Maybe this will really be the last one... until the postnatal one.

dublindee: How have you managed to shave??? I tried but was exhausted after 2 minutes and gave up

I have stood and done 2 hours of ironing today but still have the same amount left to go I will get it done before Thursday!!!!

Dh has cooked dinner and put kids to bed though so I think I got the bes deal

dublindee · 26/11/2006 21:45

I'd love a cuppa but am NOT going downstairs to get it, I'll never manage to get up them again!

dublindee · 26/11/2006 21:46

Magnolia - Do the knees to ankles first then take a half hour break lying on bed with fan on to recover - then do the tops (if they need it - mine do!) and get DP/DH to help with hard to reach areas!

BaileysMilkshake · 26/11/2006 21:52

DublinDee - do you know what you;re having? I ams till hung on this not having to shave legs as much if it's a girl thing - and Magnolia - I know you;re having a boy.

By the way I can managed min in the shower (which is in the bath - not a cubicle - if I rest the leg I am shaving on DD's bathroom step.

Never had to do the tops really.

dublindee · 26/11/2006 22:02

Yep it's a boy.

Doesn't matter if I'm pg or not tho I've always had to shave after a few (2-3) days as I'm dark and it's quite coarse. Have to say tho was very lazy this pg and last one so left it WAY longer than I should to shave!

This way at least I plan to give em a quick whizz in the shower each morning to keep atop of the situation. It's taken me a week to get up the motivation to shave em tho! (hadn't done em in nearly 3 months and was like a werewolf!)

BaileysMilkshake · 26/11/2006 22:07

Am so confused - I was so sure this was a boy - damn that PG programme for commenting on that wives tale. Not that I mind what I am having - but...oh I dont know!

Did anyone see the 'lady garden' thread a while back - made me giggle at the time, but now my labour is due any day I am begining to wonder "Have I done enough?"

BaileysMilkshake · 26/11/2006 22:15

Knew I had something that was bothering me - I have another of those red sore spots on my boob again. This time on the top. Have been plastering on the sudocreme as with the other one and it seems less angry - am I still alone in getting these?

Indith · 26/11/2006 22:22

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

What ever happened to my mother daying things along the lines of "i won't interfere dear my mother did it and I don't want to do the same to you"?

She and my dad came to visit for the day today, brounght more baby stuff and other bits and pieces, very nice (curtains she has made for Bump's room are so cute). She then comes out with "I've not taken on any work until the end of January so I can be free to offer my services to come and stay for a week or so and cook and clean while you concentrate on baby"

Now I love my mum but really! Does she not think that possibly 2 tired out new parents, a tiny baby and her good self might not get a little bit on top of each other in a flat that consists of 2 bedrooms and a living/dining/kitchen?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Indith · 26/11/2006 22:26

Now that is out of the way

Leg shaving-Just about managable but only in the bath not the shower, the LO hates me bending over and does very painful things to my ribs! But it does happen occasionally!

The old bikini line though....not entirely keen on going somewhere I can't see anymore with a sharp razor! Cream not bad though...at least DP didn't tell me it was too wonky......

Really is such a personal pride thing though isn't it? I gave up a while back but now it seems to be at least one thing I can do to stay a little bit girly while the rest of me gets more ungainly!

dublindee · 26/11/2006 22:26

BREATHE Indith!

Innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut

RELAX.

parents are meant to melt your head at this point of your pregnancy or didn't you kno it was their speciality?

All you have to do is say "Thanks Mum, but we'll be trying to establish a routine for feeding etc in the first 2-3 months so feel free to take on work. We'd love to take you up on your offer a bit later on tho once the groundwork has been laid and maybe get some quality time together?"

Or something like that....

Indith · 26/11/2006 22:30

Ah but Dublin she feels that as little young inexperienced students she needs to help us through the hardest time, ie the first weeks so we can get back on trak for essays and lectures asap. I can see it now...baby asleep or quietly feeding, DP wants to sit at the kitchen table and do some work but no the Mother is taking the chance to clean it or take over the kitchen to cook for us!

Oh I do love her really and I know she is trying to help!

dublindee · 26/11/2006 22:30

Baileys - I did see the thread but was a lurker not a poster too about it really as have only ever "tidied" never had brazilian or anything scary done down there - too much of a wuss tbh!

When I had Matthew I trimmed beforehand and coped ok, don't worry bout it too much, the pain (if you have stitches takes precendence anyway.

On that subject everyone buy Femepads NOW and have them just in case. When you're on your way home from hosp get hubby/DP to pop ome in the freezer. They saved my life the last time.

dublindee · 26/11/2006 22:32

Poor you Indith. It's a toughie then!
How old are you then? >

Indith · 26/11/2006 22:35

23! Older than she was when she had my sister! (just)

dublindee · 26/11/2006 22:41

I remember being 23

Can't believe I'm 30 next birthday - I feel ancient.

Just be firm with her and tell her you don't think it'll work out.

Indith · 26/11/2006 22:41

Ah well thanks for the sympathy Dublin. Breathing about back to normal levels, I think I shall go find my comfy bed and a book.

dublindee · 26/11/2006 23:00

me too night night!!

annaspanner · 27/11/2006 00:45

What are Femepads Dublindee?

I understand you on the Mum-moving-in problem, Indith. My problem isn't my parents-they are coming to stay for 5 weeks from next week but I can't wait. They've rented a flat nearby and will keep their distance until I ask for company/help. My Gran moved in with my mum when she had her first so she understands that even the best mother-daughter relationship can be strained. I'm so looking forward to them meeting their first grandchild.
My MIL, on the other hand, lives 2 streets away and does not understand expressions like 'You need to go now', 'We are following the midwife's advice on breastfeeding, sleeping etc, THANK YOU!', 'we need to be alone', 'we don't need any more baby clothes' etc etc. Her heart is in the right place but she does not take no for an answer, in fact I don't think she hears the word no.
And she has a key!

northernmama · 27/11/2006 08:17

too funny!! Thank goodness, it's 1:00 AM where I live, can't sleep, everyone else is (good news), and I come here to find the funniest discussion yet!!

\We've all just finished a weekend of getting nothing accomplished and I am all worked up and knackered to boot! Knacered doing nothing.... its grand.

I'm so tired of BH's, its going to be the longest wait to the "finish" line ever, and all I can think about is my grandma's whipped shortbread and how I should make about 100 batches because thats how many I'm gonna need to get me thru the next few weeks.

And shaving? Well, it takes forever and then hubby has to come pull you out of the tub to boot, laughing the whole way! {grin}

BaileysMilkshake · 27/11/2006 09:06

Indith - why not try the whole DH/DP will be in one room trying to get some sleep while baby and I are in the other - so with all the baby stuff as well there womnt be any room for you to sleep - line?

Would have tried this withMIL, but she knows our put-you-up fits nicely in the lounge of nowehere else. Oh help 5 days to her arrival and coutning! I wish my mum was here instead!

Am still perplaexed as to why BIL and SIL felt so desperately in need of a nigt out as to leave both DC's with IL's? Is it me - am I too over protective? I know I have control issues - my councellor told me so.

lubella · 27/11/2006 09:27

Hi All,

Lovely to hear everyone is doing well, I have been offline for ages - so nice to be able to post again.
We all seem to be counting down!! for me the sleeping thing is the worst but also going insane with things to do to fill my day I have everything prepared now and am sick of asssembling/ dissembling (SP?) the buggy just for something to do...has anyone got any ideas - apart from cleaning- I have been meaning to take up knitting and am getting v desperate

Gloria42 · 27/11/2006 09:38

Good morning! And welcome to the new baby(ies?)
My boss is officially the best boss in the world. Although there is 3 weeks until i officially stop she suggested (I didn't even have to ask) that I could just do 4hrs a day!!!!!!!! Bliss. Am off to finish Xmas shopping today then put my feet up! grin]

judemum · 27/11/2006 09:42

Morning all and massive congrats to Lucy. Desperate to here from Eli...??!!
Also made jam tarts this weekend with DS1 and now they've all been eatned. Had my two best friends staying this weekend, so we had a good girly catch up and they told me all about their drunken antics whilst I spiied delicately at my half glass of wine. (sigh!). Sorry some of you are feeling down- we're all yo-yo-ing a bit I think- but not long to go...I agree its better to rest at this stage and half your jobs done then drive yourslef mad trying to get everything done and then be frazzled when the baby arrives. That said, I am doing the latter..........!!

judemum · 27/11/2006 09:44

Hi Northernmum- got excited then as thought you lived "ooop north", but obviously you live in the North of Another Country...(but which??) Which is no good to me!

judemum · 27/11/2006 09:45

Lubella

Knitting/embroidery/wrapping xmas presents/writing xmas cards? Otherwise, just lie on the sofa with some cake and enjoy the rest!
