Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

Am panicking like mad

Its my Consultant appt tomorrow to sort out whats going on with the too much amniotic fluid, will they induce, can I still have an active birth etc etc and after last week stupid MW's poking, bump has moved back into breech "I could cry" and scream and shout...

I know that this will now be the focus, rather than me trying to hang onto someting of the home, water birth we had been planning.

Anyone know how likely bump is to move back again now at 36 weeks????

Have also been suffering terribly with BH (or hope they are) all weekend.

Rant rant rant

Gloria42 · 27/11/2006 10:04

WB, I am 36 weeks tomorrow and my LO is still moving about like mad, side to side, up & down. I've no idea how it's sitting just now, it can't seem to make up it's mind which way is comfy!

judemum · 27/11/2006 10:06

WB- don';t know what to say, except, can't you use the next few weeks to do the exercises etc which will help baby move back into the head down position and not let the m/w allow the appointment to be monopolised by talking about the position.
You still have 4 weeks- bump can obviously get into the right position, so you just get m/w's advice on how to help baby do just that and not let go of your home birth just yet.......??

weirdbird · 27/11/2006 10:15

Sadly Judemum the appt is with the Consultant as my HB is already out the window, I have too much fluid around the baby and they are worried about TOFs (baby has to have tests the moment its born etc..)

They are going to want to monitor me anyway and was hoping to argue for a active birth etc as I had such a quick natural birth first time around

My concren with the time is that

a) there was talk they might induce me early anyway as I am so huge
b) with excess fluid the chances are you dont go to term

So I may not have the time to get baby "to" turn, it was in breech before and I did all the exercises and spent forever on my knees and it did eventually turn, but it took about 2 weeks and having done all this once its why i am so annoyed at the MW for interfering

lubella · 27/11/2006 10:22

Judemum that is a good idea - Christmas officially begins now for me...
Is anyone else ridiculously out of breath?

BaileysMilkshake · 27/11/2006 10:26

WB - ((Hugs)) - dont know what to say. Thinkning of you!

Talking of Christmas card those of you who have written them - have you put anything down from your baby? I have written Christmas tags on gifts from Me, DH, DD and 'baby'. But not sure if I like that for all my Christmas cards. In fact might not send any this year because of that. depending on the time left afterwards.

Had to re-pack hospital bag yesterday as DH bought some juice and cereal bars - in case we get hungry - told him MW has promised a 3 hour labour so in that case, eat before we leave and and pick McDonalds up on the way home! Besdies last time as the babies head was crowing they bought him in a cup of tea and dairylea on toast! I was just allowed water

satinshoes · 27/11/2006 10:31

lubella. i'm short of breath all the time. partly down to asthma but partly down to no room for lungs i think..

weirdbird · 27/11/2006 10:33

Thanks Milkshake

I had the same dilemma over Xmas Cards and have written most of them, but not posted them and left the envelopes un-sealed for the moment, then if bump arrives in the next 2 weeks I can stick a birth announcement in with them, otherwise have just written them from us

annaspanner · 27/11/2006 10:45

Lol Milkshake-is it true you get a cuppa after birth too, or is that just DH? That sounds great...wonder what we get here in Spain?

castlesintheair · 27/11/2006 10:45

Morning everyone!

(((HUGS))) AQ. Know exactly how you are feeling.

Eli - WHERE ARE YOU???? OK, I know you are in hospital but I have been thinking about you all weekend and hope everything has gone well

Jabber, you've gone very quiet. Do you have some news?????? Hope you are ok

Whoever was asking about things to do to pre-baby (sorry can't remember much at mo), my advice is if you can, sleep and lie around doing eff all as you won't have much chance to do so soon!!

Masses of cr to get on with so catch up with all later. Only 1 week to go on Wednesday for me!!

accessorizequeen · 27/11/2006 11:06

I too am desperate to hear how things went with Eli. and surely now there are at least 3 babies, there should be postnatal thread by now, haven't heard a thing from bewilderbeast or maroon have we??
Judemum, I'm ooooop north too (Hull) tho originally from durrn south (Australia)...
Lubella/Satinshoes, my breathing (down to asthma) too out of control, I can't brush my teeth at night without huffing & puffing now, even reading ds a story takes my breath away. I think I'll ask for some steroids this week from gp as hard to do decent breathing in labour surely?
Anna, I'm curious whether it was you or dh that gave your mil a key???? Can your dh not make any headway with her or do you think you have to be ruder? Twould really get on my nerves by now.
WB, hope the appt with consultant goes well!
Baileys, have you never left dd with MIL then? Is it because your SIL's new dc so little? My ds has stayed o'night with my mum every week since he was 5 months as I was struggling so much & it made a world of difference (although it was rather forced upon me by dp/mum). Maybe that's just what your sil needs too?
Right, ds at nursery (screamed as I left him, just to make me feel nice & guilty about it) so I guess I'd better pack that bag. Or read the new Ian Rank on the sofa!

accessorizequeen · 27/11/2006 11:08

That wld be Ian Rankin (birthday gift, yay).

judemum · 27/11/2006 11:21

AQ- read the Ian Rankin. I would.
Nice to hear there';s a few of us that live in the North. I went to Uni in Hull and have very fond memories of Spiders night club (first time I saw 2 people bonking in public- a classy place) and LAs (although they probably no longer exist!).

Loulou000 · 27/11/2006 11:26

Poor AQ, just read your post from last week and how you are or were feeling sounds quite familiar. For me, stopping working was a bit unsettling and all of a sudden I didn't have that tiring routine to take my mind off the whole having a baby thing. Then it all came crashing down along with the weirdness of not really seeing other people as much. I've been doing a lot of feeling too overwhelmed to tackle anything. I hope you are feeling better by now and have decided whether to seek help.

satinshoes · 27/11/2006 11:41

AQ - Doc gave me a preventer a few weeks ago. it worked to start with but seem to be getting puffier as the days go on.

Indith · 27/11/2006 12:13

Ooooh Milkshake will try that line!

AQ and Jude Hull is my home town! And Jude LAs and Spiders still exist in all their glory. Never did join the queues of tiny black dresses outside LAs but Spiders was my usual haunt for a night out. Ah the cheap shots and pink fluffy drinks!

accessorizequeen · 27/11/2006 12:28

Haven't been to spiders since a postnatal get-together more than 2 years ago, hangover from hell. Can't believe the building still stands, quite frankly! Indith, I think your clubbing memories a bit more recent than mine as you are 23 to my 37 (arrgggh).
Thanks Castles & Loulou, I am feeling quite a lot better largely thanks to this group! DP pointed out I had too much time on my hands to think about things. We spent day in York yesterday, ice skating (well, not me), National Railway Museum seeing Santa & I felt fine coz I was so busy! I have been tidying for a while, but Rankin calls me now, I think not to mention the mars duo I have in the fridge (totally addicted). STILL haven't packed bag, what is wrong with me & I've just eaten one of the packets of starbursts I bought to take to hospital.
Satin, I've been taking double dose of my preventer (becatide) as you would with a cold, but still not making any difference. Consultant advised me small dose of steroids would be fine, and I needed to get breathing under control. Seems worse from 5pm for me, how bout you, must be night-time air or something.

Indith · 27/11/2006 12:34

perhaps AQ but if you went 2 years ago you may well have darkened the doors of Spiders more recently than me! Visits to Hull are reserved for parental visiting!

accessorizequeen · 27/11/2006 12:36

Not the unique and world-famous The Deep??
Spiders not what it was. Or is it me? Pangalactic gargle blaster doesn't have the same appeal anymore...

Indith · 27/11/2006 12:38

Ooooh yes I do love The Deep

I think spiders had more appeal when I was underage and taking advantage of the liberal door policy!

accessorizequeen · 27/11/2006 12:46

You won't like deep so much when you have season ticket & take ds there EVERY month for 2 years!!!! I am sooooo sick of it now!!! But of course ideal wet weather entertainment...
Never went to spids under-age, but I can see the appeal

Indith · 27/11/2006 12:47

Lol possibly not!

judemum · 27/11/2006 14:07

Indith/AQ- wow!! Who would have thought we all had this connection?! I was (in my yoof) one of those girls in black mini dresses freezing my bits off to get into LAs and would then go up to the top floor to "chill" to the R&B/soul music whilst downing the snake bite and blacks and puffing on my Malboro lites.... The Tower was another place we use to go to and in fact i met a significant ex there...ohhhh the memories!
AQ- where in York is the best place to go to meet santa? Really want to take DS1 before baby arrives....

accessorizequeen · 27/11/2006 14:12

Oh jude, wish I had said before - we went to the Railway Museum, there was a special old time Xmas thing on the weekend but only last weekend unfortunately. I read about it a few months ago & thought it might be fun. You could try the Yuletide York website though - there's a Santa's grotto at Castle Howard which might be nice? I thought I might take DS to our local farm shop santa as well, not so mad as city centre things.

judemum · 27/11/2006 15:21

oohh- thanks for the link. Might have to do one of those this coming weekend!
