Excellent news, what a relief that must be! Congratulations x

MayFlowers16 · 06/08/2015 20:47

Thanks wax yes it is a relief as I will be ancient 38 when this one is born.

How are you feeling?

hideandsqueak · 06/08/2015 21:00

That's a good result may. My hospital don't give you an exact number
Just high or low. Not sure if this is a good or a bad thing.

MayFlowers16 · 06/08/2015 21:07

Probably a good thing thing hide as anything more than 250 means very very unlikely. The numbers are a bit arbitrary imo.

hideandsqueak · 06/08/2015 22:56

Is anyone else exhausted? DS hasn't even woken in the night for weeks. I guess i should start going to bed earlier. But I'm too tired to even go to bed! If that makes sense...

waxweasel · 07/08/2015 07:07

I'm totally exhausted too! It feels like I'm recovering from flu, am hungover and haven't slept in a week - it's like I'm just totally drained. Am really struggling at work as I just can't focus as I'm so shattered Sad DD still wakes up a lot through the night, is an early riser AND literally since the day before I got my bfp has decided to drop her nap. So that won't be helping...

hideandsqueak · 07/08/2015 10:17

Oh dear wax that must be tough without a nap to give you a rest. I dread the day DS drops his nap. How old is your DD?

MayFlowers16 · 07/08/2015 10:24

Another tired one here! Dd dropped her nap at Easter (when she was 2 1/2) but sleeps through more often than not. I'm fifteen weeks now but still waiting for that second trimester energy boost Confused

Mumof1sofar · 07/08/2015 10:42

Good news about the NT result May Smile

waxweasel · 07/08/2015 17:17

It is hide, it makes for a very long day! She's only just 2, and a terrible sleeper at night so is usually late to drop naps. She still has 2 hours at nursery which is just rubbing salt in the wound!!

Am feeling v sorry for myself as my best friend just cancelled our plans for dinner tonight after work. She's been pretty shit recently and just totally wrapped up in her own stuff, barely heard from her. She's got a lot on (house move, non napping toddler, new nursery to settle into, visitors, stressful job, pg) but I've also had the exact same deal this last month! Anyway I have been literally counting down the hours to seeing her and looking forward to it for weeks, and was planning to tell her about the pg. I dont know anyone where we live now and it's so lonely - I just want to see a friendly face and have a chat. Our DDs are best friends and now the new babies will be close in age too, so it's really exciting. But yeah, she's cancelled, and I had to go into the toilets at work and cry because I am a hormonal mess and I was so disappointed. So I sent her a nice email saying not to worry, and dropping in the pg news as the biggest anti climax non announcement ever.

I asked another friend as an off chance but she's home ill. I ran through my phone book and came to the conclusion I have literally zero friends. DH is on a stag weekend, and I am sat on a train on my way home just trying not to cry.

Fucking hormones.

hideandsqueak · 07/08/2015 22:02

Aw wax that is rubbish. Hope you managed to find something nice to do this evening even if it wasn't going out. I feel really distant from my pre baby friends now who don't have children and despite my best efforts to keep in touch i just don't get invited to anything anymore! Rubbish... I go out with the NCT girls about once a month but apart from that my evenings are social life free Hmm and I doubt this is about to improve with #2 on the way!

waxweasel · 08/08/2015 16:18

Argh stupid MN swallowed my reply! Anyway it just said thanks for the sympathy :) I've pulled myself together and am feeling much more positive! Sorry to hear you're in the same boat though...it's so hard keeping up with pre-DC friends isnt it? I'm lucky to have a couple who really care about DD and make time for her, so we do see a bit of them. But the ones that just arent interested in DD...well I have nothing to talk to them about! So we've just drifted apart.

hideandsqueak · 12/08/2015 22:21

I thought I replied here! Must have started writing and then got distracted by DS.

How is everyone coping in the heat?

I was supposed to be going on a hen do this weekend but cancelled due to the fact that it's just going to be far too much activity for me. This was with my pre baby friends so may push me even further away from them ... But just too pregnant to cope at the moment. Just not sure they understand.

lostindubai · 18/08/2015 20:38

Hi all. Anyone got any advice on how to increase energy levels while 6 weeks pregnant and bf once a day? TIA Smile

hideandsqueak · 20/08/2015 20:13

Lostindubai I was shattered at 6 weeks and I am shattered now at 32 weeks... The middle bit was really good though!

Just go to bed as early as you can, nap if you can, keep your iron levels up, stay hydrated etc

What time does your DC have their BF?

lostindubai · 21/08/2015 05:51

Hi Hide thanks for you reply. He feeds at bedtime, around 8pm. I have been getting early nights and napping while he does on my non work days, but look at the time. I wake up early sometimes and can't get back to sleep which doesn't help!

How can I keep my iron levels up? My doctor recommended taking pregaday but then told me I can't use it until after 12 weeks as there's not enough folic acid in it. So I just have to wait and speak to the midwives and I'm not sure when that'll be.

Are you still bf?

hideandsqueak · 21/08/2015 09:46

What about pregnacare that has iron in it and the recommended daily dose of folic acid...
Or you can take spatone which is iron rich water sachets you mix with orange juice and down in one! You can get it from Boots. Otherwise they say vitamin c helps you to take in iron so eat steak/leafy greens whilst sipping orange juice!

I am still BFing much to my surprise. Just the bedtime feed at 7pm and luckily my DS does sleep through 99% of the time. Although I am up 5 times a night to wee then struggle to sleep. I have reached the fed up stage now!

lostindubai · 22/08/2015 09:11

I'm guessing there's not much room on your lap for him any more Grin That's great though. So you may end up tandem feeding? I'd be interested to know how you get on with that if so.

The spatone sachets sound interesting, I'll look them up I think. Just need to make sure it's all ok with bf I guess (as so much seems not to be!) Did you use them?

hideandsqueak · 22/08/2015 12:08

Yes there is a good chance that is the way we are going. He only takes one side as well so that will be interesting when my milk comes in!

The spatone is fine for pregnant women. It even says so on the box whereas most things say no even if they are harmless.

I can't think why iron would be bad for you if breastfeeding but then I haven't actually looked it up. Are you in the UK? Just realised you may be in Dubai!

lostindubai · 22/08/2015 12:53

I am in the UK yes, confusing name I realise! May have to change it some time actually.

I had prescribed iron supplements not long after ds was born so I'm sure it'll be fine. I just worry about everything really!

Bit hot today isn't it? I have a headache which isn't helping. Feeling generally queasy too. Eating seemed to help last time around but it's not making any difference this time.

hideandsqueak · 22/08/2015 18:13

It's been far too hot today! Had some friends over and had a little BBQ which was nice. I haven't stopped eating this pregnancy. In the beginning it was to stop feeling sick and now it's just habit! Can't eat huge meals however.

I know what you mean about worrying. I am planning on having an elective section and worried about whether BF will bring on early labour...

lostindubai · 25/08/2015 22:35

Is that a possibility then Squeak? I haven't spoken to a midwife yet so haven't had anyone to talk to about all of this!

I got some spatone sachets today. Fx they help with my energy!

hideandsqueak · 26/08/2015 22:31

Ooh hope the spatone works!

I'm not sure it's really true but then who knows. The midwives I have spoken to don't seem to know a lot about it... I think as long as your pregnancy isn't high risk then it's fine to continue. I don't think it would send you into early labour it's just if your body was ready for labour it might start things along? At my NCT class they mentioned nipple twiddling could start labour? So guess it's similar? My DS certainly likes to twiddle the other nipple whilst feeding!

lostindubai · 31/08/2015 07:58

Oh yes I remember about the nipple twiddling now you mention it! That's a good point (pun intended Grin)

Seem to be benefiting from the spatone, definitely don't feel as tired, I just feel so horribly nauseous all the time. Can't wait for this phase to pass.

ispyfispi · 31/08/2015 10:04

Can I join you ladies?! Got my bfp nearly 2 weeks ago but it's not really sunk in! According to my lmp I'm 7+1 but I know I ovulated really late so I'm probably more like 5+4, soooo early ???? Duchess did your midwife believe your dates or was it only changed by the sonographer? How are you doing Ava? I know you were worried about hyperemesis again. So I'm still bf ds 22mo on demand which is several times through the day and night! I'm not worried about weaning particularly except the last couple of days I've felt awful. I thought it was hyperemesis rearing but think it was actually food poisoning, it's been a struggle to stay hydrated. It seems to be easing today though so now just waiting for normal morning sickness to kick in in a few days, joy! Hope everyone is well, I'll be checking in often ????
