Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BaileysMilkshake · 29/11/2006 15:12

Yeah - I have had bits of show over the last few weeks - but no blood in any of it, just lots of fiberous mucus - yeuch!

nearlythere · 29/11/2006 15:25

sorry to butt in but loads of people have told me over the years that they haven't had a show or have their waters break- quite often waters can break in the bath because of the change in temp, where its quite easy to miss it! With shows often if it is colourless people mistake it for heavy discharge and again sometimes it doesn't make an apearance until very late into the labour! But on the other hand you can have a show way before your body even thinks of going into labour!! God this midwifery business is tiring- how typical, i can deliver babies with my eyes shut but when it comes to my own i'm a nervous wreck!! It goes to show girls that even if the midwife has kids- don't believe a word she says!! In the last 6 months i have told hundreds of poor unsuspecting women that 'labour isn't as bad as people make out' and 'yes, its painful but its managable' and look at me- PANICING!!!!

castlesintheair · 29/11/2006 15:53

Thanks Olihan. Sound's yucky & hopefully I'll know when it happens. IF it happens.

Does anyone else feel quite grumpy? Maybe it's just being tired & uncomfortable and generally fed-up. Fighting a nasty court case & coping with bouncy DCs doesn't help I suppose. I like what you say Jabber about dealing with a newborn being easier than being preggers. That is what I keep hoping and now you have given me hope

nearlythere · 29/11/2006 16:07

hey castlesintheair - it will happen, then once its over you'll be left with an adorable little newborn, sleepless nights will seem so much easier when there is a purpose!!
I know what you mean about grumpy! do you seem to bite off DH's head when he so much as mutters a word?

satinshoes · 29/11/2006 16:10

I know what you mean castles. I'm tired, a big fed up lump. cant wait for it all to happen as its like being in limbo at the moment.

castlesintheair · 29/11/2006 16:12

Yes nearlythere! I spend all day missing him then when I see him I'm 'orrible. No wonder I never see him!!

annaspanner · 29/11/2006 16:13

Thanks for advice Olihan! You should have seen DP's face when I said we may 'have' to have sex to hurry things along
He has gone so long without and was expecting it to be quite a while before things returned to normal. Think he's thinking the more overdue the better.
And every time I mention pineapples to people I get the 'gosh, that must hurt!' joke

Lucy is back at home and seems well, so maybe you'll all be hearing from her on here before too long.

accessorizequeen · 29/11/2006 16:19

How's the bp now, castles? Is is you or dh that's fighting a court case? Arrrrgh for you. We had to give up on one during the summer as didn't have the money for a barrister, dp still stewing over it I think & I don't blame him. But I wouldn't have liked having it over our heads just as new baby due. I would be grumpy too.
Welcome, nearlythere - wow 3 year old twins & you're having another!!! I like that we've got a pharmacist (spina) and now a midwife on board this group

judemum · 29/11/2006 16:28

also a litigation lawyer here, available to advise on all your legal queries!!

Any plumbers?? I have a leaky radiator.

northernmama · 29/11/2006 16:33

Aarrgh!!! I thought I was gonna be able to start by catching up and leisurely chat unti OBS appt. today....instead my furnace is pooched and its 54 degrees in my house and outside its -30C!!!!!!!!!

A 36+ pregnant woman should NOT have to start her day crawling around her basement floor and begging a repairman to come in immediately!!!

thanks for the vent, I'll have to catch up later

NM

northernmama · 29/11/2006 16:39

JM - I have had a series of panics about it over the last week!! So much so that OBS and I are going to have a talk about it today at appt. I have spent a lot of time recently counting movements...and baby always just makes it...frustrating.

annaspanner · 29/11/2006 16:43

My DP is an electrician and plumber, Judemum(which explains why the work in our house still isn't completely finished...grumble grumble)

castlesintheair · 29/11/2006 16:44

AQ, I haven't had my bp checked for about 3 weeks now but hopefully the court case (it's us against previous landlord - yawn) is helping keep it up I might have to go to court on 16th December. Nice, though I thought having screaming newborn in my arms may get me sympathy votes! My BF is a barrister but unfortunately she's gone to live in Tassie She'd have helped you out. Sorry you had give it up - that must really grate. It becomes a thing of principle doesn't it?
Jude, does your radiator need bleeding? About the only thing I know about plumbing!!

nearlythere · 29/11/2006 16:56

Ahh well ladies- home time for me!! going to face my brood of brats- whatever possessed me to have any more!! No doubt DH will ask how my day's been- i will shout and say well, how do you think its been- 39+ weeks gone and i come home to all these questions!! He really can't win- poor chap, i'll make it up to him- buy him some earplugs maybe?? Have fun and please someone have a baby! i'm starting to wonder if everyone is having phantom pregs!

judemum · 29/11/2006 16:58

think it needs a new tap thingummybob on the side- v old house and v hold radiators. How did we get onto this???!!!!

spinasnowflake · 29/11/2006 17:15

Judemum, lol at indeliable crosses on your back for TENS! Hope the radiator gets sorted!

Anna, with regards orgasims and sex. The two are not linked at moment here either. I'm just glad DH iniated(sp?????) some "loving" as i was getting to the point on my list of induction methods where he was going to begin to feel used. (BTW I am NOT going to be trying ORAL prostoglandins-took me a moment however effective it may be!

Welcome nearlythere! Cool a midwife! I see lots of questions flying in your direction. And I'll apologise in advance for my ranting about my disinterested M/W!

I've being to Boots. bought the clary sage and lavender oils. Promise not to use them(especially cs) til in labour this time.

Olihan,I'm doing rlt tablets as well as tea this time. everyone swears by the tablets, but they're less than half the strength of the tea so I'm dubious. I'm on 2-3 cups of tea(1gram each) and two-three tabs(400mg each) a day because I keep forgetting to take either or I make a cup of tea and let it go cold while on here chatting!

The show(or not show!) was a bit weird. Same consistancy as last time but not bloody as all.Only a bit too so prob wishful thinking on my part.
Speaking of wishful thinking ,I've become adicted to Christmas Foods. I've polished off two pieces of Stollen and a bag of pistachio nuts and bought two mini Xmas puds to keep my energy up in early labour() The package said "source of fibre" and it's so important in pg to stay regular, isn't it? Also when my m/w commented my iron levels had gone up between blood tests, I put it down to the dark chocolate. She agreed bless her! ......Then looked like she was about to fall asleep.

castlesintheair · 29/11/2006 17:15

I put everything down to being pg JM ... wandering mind problems/memory loss etc. Will it ever return????

spinasnowflake · 29/11/2006 17:23

X-ed posts nearlythere (and obviously you've gone home) but are you still working? Respect. Are you going on mat leave this week?

I've got my last day tommorrow. Hooray, although skipping around on Monday talking about my 6mth "holiday" won me no friends!

Olihan with regards to induction methods, I was tempted to go on the very tall bumpy slide at indoor play warehouse on Saturday. Asked my Dh if it was very bumpy in a bringing on labour kind of way. He saw sense on my behalf thankfully.

But in two weeks time I'll be 38+3 days and I might just have to do it!

jabberwocky · 29/11/2006 18:03

Sorry everyone is having such a bad day. Things are rather interesting over here atm - baby is fine btw! But my yard is currently being dug up b/c of a seewage line issue, ds1 has a virus and dh has an eye infection (he got it from me - I had these demon mommy red eyes the whole time I was in hospital).
Of course I am sooo paranoid that baby will get sick and then Dh is due for a TV interview on Frid.ay regarding his latest art show. ARGHHHHH!!! I just want to shut myself up in the nursery.

Just have to remember to obsessively wash hands after cuddling ds1 and remind dh to use his drops.

Still, it's nice not running to pee every 10 minutes.

That reminds me - must do some pelvic floor exercises

ELM · 29/11/2006 18:12

Hi guys, sorry no posts for a little while, spent another night in hospital, but all ok...then came down with gross tummy bug.
(feeling sorry for myself emoticon)

Good Luck tomorrow Magnolia!

Hope everyone is well....am trying to catch up on all the posts now...... could be here for quite some time!

nearlythere · 29/11/2006 18:25

back at home and straight on the pc!! Yep still working but resigned to paperwork only!! i tend to get ever so slightly narky with new mums whinging about sore boobs and lack of sleep! I'm working until my waters break!! we figured that i'm in the right place for it and i can be home in a matter of ten minutes as soon as things get underway! I think my collegues wish i have gone on ML already but sitting at a desk playing on the web (especially now i've found you lot!) is a lot more relaxing than dealing with two overexcited 3 year olds bouncing around at home!

ELM · 29/11/2006 18:33

Nearlythere: I said I would work until my waters broke...they broke at 27 weeks!

Jabber sounds like you are having a nightmare of a day! Hope the sewage line isn't too smelly!

nearlythere · 29/11/2006 18:36

ohh while i'm here has anyone found a comfortable and safe way of driving in late preg? by the time i've got the seat back far enough to fit the bump in, only my toes reach the pedals! I think its time to employ a chauffeur or at least get DH running around after me!
Also like to mention that men get it so easy! i'm still at work but he's already on leave (from the forces, so diff to most jobs i suppose!!) Still, making the most of it- he's learnt to use the washer, dryer and dishwasher so far, but the dyson was just too much!!!!!!!

weirdbird · 29/11/2006 18:40

Sadly dublindee his boss left on Friday and at the moment doesnt have one, and he works in a high security building which has mobile shields so that isn't going to work

Castles we are booked into St.Peters but I am the wrong side of the river so just hope the floods don't get any worse "eeek"!!
Richmond is about halfway home for DH...

nearlythere · 29/11/2006 18:40

ELM- God 27 weeks- hows things been going since? I figure the longer i can stretch out being pregnant the longer i have certain excuses- such as i'm too tired/aching/sore/hormonal/hungry!! once babs is out you are suddenly expected to turn in to superwoman with glowing cheeks and beaming smile
