Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

LouLou, it is a PITA to delay but it is probably best for your LO to keep it cooking a bit longer. Try & lie around as much as possible and don't do anything too strenuous. I'm 38 weeks now and won't have my section until 39+1 (next weds). My other 2 have been at 38 weeks and I'm having quite violent BH on & off plus other weird pains so I just hope I can hang in there as going into labour with a tranny baby would be a nightmare. Especially as I can see myself having to drive to hospital with my DCs in tow . Trying not to think about that. Or the c-section. Dunno why it's bothering me so much this time ... maybe because everyone keeps saying "Really you are having a 3rd c-section, that's really risky etc etc". Thanks a bunch, its bit bloody late to be telling me that now!!!

Loulou000 · 28/11/2006 15:37

Castles, why have they booked you in at 39+ when your others have been earlier than that? Will they do an emergency CS if there are signs of labour before then?

Hmm, indeed, not much point telling you that at this point, is there!

Hi LouLou. I wonder (after reading about other people on this thread with planned c-sections) if it is an administrative thing. The same hospital wanted me to have DD 4 weeks early because they were going to be busy 1-2 weeks before her due date Fortunately I was told this and put my foot down. I will have an emergency if I go into labour as there is no way a transverse baby can come out naturally. Will just try and keep my legs crossed until next week

northernmama · 28/11/2006 16:27

Babypowder: Yep Alberta all right!! And you're right, its damn cold here just now!! Up near Edmonton where its a balmy -25 Celsius today and more snow ahead. Last year at this time there was no snow and short sleeved shirts..... sorry for the hijack -- will catch up on the thread now.

satinshoes · 28/11/2006 16:37

Hi All,

Just got back from 38wk appt. M/W says head is still low down but not engaged. All fine. They dont see me now for another 2 weeks - the day before my due date. I kind of expected at least weekly....

northernmama · 28/11/2006 16:40

Wow lots of news in a short period of time! Congrats to Jabberwocky - always good to hear another safe arrival...

You know it wouldn't be so bad if the BH's weren't every time I got active. I mean even a mad dash to the loo brings them on theselast few days. And I think I lost the mucus plug too... see my OBS tomorrow. The more I hope for an earlier arrival the less likely it is though....

SS - sorry to hear that I thought they'd see you next week too....

judemum · 28/11/2006 16:42

Satin- I'm the same- 2 weekly. annoying!!

satinshoes · 28/11/2006 16:45

I dont think they're bothered with you at all 2nd time around. I'm also meausring small - 36cm at 38 wks - which is know isnt that much but as DD was 5lb12oz I was told at the start of this PG they'd keep an eye on me near the end, and they seem to have forgotten that.

weirdbird · 28/11/2006 17:29

Babies, bring on the babies "g"

Jabber really please to here that you where so much happier this time around, am hoping my 2nd experience wont mirror my first as well.

Am very happy to say that all my frantic prayers & optimal positioning was worth it, baby was back with head down at the scan today "phew"

Second good news was that although baby has grown over the last 4 weeks exactly as expected my bump is still the same size..

Woohooo

This means that they are a lot less worried, as measuring 4 weeks big is a lot different to 8/9 weeks big. So I no longer have to do the 999 if my waters break at home as the chances are there wont be the epic flood they were worried about
taking the cord out in front of the baby.

They still advice strongly against a home birth, but I should still be able to have an active labour etc

Feel like a huge weight has been lifted, obviously there is still a slim chance that the baby might have a problem but it is a much smaller chance and they are a lot less concrened, than they where.

Loulou000 · 28/11/2006 17:43

Great news WB.

Congratulations Calmriver. Welcome to the worls Amberli-rose

dublindee · 28/11/2006 19:35

Oh wow, congrats to Jabber and Calmriver on the birth of your lovely little babies.
Gorgeous names too btw - nothing weird like Twig or Cloud which is good!
I'm so of you both!

Had antenatal appointment today and they checked to see if I had a "favourable" cervix for induction - it wasn't.
Doc was really good and said didn't advise going ahead now as being overweight and not being favourable 90% likely to end in c-section.
He spotted on the notes I had a toddler and said "you're prob trying to avoid that yeah?"
I agreed so he said to see how heavy my small horse is - I'll have a scan in the next few days to measure the weight and then they'll decide.
He reckons MW is wrong about it being a small horse and he's estimating same weight as Matthew which was manageable at 9lbs 1oz as a first-timer ...just.
Either way the scan will be more accurate and we can decide from there.

Annaspanner - Femepads are like gel filled sachets that you put in the freezer.
You're given lint sleeves that are disposable and you put them on your maternity pad so it numbs any pain you have down there from stitches bruising etc.
Sounds icky but you can wash the pads in warm sudsy water to clean them and they really relieve the pain - TRUST ME!
You get em in Boots or most other big pharmacies.

As for Christmas cards, we had this issue 2 weeks ago when my sis came over from Dublin to bring back all the pressies and cards.
We had narrowed it to 2 favourite names (Christopher or Thomas) but had to decide as we couldn't sign "Bump" so we chose the one we have been inclined to use first and went with that. I just hope it suits him when he arrives!

Indith · 28/11/2006 19:36

Congratulations!

Indith · 28/11/2006 19:41

Had a very exciting day, walked into one of the many charity shops around here while shopping for panto props and saw a whole rack of lovely baby clothes! Obviously someone who didn't know what colour they were having as started off all in creams etc then slightly bigger sizes were boys' clothes but fantastic stuff! Got a big bag of lots of little tops and romper suits and some great little dungarees for £10!

Still looking for some sort of baby carrying device for a doll and an oil can though! And currently putting shed loads of paper mache on a huge trunk! Those pram delivery boxes have come in useful!

dublindee · 28/11/2006 19:51

I got down the teeny baby clothes this morning and started going through them. Sooooooo cute. Can't believe my DS ever fitted into something that size. Where have the past 21 months gone?

babypowder · 28/11/2006 20:28

Congratulations, Calm!

Northernmama, I don't miss the winters at all! My DH often says that he would trade Alberta seasons (where it is REALLY cold, and then pretty HOT) for the living-in-tupperware British climate. I reckon 1 week of -40 windchill, icicles hanging off his nose cold would stop all of that! Not to mention the terrible dust storms in the summer. I miss the big sky, though.

I had a scan yesterday to check for anaemia in the baby as a result of my sensitisation. Thankfully, everythings looking great, no hydrops or anything, so we're going ahead at 38 weeks. Only one more blood test before then, so I'm much less worried about being rushed in. I'll be glad when its all over.

northernmama · 28/11/2006 21:26

Babypowder.... you really shouldn't miss the weather, it is actually -28 today with a windchill taking it to -40!!!!!!!!! Froze my knackers off even with lots of layers!!! The worst part is that I have to go out again tonight because I promised hubby that we could go on a date!!!

BP- are you having a section? From the sounds of things you are...

northernmama · 28/11/2006 21:33

I bought the cutest little knitted sweater the other day! It is so tiny, I almost can't believe that it might fit this newest addition.

I have brought out the babiest of the clothes, but will wait to see if its a boy or a girl before I pull out all the pink or blue things I have from the other kids.

I've been following the thread about MIL's etc.... both hubby's parents and my own live within 15 minutes of us... it's really great as we can have someone here quickly when it's time for the baby, but by the same token, they can ALL be here within about 15 minutes ANYTIME too....

And while I love them all, they are all a little bit crazy about the baby (and in a lovely way, in general as well). I already have to hear from everyone every day "just in case"-- I'm 36 1/2 weeks, not due any second FCS!!!!

babypowder · 28/11/2006 22:10

Yup, having a section. DD was delivered by emergency CS 3 days after my waters broke - and only after they delivered her did they declare that frankly I shouldn't have gone for a VB in the first place. Thanks, guys!

This time it is more complicated with the sensitisation issue, but at least I know that I couldn't have done anything differently.

Hate the whole 'too posh to push' thing you get when you say you're having a planned section

Carameli · 28/11/2006 22:14

congrats Calmriver
hope all is well with you and the baby.....

does anyone else have real trouble sleeping, I dread nights at the moment, find it so hard to sleep whatever I do. Also plagued with heartburn one minute and nausea the next. Can't wait to get this whole thing done with now.
