Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

Ooh, must rush to Matalan/Wilko's and get some sheets as finally have a moses basket. Or read that pillowcases make ideal sheets for moses baskets to be a real cheapskate!

babypowder · 02/12/2006 21:35

I only used pillowcases in the moses basket with DD - not even going to bother with a moses basket this time round. How cheap am I

karma1 · 02/12/2006 21:36

IF YOU USE YOUR PILLOWCASE OF YOUR BEDS BABY MEANT TO SETTLE BETTER AS they can smell you

ELM · 03/12/2006 07:49

Morning! Congrats cals and nearlythere..
Have been running round like a blue arse fly this weekend getting the nursery ready, and cooking enormous meals so I can freeze them (thanks guys, the idea hadn't occurred to me- now I'm doing an impression of Delia on speed!!..DP is petrified!)
I am NOT ready to have this baby the week after next!!
Has anyone heard from Magnolia??

jabberwocky · 03/12/2006 08:37

Was wondering about magnolia. The thread has gone rather quiet suddenly it seems. Everyone must be doing the same as you!

I'm always so impressed at people who manage to cook and freeaze ahead of time

satinshoes · 03/12/2006 09:46

Hi all,

Bit tired as up most of night again. Thought it might have been THE night as had a few hours of v close contractions....then nothing...grr

babypowder · 03/12/2006 11:16

Hormones are amazing things. I've been up for the last 3 nights with a rotten cold, and then suddenly this morning it is IMPERATIVE that my house is cleaned till it gleams (which will, frankly, take weeks) I've been scrubbing at my kitchen since 8:00 and haven't even started emptying the cupboards.
Please let me make it to the 20th I've got too much to do to look after a baby as well!

babypowder · 03/12/2006 11:18

Just on that cold, for a minute, is it really OK to take up to 8 paracetemol in 24 hours? I feel like I've been doing nothing but popping pills for the last few days. If I miss a dose, I am completely incapable of doing anything other than sleeping.

Carameli · 03/12/2006 12:41

congrats to calsworl and nearlythere.

I nearly ended up there myself last night. Had a rather scarey few minutes of blurred vision and flashing lights. Was told to come in and be checked, monitored for an hour or so and tests done. Was all fine apart from slight protein 1+ so have o go back tomorrow to day unit to get checked again.
Has anyone else had anything like this. Feel a bit nervous about it all to be honest.
At one point last night my bh's were getting so regular and strong the midwife thought it would not be too long. But I am still at home right now.

weirdbird · 03/12/2006 13:43

Well hubby is beginning to want the baby to arrive as much as I do!

I made him lay half the new kitchen floor yesterday evening

Nesting has kicked in with the desire to finish all the DIY....

annaspanner · 03/12/2006 14:23

Carameli, I totally understand (thanks for asking Oliham!). I really thought I was on the way there. Lotsa pain Thurs and Fri, tried Tens, changed hospital bag outfit(it was already packed so that was all I could do),was just waiting for the contractions to become regular.... then my parents arrived yesterday and I feel great again. What is going on? I'm cleaning, doing some work on the computer (and telling everyone who calls 'no, not yet, we will get in touch when something happens'). I even went out for a big meal last night and had wine for the first time in ages. Maybe this is the final spurt of energy.

As for Lucy, she went in on Friday to get her stitches taken out and register her LO (I'm sure she'll want to tell you all the name herself)-we were going to meet up but it didn't happen but she seems well and happy , just no internet for the time being.

accessorizechristmas · 03/12/2006 20:11

Sounds like we're all getting a bit frustrated on the home stretch...I had horrible, painful cramping right through my lower half & backache for about 3 hours this morning. It was constant rather than intermittent so not BH's (although I've not had any this pg so I wouldn't know really). I was induced and had waters broken last time so I'm not entirely sure what that was about - but ought I to ring a m/w? Subsided gradually & I haven't had anything else today but totally knackered afterwards. Should I just treat this as sign my body's getting ready?
Baileys, is MIL there now?? You've gone all quiet...

accessorizechristmas · 03/12/2006 20:12

Forgot to say, sorry if TMI that it felt like I needed to do an enormous no.2! Is this right?

BaileysMilkshake · 03/12/2006 20:15

Hi All,

No new babies soince yesterday morning then? - I am so of all you 'baby havers'

I had contractions every 10 minutes for about an hour last night accompanied by horrendous leg ache and hearburn, but then it all went quiet.

Went for a walk round the shops today though and ... nothing. Spoke to another mum in the baby changing room who could'nt belive I was out shopping with less than a week till my due date - but to be honest a lot of the time am now forgetting I am PG!

MIl is here......and up til now has been behaving. I made shortbread and biscuits yesterday monring which wer ready just after she arrived and although she has not complimented them she keeps eating them! DH and I are missing our freedom!

DD has a cold which has wiped her out and fell asleep in my arms last night and was away as son as her head hit the pillow tonight.

BaileysMilkshake · 03/12/2006 20:17

AQ - great minds

BaileysMilkshake · 03/12/2006 20:33

BTW -

MIL has also bought her own phone with her - due to apparently not being to hear on ours cos of her hearing aid!! It has no caller ID (digital display) and is really fuzzy and grainy to listen to.

Her cosmetics and toiletries are all over the bathroom.

She keeps telling me how lucky we are with DD - BIL daughter doesnt go straight to sleep etc.

And she keeps sympathising with DD when I am trying to be strict.

And I have got a strong taste of blodd in my mouth from biting my tongue so much!

Other than that tra la la - I am fine!

Carameli · 03/12/2006 21:00

well still hanging on here, get contractions and bad lwoer back pain every now and then but still nothing major hapening. At the day unit tomorrow 8.15 so will hopefully catch up with you all later on.
Feel totally knackered after not much sleep last night, then busy day here(terrible rain brought extension roof leaking) so parents over this afternoon, dad helping dh sort it all out. Oh what fun, luckily its a huge living room so the leaks were in part we have not used at all since moving in.arrrggggg.

Baileys: you have the patience of a saint

good luck to all here tonight, lets keep each other smiling through these frustrating days.

BaileysMilkshake · 03/12/2006 21:16

I have just watched Toby Anstis eat an egg on telly and am off to do a soft - yes, soft boiled egg!!

If bump doesnt like it......should get out...now!

Seriously though I am desperate for one now so can't wait!

summerlovebaby · 03/12/2006 21:48

Ahhh..Baileys..can totally synpathise with you on the MIL front, mine came over once I was back from hospital and I am now on the verge of throwing her out of my 5th floor window! She leaves the following Sunday (10th) and I can hardly wait. She wants to roam around and go shopping all the time, then when I take her all she does is buy stuff and discuss it 20 times before buying it. No, the fact that I am PG to bursting point doesn't matter once she's in the shops. Forget New Year Resolutions, my resolution for next week is NO taking her to shops or I will def go into labour coz of the stress. aaaarrghhh..

phew...so nice to have a rant

summerlovebaby · 03/12/2006 21:50

soft boiled eggg...mmmmmm

mishelfish · 04/12/2006 00:50

hello, am new to this site.
am due 22nd dec, really want him to come a bit early so that i can enjoy christmas without the constant rib ache i seem to have all the time, does anyone else get this? also, have seen so many diffferent midwives throughout pregnancy and dont have ante natal class til this sat, feel a bit unprepared for it all! seem to have been pregnant forever....

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 06:41

Welcome mishelfish. It this your first? A lot of us are quite keen to get LOs out before Xmas on here too!

Congrats Cals and nearlythere.
NT,impressed your sideways stairs worked! It IS left side up first isn't it? Reply if you get a chance!!!!

I can't believe the irony of me sitting here posting at this time of day. My alarm has being going off at 6 for the last 2 and a half years since I returned to work following LAST mat leave. I have never gotton out of bed before 10 past and during this pg my best time has been half past, followed by a very stressy running around to get to work on time.

First day of actual Mat leave(although still on holiday time) I'm wide awake at 5 and up at 6 nursing (or being nursed?) by a large mug of camomile tea. (I know it's prob wishful thinking, because I did similiar just before going into labour with DS1.) I swore to myself I would stay in bed, even if not asleep while I can the chance. Part of my twisted brain is telling me that the reason my lazy body wants to get out of bed is because it's getting ready to produce!!! NOT a chance.

However I'm 37 weeks today and officially start "Operation I'm a Baby -Get me out of here!"

On the subject of Ds1-DS2 pressies. They have bought for one another.(nothing too amazing-i did try to think of something WOW and keepsakey for DS1 to receive, but I've decided to appeal to his three year old tastes rather than my own!)
Still haven't decided about Xmas pressies from DS1/DS2. Probably socks!!!!!

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 06:59

Indie, I've got a similar situation regarding visitors post birth. I really want it to be "just the four of us" for a little while(Half an hour!) I had a mid pg stress about it to DH who said he'd speak to his Mum(mainly) and Dad about it, but hasn't. I can see why he hasn't actually. No point in making a HUGE thing of it, too early.
They're actaully staying with us for the week surrounding our due date so there'll be plenty of opportunities to see DS2. I'm going to try to ensure that DH speaks to them at appropriate time! Or I will. If I do it too early it'll seem like I'm brooding about it(which I am!) and I always got the impression that they thought I had some funny ideas about baby stuff the first time around(No disrespect to first timers, but my MIL put a lot of my opinions down to it being my first time) Well they'll be in for a shock because it's not "first time stuff" IT'S HOW I CHOOSE TO BRING UP CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!She even poo-pooed my baby book, telling me that by the time I had another baby I'd have given up on it(DS1's book),beacause she had. Well babybook 1 is fully updated (bar a third birthday cake photo on DH's camera!) and Babybook two is ready to go!

Sorry I'm ranting a bit!!Must drink my camomile tea! I'm beginning to get a bit stressed that we'll have a repeat of the power struggle between MIL and I over how my kids are raised!

Milkshake BTW You're my hero. Hope the bitten tongue is still holding up!!! Have you tried IL Bingo(from that recent MIL thread?)

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 09:21

Where is everyone at moment? You'd better not all be off having babies!!!!!!

I've got to wait at least one more day as the M/ws are far too busy to hire me my TENS today,so I'll be dragging a "not a morning person" three year old to office tommorrow! DS1 will be full of beans but just not in mood to get dressed on one of his "days off from work". Maybe if I put him to bed in his day clothes tonight!!!Just joking, but .........

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 09:25

Oh and my builder had just popped around so looks like the building work will be starting in the next few weeks!!!!!!

Raining?....pouring doesn't even begin to describe it!!!!
