Hi everyone - it's been a while since I've been on, lots to catch up on! Hope you're all well. I've been busy with work and boxing up for the move - completing on Monday! But poor old DH is having to do all the donkey work, I've been getting backaches, headaches and morning sickness worse than ever this week at 16 weeks!

Had midwife appointment today and heard the heartbeat which was lovely Smile reassuring to know everything's still ok in there! I've got quite high blood pressure though so need to be monitored (it was high before but has gone up since my 9 week appointment), going back at 20 weeks for a check up.

Marvelette I love the look of the Snuzpod, just not sure I can justify the expense when my friend is giving me her old Moses basket and stand for free! But I'm thinking maybe I can use that downstairs and the Snuzpod upstairs...arrgh too much to think about!

Marvelette · 23/07/2015 22:00

I know! The snuzpod looks so cute. Think you might be able to rent them too? Need to do some investigating.

Pram-wise my first choice (I havent been to play with any so just snooping online) is the Uppababy Cruz. Does anybody have any experience of it? It's fairly expensive but DP's parents kindly said they would contribute, and I plan on being out and about walking with it A LOT.

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 23/07/2015 22:17

Marvelette My sister has the Uppababy vista and thinks it's really good. The carrycot can be used for overnight sleeping, the sun canopy on the seat is pretty big, and the basket is the biggest I've ever seen! I know it's not the Cruz but it might help give you an idea about that brand.

Marvelette · 23/07/2015 22:20

Thank you Maybe that is really good to know!

firsttimenewbie · 23/07/2015 22:37

Mothercare have a deal on at the moment for the silver cross 3.d. From £500 to £300 for the pram, accessories and car seat...... I may have just totally impulse purchased a pram. Oh well can always return it if I change my mind once it's here! Haven't even done any research or tired it out!

fishermanswife1 · 23/07/2015 23:33

Thanks aloha, I think if I'm feeling well I'll go for it. It's a comfortable boat (loo onboard) and we'll only be going 4km max from the coast. Funniky enough it was the thought of fumes that worried me. But plan to be out front or on flybridge, so hoping that'll be behind me. Already amended all the risk assessments. DH not convinced mind!

I'm with you Bee, 16 weeks on Saturday and feel worse today than I have for ages. Nausea, stomach cramps, retching the lot. I Am a joy to be around Confused.

All the kit talk is really useful but it's quite overwhelming too isn't it! DH and I have agreed on a trip to mothercare this weekend to try stuff out, take a look, get a feel and note what we like. then probably go home and price on eBay etc!

One thing I've loved is my nursing chair. I still use it now; in fact, I've just rocked DD to sleep as she's not settling well tonight.

It is big and bulky, but I spent a LOT of time sitting in it with DD as a baby watching Breaking Bad on Netflix at 3am and I hope to do the same this time round. It's in DD's room, so I'll have to have plenty of things to keep her occupied whilst I feed, but should work!

I bought mine (Dutalier) second hand from ebay local. Definitely worth checking the baby gear near to you; very cheap stuff as you have to collect bulky items. Link here

coffeenut · 24/07/2015 05:23

welcome JeanLouise! Are you a fellow aussie or just living here? I hope you're in one of those warm northern states and not freezing your a* off like me Smile

Joey my ob always takes heartbeat and does a brief scan with her ultrasound.

crumble74 · 24/07/2015 06:27

About Angelcare, we had the monitors from birth but only used them once he was sleeping in his own room. I was always in the same room before so could tell he was ok! Once he was in his own room (6 months) we had a Motorola camera and an Angelcare sound & movement monitor. Works well!

BeeMyBaby · 24/07/2015 06:46

I thought I'd add an early morning bump photo although to the untrained eye it may be mistaken for just a chubby tummy... 14+4

frozenfairy123 · 24/07/2015 07:04

The angel care may does work in a moses, although I prefered co sleeping cos we both slept better. Would always recommend getting a second hand one. We bought the angelcare mat and then bought a video wifi camera after. It's so useful as son would get into ackward positions and can check on them. When doing sleep training u can check on them. It's great for piece of mind. X

fishermanswife1 · 24/07/2015 07:07

I'd say that's a bump bee. At this time in the morning nine definitely just looks like chub.
juniper I've had in my head from the very start that I want a rocking chair. Even though I'd need a good cushion on it! Just because space is really quite limited and I can't get over how bulky nursing chairs are. Also I think its something to do with my folks having a rocking chair when my sister and I were very small and I loved it.

mrsfazruns · 24/07/2015 07:24

I realy want. Nursing chair too buy we will have to move house - accomodation provided by work so don't know how big the nursery will be!! :-(

dinosaurdaughter · 24/07/2015 07:28

Nursing chairs are great still using ours the nursery is small and it takes up a lot of space but it has been very well used. Also prams with car seat attachments are really handy for short trips to the shop when you don't want to wake baby.
That's definitely a bump bee

JeanLouise123 · 24/07/2015 07:36

Ooh would love a rocking chair (making a mental note), really need to start researching/buying items on the baby list...

Lovely photos. I thought I might be imagining my own bump thinking its a bit early to be showing, but yours are all so lovely and clear Smile. I have an obs appointment next week (first one), so they should listen to the baby's heartbeat right? I hope so! Apparently will only take 10 mins...

Hi coffee! Im not a 'real' Aussie I'm afraid, moved from England a few years ago. But even I am struggling with the cold! Seems to be getting better this last few days, am in NSW. Where are you? I'm guessing in a southern state Wink

AlohaMama · 24/07/2015 07:39

ooh love our nursing chair - we got it dirt cheap when DS was born - and then i think it was old and had been recovered. It's now pretty tatty so I want to treat myself to a new one - we use it every day for DDs night time stories and if she needs settling in the night. Will be keeping my ears open for recommendations - tutti bambino are cheapest but maybe not so well reviewed??

Oysterbabe · 24/07/2015 08:08

I'd love a nursing chair too but I just don't think we have space unfortunately.

In my dream last night I had the baby, it was a boy and we called him Esther (?!)
He had dark hair and brown eyes, which will raise some eyebrows if true, both DH and I have blonde hair and blue eyes.

MissMartin10 · 24/07/2015 08:18

I'd love a good nursing chair Grin

im the sickest today ive been in ages and i was supposed to go back into work but had to call in again got through to one of the lovley managers and i said ill try come in at dinner but not sure I'll be able to.. im worrying though as I've gone to half pay now and i can't bring myself to tell dp Confused

hotcrossbun83 · 24/07/2015 08:24

Those thinking of getting a snuzpod, I ordered mine last time the day after our 20 weeks scan and it arrived when I was in labour! Maybe they are more available now but there was a huge shortage in 2013, a storm meant the ship from china with a load on got stuck.

No more sickness so I hope it was a bug that has passed, do not want to have it again!

coffeenut · 24/07/2015 08:50

missmartin are you on medication now? You really sound like you're having a terrible time. Have you been to your GP again?

jean yes I'm in melbs. At least the sun has been shining Smile

Esther .. how avant-garde of you oyster Wink

tinyme135 · 24/07/2015 09:16

Morning ladies I just need some advice. How do I go about telling work I'm pregnant and when will my maternity leave will start and what am I entitled to? I'm no good with words so need help haha

hotcrossbun83 · 24/07/2015 09:22

Request a meeting with your line manager, or grab them for a chat if it's a casual place, and just tell them. You don't need to tell them anything further about mat leave dates etc for now. Once you've done that put it in writing to hr, just a simple 'I've just informed my manager xxx that in pregnant due xxx'. Then when you get your matb1 after 20 week scan, request a meeting with hr and run through your options, think about it, then tell them your mat leave dates by 25 weeks

MissMartin10 · 24/07/2015 09:29

coffee the doctor called me 5 mins ago and signed me off for another week but im off the week after with holiday so luckly i have another 17 days off he has prescribed me some medication (i have no idea what it is yet) but he ended his sentence with "its not always safe to take sickness medication in the first trimester" Sad and ive only turned 14w today so now i don't bloody want to take it ... im fed up! but so greatful im pregnant Smile

tinyme135 · 24/07/2015 09:59

That sounds easy enough haha, I would have left it a bit longer but my manager keeps putting all the work on me and it's starting to stress me out now

jellypi3 · 24/07/2015 10:00

Hello, hope it's ok to rejoin this thread. I joined back when I got my BFP but my EDD was a bit unsure and I got dated 2nd of Feb. After my 12 week scan i've been given 28/01 for my EDD :) I'm 13+1 today with my first baby.
