Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

OP posts:

Good idea, Rae! Hope everyone's having a good weekend. The in laws are having a bbq this afternoon but the thought of burgers makes me feel a bit nauseated. Seem to be having the same food aversions as last time. Wonder if that means this one will be a girl, too? Hmm

ThursdayLast · 25/07/2015 13:44

Hi everyone!
I seem to have just had a two hour nap - I can hear DS wittering quite merrily away in his cot! Good old DH Smile
Still feeling mostly sick and tired. 6.5 weeks now and I already feel like I've been pregnant for a hundred years

SunnyL · 25/07/2015 13:59

We've just had a night in the PILs caravan in an, um, interesting caravan site. Involved about 100 geordies drinking special brew in our front garden with music blaring until late. As a result the toddler thought we were having a party too and refused to sleep until she passed out in my arms at 10pm!

So far I'm still mostly symptom free apart from an aversion to milky cereal in the morning.

I've got a cereal aversion too! It was my main safe food last time. Different aversions this time and more of the same. I love a burger though so save me one! They sound like delightful neighbours Sunny!

rdr15 · 25/07/2015 17:49

Hi poetschild I'm about 9 weeks and also have 1 DD who's 13 months :) can't say I'm really having aversions to anything but I am having the same ridiculously unhealthy cravings as last time. Can't stop eating!

Trinpy · 25/07/2015 18:14

Hello, can I join please? I'm on the March bus too but I like talking Grin.

I have a ds aged 15 months and I'm 5+2 with #2. Edd is 24th March. I had spd during my last pregnancy and I've become very conscious of how much I lift/carry ds. And how are you supposed to reach into a cot with a big baby bump on the way??

LastOneDancing · 25/07/2015 19:35

Evening all.

So... people who are on baby 3+ I have a question.

Does it all come flooding back? I'm having a mini-panic this evening that I will forget to sterilise stuff and how to hold a newborn and how on earth will I manage to BF with a 2 year old tearing my house up.

And will I ever be able to leave my house ever again? How do you go and do the big shop at tesco with two? What if the baby needs a feed in tesco??? That's impossible with 2 surely?? no sitting quietly with a decaf latte in the coffee shop while child 1 breaks things and steals sugar? Sad

Booooohoooooooooo!!!

RooibosTeaAgain · 25/07/2015 19:46

Lastone when I was pregnat with dc2 I discovered Tesco delivered Grin

Trinpy yes I discovered that with 2nd pregnancy. Dh did the cot lifting as much as possible when I developed SPD ( did not have it with first dc). Trained ds to get in his Trip Trapp high chair himself ( took off baby guard) and put something for him to stand on in the car so he could climb into car seat if I pushed, so less lifting. Ds was just over older than yours though, which helped ( still high chair, nappy, cot though).

Trinpy · 25/07/2015 20:24

Thanks Rooibos. How did you manage with lifting in and out of the bath? Or was your dh around for that? My dh doesn't get in from work until long after ds is in bed so I don't really have him around to do this stuff for me unfortunately. I suppose I could always take the cot sides off if it gets too much.

I'm very jealous of all of you that have already had scans. I'm desperate to know that everything's ok in there!

Trinpy · 25/07/2015 20:38

LastOne I can't answer your questions from experience, but I have had the same worries and have been googling lots.

I think online shopping or sending your dh to do the weekly shop (preferably with the 2 year old) is the answer. I have no idea what you're supposed to do when you're halfway through cooking dinner and realise you've run out of a vital ingredient - which is my big fear!

Bfing at home doesn't seem too scary because at least it's contained and you know everything has been childproofed within an inch of its life. But what the hell are you supposed to do when your baby gets hungry while you're at the park and your toddler runs off after a dog???

Trinpy · 25/07/2015 20:39

Sorry that last post was meant to be reassuring but I think I got a bit panicky part way through Blush.

RooibosTeaAgain · 25/07/2015 21:51

Trinpy I do not bath every day ( with his eczema it has never been helpful). So bathed Fri ( dh home earlier), Sun and then once midweek on own. He could stand in bath and I just held him to my body and swung him. Easier to do than the cot. My cot sides go up/down so made it easier to lift. Could you drop cot sides to out in and out?

rdr15 · 26/07/2015 10:07

OH is cooking full English for him and my parents. My stomach is swinging between craving it badly and wanting to throw up. Thinking I might just eat it anyway!

mayaknew · 26/07/2015 10:27

Lastone it kind of does . There was 7 years between my first two so I did forget a lot but you just sort of get back into the swing of it again .

I did however struggle with making up formula . The rules had changed from making up 24hrs worth to making up as you need them , and I found it very hard to retrain myself and it really did stress me out . I wasted to many bottles worrying that I hadn't done it right and spent a fortune on ready made milk because I was so stressed that I wasn't doing it right . This time though I'm feeling much more relaxed about it and I'm going to give BF a go anyway .

Is anyone going to be watching the new series of OBEM ? I'm just catching up with the first ep just now .

LastOneDancing · 26/07/2015 11:03

I have just downloaded OBEM Maya!
I couldn't watch it for ages after LittleLOD was born, I got really upset because I didn't get that incredible moment when they put the baby in your arms (sob!) that they all seem to get on OB but I'm over it now Smile

Getting some sharp pains over the last 24h. Anyone else? I'm guessing it's just ligaments but it just makes me a bit nervous.

rdr15 · 26/07/2015 11:15

I watched it and just cried pretty much the whole way through not sure why! Strange pregnancy hormones!
It probably is just ligaments but if you get any other symptoms like spotting you can always call the epu for reassurance

LastOneDancing · 26/07/2015 12:01

I think it's fine. It's sharp, not crampy and right in the corners so not too worried.

Oh I know! When that ill guy held his baby boy! And they did skin to skin and he sang to him.... Wail!!

SunnyL · 26/07/2015 15:05

Well I've either had my first pregnancy symptom or I'm coming down with something. Felt rubbish at church this morning and have come home and had a 2.5hr nap.

I consoled myself with buying a couple of maternity sewing patterns. Of course last time I didn't get a bump until I was at least 6 months - I just got chunky Grin

RooibosTeaAgain · 26/07/2015 15:32

What are you planning on making Sunny?

SunnyL · 26/07/2015 15:45

Only things for the top half. I think I've still got perfectly wearable maternity jeans in the loft - plus they're a bit of an arse to make. Got a classic white shirt pattern that should be nice for work things. Although DD is only 2 there seems to be a lot more choice in maternity wear and patterns since last time

hufflebottom · 27/07/2015 15:55

I think I'm actually going To have to get some maternity stuff this time. Some of my stuff is starting to feel a little tight already? I'm 10 weeks (according to scan)

Is this normal for second?

RooibosTeaAgain · 27/07/2015 16:56

Sounds impressive Sunny. Wish I could sew as so hard to get maternity clothes in actual shops thesedays. 4yrs ago could get a range in Next, Mamas and Papas ( instead of their tiny display), etc.

Huffle - this will be my 3rd pregnancy and although 5/6 weeks only due to intralipids/steroids/progesterone/clexane injections and pessaries I am swollen and having a nightmare of what to wear. At 12 weeks I stop some of them so tend to shrink a bit! ( but not lost weight from last Bfp so my maternity clothes are already too small I think!) I am having a head in the sand approach until have a positive scan.

ThursdayLast · 27/07/2015 17:03

I think bumps pop out a bit sooner second time around huffle. I'm kind of looking forward to treating myself to some nice new maternity clothes at some point - I was a bit stingy last time because I thought I wasn't likely to be wearing them long, but I don't want to do that this time!

hufflebottom · 27/07/2015 17:13

And there was me hoping to keep it a secret a bit longer a work.

Better go order my maternity uniform.
