fisher sounds fun!! My concerns would be availability of toilet facilities (have done surveys where peeing involved hanging off back of boat), if there's any chance of feeling sick e.g. diesel fumes, how far offshore you're working and boat size (safety aspects if you have to abandon ship etc), and potentially getting headaches from sun on sea, looking for dolphins etc. Presumably you have to do a risk assessmtn for work anyway? I think I'd do it if it was fairly close inshore, and you felt fine, and make sure you take extra precautions (drink lots, good hat, stay in shade) but maybe be concerned if it was going to be in rough waters, or on small boat. Also depends how much you trust the skipper Wink Personally I find that even though my sickness has gone, even a short ferry trip across an esturay can bring it back....

Lovely catching up on all your news Smile So annoyed today - our office was closed due to a power outage but today had to be the day I had meetings in another office so didn't get to head straight home like everyone else. Grr Angry

Welcome JeanLouise and don't worry, we've done a grand total of no preparation for this baby. I've not looked at or thought about a single pram, cot, item of clothing or car seat. There's plenty of time!

Sorry to those feeling poorly - MissM you're having a rubbish time, aren't you? Brooke I sympathise as I'm now on week three of pretty much constant headaches. Did see my GP but felt a bit foolish as there wasn't anything she could do. Starting to get me down now though as it's like a constant cloud over my head.

Hotcross sounds more like a bug than pg sickness. I hope you're feeling better and keeping some stuff down!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 23/07/2015 16:58

Now we've thoroughly explored Moses baskets, please can we talk prams? Mums, did you bother getting a pram/carrycot attachment or did you just manage with a sling or something until they could go into the buggy? I really have no idea!

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 23/07/2015 17:20

MissMartin My 16wk midwife appointment is when I'll be 17+6 I think. It was the only option the drs receptionist gave me. A little bit late perhaps? Or is it ok to be within 16-18 week window?

lilyb84 · 23/07/2015 17:42

Maybe my mw referred to it as a 16-18 week appt if that helps!

dinosaurdaughter · 23/07/2015 17:50

Just popping in to say hi on the new thread. Lovely to see more scans and sorry for the people still feeling poorly.
In terms of Moses baskets we used ours until dd grew out of hers around 10 weeks then we put her in a cot in her own room which is know is against suggested recommendations but we kept the doors open and it meant everyone had undisturbed sleep.
juniper don't worry about 1 in 3000 low risk I was 1 in 1000 first time but nobody seemed concerned it is only coming on here this time that I realised it was a high low risk if you know what I mean.
Midwife appointment tomorrow I really hope she will check the heartbeat.
15+2

MissMartin10 · 23/07/2015 17:56

strange isnt it maybe i was only given that option too.. im sure its fine though!! we wouldn't have one at all if this was our second baby Hmm

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 23/07/2015 17:57

Thanks lily I thought it was 16-18 but the NHS website confused me on their info on antenatal appointments page.

Pram-wise, as a first-timer I don't know what the reality of owning various types are, but I'm on the lookout for something quite light and versatile that will hopefully last a fair amount of time. I like the style of the Oyster 2, but think the Armadillo Flip XT might be longer-lasting due to it having a really long lay-flat seat unit. And a great sized basket! Just got to get DH to agree with me on it!

Yokyil · 23/07/2015 17:58

Mw appointment went really well, BP all normal and she listened to babas hb!! Was great hearing that lovely WooshWooshWoosh! Said hb is slap bang on with my dates and everything seems good Grin Countdown now on for 20week scan - 3 weeks from Monday coming!!!

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 23/07/2015 17:59

Oh and I really hope the midwife listens for the heartbeat. It would be so lovely and reassuring! Smile

lilyb84 · 23/07/2015 18:05

Glad to hear it went well, Yokyil!

lilyb84 · 23/07/2015 18:18

Also, Teenie, I really hope the hunger kicks in for me soon if that is indeed a 2nd trimester thing. I'm sooo bored of being off my food! Can't remember the last time I was 'hungry'.

b&w We had a bassinet for the pram. A lot of the "travel systems" include the usual buggy seat which they'll be in from 4 or so months and a bassinet. He was very happy in there for the first few months (we had the Uppababy Vista system) but also spent some time in the car seat (not excessive amounts but the inserts are moulded for newborns so they feel snug) and of course the Moses basket. We did have a sling & a structured carrier too but DS was very small and I was too worried about dropping him at first! When he got older I didn't use the carrier either as it made my back hurt. I'll probably have to revisit carriers/slings for number 2 though.

mrschatty · 23/07/2015 18:50

Yeah martin it's right near my work v handy :)

b&w I have silver cross 3d very lightweight and easy to erect dismantle v good price which included car seat

Yokyil · 23/07/2015 19:09

lily the hunger will kick in!!! These past few week ive been eating so much Confused I was like yourself in that I was not enjoying my food at all, just eating cus I had to! Definitely all changed Grin

lilyb84 · 23/07/2015 19:21

That's good to know Yokyil Smile Not that I feel there's much room for food right now anyway! plus it hasn't stopped me pigging out on chocolate anyway

ValancyJane · 23/07/2015 19:53

spydie Lovely scan, I'm thinking girl too though!

We're planning to get a moses basket, originally I was going to get one and have it on the floor, however I'm a softie and don't want to have to boot the cat out of the room (he normally sleeps under our bed) so we might end up getting a stand for it. That said, it will be dependent on whether the angelcare monitor will still work when moses basket is on a stand rather than the floor, I'm not sure it will. Any ideas?

black We're planning to get a travel system, possibly the iCandy or something similar, mainly because otherwise I am really confused about what the baby will need at what stage, and it just seemed the easiest solution all round!! (Once I've read my pregnancy book I really need to read a baby care book - I feel like I'm just winging all this at the moment!)

mrsfazruns · 23/07/2015 20:30

Can't believe I missed the new thread - had loads to catch up on

kep1979 · 23/07/2015 20:34

valancy i was planning on not using the monitor with the moses basket as will only use at night when we are in the room too, and using it in cotbed for day/early evening naps? Not decided which Angelcare to get though.... I quite like the idea of a video one but not sure if it would actually be that useful.

b&w last time i had a m&p pliko, but before the pramette, so did without a carrycot. This time i am looking at the Bugaboo Buffalo which has carrycot too. I am also lusting after a vintage silver cross coachbuilt, but that is definitely heart over head.

I've been having great fun on pinterest with nursery planning. Really like the m&p once upon a time neutral range and thinking of neutral stripes for the walls. Plus noticed a lot of that range on ebay so should make my very tight frugal dh happy Grin

kep1979 · 23/07/2015 20:36

And lily i agree with yokyil i had zero appetite until about 12.5 weeks and now i'm pretty much always starving, but not feeling nauseous at all. Still no energy though and have a banging head. Plus painful spots right on my jawline - ouch!

Oysterbabe · 23/07/2015 20:59

Just realised that today was the third working day since my scan. They said they would call me by now if my downs risk was high so fingers crossed it's low.

mrschatty · 23/07/2015 21:19

Yay good sign oyster

spydie · 23/07/2015 21:20

Oysterbabe, we were told the same so I'm sure it's fine! We got a letter a week later and I thought, oh no, they said two weeks! But it was low risk, 1 in 6,000.

I have no idea what to get re baskets/cribs etc.... Are the baskets easier? We won't have a tonne of space in the bedroom so they seem an obvious choice.

Fortunately a friend is giving us her virtually unused pram and car seat. I'd wanted to buy new on the car seat for safety, but I know/trust her well and know it's not been involved in an accident.

CubanoHabana · 23/07/2015 21:23

I've got 16 week mw appointment tomorrow and ds Is sleeping out for the first time! feeling nervous,he is 17 months and staying at grandads over an hour away.

Romeolovesjuliet · 23/07/2015 21:45

I think all travel systems come with carrycots. If you don't get a travel system just make sure the buggy lies completely flat as they should be flat the majority of the time up to 6 months. I did find having the car seat adaptors and being able to put the car seat directly onto the wheels really useful when we went out in the car as it saves disturbing a sleeping baby but it's by no means an essential.
kep if I was getting a new buggy I reckon I would go for the buffalo. But alas, will have to make do with our knackered cameleon.
