Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

BaileysMilkshake · 28/11/2006 22:28

Congratulations Calmriver - I am just so at all those of you who now have your bubs. I am still not due till a week on Saturday - and as DD was 10 days late - the earliest I can probably expect is my due date.

Heartburn is awful today, and dinner was pretty mild too.

DH's aunt - who is my sanity in his family has bought loads of clothes - and knitted too. But some are obviously girl and other boy. But we'll see what we get to use when bump arrives. The last 'coloured' was a 'Pineapple' romper with matching hat. She said she liked it cause it had all the colours -which it does - but main is pink, Pineapple is for girls really, is'nt it!

castlesintheair · 28/11/2006 22:56

Wow, congratulations to Calmriver! Hope you are feeling well and welcome to the world Amberli Rose

Now, who's next

Olihan · 28/11/2006 23:07

Clamriver, congratulations!! Hope you and Amberli-Rose are doing well, we're looking forward to all the details when you have a spare minute (about 2024, I should think!).

Really hope everything is alright with Eli and her baby, and that her BP is behaving itself.

Unless someone pops tomorrow I think Magnolia will be next, then a head to head race between Anna and Calsworld!!

Well, I finished my Christams shopping tonight, dh and I went up to our local shopping centre for a couple of hours while my aunt babysat ds and dd. My bump is now aching like mad though, it's a surprisingly long way from one end of the mall to the other! I also bought all the bits and pieces for my labour bag so it feeld like I'm making some headway into the 1001 things that need to be done before baby arrives!!

Hope everyone else is doing okay, not long to go folks!

BaileysMilkshake · 28/11/2006 23:11

Hi Oli - I have a properly finished hospital bag for me and baby now too. DH had put it together for me a while ago after beeing scared by a string of strong BH's.

But at the weekend we bought some Capri-Sun and ceral bars, which I had to fit in as well.

BTW how many nappies are those of you hopping to be in and out of hospital without complication taking with you?? I though 8 as that's normally the amount for 24 hour period!

Ooh have just remembered a towel for bump as well >

satinshoes · 28/11/2006 23:15

Hi Milkshake,

I have capri-suns and cereal bars to pack at the last minute too

I'm taking about 10 nappies. Although even if in for 1 day DH gets kicked out for a 2 hour period in the afternoon so could always fetch some from home.

Olihan · 28/11/2006 23:37

I've packed 10, same thinking as satin, that someone else can bring spares if necessary! Haven't got a towel for baby though, can't remember if I needed one last time. I'm sure they were provided then. Oh well, got my birth plan appointment tomorrow so will ask mw!

satinshoes · 28/11/2006 23:49

I've put a towel in for me and bump, just in case. Hoping my stay isnt particularly long though. I was in for a week with DD

calsworld · 29/11/2006 02:55

Hi guys, congrats to jabber and calmriver...hope all is well with you both and your lo's.

Well...I had a show yesterday afternoon and I've had bad backache getting steadily worse and feel like I've got quite bad period pains...also am having a strong contraction about every hour or so....don't know if this is it or not...but I've got the tens on just in case (it says put it on at very first sign....hope battery lasts!!!) and I can't sleep so thought i'd do a little post...wondered if anyone was around!

Guess not. It is silly o'clock.

Been really busy since the weekend when mum and dad came to visit - lovely to see them as last time was in June! You'd think they were abroad, not in Norfolk!

Anyway, birth pool is set up and kind of ready to go if this is it....it arrived slightly damaged, there is a tear between the rings but it is useable - they are delivering a replacement tomorrow so just have to hope that either that arrives before things get moving here or that we don't puncture the damn thing as there will be a flood!!!

There's a lot of me that wants this to be it and a bit that says its not because I want it to be so much...I guess its just a case of wait and see...so many of the girls on Nov thread have been going through this for ages...whilst for others once it starts that seems to be it...wonder which camp I'm in?

Ohhh...keep your fingers crossed for me coz I don't want to be doing this too often, I'm knackered but can't sleep.

jabberwocky · 29/11/2006 04:46

Huge congrats, CR! I love the name.

cw - how exciting!!! Keep us posted if you can.

Maybe we should rename our thread "December babies - the ones that just can't wait to get here"

Loulou. look ar it this way, at least at 39 you won't be buying an entire extra layette like I did Poor little ds2 only has a few onesies that are still too big but at least not huge while we wait for the new things to arrive. It is odd that the dr.just now figured it out

spina, by all means Another Kiernan on the December thread would be lovely!

ss and judemum, if you feel you want to be seen more, just give them the 3rd trimester hysterical pg woman attitude...It's always worked for me.

Indith - A find like that - especially now - is better than sex!

caramelli - I had loads of trouble sleeping when pg. It's actuaaly more preferable taking care of a newborn

calsworld · 29/11/2006 05:04

Hi Jabber, hope you're still there..

I went back to bed for a bit, but still can't sleep which isn't really like me at all...back ache is still strong and having occasional strong contractions, but not convinced....how long does it bugger about for before getting regular or going away? I think the tens machine is helping...especially when I have a contraction.

At least DH is still sleeping so he won't be grumpy in the morning!

C

jabberwocky · 29/11/2006 06:31

Hey, cw, I went down for a short nap between feedings - night here, you know.

Unfortunately, I'm not a good one to ask as far as contractions go. mine with ds1 never really went anywhere. course he was breech, so it wound up being a good thing.

So you are probably excited, scared and above all really uncomfortable about now, eh?

dublindee · 29/11/2006 07:50

Hi Calsworld!
Wow, sounds like you could be in very early labour alright but don't fret. It can take AGES yet. With Matthew I started with a show around 2pm Thursday afternoon and things didn't really start to kick off until Friday 6pm after I had a curry and went for long walk with DP round the lanes at back of our house. Keep active and eat pineapple and you might be able to shoo it along a bit!

castlesintheair · 29/11/2006 08:35

I didn't sleep much either. Really bad backache, period pains but no show ... not that I know what a "show" is like. Anyone care to enlighten me? You'd think I might know about these things by now ...

Good luck Calsworld, if you are in labour Sound's like it could be the start of things. Also, Magnolia, GOOD LUCK tomorrow, will be thinking of you and look forward to hearing the news.

calsworld · 29/11/2006 08:37

Hi...i'm knackered! Had a couple of hours of light dozing in between contractions...they're still quite strong...but not so that I couldn't talk through them if I wanted to, and not regular...DH is working from home today and my replacement birth pool is due this morning (proper organised, me!).

I hope this isn't some kind of wicked joke coz I just lost virtually a whole nights sleep. Off to rest, although feel like I should be trying to keep active not easy...perhaps if I can get some sleep this morning we'll try for a walk...the dog will appreciate it if nothing else!

Will keep you posted as best I can - keep your fingers crossed for me that it doesn't all go away!

C

castlesintheair · 29/11/2006 08:40

Good luck Calsworld. Sound's like this really is it. Will be thinking of you

satinshoes · 29/11/2006 08:48

Good luck calsworld. Sounds like it may be it! Might take ages though so rest as much as you can.

I had a major bout of insomnia last night and realise i was cleaning the crumbs out of the bread bin at midnight

BaileysMilkshake · 29/11/2006 09:26

Thinking of you calsworld- hope thing make a definite shift in to high gear for you soon. So jealous - thinkning of going to bounce of DD's min trampoline to see if that helps. My finacial advisor suggested digging!

DD has just gone to pre-school and I should be taking the oppertunity for a nap. A friend is taking us to some shops later for a browse - just to get me and DD out of the house really. have to snaffle my credit card back out of DH's wallet - I surrendered it of my own volition! But thought I would check in to see the latest news

Dont think I'll find much to spend on - but it's always the times you go unprepared that you find loads - am going to look for lavendar muscle soak if nothing else (a PG friendly one) - as according to SIL it bought on her labour. May also get a pineapple or two... And seek out some raspberry leaf tea...desperate moi?

annaspanner · 29/11/2006 09:38

Morning all
Congratulations to jabber and Calmriver! It's all kicking off.
And good luck Calsworld!
It's interesting to hear that your Tens is helping-it was the first thing I bought and hasn't been taken out of it's case in months -maybe we should try it out.
I'm off to the doctors this morning to have checks and be monitored and stuff. Due date is Friday but no signs yet....

calsworld · 29/11/2006 09:51

Anna, the tens is a funny thing, in between contractions I want it on quite a gentle pulse, but then when i have a contraction and press the boost button, i need to whack the strength up a bit and then turn it down again when it goes back to pulse mode. The instructions i got said to put it on as soon as you think you might be in labour, even if you're not...so that's what i did and i hope it carries on being useful...next step is the birth pool and i think that's for a lot later on than where i am now!

I would recommend getting it out and having a little play with it, DH had to put it on me at 2.00 this morning and it was def. a bonus that we'd both looked at it together and knew what to do, where to put it etc, he doesn't wake up well at the best of times!

But knowing my luck this will all carry on for another week or so and you'll be holding your lo well before me! The contractions are very far apart now so am going to try and snooze inbetween them and build some strength before going for a stroll later this afternoon.

Take care,
Cal

accessorizequeen · 29/11/2006 10:26

Calmriver, congrats!!! Beautiful name for your lo, hope all is well & we hear from you soon.
Jabber, can't believe you're replying to all these posts, get some sleep woman!!! How is DS1 reacting so far?
Tens advice v.useful, I picked up a loan machine from surestart yesterday (for a fiver, bargain) but didn't use one last time. Can't practice until 38 weeks though (Saturday)
Cals, hope it's kicking off now & that's why you're not on. I was up late, couldn't sleep, but missed you by an hour I think! Reading the new Rankin/Rebus still
I had proper lie in this morning as DP didn't wake me on way to work & DS at mum's overnight - absolutete bliss, I just got up! Have come down with cold & asthma quite a bit worse, so guess I needed some sleep as I don't get it at night. Have just dyed my hair so I feel a bit less elephant woman coming up to the last couple weeks. I have packed my bag (bump's today) which made me feel v.cheered. What are capri-suns though?? I was going to pack 2 dozen nappies just in case, perhaps I should downgrade? Also mum found a moses basket & stand for 8 pounds at charity shop yesterday so finally have something for bean to sleep in in our bedroom, just have to get new mattress, sheets etc.
magnolia, good luck for tomorrow ((hugs))

BaileysMilkshake · 29/11/2006 10:38

Hi AQ - lucky you for the lie-in

Capri-Sun is a pouch drink so it fits easily in your hospital bag. A box of 10 is about £2.

As the general consensus is a dozen, I am going to squash 2 more nappies in bumps bag as we as a towel. Our hospital doesnt give anything easily!

Just have to wash my jogging bottoms so I have clothes to come home in and then I am good to go.

Have to write a list for DD's just-in-case MIL has'nt arrived yet bag so she can go to a friend. But it's about 72 hours to MIL arrivals so not such a priority anymore.

Decided to write a birth plan this time and actualy hand it to the mW when I get to the labour ward, as last time it stayed in the bag. And I got confined to the bed - on my back and DH was not asked if he wanted to cut the cord - which he did!

However both of us are bgining to wonder if baby will ever get here - despite 10 days still to go till due date! Sometime we even forget we a re PG - apart from my large tummy.

Am sitting very un-lady-like these days in an attempt to open my pelvis etc.

spinasnowflake · 29/11/2006 11:16

Congrats Calm! Beautiful name.Very very

Cal,Sounds like you're on your way. Good luck. Rest if you can. Very very !

Good luck Magnolia for tommorrow. Very very !

I see a pattern developing

Had my 36 wk m/w appointment on Monday with my very bored M/W. Don't see her again til 40 weeks(which I pointed out was xmas day!) so two days after. I sweetly told her I was hoping I wouldn't be making that appointment. We are supposed to discuss Stretch and sweep for the following week. I'm not waddling into an appointment to discuss anappointment. I'm going to insist she "sweeps" me there and then. If all fails she's booking me in for an induction at 42 weeks(no discussion or asking me if I want to be induced?)

I've started my own labour inducing here. Raspberry tea AND the tablets, bought a pineapple, eating tinned papaya(sp?),sex(for the first time in months!),orgasims, started thinking about buying some clary sage(and I swore I wouldn't use it this time as I think it stressed DS1 in utereo!)

Reminds me must phone an accupunturist(sp?)

Quick question! Is the show always bloodstained? I was stretched and swept last time so expected the bloody mess that ensued!(sorry grim!) I'm trying to work out of the blobby discharge(really sorry TMI) I've noticed is
a) increased discharge as mentioned in pg books
b) the beginning of a show
c) something to do with recent "martial relations"

weirdbird · 29/11/2006 11:42

This sounds silly in some ways, but is anyone else worried that there DH won't make it home from work in time?

I have visions of driving myself plus DD to the hospital...

spinasnowflake · 29/11/2006 11:57

I tried to contact Dh on Monday to ask him to pick DS up from nursery and despite two messages and lots of missed calls, DH knew nothing of my need to contract him!!!!

So it got me thinking...............

That being said I got a taxi to hospital last time anyway and because "the books said" first labour are long,DH finished his meeting (lots of bemused collegues saying, "ermmmm, SpinaDaddy shouldn't you go to be with Spina while she's in labour?!) and he joined me numberous hours later!!(the actual number of hours have being erased from my mind in the general blur of labour!)

I'm hoping we get some warning(a few days of contractions or something like that-oh bugger I'm already having those) and DH checks his phone a bit more--may have a quiet word in his ear about that one!

judemum · 29/11/2006 12:02

OMG- congratulations Calm- POST MORE POST MORE POST MORE PURLEEEASEEE, but when you have more imte of course .

Cals- excited for you- makes me nervous and excited hearing all these stories!!! Hope all going well.

YES- wb and Spina- Its quite possible I will not be able to get hold of my DH when I go into labour. Its worrying and I too have visions of me trying to drop DS1 off somewhere safe and then doing a 45 minute dirve to the hospital on my own........excellent! Something to look forward to. And how will I manage to operate my TENS machine whilst driving??!

My sleeping is (amazingly for me) but feet sweeling like mad and hard to get shoes on. They're not the prettiest of feet andyway so look more like large slabs of pink meat complete with chipped nail polish. Another piece of my body to hide...
