Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

I'm on the app, so wondering if it's something in there. Confusing.

SunnyL · 19/09/2015 14:01

Flaming eck. Ordered some mat clothes off Asos - how big are the sizes? I'm exactly the same weight as last time but a smaller size in the trousers. Even with cinching in all the waistbands they're hanging off me. Vanity sizing seems to have gone crazy in the last few years.

hufflebottom · 19/09/2015 15:06

Result! After 3 weeks of dd saying she hates boys and doesn't want a brother, out of the blue yesterday she told everyone at my dinner table that she's wants a brother and wants to call him Elliot! Quite like that name myself and it's definitely growing on me. Just want to find out now though.

Brindler · 19/09/2015 20:29

Ha ha Sunny I brought a second hand maternity coat today for winter and I look like a child wearing my dads coat! Looks utterly ridiculous at the moment!

That's great Hufflebottom! All I get from my dd is 'I dont like boys!'. Also desperate to find out so I know whether to push the issue any further. Another girl would def be easier - I've kept literally everything of dds since she was born and she's now 4!

MayFlowers16 · 19/09/2015 20:53

Great that you got to hear hb carrot I don't see my midwife until 28 weeks as I had a consultant's appointment at 14 weeks (which she said replaces my 16 week mw apt) and it's my second so they don't care worry about you so much.

Interesting about feeling more movement when baby is high up. I carried high last time (think I am this time too) and I have a posterior placenta this time so this bean's been kicking me for weeks now. I even had a visible kick at 19 weeks!

CarrotPuff · 19/09/2015 21:28

Ah, maternity coat. I wasn't very happy with the one I bought on eBay last time. It was size 10, but was a bit too tight. I could live with it though as DS was born in November. This time I'll have to wear it the whole winter, so maybe I'll invest in a new one.

DS is too young to have preferences yet, but I think it will be another boy.

Happytimes2 · 20/09/2015 01:50

Just want to say hi. I'm due Feb and have ds who is 2 yrs 5mth.
I never even thought of a proper mat coat. Last time I was in my no all big winter coat until Nov/Dec ish and after that I had a lovely sort of swig one that only had 3 buttons at the top. It was good cos I've worn it after ds as well

Happytimes2 · 20/09/2015 01:52

I've not told ds yet as I thought it would b easier to say ure having a bro/sis he's spotted I'm getting fatter though!

Qwertybynature · 20/09/2015 02:30

Hello everyone! Congrats on the scans that I've missed.

Still having horrible bouts of insomnia, I'm exhausted. Although just to rub it in I'm catching up on a little as dh is looking after ds while I have an afternoon snooze on the sunloungers Grin

Love the name Elliott, it's my ds's name.

Bump has grown on holiday but didn't manage to tell work before I went away. Might get a few funny looks turning up in mat clothes when I get back.

Also looking for coats as I was pregnant through the summer with ds. Someone suggested a cape-style one that you can still wear afterwards (& will grow with the bump) but haven't found any I like yet.

SunnyL · 20/09/2015 08:02

I've got a cape for non-maternity wear which I'll still wear. the problem is its not waterproof and gets a bit drafty. I walk everywhere -work, to nursery, dog walks etc. Last time I just bought a ginormous cagoule that kept the rain off but it was summer. I'll need something warmer this time that's also waterproof. From the looks on google I'll also get myself a unicorn that poos glitter at the same time Grin

IndomitabIe · 20/09/2015 08:45

Hello! I discovered Vertbaudet yesterday, they have non-hideous maternity clothing. And some are available in more than size 6 and 22! (Literally every other website I've looked at has the grossest trousers in only tiny or huge). They've got some decent looking reasonably priced coats too, a couple of which convert to baby-wearing coats. (They've also got a 30% off sale on at the moment too).

Last time (pregnant at the same time of year) I wore DHs coats during and after.

IndomitabIe · 20/09/2015 08:48

Oh, I should clarify that my ideas about maternity clothing are considerably clouded by my Tom Boy type style. The overt femininity of pregnancy bothers me. I realise that most people are perfectly happy with pregnancy and maternity clothes! I don't want anyone to think I'm criticising their choice of clothes. I've got issues!

hufflebottom · 20/09/2015 09:49

Might have a look on there. Really didn't like the selection in mothercare.

RooibosTeaAgain · 20/09/2015 10:17

huffle - I drove to Mothercare yesterday. 3 rows of clothes. Nothing to buy! That was my last hope before online!

IndomitabIe · 20/09/2015 10:23

In the major city in my county the only places that stock maternity clothes are mothercare (seriously, how are they still in business?), debenhams and H&M. None has much to choose from and is suffering from the improbably-tiny or 20+ only size ranges. I swear I've seen loads more ranges since I had DS until I actually needed to buy them. I got really angry with it!

hufflebottom · 20/09/2015 17:32

Rooibos, I've got a mothercare round the corner. If I want dresses I'm fine. I'm not a dress girl. ??However did order my maternity work skirt and its soooo comfy.??Just a shame lumpy won't move to somewhere that's more comfy for me.

Crispylicious · 20/09/2015 21:46

Hello all! Bloody MN keeps breaking my phone, so I've been AWOL a while!

I'm trying to not buy any more mat clothes this time, but definitely need some new jeans, oh and maybe a nice t shirt to match... Luckily topshop never have my size in, so I've not bought anything yet! Asos were pretty good last time. When I'm about 6 months preggers I'll need something suitable for a glam winter wedding, which may be challenging! Not sure what I'm going to do about coats. May try Primarni for a cape/cacoon style jobby.

I'm still getting preggo insomnia but have discovered a sleep relaxation/hypnotherapy app, which has been sending me back to sleep in 20 mins, amazing! Although maybe it's just that I'm so tired I'm passing out again...

hufflebottom · 20/09/2015 22:32

Ooo what's the app?

Crispylicious · 21/09/2015 12:05

Hi huffle I use the Glen Harrold relax and sleep well one. There's a recording in it called deep sleep, which is free and seems to do the trick! A bit woo, but seems to work!

JessieThom · 21/09/2015 14:20

Hello!

Please could I join you all? I'm currently 15+3 with my twins, and they'll be my second and third babies. Like many of you, this pregnancy is proving very different to my third, even aside from the challenge of running after my LO, who is 20 months and a bundle of energy.

It'd be lovely to share the journey with others in a similar position!

J xx

SunnyL · 21/09/2015 15:21

Twins! Wowzer was that a surprise or are there lots of twins in your family?

I've a couple of friends with twins and I know they've really benefited from a local twins group for support.

LCR77 · 22/09/2015 10:17

Finally got the mat clothes out of the loft this weekend. Although was summer last time when I was heavily pregnant so will have to invest in some more. Just bought a nice cardi and long sleeve tops from New Look from their maternity range and some jeans from Next clearance. Handily my Winter coat last year was a robe-style coat with a belt so should do me fine.

Congrats on your twins Jessie - my friend is due to deliver her twins today by c-section. So very excited for her and even more so because it's my birthday too and I'll get to share it with them.

JessieThom · 22/09/2015 11:07

Thank you, SunnyL and LCR77! It was a bit of a shock to be honest, but a lovely one; there haven’t been twins in the family for a good few generations but my grandmother remembers having cousins and aunts and uncles who were twins. I’ve been looking into local twins groups, and there are a couple that I could join. Is anyone doing NCT this time ‘round? I did with my first pregnancy and made some good friends but I don’t think I’ll do it again.

Happy birthday LCR77 and congratulations to your friend on her babies too!

I’m well into the maternity clothes now, and my LO’s birthday is in January so thankfully I’ve got a coat etc that should do the job… it’s nice to have a couple of new things too though! I’m on the lookout for sales and reductions. :)

LCR77 · 22/09/2015 12:10

Not doing NCT this time round as don't think it necessary for the course part plus the cost. Bit sad the new baby won't have any NCT buddies but then again our group haven't been particularly close. There are few other mums with LOs same age as DD due similar time so going to be nice to share mat leave with them and not have to make new mum friends. One due week before me and other week after.

Qwertybynature · 22/09/2015 15:23

Oh wow, congratulations Jessie my DH is desperate for twins but they don't run in either of our families. TAMBA really helped both of my friends who had twins, and they've both made some good friends with other twin-mums.

Im not doing NCT this time either, a few friends will be on mat leave & I know some local groups to meet mum-mates if I feel the need.
