Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

OP posts:

Congrats Jessie

No NCT here again - not much point for a 3rd pregnancy and sadly most of NCT at people from first time had so many family and friends near them they did not want to meet up.

SunnyL · 22/09/2015 17:25

No NCT for me either this time. We've got a nice friendly baby amd toddler group in my village though that was my saviour last time.

Just been into central Edinburgh amd Topshop and H&M had some maternity clothes on the rack. Didn't think much of the quality in H&M but Topshop had some nice basics in. I seem to be preoccupied with finding warm clothes this time round - maybe I'll be centrally heated from within but winters can be quite fierce here.

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 23/09/2015 09:37

Been struggling to keep up with the threads as been very busy!

Hope everyone is well, I will read back at some point!
My day is full of house work and errands today - joy!! Bump growing well but putting a strain on my body, more so than last time I think!!

hufflebottom · 23/09/2015 22:47

I might go and find some baby groups when baby is here.
Don't know a great many people in the area. The ones i do know are mums of dd's school friends.

RooibosTeaAgain · 24/09/2015 08:22

Huffle that is what I would like to do, also. Especially as ds will be in school. So looking forward to be able to take him and settle him in.

14weeks today. Handed in return to work so am happy about that. Still hardly told anyone due to this! Thankful to be low risk from 12 week scan ( do not get numbers unless under 1:150 here).

No idea what Debenhams maternity clothes are like but they have offers on for a few days, more if you are a card holder.

So when are people having their anomaly scans? Or who has had them?

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 24/09/2015 08:45

I'm 16+3 today and starting to grow and things inside my torso are starting to shift! Can't remember feeling this uncomfortable last time! (But I was very fit and my stomach muscles held everything in!!). My 20 week scan is on the 23rd October so 4 weeks tomorrow!

I did a few baby groups with dd and made 8 fantastic friends who I still see every week now as most have gone back part time. One of them is pregnant again too and due 2 weeks before me so I've got my Mat leave buddy and someone to understand the strains of having 2 under 2 as her lb was born the day after my dd! I had to get out and meet people as I knew no one, we moved here when I was 29 weeks pregnant and have no family here either!

JessieThom · 24/09/2015 09:33

I know the feeling smirking, I feel like I'm huge and uncomfortable already. I think I do remember last time though feeling very strange and uncomfortable when I first started to show, then getting used to it for a while, before feeling very fed up towards the end. Roll on stage 2!

I've got a scan this afternoon, then the anomaly scan in 3 weeks time so lots of lovely opportunities to see them, very exciting! Today's working day is going to feel very long I think!

I have a nice group of friends from my NCT group with DD and one of them is pregnant again too so we should be able to share at least some of our mat leave. There are some lovely mums at my LO's nursery too, but we always seem to be in such a rush dropping her off or picking up before and after work that there isn't much time to chat.

LCR77 · 24/09/2015 10:07

How are your other DCs getting on with your bump? Have you told them yet? Have they started asking questions?

DD seems quite fascinated and seems to get it that there is a baby in mummy's tummy even though she's just turned 2. At storytime before bed she likes to lift my top up and give my tummy a cuddle and a kiss. Last night we read 'There's a house inside my mummy' which was quite lovely and she seemed to get it. Also since we went to my 16 wk appt and heard the heartbeat she keeps mentioning it 'duh-dum-duh-dum-duh-dum' when she lifts my top up. Very cute. I'm sure it'll be a different story when the baby arrives and she's fighting for attention!

hufflebottom · 24/09/2015 10:24

20 weeks scan on the 5th. Can't wait. Dd wants to come to this one as she doesn't want to wait till November to go, but I can't justify taking her out of school to go to it. Especially as it's in the middle of the day and the last time I had to go to that hospital it me an hr to get there and 2 hrs to get back. And that was by train. So Sod's law means she'll miss a day of school. She wants to buy baby a present but told her to wait a little bit longer.

Just curious has anyone been given 29th Feb as their EDD?

JessieThom · 24/09/2015 10:51

That sounds really lovely LCR77! My LO is 20 months and definitely doesn't get what's going on at the moment. We've been trying to talk to her about it for a while now but to be honest I think she's just too little to really understand. I feel like I really need to prepare her as life is going to be quite different, but I just don't know where to start at the moment. If anyone has any good story recommendations for little ones that would be amazing - I might look at the one you mentioned LCR.

DD still nurses before bed, mostly for comfort but I want to nip that in the bud before these two arrive (probably would at this age anyway) and I haven't had the heart to do it yet. She does seem to notice that I'm growing but just sort of nestles on my bump and when I say anything like "That's where the babies are growing" she seems totally disinterested and changes the subject.

I'm hoping we have enough time over the next few months as she grows up a little bit to talk to her about it properly. She isn't a particularly maternal little girl at all yet, and hasn't shown much interest in dolls etc, but I do think she'll be a lovely big sister when it comes to it.

LCR77 · 24/09/2015 10:58

I managed to get that book fairly cheap second hand from Amazon. Your local library may also have some good suitable books Jessie

BTW my friend did have her twins on Tuesday - all arrived safe and sound although one twin has breathing problems and is on intensive care at the moment. Very good weights for twins though 5lb1oz and 5lb10oz

CarrotPuff · 24/09/2015 15:39

I don't have much of a bump to speak of yet, so will wait a bit longer to talk to DS about it. I still don't think he'll be able to understand, but who knows?

My anomaly scan is on the 14th, so less than 3 weeks.

Congrats on twins Jessie. I keep saying I wouldn't want twins because it's so much hard work, but deep inside I think it wold be lovely Smile

My sister is sending back all of my DS's baby stuff, which should arrive on Sat. It will probably make it all a bit more real, but I've no idea where I'm going to put it all! Could put into the loft, but then we'll have to take it down in 3 months again to go through it all and decide if I need to buy anything else. Ideally would want to do that during post Christmas discounts. Oh well, we shall see!

Tiredoftiredness · 24/09/2015 18:08

Hi all, not been on for a while due to all the MN issues! Glad to see everyone's well and scans are looking good. I've got my 20week scan tomorrow-will be really glad to see the monster that keeps kicking me constantly!

JessieThom · 25/09/2015 09:34

Ahh that’s nice to hear LCR, congratulations to your friend! :) I’m planning a trip to the library tomorrow morning for suitable books!

Thanks Carrotpuff, it is lovely, if a little daunting! They weren’t cooperating at my last scan so no idea of genders yet, but I’m very glad we went for mainly unisex stuff with DD so a lot of that can be re-used. I think there’s even some stuff that was never worn.

Best of luck to all with scans etc coming up!

Happytimes2 · 27/09/2015 01:23

Is it wrong I've just worked out I've got 15 weeks left at work and I know I have at least 3 weeks of holiday within that so only really 12 weeks. Hurrah! Best go order my mat uniform!
When is everyone else starting mat leave?

SunnyL · 27/09/2015 09:19

Happy are you one of the early duedates on here? I've not decided when to leave yet but safe to say I've got months and months to go!

hufflebottom · 27/09/2015 09:53

I'm gonna go middle of January. Just gotta pop back to midwife as I forgot to pick up my matb1 the last time I was there. Whoops. Means I've it 6 weeks to get it and send it off

Happytimes2 · 28/09/2015 01:46

Yeah I am due beginning of Feb so leaving first week in Jan so 4w before I'm due if I last that long as I have quite a physical job!
I have to ring my mw to ask her to do a mat b for me and then collect it from Dr. She didn't even say anything about it it was me that asked cos I don't see her till 34 weeks! I know people who have had their babies then. I will see a hospital mw though for anti d inj but last time she didn't do much.

CarrotPuff · 28/09/2015 12:31

I'm still looking for a job and if I get one I'll probably work as long as I can. I have to start working next week to qualify for MA which probably won't happen Sad Unless I get offered a job at my interview on Friday straight away. Highly unlikely. Speaking of the interview, I need to find a shirt that will conceal my modest bump!

hufflebottom · 28/09/2015 12:54

Have a look in h&m. They had some nice bits.

Woke up this morning with a noticeable bump which got odd looks in the playground this morning.

Feeling really rough today, sore throat, blocked nose, headache. Paracetamol has worked but would it be bad if I went for a sleep.
Feel better than yesterday though. Made a complete arse of myself at work yesterday, a colleague said something to me as a joke and I burst into tears. So it's well and truly around work now not too bad lasted almost 5 months.

hufflebottom · 28/09/2015 16:48

Sorry ladies. Getting all excited now finally felt the fidget child moving. Makes up for it making me feel uncomfortable all the time.

LastOneDancing · 28/09/2015 20:12

Hello All - hope everyone is well!!
Sorry Ive not been around for ages either - yet another victim of the MN app deletion and trying to get on via the web is painful! Gah!
Dug all my old maternity stuff out of the loft yesterday so I have doubled my wardrobe! Hooray! Although its mostly black items and depressing.
I'm starting to think about where Im going to find my Mum friends for Mat Leave too, last time I did NCT and the ladies were (are) fabulous, but I cant justify the three million pounds again. I might try their bumps and babies instead.

SunnyL · 29/09/2015 15:18

Had a classic one today. I came clean at work yesterday which included emailing my colleague who is working remotely to tell her I was pregnant. Her response was 'well i did wonder but you don't want to tell someone they're putting on a few pounds'.

She's 25 stone on a good day FFS!

ThursdayLastWeek · 30/09/2015 08:11

Hello friends, sorry, this fell off my TIO.

Waves hello to Jessie again!

Il catch up with the thread, but I have GREAT news!
I saw my consultant yesterday and he gave me the go ahead for an ELCS! No fuss, no fight, be was so sympathetic and rally helped clear up some of what went wrong with DS birth too.

So I'm buzzing!

hufflebottom · 30/09/2015 08:28

That's brill Thursday.
