Congrats cuppa :) and how exciting hide!

6 weeks now and feeling constantly like I have a hangover (which I don't!) so my wish of having some real symptoms has come true. Did anyone else tell close friends/family at this stage? We didn't with DS1 but it is so hard not to and the scan seems like so far away. Also when did you start telling older children about the new baby? DS is 21 months and probably wouldn't understand anyway..

Mumof1sofar · 25/09/2015 21:12

Hi ladies,
Sorry I haven't been around much. Since all the problems with mn I haven't been on much.
Congrats to the new bfp ladies ?? very exciting!
I've had my 20 week scan & I'm having a little boy! Very excited- we already have 16mo dd so will definitely have my hands full!

hideandsqueak · 27/09/2015 22:01

It would have been nice to know my delivery date and get all organized but DD made a break for it on Thursday at just 37+1. Waters went and accidental vbac happened. DS stopped feeding about a week ago! And doesn't seem too bothered although did ask for some today but soon forgot. Meanwhile the side that was his has a nipple of steel and is fine whereas the side he rejected a few months ago is now sore!

Looks like I won't be tandemming and am actually quite pleased about this...

hideandsqueak · 27/09/2015 22:03

April I started telling DS after about 20 weeks when i developed an actual bump to help explain. He is only 22 months now so probably still didn't have a clue what was going on. There is a good book 'there is a house inside my mummy'

aprilrainshowers · 28/09/2015 12:38

Wow congratulations hide! Glad to hear your new lo is here safely, albeit not quite as planned. I find it hard to keep quiet to DS about the baby, but will at least wait until the scan. Is anyone warning your breastfeeding DC that the milk might not always be there for them? That is still such a sad thought to me that I can't bring myself to tell DS but don't know if it would be kinder to warn him...

hideandsqueak · 07/10/2015 12:56

I didn't warn DS that the milk might dry up but maybe he was a bit young to understand.

He wasn't really that interested in the last month of pregnancy but I can now confirm that he is now asking for it several times a day which hasn't happened for a year! Am only allowing him BF at nap and bedtimes. Does anyone know if I will lose more weight tandemming? There has to be some bonus for me!!

ispyfispi · 11/10/2015 15:03

Ah congratulations Hide! Really interested how tandeming goes as my ds is still firmly breastfeeding day and night and can't see how that's going to change in 6 months!

waxweasel · 12/10/2015 10:38

Congratulations hide!

lostindubai · 13/10/2015 07:06

Congratulations hide that's lovely news! I hope you're recovering ok that must have been quite a shock.

April I told my parents and pils at 7 weeks. It was so hard to hide how bad I was feeling and I felt better for telling them.

I'm pretty sure my milk has now dried up (I'm 14+5) but ds still requires his feed every evening and gets rather upset if I try to avoid it. So I am happy to let him carry on for comfort, although it's exhausting (especially as my nausea is worse in the evenings). At least it gives us some specific time together though, as I've been pretty useless with him the last few weeks due to feeling so ill. He's spent a lot more time with dp so I do miss him! I can't even put him in his cot any more as my belly gets in the way.

aprilrainshowers · 13/10/2015 09:38

hide I am also interested to hear how the tandeming is going, like ispy i'm finding it difficult to see how DS is going to give up his 'baba'. I think my supply has already dropped a lot (at only 9.5 weeks) but it doesn't seem to put him off.. lost i can sympathise with the feeding being somewhat uncomfortable but at the same time i enjoy the quiet time together.

Just found out my scan is next Tuesday. My parents in law will be staying so think we will have to tell them so they can look after DS. The thought of them looking after DS makes me very nervous though as they haven't done so before, but guess I have to trust they will all be okay! I'm desperate to find out that everything is okay with the baby, and hoping that there is just one in there after reading all the studies about increased risk of conceiving twins while breastfeeding. No one on here is expecting twins yet though?

ispyfispi · 13/10/2015 09:49

I had my first scan last week April and was convinced it was going to be twins (my sister has twins too!) but there was just the one in there. I was slightly too early for the testing though so have to go back this week. We really don't want to tell anyone (particularly my older dcs) until we've had the results. My friend confided a few weeks ago that she was pregnant so I did tell her and it's been really nice to have someone in rl to talk to.

Duchess007 · 13/10/2015 15:41

Hi everyone Smile

Sorry I've not been around much. Morning sickness returned with a vengeance and I'm only just about coming out the other side at week 30! It's been a total nightmare trying to look after my DD as she's so full of energy and doesn't nap in the day at all, and all I want to do is stay in bed!

Huge congratulations Hide! I'm so pleased that all went well, though it must have been such a surprise for you! I hope you are enjoying lots of newborn cuddles and that feeding is going well this time round.

I got all of DD's newborn clothes out of storage at the weekend and now just need to find the energy to sort through them and wash them etc. We haven't found out the sex of DC2 so a lot of it may not be needed, but I'd rather be prepared just in case. Though to be honest I will prob reuse all the sleepsuits regardless of the sex of the baby, as it seems a waste not to!

How are everyone else's preparations going? I've bought a second seat to turn my pushchair into a double but not got much else sorted yet. Can't decide when to bring the bassinet down out of the loft as I don't want to leave it too late, but at the same time don't want it taking up space etc. On that note, does anyone know if you have to buy a new mattress for bassinet/cot etc if the original one was used by a sibling? I know it's recommended not to buy second hand, but does it count if it's from your own older child?

waxweasel · 13/10/2015 16:04

Oooo duchess, not long to go now! I was wondering about the mattresses too - DD refused to sleep anywhere except on me for a full year anyway, so it'd add insult to injury to have to replace practically unused mattresses!

Lostindubai - not glad you're feeling rough, but glad it isn't just me. I'm 14+4 so just a day behind you, and am still feeling so rough. I'm signed off work and have been put on anti-emetics, and 3 days a week DD is at nursery (when I would have been in work). So I only have to be on my own with her 2 days a week, and I feel so pathetic about the fact I just can't cope with even that! This morning I actually fainted, then came round and started throwing up bile. Feel like death warmed up. Have seen the gp and she thinks it might be iron deficiency - would be glad if it was so at least there was hope that I could fix it and stop feeling so totally wrung out!

ispyfispi · 13/10/2015 16:05

Glad you're starting to feel a little better Duchess. With regards to the mattress it's probably fine if it's been used relatively recently, I think the concern is mould spores from one that's been in storage a long time.

aprilrainshowers · 28/10/2015 08:54

Hope everyone is doing okay and working through the morning/all day sickness. I think I have been lucky in that regard but am still struggling with the constant background nausea and fatigue... I had my first scan last week and all looked well though as only 10+6 weeks at the time am going back next week for the screening tests. It was lovely to see the baby (just the one!). I think DS is getting next to nothing from breastfeeding and has ramped up his solid intake but it doesn't stop him asking for 'baba' often including through the night. I have no energy to change this at the moment but maybe that will come in the 2nd trimester??

hideandsqueak · 31/10/2015 22:14

Hi ladies. DD is 5 weeks now and BF is going really well. DS is just having the odd feed now when he feels poorly or hurts himself. Not sure what this does to my supply but I seem to have loads of milk and a slightly scary letdown!

Wishing you all healthy pregnancies where your milk doesn't dry up and you get lots of sleep ??

peardrop2 · 23/12/2015 15:24

Hello ladies Smile Sooooo happy to find out I am 3 weeks pregnant this morning!! After 1.5 years trying, numerous blood tests, a scan to rule out PCOS, a trip to see a fertility specialist and a change in our diets...I got here Wink The best Christmas present ever!!!

Duchess007 · 24/12/2015 17:11

OMG! Pear! Congratulations! That is the absolute best news. I am so pleased for you. I was only thinking of you the other day and wondering how you were getting on. What a fantastic Christmas present for you!

I am a week overdue and going slightly insane! Looking forward to a lovely Christmas tomorrow with DH and DD, but knowing my luck I'll go into labour and spoil the day for everyone!

Wishing you all a merry Christmas for tomorrow! Xmas Smile

peardrop2 · 25/12/2015 05:22

Duchess - Thank you! As your pregnancy journey ends, mine begins! Very exciting!! Good luck with the next few weeks and with BF! Come back and let us know how you've got on!!

Happy Christmas everyone [santa]Smile

Argh! Congrats pear! What lovely news... Wishing you a very uneventful boring pregnancy. Merry Christmas!

Duchess007 · 29/12/2015 21:31

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know DD has arrived! Grin After being overdue and feeling like I had been waiting forever, labour was quick and we only just got to the hospital in time!

Bf is going well so far but I'm looking forward to my milk coming in properly so I can gage how much she's getting a bit better. It has been tricky remembering how to feed a newborn but we are getting into the swing of it which is great.

One thing I will mention which was a bit of a surprise is just how painful the after pains have been this time round. Apparently this is normal for second/third etc babies but as breastfeeding really helps contract the uterus back I thought it was worth warning you all to stock up on bf-friendly pain relief in advance! It's a bit of a cruel indication that bf is going well, as my after pains are feeling like early contractions at the moment! Sad

Hope you all had a nice Christmas and that your pregnancies are all going well.

peardrop2 · 29/12/2015 21:43

Duchess - Congratulations!!! Wonderful news! Enjoy this special time and thanks for the pain relief tip Smile

Congratulations peardrop - wonderful news! What's your EDD?

Also congratulations on the birth of your daughter Duchess Enjoy her! I was wondering if feeding would be easier second time around, but I guess she's new to it even if you're an old hand.

8 weeks here so still early days. Would really love if DS weaned soon. I know it's awful, but it's sore and I'm tired and sick in the evenings. Was kind of hoping milk would dry up as I hit T2 and he'd lose interest. Did this happen for anyone?

peardrop2 · 30/12/2015 10:01

ToElle - my EDD is 2nd September. Sorry to hear you're having a tough time. I've not experienced ms yet. I didn't have it last time with dS either. I must say I'm very grateful that DS has long weaned! Well done you for continuing! I think my son is probably a bit older then yours though (2.5 years)?

ToElleWithIt · 31/12/2015 09:53

Exciting!

I didn't have sickness at all last time with DS and I just assumed I'd be the same again and breeze through so it's an unwelcome surprise. Hope you escape it!

He's 20 months now, but I really feel like I've got to the stage where my need for a bit of a break is going to come ahead of his need to feed (I feel bad saying that, but he's had a long run of it). He goes down for DH no problem when I'm not there so I think we may have to get him to do bedtime for a week or two and tough it out.
