Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

satinshoes · 04/12/2006 09:33

Hi Spina, I'm still here. Another naff night's sleep as i have a cough/cold. Nothing much happeining. 9 days to wait...supposedly.

MardyBum · 04/12/2006 09:34

Congratulations to everyone who's had their baby recently. I've been catching up on the last few weeks, and have only posted a couple of times before... so hi to all.

39 weeks tomorrow, and I'm getting very ready to have this baby. Except DH has a job interview tomorrow so I'm not allowed to have it today .

Can hardly get out of bed in the morning these days. Have SPD, and whole pelivs kind of locks overnight and often gives an audible click into place. It hurts, and also totally grosses me out! Also getting rather anxious about the birth, though have been through it before... Maybe it's best to just get it over with. How bad can it really be?

Anybody else finding it very difficult to cope with their existing children in their hippo-like state? I can hardly move, and my toddler (28 months) is sometimes driving me mad just by being 2. Poor thing! I such a grumpy mummy these days! She goes to CM Monday and Friday so am making the most of my days of rest. Will be switching on Phil and Fern and trying to finish knitting the baby blanket I've been making for many many weeks.

On the subject of MILs, mine drove me mad last time round ("doesn't that baby need some more clothes on?", "shouldn't she be wearing a hat?" (in bed in July... er, no), "how often do you FEED that baby, mine went four hours between feeds from birth") AARGH. Here's hoping she's got a bit more faith in our parenting skills this time round. Last time she treated us like wilful children (and I was 30 when DD was born!).

Phew, rant over...

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 09:45

Got a cough here too. Was planning to be fighting fit when I went into labour!

But I've got 21 days to go til due date so I guess chances are I'll be well by then

I shouldn't rant about the "laws" because they're really sweet and helpful, but there is this line when help stops being help and start being that other thing and I think we crossed it in 2003! Silly me,thinking that having children would confirm to MIL that her little boy was a grown man and had a family of his own

I'm already looking forward to next xmas---Dh,me,a four year old and a one year old(there or thereabouts), our building work finished, the tree not in storage, the house "tastefully" decorated by my choosing(not my MILs sale shopping with DH the Jan before we moved into our last house!!!)

Oh gosh I'm ranting again!!!!!

castlesintheair · 04/12/2006 09:49

Hi everyone, just a quickie ...

Athina was born at 09.50am on Thursday 30th November. 7lbs 12oz (3.5kg), gorgeous (of course) and she looks just like her siblings. She's also sleeping just as badly as her big sister did

Waters broke at 11pm night before - I knew something was happening wasn't I banging on about it on here - and managed to hold off for a c-section the following morning. Everything tip top - feeding well, feeling chipper just knackered. Came home last night and managed to walk to school this morning with DD2 in sling, DD1 in buggy & DS1 trotting beside me. Most impressed with myself

Congratulations to all the others who have sprung since I last checked. No time to read but hope to catch up later. Eli, hope it went ok for you? And Magnolia?

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 09:51

I'm a grumpy mummy and wifey here too BTW. But I'm living with a grumpy three year old and a grumpy hubby so it all balances out in the end. We were all snapping at one another on Saturday and made a deal to wake up on Sunday full of cheer!!Which most of us managed!!

But now DS1 has told me this morning that I'm CRAZY because I told him he looked a bit like a Tweenie when he yawns!!

satinshoes · 04/12/2006 09:52

Congratulations Castles

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 09:53

x-ed posts!!

Congrats Castles. V. impressed with school run! Be proud!!

MardyBum · 04/12/2006 10:01

Congratulations. There are a lot of c-sections going on! Amazed at your school run story, you must be making quite some recovery.

satinshoes · 04/12/2006 10:22

anyone got any weird nesting stuff going on? Last time with DD i sorted all DHs clothes into seasonm/colour. I just realised i just arranged all my clothes last night into colour order. wardrobe looks like a rainbow so hopefully not long now....

accessorizechristmas · 04/12/2006 10:24

Lord, castles, oughtn't you to be in bed, not doing the school run with sling?!!!! Congratulations and welcome to Athina, really glad the section went well & you're feeling so chipper!
I am starting to think I might be actually having a baby so I guess I'd better sort some stuff out. More bh's (as I suppose that's what they must be) this morning, have retrieved the tens from the car, not sure if I can put the dratted pads on myself though. My tummy still really sore from yesterdays little workout.
spina, why are you wishing your mat leave away??? I'd be praying the baby came on time so I could have more mornings in bed!!
Is anyone else's ds/dd kicking up already as my ds is now really unhappy about nursery & making a huge deal of it every time. Plus regressing with potty training, on fri went through 8 pairs of trousers, most of them pooey until I was ready to scream (I did yell a bit, must admit). At least I know what I'm in for once his brother arrives, I guess. Tantrums, poo and screaming in the night, sigh.
Welcome, mishelfish, don't worry about the number of midwives, quite common to see a different one every time, I don't think I've met all my team yet You can always pop on here, we're the same every day whinging about something!!
Hang on, have to put some festive smileys in

MardyBum · 04/12/2006 10:32

Blimey, how exciting AC... Good luck!

How old is your DS? I have put off potty training completely as I heard that they can regress when baby comes along... although mainly decided not to bother yet as I'm incredibly lazy . My daughter still going happily to CM, in fact, rather guttingly, she asked to go to CM one day last week when I was trying to occupy her with 12 hours of cbeebies , and again at the weekend.

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 10:39

Acessorize,You're completely right. I should be having lie-in while I can. However I'm finding that I'm quite fidgety in the morning. Once I'm awake I'm REALLY awake and desperate to get on and do stuff. I end up waiting for DH to
a) get out of bed
b)finish in bathroom so I can have a shower.

Cos he's the one that has to be somewhere (ie work) It's being the same on my "Mummy" days at home for months. I end up getting into shower after he has left(late!) and I'd rather be up for a good reason(ie b/fing) while he faffs about!

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 10:41

Sorry,AC, Big hug about potty/general older child stuff. We had our first"but I've got a tummy ache" this morning. Guess who thought a day at home with lazy pg mummy eating chocolate was more fun than proper stimulation at nursery?

accessorizechristmas · 04/12/2006 10:41

There is a little bit of me that's excited, mardy, but most of me is terrified and thinking but I haven't sorted the kitchen out yet!!
I would have put off potty training if I could, but ds gave me no choice, he decided on it himself in the summer (nighttime as well). It's just sticking my head in those pooey knickers that does my head in!
I too have been relying a little more heavily on videos & dvd's lately, I think I'd best buy some more, we've had counting with sooty all weekend & I'm sick of it. Have never actually watched cbeebies, I guess I'll be starting soon...

accessorizechristmas · 04/12/2006 10:43

x-post, spina. I lied to ds last week, said I was going to work for a bit just so I could get out of the nursery & go shopping!! Bad mother...

mumatuks · 04/12/2006 10:48

Hi guys,
I posted a little while ago to introduce myself and haven't been back since

I'm sat here with 6 days to go and wishing time away! I've also started nesting, tidying, cleaning sorting out my boys clothes. I must;'ve missed something though as it doesn't seem to be making DS3 appear any sooner!

Hope you all keep well, lovely to hear that some of new ones have arrived already!
xx

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 10:48

not bad,clever mummy!

I've pretended to DS that I've had to go somewhere too in the past, but have to be careful where I say as he loves the idea of going to doctors with me!!!

I completely forgot to expalin the fact I'd be on Mat leave to him until I came home on Thursday. Told him it was cos I had to wait til his little brother was big enough to go to nursery like him and at moment it's cos I got things to do to get ready(He's being dragged around Mothercare and was very bored as he got bought nothing-for the first time in his life So I think in the end he was happier to go out than have to endure THAT again!

accessorizechristmas · 04/12/2006 10:51

I got stuck with that last week, had to take him to the dratted drs with me as he was so excited about it! DS thinks doing anything with me whatsoever is exciting at the moment, god knows how he'll be when he knows I'm at home with his baby brother!

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 10:53

Hi mamatuks!Let me know if you figure out what it is to get LOs into action!

I think I need to get myself ready-TENS etc then forget about labour etc. I'm thinking myself much closer to my EDD than I am due to all the baby-popping that's being going on!!!

Once Ive got TENS and repacked bag again(I keep finding useful things-so have a hospital bag pile) I'll start just relaxing!!

MardyBum · 04/12/2006 10:56

AC, it's great that your DS was up for potty training, I did make a half-hearted attempt with my DD, but she prefers to stick to her nappies and just shout "clean my bum" at me intermittently {shock}.

I must admit to telling my DD that mummy and nanna had to go to work so that we could slope off for a posh lunch and a spot of light shopping a few weeks ago... did feel a teeny bit guilty.

Hi mumatuks, wish the nesting instinct would kick in with me, I'm descending into deeper and deeper lethargy.

Elibean · 04/12/2006 10:57

Congrats Castles! Bet she IS gorgeous, and I am so impressed by your school run - sling using, straight after section? my hero! - that I might have to try and stagger to nursery with dh and dd2 (love typing that) at lunchtime. If I'm dressed by then, that is

First time back on in days again - bp been a right pain, not to mention scary. still too high but stable for 48 hours, so here's hoping life can start to return to normal - um, for want of a better word.

To all of you in labour, almost in labour, or wishing you were in labour....thinking of you! And am going to try and use next online minute to check out the postnatal thread - can't remember who set it up, but thank you

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 10:58

MR MAGNOLIA!!! Where are you? We're all thinking of Magnolia and really hope everything went well?

jabberwocky · 04/12/2006 11:32

Congratulations, castles!!! I am mightily impressed with your school run

AC, we are having a hell of a time with ds1 atm
:{ He is still doing well with the potty, but tantrums come out of nowhere and go on for close to an hour. I feel really sorry for him but frustrated at the same time. I've been giving up precious nap time every day to spend one on one time with him and still the tantrums...

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 11:33

Mat leave/TV update...

As I sit here.. There's a programme on BBC1 where they sell stuff on ebay and buy new stuff..Should I invite them to join our thread? They sound like they'd fit right in!!!

Loulou000 · 04/12/2006 12:03

Congratulations to all the new mums and everyone who's coping with in laws and sundry complaints! Takes ages to catch up on the thread these days there's so much going on. I'm still killing time until c-s date... tum te tum.
