Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

Huffle I'm very Angry on your behalf! Twats!

Roiboos I think it's only dangerous if you get it in 1st tri and just before birth. Fx you won't get it.

It's so nice to be looking for mat clothes instead of applying for jobs Grin I hope I don't pop too much in the next few weeks, would like to have worked a couple weeks at least before telling them...

RooibosTeaAgain · 06/10/2015 10:50

Thanks, hope we both missed it! Start work in a few days and all I need is CP or my ds to have it!!!

Carrot - hope new job starts well.

Starting to stress myself out regarding lack of movements. Last pg I had an anterior placenta so didn't feel anything till late on about 26 wks. I checked my notes and doesn't say where location is this time from 12 wk scan so presumed posterior. Had a few fluttery type movements from 14 wks this time but for the last week there hasn't been anything. Am I being paranoid? or could it be due to anterior placenta again? I can't remember at what point I found out last time. Heartbeat was really strong at 16 weeks. I need to get a grip don't I....

RooibosTeaAgain · 06/10/2015 13:23

I am almost 16 weeks and not had any fluttering so even if that helps?
When is your anomaly scan? Hopefully that will help as you can ask about placenta and so on.

LCR77 · 06/10/2015 13:29

Anomaly scan is on 16 Oct so not far off - just know I'm going to send myself crackers in the meantime!

Also sending myself into a frenzy about upcoming consultant appt regarding VBAC/ELCS options. It is going to be a relief to finally find out what happened last time and reasons for EMCS just a little nervous to relive it all.

Think I'm having one of those days plus horrendous skin flare-up. Maybe I'm having a hormone surge??

RooibosTeaAgain · 06/10/2015 18:35

Hope consultant appointment helpful.

Had midwife today. Heard heartbeat. next appointment is in Dec!

SunnyL · 06/10/2015 19:29

Dec?? Is that because it's second baby you don't get as many appointments?

I've had flutters off and on but its not predictable -almost none last week. Don't think its an issue for quite a while. I'm 16 weeks.

Went swimming tonight wearing my maternity tankini as my swimsuits are a bit tight. Thought my boobs were going to escape every time I did front crawl. Think I may need to wear an extra bikini top for the next wee while Wink

RooibosTeaAgain · 06/10/2015 19:34

Yes not first baby so less appointments. I can get my MatB by ringing ( not sure where!) and asking for it to be left at my Gp's as need it by 25 weeks. Having had 5 pregnancies and 1 baby I did wonder how long til she saw me. The answer is 10 weeks! Am hoping it is because all seems well.

Extra top sounds good plan Sunny. I found my mat bras this week. Only the biggest feeding ones I have fit, which is very scary.

hufflebottom · 06/10/2015 19:53

I've booked an extra appointment as a) I need to get my Matb and b) Im feeling so incomfortable all the time and c) I want to know if I really need to cancel my growth scan at 28 weeks and go to a different growth scan 4 days later at the horrible site from yesterday. Because the thought of going back there is currently freaking me out. Which is totally stupid as it wasn't as bad as it could of been but it's a stress to get to when there is a closer site round the corner.

RooibosTeaAgain · 06/10/2015 21:21

Sounds wise! Sadly cannot book extra apt's here, only the midwife can make them and no way was she seeing me any sooner!
Hope you get your growth scan sorted so it is best thing for you.

Qwertybynature · 07/10/2015 12:33

Huffle that's rubbish. I might be wrong but I think you can elect to have your maternity care (including scans) where you choose to (the NHS did call it choose and book, but it may have changed). I'm not surprised you want to go elsewhere, what a horrible experience.

No chance of booking extra appointments here either, I'm lucky to get an appt half the time.

My maternity jeans turned up yesterday, I forgot how comfy they are!

hufflebottom · 07/10/2015 12:55

Can't believe no one else can book appointments? When I was pregnant with dd living elsewhere I could book extra appointments if I needed it. How odd.

RooibosTeaAgain · 07/10/2015 18:47

Huffle I even asked for an extra appointment - as was so ill with infection last time was in hospital, pre-eclampsia and then a stillbirth. "No" was the reply. I have given up. But in reality the mw does pure minimum so realised could take my own blood pressure and dip own urine and see a dr! I can book dr appointments so am booking every 2/3 weeks just in case and then cancel if not need!!

hufflebottom · 08/10/2015 07:50

That's ridiculous. All come down to me. All come and see my midwife.

LCR77 · 08/10/2015 10:23

Turns out my weird rash isn't a hormone surge as I thought. Went to docs and its shingles. At home trying to rest. Feeling ok though and main thing is no harm to baby - just unpleasant. Have had it before though so think it's quite mild.

LCR77 · 08/10/2015 10:25

Think I felt a bit of movement last night too so worrying less about that. Starting to think anterior placenta again though...

SunnyL · 08/10/2015 13:12

Arg shingles is horrible poor you. Not had it personally but still wouldn't want it.

Hope you feel better soon

LastOneDancing · 08/10/2015 13:12

I've had a few tiny barely there flutters but I'm sure I felt definite movement early with DS so it's freaking me out a bit. I need a huge reassuring back flip!

Sorry you're not well LCR. Hope it clears up soon.

Qwertybynature · 08/10/2015 13:24

Poor you LCR I had shingles earlier on this year and it was really painful. Get plenty of rest if you can, I felt wiped out for a fortnight.

No movement here either, although I was told I had an anterior placenta so I'm guessing I might not feel anything definite until much later. I'd quite like a nice big reassuring kick too.

ThursdayLastWeek · 08/10/2015 16:32

Oh no Lcr shingles? That'd bad luck.
I had it as a child and it was an agony of itching. Feel better soon.

I don't see my MW now til Dec either - seems like an age!
Have to book my wc and flu jabs myself, and a test they do for gestational diabetes.

20 week scan at the end of this month eeeeee

LCR77 · 08/10/2015 20:03

Thanks for your well wishes. Think I have a mild dose as have had shingles before. Still pretty unpleasant though.

I had anterior placenta previously and barely felt anything till 26 weeks. Didn't feel real until I felt the kicks. It feels like an age to wait longer

ThursdayLastWeek · 08/10/2015 21:09

Right, I've done a read through!

Rooibos I'm astonished that your MW team aren't actively encouraging you in for more appts with your medical history. God, you must be aching for some kind of reassurance from them.

Yes qwerty welcome to the dark side of maternity jeans! I am still amost constantly bidding on things in eBay Grin

LCR I understand your worries about consultant appt. I know everyone's experiences vary greatly but my consultant was wonderful. Even just having a few things explained about the disaster that was DS birth was wonderful. His empathy was wonderful. I hope you have as positive experience as I did!

I think this babe is getting a bit more lively Smile how do I know where my placenta is? Do they put it in your notes?

ThursdayLastWeek · 08/10/2015 21:10

Oh and we've decided we deffo don't want to know the sex, as even its birthday won't be a surprise!

Qwertybynature · 08/10/2015 21:16

I was told at my scan but I don't think they add it to your notes until the 20 wk scan as it can move around quite a bit before then.

We're I'm still undecided about finding out. We didn't with ds and I think I'd like to with this one. It's lovely not knowing though Thursday. Will your dh be the one to tell you?

SunnyL · 08/10/2015 21:25

We're not going to find out though I am v tempted.

At the moment I just want to find out if I can use the midwife unit or have to go in the labour ward. I had a retained placenta last time which I didn't think was such a big deal. And then stupidly i went and read some medical journals on it. Teensy bit unsettled by what I read and the higher risks involved.
