcome Lorie! I'm waiting around too, until the 18th. Lots of thumb twiddling going on. I've been cleaning, doing Christmas cards, and reading loads of books that everyone tells me I'll have no time for soon! Keeping up with all the news on this thread takes a while, too.

Hello all, tried to post a few times over he weekend but the monitor on the house computer blew up, dh's stupid work laptop is a nightmare to type on and I managed to inadvertently delete 3 entire posts before I pressed 'post' so got thoroughly fed up and gave up!! Lovely dh then went out and bought me a laptop so I'll be able to MN and feed/ lie in bed once dc3 is here .

Congratulations Castles, lovely name and very impressed at you doing the school run - can see me being in the same boat in Jan so you can be my inspiration!!

No signs of anything interesting happening here. 37 weeks tomorrow so just another 5 weeks to go (mrs optimist is in the building ).

Hello to mischelfish and lorie! Lorie, have you stocked the freezer with plenty of nutritious, easy to reheat meals for after the baby's born? The final countdown is very tedious but try not to get too hung up on your due date (almost impossible, I know!) but from someone who has been late twice, it is absolutley gutting when your edd passes with no signs at all.

Had ds's 3rd birthday party yesterday which was lovely. He had a fantastic time and we made the excellent decision to hire an music/entertainer type woman to come so we had to do nothing except organise the food. It was so stress free!

Unfortunately when we got home dh's dad rang to say that his grandad had just died. Although we knew it was coming it all happened much more quickly than we expected. Luckily we popped up to see him last sunday so dh had sort of said his goodbyes. Funeral will be next week sometime we think.

Has anyone heard anything from Magnolia? I hope it all went okay for her and there weren't any scary complications from the praevia.

BM, you deserve a medal for having your MIL to stay for so long . I love mine to bits but couldn't cope with having her to stay for more than a few days, I need my own space too much. Yours does sound a bit crackers though, what's the phone thing all about? Can't you keep yours plugged in unless she needs to make a call? Or is she acting as secretary as well?! I'm also chewing about 20 Rennies a day, I seem to have constant acid in my throat but they're staving off a full blown heartburn attack so far, which is good.

summerlovebaby · 04/12/2006 16:12

Congrats Castles...

Hi Lorie welcome to the thread, I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and not all organised still so can't tell you what to do with your free time I'm afraid, since I'm still running around like a headless chicken!

oooh the MIL rants, why are they all so difficult? Baileys, on the food front, don't worry, mine only likes her own cooking so I have abandoned the kitchen and left it all to her. I made yummy soup from scratch last night and she complained it was sour...ah well never mind, she is being a help so I just have to remember that, not be ungrateful etc. I still refuse to take her shopping though

oh my ribs, my back, my heartburn..

northernmama · 04/12/2006 16:19

Hi everyone! Just going to try to catch up on the posts over the last few days.... have been having lots of contractions and actually thought there might be a baby by today... no luck after all... with any luck, though, all that business over he wekkend has started to dilate me so that I can have this baby and be done with it!!

accessorizechristmas · 04/12/2006 16:39

Glad the bp's getting under control Elibean, nice to hear from you!
Had to rush off as dp rang to say he'd take me to Ikea to buy long-awaited new wardrobe. Oh joy, and I had 15 meatballs as well. Think he's even going to put it together tonight for me - I'm so excited to have a proper rail that will fit ALL of the clothes I can't actually wear coz am size of small house. Have noticed today that cheekbones have disappeared. Buried amongst marsbars?

lorie · 04/12/2006 16:41

Hi ladies, thanks for messages.

I've done all my christmas shopping (v.organised this year) and going to write my cards out this weekend (something to do!), oh and put up the tree (don't you just love christmas!x).

I guess I need to be patient....aarrghhh easier said than done. I think I will be on here a lot during the next few weeks!

Good luck to those that are also due next week. Let us know how you get on. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for us all. xx

northernmama · 04/12/2006 16:52

Has anyone else had rambling bits of chest pain in the last few weeks. The last couple of nights especially, I can't even lie down flat... so now I have to try to prop up an a side and I just CAN'T sleep!!

northernmama · 04/12/2006 16:55

I've finished most of the shopping now, have done the tree and decorated the house... now just wrapping and Christmas cards I guess. I also got it in my head to make baby announcement cards ('cause I have oh-so-much energy...), which are now half done so I guess I'd better finish them too...

Plus my house looks like a bomb went off and I should tidy up there too...

And..

And...

northernmama · 04/12/2006 16:59

Indiemummy - there's a 7 hour time difference from where I live to you in the UK.... which means that while its close to 5 pm now where you are, it's 10:00 am where I am...

It makes keeping up and having a "live" chat very challenging...
I've resigned myself to tryin to catch up with the posts when I can, and when I come surfing, I just hope there's someone on the thread to chat with.. so far so good, but it's hard to really get to know anyone. Plus I'm a new-ish poster, so y'know...

Only 19 days to go....

dublindee · 04/12/2006 18:36

Welcome to the 2 newbie posters and congrats to Castles (love the name) as well as huge respect for doing the school run!
Sooooo of all the new babies on here tho. Need to settle my hormones I think....

It's a MIL rant-free zone here as I am VERY lucky with my future MIL. DP's mum had the MIL from hell so she has always vowed not to interfere.
True to her word she's been ace. She's 20mins away from us so is near enough in an emergency but she leaves us to do our own thing.
Plus, having BF both DP and his sis, she doesn't make the ususal negative comments my OWN mum makes about BF and is really supportive!
Feel so sorry for you Baileys - I think I'd have told her to feck off (would never use the other "f" word) so many times at this stage her head would be spinning!

BaileysMilkshake · 04/12/2006 19:50

DDee, very of your MIL situation - I am trying so hard to do things to please mine, but she's just so blunt about things.

Found out that mine bought the ready meals in case I did'nt feel like cooking one night - so I guess she'll heat one up for herself and leave DH and DD to starve

DD has just started to have her cold come out and her tummy start to move again so understandably like all of us chocolate is the only thing that appeals . So when DH came in at lunch time to see DD's lunch untouched I told him what she had ate, forgot the chocolate, as was'nt thinkning and MIL piped up - 'and chcolate which is why she doesnt want her lunch' Yet at all other times it's perfectly acceptable for her to feed her crap .

On the PG front - let me not forget why I am here, had MW today and was told bumps head is 2/5 engaged!

Bladder is out of control, thought my waters had broke after putting on PJ's - only to discover - I had peed myself.

While at MW a friend came in with brand new notes (they get us to fill them out while we wait) very awkward as obviously she had'nt planned to tell anyone yet and is only 10wks - but DH and I have prmoised to remain completely silent about it until they have had 12 week scan and are confident about things. Poor thing, no wonder she left early when she came round last week and I had a pregnancy and birth programme on. Although she was complaining about a cold today, so I took the oppertunity to advise her much worse will come, look on the cold as a sort of starter! -

satinshoes · 04/12/2006 20:02

Milkshake. my bladder is seriously not what it once was either

BaileysMilkshake · 04/12/2006 20:13

It was sooo embarassing - DH wondered why I sort of pranced into the bathroom with a fresh pair of PJ bottoms as he came out from washing his hair, considering I had just changed into some others. So had no choice but to come clean - which made him laugh, but for a man I think it was TMI!

northernmama · 04/12/2006 20:15

Bailey's...wicked wicked!!!! And funny too - I don't think I could stand having my MIL live in with me for any length of time!!!

It's not just the comments either, it's the whole, "you should do it my way" attitude that they just can't help.

As for bladder control, I have had such a bad cold and coughed like a madwoman and have had to wear a diaper basically for a week!!!

It's truly awful!

Oh god, the lack of pelvic floor! Dh is threatening to make me sit on a plastic bag on the sofa because I keep sneezing/coughing/laughing then jumping up going 'Oh, shit, I've done it again '. Luckily he thinks it's highly amusing though.

jabberwocky · 04/12/2006 20:26

Bad pelvic floor here, too I have bee doing kegels this last week, determined to rehabilitate...
