Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

Hello, may I join? I'm 25 weeks pregnant with my second child and it's a boy (we have a baby girl already)! I'm 44 and due at the end of January. Anyone else facing an age gap of 22 months or less? I'm a bit anxious about the arduousness of such a small gap

Qwertybynature · 13/10/2015 12:27

Welcome Butcher

Mine aren't going to be that close together but a couple of friends have had close gaps (one had 18mths). They've been fine. It's hard work but then I guess that's the same for anyone with two under school age (or older probably )!

Fraggleyourock · 13/10/2015 14:33

Hi butcher! Mine will be 12 months apart, provided I don't go early! Then it will be a wee 11 months gap! ! Congratulations on your little boy!
All those getting anxious about not feeling kicks, I felt them at 17 weeks with my first, and this time it was later at 18 weeks (until I felt a definite, that is), so I wouldn't worry! Loads of time for feet in the ribs etc. Grin

hufflebottom · 13/10/2015 19:40

Got my cystic fibrosis results back. I'm not a carrier so baby won't have CF.
mind you the Numpty who phoned me (from the site I really don't like) didn't know what she was talking about as she then proceeded to tell me that because they didn't take Fidget's dads blood they can't guarantee it. When I pointed out that Both parents have to be a carrier for child to be a carrier themselves or have it and so I was no longer worried unless baby was an exception to this rule she just laughed and said oh yes that's a good point! More ammunition to go to me midwife with on Thursday when I tell her I will not go back there unless it's life or death.

LCR77 · 14/10/2015 09:34

Welcome butcher

There will be about two and a half years between my two. DD can be challenging at the moment with some fairly impressive tantrums. I'm worried about not being able to give her the full attention she needs so going to try and keep most of the childcare arrangements in place for her 3 days with grandparents and nursery. The grandparent days I'll prob keep flexible so I can spend time with them too but she'll get some 1-2-1 time from them when I need to do other things.

20 week scan on Friday - feeling unnecessarily anxious about everything being ok. Feeling a bit hormonal and weepy this week. Not sure whether it's connected to the anxiety about the scan. Still hardly any movement too. Sorry for the moan...

Qwertybynature · 14/10/2015 22:12

Great news Huffle. It must've filled you with confidence to give a crash course in genetics to the person giving you your results Shock

LCR I feel exactly the same as you, no movements & I've convinced myself my bump and boobs have gone. Had my 16 wk appt & they didn't try to hear for the heartbeat which has made me more anxious. I hope Friday comes round quickly for you. Not sure if it's your thing but I've found some relaxation techniques quite helpful just to bring me back down again.

LCR77 · 14/10/2015 22:56

huffle great news about the results. You should really make a complaint. It's a good job you're more knowledgeable, someone else could have been confused and distressed by those comments.

I'm off to pregnancy yoga tomorrow so hoping that helps. Plus booked a holiday tonight to go to Egypt in a few weeks so feeling loads better. A nice distraction!

Tiredoftiredness · 15/10/2015 05:07

Good luck for all the scans coming up!

I've been up with DS (5) since 1am as he's got tummy ache, he finally I seems to have settled but I can't get back to sleep for trying. Not going to be a good day at work!

Slightly terrified of going back to sleepless nights again in February!

Getting loads of kicks atm, actually atarting to find it quite painful some days.

CarrotPuff · 15/10/2015 08:34

Great news about CF huffle. I didn't know it was genetic. Why did you get tested for it? Does someone in the family have it?

Welcome butcher!

Had my 20w scan yesterday. All good, but baby wasn't playing game and had its head tucked in deep in my pelvis. As least I know it's head down! So I have to come back in 2 weeks again so that they can check the head/brain, etc.

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 15/10/2015 08:36

I've had very little movement and my boons seem to have gone too! Although bunk is getting bigger! Getting worried about not feeling the kind though! Scan next Friday so only just over a week to wait!

Hope everyone is well, I've not been on in a while, life is flying by and we've been really busy!

Does anyone feel like they are not as excited this time, I'm sure with my first I was all floaty and excited, ready to buy lots of lovely things but this time I find it all a bit of an effort!

Qwertybynature · 15/10/2015 11:02

Yes smirking! Half the time I keep forgetting I'm even pregnant. I haven't made any announcements and tell people when I see them (if I remember). I am really pleased that we may be having another baby (all being well) but the whole buzz of the first time isn't really here. Perhaps it'll change after the 20wk scan?

hufflebottom · 15/10/2015 18:58

Hi Carrot no one else in my family has it. Which is why it was a bit of a shock when they mentioned it. But some people never know their a carrier. Nice to see someone else's bump was being as co operative at the scan. Least it means another look. Smile

Fraggleyourock · 15/10/2015 21:33

Watched barefoot contessa bake some peanut butter swirl brownies and literally can't get them out of my head! Desperately want to bake them, and also I want to make some with the biscoff spread because it's delicious! But I have gestational diabetes so I really shouldn't tempt myself! Help!

hufflebottom · 15/10/2015 21:45

Oh no Fraggley. Avoid all cooking channels and hide all the bad things.

I'd say make some and get others to try but that would be cruel on yourself.

Fraggleyourock · 15/10/2015 21:50

I did consider doing that, just to get the baking out of my system, however I am in serious doubt of my will power, and I don't think I could resist "trying a tiny bit" of one...

Brindler · 16/10/2015 10:00

Exactly the same here Querty!

Also have to laugh at the food cravings. I've also been craving sweet desserts which is unusual for me as I would normally never eat or want them! Actually had to do a late night run to tesco the other day because if I didn't get Apple crumble and custard someone was going to get hurt!

Fraggleyourock · 16/10/2015 12:49

Haha brindler! Safer for all involved for you to have that much needed crumble!! I am the same as you, when I'm not pregnant I'm all about savoury foods. So strange how they can change what you like/dislike... I have gone completely off pulled pork this time, makes me gag just thinking about it! Lamb shank is the same. 2 things I ordinarily love!

SunnyL · 16/10/2015 14:26

Thankfully I don't have the same cravings in this pregnancy as i did last time as we just went into a mahoosively expensive gorgeous chocolate shop and I didn't feel the need to melt the credit card. Last time I'd have been in ecstasy.

Fraggleyourock · 16/10/2015 14:35

You're lucky sunny! What kind of cravings have you had this time? It's all I have wanted through this pregnancy, but I had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy so didn't indulge this time in an attempt to avoid it... Which didn't happen anyway hehe. I just have to eat some fruit and hope it curbs the craving!

SunnyL · 16/10/2015 21:17

No real cravings to be honest. Last time DH kept trying to make them up to satisfy his daily needs i.e. chinese takeaway on a tuesday, limeade on a Thursday etc etc.

Got a client meeting on Wednesday and I'm still trying to hide the growing tummy. Will have to have a fashion show at work on monday to see which outfit merely makes me look fat and not pregnant.

Fraggleyourock · 17/10/2015 17:52

Good luck on choosing an outfit! I like your DH style!

SunnyL · 19/10/2015 19:37

Oh god oh god oh god I totally look pregnant. What can i wear?? How about an open suit jacket, a loose blouse and a wafty scarf. Is anyone else still trying to hide their bump? What to do!

Brindler · 19/10/2015 21:59

Ha ha Sunny! I think a scarf is def a good idea. Or could you do your jacket up or are you past that stage now?!

I got offered my first seat on the tube today! Feel like I've reached a milestone!

Qwertybynature · 20/10/2015 07:46

How did you get on Sunny? I'm trying to conceal mine with one family I current work with, no real reason but my contract with them finishes soon and I don't really want them to know (not sure why!). I've been wearing lots of loose tops and scarfs, and carrying my bag front of me when I leave / arrive (with a lot less panache than Kate Middleton).

I have a massive moon face though so I'm sure everyone has known since 6 weeks!

Have you got a badge Brindler?

LCR77 · 20/10/2015 14:28

Everything absolutely fine with 20 week scan. It's another girl! Placenta at the back though so not sure why still not much movement felt. Will see how i get on next few weeks. Relieved all is ok and nothing to be concerned about.

Hope all you ladies and bumps are doing well too.
