Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

OP posts:

Thanks Huffle. Dd has literally cried herself to sleep she's so upset. Had her heart set on a sister. I probably did help matters as I'd assumed it would be a girl too - no history of boys in our family since before my grandparents! Think I may have to seek some extra mumsnet advice on how to handle this one - can't be doing with this for another 4 months and possibly beyond! ??

Qwertybynature · 28/10/2015 19:01

Congratulations Brindler that's fantastic news. Sorry your dd hasn't taken the news so well. I'm sure she'll come round - perhaps focus on the baby bit and less of the boy bit? I'm sure the mumsnetters will have lots of good advise.

Blue day all round - we're having another boy too! Flashed his bits but wouldn't move for anything else so have to go back for another scan. Feeling much better about everything although I'm firmly back on the R Whites ice lollies.

Brindler · 28/10/2015 20:52

Oh congratulations Qwerty! And another scan is a bit of a bonus!

Panic over already with dd - after crying herself to sleep she then woke up and announced she does like boys after all and now loves her brother!! Hope it lasts!

Qwertybynature · 28/10/2015 21:35

Thank you!

Phew! Pleased it's good news again in the Brindler household. My friend told her two ds's she that they were getting a new baby brother and they both cried because they wanted a rabbit!

ThursdayLastWeek · 28/10/2015 21:37

Helloooooooooooooooo!

ThursdayLastWeek · 29/10/2015 07:32

Hello, I think Ive caught up!

Congrats to everyone on successful scans and naughty babies in the wrong place Smile
We had ours this week to and the baby was impeccably behaved if rather wriggly. Even the sonographer commented on it! I'm not surprised as it hardly ever seems to be still Grin

Sex unknown here, due to maternal request.

I have a GTT booked for the beginning of December, does anyone here have any experience of that?
I feel like a haven't seen my MW in a hundred years.

ThursdayLastWeek · 29/10/2015 07:33

Oh and yes I still get the bone crushing tiredness from about 2/3pm everyday. I can get a little second wind around DS winding down/bed time but other than that I'm pooped.

I sleep all night though still, with wee breaks obviously.

Qwertybynature · 29/10/2015 07:55

We have diabetes in our family so I have to have one too. Mines booked for the end of Dec. From memory you're not allowed to eat or drink anything (except water), they do the prick test (end of finger), give you a horrible sugary orange drink and then you to wait for an hour or so. They repeat the prick test and then depending on you're results you're done. Take a book, it's boring as hell!

Qwertybynature · 29/10/2015 09:38

Congrats on the scan btw thursday

ThursdayLastWeek · 29/10/2015 09:41

Thanks for the GTT advice qwerty. The MW told me to book it, and the receptionist booked me in for two slots, but know one has given me any actual info on it IYSWIM. I didn't know I wasn't supposed to eat?

Luckily my docs surgery is not very far away from home, so I'm going first thing, then home, then back again - I also have my next MW appt. that day so it's more convenient than it could have been!

Qwertybynature · 29/10/2015 10:05

Patient info here it's the same procedure everywhere.

Lucky you getting to go home. I have to wait at the maternity unit where there's a cafe. From memory it cooked toast all sodding day long! I nearly ate my own arm.

LCR77 · 29/10/2015 16:34

I had gestational diabetes last time round. They've changed the process slightly since last time and have already had one test at 7 weeks (no sign of it then). No eating or drinking (except water) after 9pm the night before. Had it done at maternity wing at hospital. Took bloods, given sugary drink (not unpleasant tasting), waited for an eternity 2 hours, took bloods again. Could only drink sips of water in the waiting time. Take a good book/ magazines!

ThursdayLastWeek · 29/10/2015 16:54

Thank you both so much for all your help Smile. Can't say I'm looking forward to it much!

SunnyL · 29/10/2015 20:33

Gaaaaa so my attempt to avoid telling my client I'm pregnant went spectacularly well today. She leaned over to my colleague while I was giving presentation on fucking gender equality to ask my colleague if I was pregnant.

Fucking gender equality and she still thought it was appropriate to ask about my reproductive status. Seriously some people can just fuck off and mind their own business.

ThursdayLastWeek · 29/10/2015 20:36

And I bet she'll never see that irony either will she Sunny?!

Fraggleyourock · 30/10/2015 14:55

Finally caught up! Congratulations on all scans!! Brindler, your post about your daughters change of heart literally made me "Awww" out loud, dp gave me an odd look! Thursday, I had my GTT at the maternity ward at the hospital (have diabetes in the family and gestational last pregnancy), they take bloods (blood test, not finger prick), then you drink glucose- I find it revolting, the taste as much as the syrupy thick texture, I just get it down as fast as I can. Then you sit for 2 hours, they then take bloods again and you can leave. If you have it you'll get a phone call in a couple of days, and an appointment with the diabetes centre. If you're clear then you'll get a letter. I have it again unfortunately! I drank plenty of water in the waiting room, and took something decent to read! I wasn't allowed to eat from 10pm the night before, water only. Hope I've been of some help to you!

ThursdayLastWeek · 30/10/2015 18:23

Thank you fraggle, you've all been much more use to me than my MW or doctors surgery

hufflebottom · 01/11/2015 13:37

Thursday I will let you know how my GTT goes mines the end of November. I'm taking my Christmas cards to write. I got so bored the last time I had one.

My blood pressure has started to go up Angry so been told to take 75mg of aspirin. It's going up 10 weeks earlier than it did with dd. Tis pants.
Not only that I've got an infection and I'm on antibiotics. Well will be when I pick up my new prescription from the GP after he gave me one for tablets I can't take.

I'm just wondering what else is gonna go wrong.

ThursdayLastWeek · 01/11/2015 17:55

Oh huffle, you're having a hard time of it aren't you Sad

Saw my bump actually roll this morning, that was lovely

hufflebottom · 01/11/2015 17:57

I've decided that 2 is enough. No more after this. I'm not doing it again. Actually laughing at how much it sucks if I don't I might cry.
Thing is I know people struggle a lot more than I am. But it just seems to be getting worse. I'm waiting for my GTT to tell me I'm diabetic. That will just top it off lol

ThursdayLastWeek · 01/11/2015 18:01

Ah, dont go comparing yourself huffle, your experience is just that - yours.

Keep smiling through the horrors and remember that even though it feels like forever it isn't actually. You'll be out the other side before you know it Thanks

Brindler · 01/11/2015 18:55

Ahh sorry you're having a hard time Huffle! If it makes you feel any better I finally succumbed to dd's sick bug on Friday. It was horrific. Only just starting to feel half human again today!

Qwertybynature · 01/11/2015 20:05

Oh no huffle, you are being put the ringer aren't you? I hope you're managing to get at least some rest. Roll on March! Couldn't agree with Thursday more, it is your experience and you've every right to be naffed off.

Hope you're feeling better too Brindler, there's some really nasty bugs about at the moment.

That's lovely Thursday! I'm starting to get little prods and kicks but this one is no where near as active as DS was. I forgot how strange it feels in the beginning!

hufflebottom · 01/11/2015 20:30

Oh no Brindler. You probably got to the point where you thought you'd missed it.
Feel better soon.

SunnyL · 02/11/2015 20:55

Ooh I started a pregnany yoga class tonight. Fairly certain I fell asleep for the last 15 minutes. Wonder if i could pay her to phone me about 3am when I can't sleep Grin
