I'm thinking of going to my local mp and the gov of the doctors. If they can do it to me they can do it to anyone else

EdgarAllenPoe · 31/07/2015 08:56

tiny that's so rubbish. You're right to pursue this!

My 16 week appointment got cancelled as the midwife was attending a homebirth, but since I was already 17 weeks she fit me in the next day. So far I really can't complain about the midwifery services here. Got to hear the heartbeat for the first time, that was quite exciting!

TeenieDeenie · 31/07/2015 10:09

Morning all!

I'm sorry to read that so many of you are having problems with blasé and inconsiderate GPs, incompetent surgery staff, employers that just sound like chancers and friends and family that really need to think before they react or speak. Pregnancy really is difficult and stressful enough without these added concerns and worry. Angry

Melon I also have the Next maternity jeans which I started wearing yesterday and noticed such a difference, so comfy. Mine are also a little on the big side still but fine if I pop a belt on to keep them up.

MissMartin The weight thing is strange isn't it? I feel and look SO much bigger and yet I've only gained 0.8lbs since my BFP when my app is telling me I should've gained 5lbs by now! Trying not to worry that it means something bad and that just everyone gains weight at different speeds.

Joey0805 · 31/07/2015 10:29

I'm not weighing myself at all and don't intend to throughout my pregnancy - I find it mentally hard watching my weight go up even though I know it's for a good reason and the truth is I am eating well and not too much and I'm exercising plenty so I'm not going to beat myself up about it. People gain different amounts and at different speeds and there's not much we can do about it is there (if we're doing everything right diet and exercise wise!)...

I have received really good care from the NHS neurologist / obstetricians I've seen so far (not MW led as I have epilepsy) but my initial GP appointment was totally dreadful. The one big difference I've noticed so far between the NHS and private is that the NHS do seem to have a script and they stick to it - they don't seem to take individual circumstances and views into account the same way as they do in the private sector where so far it has all been about what I want for me and my baby and my body.

Wynsey · 31/07/2015 10:42

Hey

I'm at a Festival in Aviemore and just waiting on my DH coming back with breakfast. So far so good. Lasted until near 12 last night but our neighbours weren't so considerate!! Confused woke up with sore shoulders from carrying all the gear and sore hips from sleeping on the air bed but it's not so bad.
Think I'll take it easy today!
Going for a hot shower soon - hopefully that will help.

14+3

fishermanswife1 · 31/07/2015 10:42

Joey I think you're flreally sensible not weighing yourself if it's something that could cause you added worry. I only know mine due to appointments. We don't even have a scales in the house. Not for any particular reason but just think as long as I feel healthy, eat well and exercise a little, I'm not too concerned as you said.

I'm really lagging on this maternity clothes lark! Need to look into it me thinks.

Hope everyone has a good day. Happy Friday! Just one big scary staff meeting to go here, then wweekend! Celebrating our first wedding anniversary.

TeenieDeenie · 31/07/2015 11:12

You're totally right Joey, as long as eating right and getting some exercise then there's really no need. I've just always weighed myself once a week and will continue throughout my pregnancy. At the end of the day, if my weight is an issue then I'm sure the midwife will mention it.

Wynsey is that Stopover Festival you are at? I take my hat off to you, I could never manage a festival and camping at this point! Hope you have a fab time, there's some great acts playing! Smile

MissSMartin · 31/07/2015 11:21

teenie yeah that's how i feel I've always fluctuated between 8st3 and 8st 7 for the last few years and I've been 8st7 for quite some time now despite now looking pretty big lol.. strange.. im not hung up on it, wouldn't have even checked if dp didn't put batteries in the new scales lol Grin

15w

MissSMartin · 31/07/2015 11:22

oh and on maternity clothes front i only have leggings.. but must buy more stuff as all my tops are starting to lift up at the front lol

Joey0805 · 31/07/2015 11:39

The bit of London I'm in they don't weigh us at all! I asked my obstetrician about it yesterday and he said they don't do it here anymore because the baby is one small component of what's going on in there (extra blood, placenta, fluid, etc) and as every woman is different weight gain tells them very little about growth of the baby so they just don't weigh at all unless the mother is very under or overweight and then is therefore higher risk of complications. It was a breath of fresh air for me as my weight has always caused so much anxiety.

Mat clothes wise I have succumbed to mat jeans at the weekend and I've bought a fair number of work clothes in the sale which I'll wear when back from hols (last week Aug). Until then thank heavens for the wrap dress! I also bought a couple of cheap bits for holiday as my normal shorts have now been retired and most of my fitted summer dresses are long gone too.

tinyme135 · 31/07/2015 11:59

I've got nhs England involved now and they're giving me a case worker over it.

SleepyDragon · 31/07/2015 12:03

Morning all

well i had very little side effects from the Labetalol last night but they were back with avengeance this morning so it must be to do with the amount of food in my stomacach at the time to absorb it.

maternity wise, i have 2 pairs of jeggings and then i'm just wearing leggings and dresses for work, because i was big anyway (20/22) my bump already looks huge so i'm struggling with tops.

I have bought a couple of normal tops just in a size bigger than normal but thats mainly beucase i can't find any decent nice mat clothes in my size, everywhere stops at a 20 so you're clearly not supposed to get pregnant if you're bigger than that!

also (apologies in advance for TMI) but i have the worlds most painful right boob and n*pple today - i just want to hold it LOL

SleepyDragon · 31/07/2015 12:09

Tiny for info (in case your caseworker forgets to tell you)

This is a breach under section 40(2) of the DPA, the informatino related to 'personal information under DPA 1998 and relates to a 'living individual' and of of biographical significance to them and only them. Releasing the infromation breached one of the 8 priniciples of the DP act and the first principle required personal datea to be 'processed' fairly and lawfully.

tinyme135 · 31/07/2015 12:34

I've just copied and pasted all that just incase they don't tell me.

I know this is only something minor but it's beside the point. If she can do it to something small like this imagine what she can do with something even more personal.

melonface · 31/07/2015 13:16

It's not minor it's huge! about as personal as it gets if you ask me. I'm glad you're being taken seriously.

wow some of you are brave stepping on the scales, I plan to avoid it until my next midwife appointment in 2 weeks!

I can't tell if I can feel movement today or if it's just my pants moving under my tights lol

SleepyDragon · 31/07/2015 13:25

Oh dear.... i hope you didn't copy all the spelling mistakes i've just noticed Tiny lol

I don't actually own any scales so i couldn't weigh myself even if i wanted to!

EdgarAllenPoe · 31/07/2015 13:27

My midwife didn't weigh me at the latest appointment (she did at booking in) which I was glad of. I've put on 10 lbs. Is that bad for 17 weeks?

I was already a stone overweight according to BMI (I thought I looked good though), but I'm still lighter than my heaviest (I lost about a stone and a half in the 6 months before getting pregnant). I've stopped weighing myself regularly as it's jarring to see the numbers steadily rising when I'd been working so hard on having them go down. But I always weigh myself before an appointment so I don't get a nasty shock when I'm there!

tinyme135 · 31/07/2015 13:49

Haha I never noticed them but don't worry I'll change it if it's brought up xD

mrsfazruns · 31/07/2015 13:53

tiny it is a huge deal! Confidentiality is a big deal! glad you have reported it!

Loving that everyone is starting to get big enough for Mat clothes! I'm starting to pick up some bits here and there and can't believe how comfy they are! My uniform at wrk is starting to get tight and people starting to notice the bump and take every opportunity to tell me how HUGE I am!!

I have had lots of weight issues growing up and hate the scales so being told im HUGE is not going down well!! My MW didn't weigh me either at 16 weeks and I was so so pleased!

BeeMyBaby · 31/07/2015 14:07

edgar I've put on about 11lbs and I'm only 15+4 but I'm not too worried as I'm still about 7kg less than my 12wk pregnancy weight with my previous 2 DCs. Plus I found the extra weight fantastic for balance yesterday - I had to take out my families dogs for a walk which included having to hold 4 whippets on leads or about 10 minutes, during which they saw a fox. That extra weight anchored me down nicely Smile

MissSMartin · 31/07/2015 14:18

Bee hehe that made me giggle.. 4 whippets.. wowwee!

yay! my sister has ordered me a maternity pillow.. hope it helps me im getting joint pain in my hip.. coccyx and knees randomly but only while im asleep.. except yesterday i got stuck in my rabbit enclosure as my back went and i couldn't climb out Sad lol

lilyb84 · 31/07/2015 15:46

Hi ladies, been reading but not posting the last few days as I've not been feeling overly positive but having a better day today so feeling like I can poke my head in again!

Sorry to hear of those of you getting negative reactions to your news or going through tough times in one way or another. tiny I hope you get a decent outcome, and well done for pursuing!

I've been thinking how un-bumpy I am, especially since I haven't put on any weight according to the scales, but yesterday I did yoga for the first time in ages and as soon as I put my gym clothes on felt immediately self-conscious about how podgy I looked and felt! No bump as such but my tummy's definitely bigger, and I feel like I've got flab where there wasn't flab before! Perhaps the inspiration I need to do a bit of exercise in the hope I end up with a bump rather than all-over bloat... Grin

MissSMartin · 31/07/2015 17:59

im sure you'll get a lovely little bump sometime soon lily Smile

ive been abit naughty today and moved a bedroom full of furniture including double bed into my smallest spare room all by myself.. so we can have the nursery in the big one.. and then moved all the nursery furniture into the big one.. I'm excited just to paint it so i know its done before i get too big & lazy!
.. starting it next week im having it cream/beige then when i find out gender in 11days we can either have a dark pinky/purple wall or a olivey green wall Grin

Readyforthefuture · 31/07/2015 18:21

That sounds amazing martin, I can't wait to start nursery prep. We had made our first purchase, the cots, but unfortunately the order was cancelled so we have to replace it and wait all over again :-(. I'm kinda hoping for one of each (gender scan booked for next Saturday), and think soft grey for the walls if it is with accent colours for each.

Feeling a bit better about work stuff, put in the formal grievance today with all the evidence. Also asked a lovely colleague who I've known for years to accompany me in meetings, she used to work in hr, was trained on new people management process alongside me, and is now the companies legal manager. She was really keen to help, so I think I'm ready for them now. Thank you to everyone for the support on this thread, I think it's going to be a rocky couple of weeks.

fishermanswife1 · 31/07/2015 18:56

missM hope the pillow helps. I be started sleeping the a pillow between my legs to help support my back, and so far it is helping. Be careful lugging a th st stuff about but it sounds lovely. We're limited to white walls as we rent. But will personalise with curtains, and crafty bits etc.

Sorry you've been feeling down Lily. As missM said, bet a little bump will creep up on you. I haven't out on any weight either, same for a few of us.
Sounds like your prepped and ready for them ready. Good for you!
