Q so sorry to hear your sad news. Thinking of you and your family Thanks

cottonwool4brains · 04/08/2015 20:55

can i join? i have been holding off because i have a history of early miscarriage but im feeling a bit more confident now (as i am doing nothing but vomit). Due somewhere between the 9th and 15th of march (previous cycle was a miscarriage so its uncertain until the scan).
panicked myself today as for some reason unknown to myself i decided i would 'make sure' and repeat a pregnancy test.... which was very faint! had a meltdown at work and my colleague told to me take another test with watered down wee.... lo and behold a nice fat line... odd. Is this common or am i just peculiar?

Aufwiedersehenpetrarch · 05/08/2015 07:24

cotton no idea but my theory is that the pregnancy tests only pick up to a certain amount of HCG so if you're as far along as you are, I think it was overloaded with HCG and so didn't really register it. And when you diluted the wee it had the appropriate range of HCG in it and so the test picked it up? I'm just speculating of course.
q sorry pet. Flowers

maybebabybee · 05/08/2015 08:22

Q very sorry to hear your news, thinking of you.

cotton that's quite normal - it's called the Hook effect (google it). Aufwidersen has it right - Because there's so much HCG in your wee it freaks the tests out and sends the results the opposite way. And when you dilute it, it sends it back to what it should be IYSWIM.

Stop POAS :)

RhubarbAndMustard · 05/08/2015 09:17

So sorry Q, hope you're ok.

I've had awful, awful nausea for the past couple of weeks. Its been quite debilitating. But now I've stopped taking my Pregnacare multi-vitamin and replaced with just folic acid on its own -which is also a whole lot cheaper - and am feeling so much better. My stomach still turns at certain foods (mainly meat and tea) but I don't have the constant nausea any more.

Has anyone else had this with their multi-vitamin?

marmitemofo · 05/08/2015 09:34

sorry for your loss Q Flowers

rhubarb I had my booking in appt with my midwife this week and was complaining about sickness - she suggested I swap my prenatal multi vitamins for plain old folic acid + vit D, and that Pregnacare can be quite 'heavy' and make nausea worse.

AdorabeezleWinterpop · 05/08/2015 09:54

Sorry for your loss, Q.

I had my 'early bird' session today. Luckily, I have the same MW that I had last time so I didn't have to sit through the info about diet/BF! My booking appointment is next Friday, when I will be 10+3.

RhubarbAndMustard · 05/08/2015 09:55

That's good to know marmite. I'll pick up some Vit D when I'm next out too then.

Was just about to type that I'm still waiting for my booking apt, but the midwife has just called and its on Friday. Yay!

Aufwiedersehenpetrarch · 05/08/2015 10:28

rhubarb another who can confirm that the pregnancy combined vitamin pills can make the nausea worse. I now use only Folic Acid (mine comes with B12 and B6 too), and will go back on the pregnacare type ones in my third trimester when MS isn't a constant issue anymore.

Aufwiedersehenpetrarch · 05/08/2015 10:29

Thanks maybe I'm glad I wasn't just making stuff up! Grin

BeautifulLiar · 05/08/2015 10:32

Haven't taken folic acid for a few days as I've completely misplaced it. I've got some more coming with the asda shop today but I'm panicking a bit.

I didn't take folic acid properly in the last two pregnancies as the sickness was so bad and those children were fine, but I was determined to do it properly this time and now I've bloody lost them!

Will baby be ok?

Aufwiedersehenpetrarch · 05/08/2015 10:37

Baby will in all likelihood be fine beauty. Hopefully you're eating well. I didn't know I was pregnant until about 7 weeks last time (and they say the most NB weeks are 5-7 for basic neural development) and so wasn't taking it either and DC is fine.

JoannaZZ · 05/08/2015 10:39

So sorry Q Flowers

I might try some "lighter" supplements too, I heard that iron can make you feel sick and mine have iron in them.

But I also think the hormones I was prescribed for my hypothyroidism are making me feel more sick, didn't throw up at all before I started taking them and now I have done twice in a week. Maybe just coincidence.

BeautifulLiar · 05/08/2015 10:52

Yeh... sure... I'm eating well...

toblerone, eclairs, pancakes and takeaways are nice and balanced aren't they? Blush

Aufwiedersehenpetrarch · 05/08/2015 10:55

Hah hah beaut Sounds good to me. Maybe try to nibble on a spinach leaf in cheese sauce or a banana covered in ice cream if you can?

LaraNotCroft22 · 05/08/2015 10:57

Interesting what you're all saying about vits. I feel rotten and am on pregnacare too.

May try something lighter!

Thanks Grin Anything to ease this god awful nausea.

I do actually love spinach but anything that involves cooking is beyond me atm!

Is anyone 1 of 4 siblings? Can I have good stories?! These three are being so naughty it's unreal. I've had to tell the youngest two they're not allowed to go swimming with grandma today but I'm annoyed cos I could have had a break!

marmitemofo · 05/08/2015 11:27

I'm one of four! (the youngest) in fact I also have two step siblings who I grew up with so really am one of six. Don't have any good stories I'm afraid as I remember lots of arguments and being naughty Hmm, BUT I would say that I loved having a big family when I was growing up and I love having lots of siblings. My family is absolutely massive now as most of my siblings also have kids. Family gatherings are always a bit mental!

maybebabybee · 05/08/2015 11:49

I am also one of four - the oldest :)

I have LOADS of good stories - my siblings and I adore each other. DB in particular is the love of my life (he's 14).

When we were younger we did have some almighty rows and I still do from time to time with my second sister (she's 22) but I love them all dearly and wouldn't exchange them for anything!

BeautifulLiar · 05/08/2015 12:02

Thank you girls!! I'm having such a bad time atm (not really pregnancy related) so that was nice to hear Smile
