Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

OP posts:

hufflebottom · 02/09/2015 15:16

I'm so behind I need to catch up.
Been hiding the last few days as I have felt totally pants since work last weekend.

Did is back to school tomorrow so will try and catch up on sleep too.

Just wish I could shift the insomnia I've got at the moment.

LCR77 · 02/09/2015 15:18

Thanks Gothic Def not morning sickness because I haven't had any with either pregnancy. Mega sleep seems to have sorted it. Still feeling a bit groggy but appetite is back. London was work so no nothing too fun!

GothicRainbow · 02/09/2015 17:27

My toddler is constantly clambering about all over me, I keep telling him to be careful but it's not sinking in - think the new baby will have to be a tough cookie!

I'm currently flaked out on the sofa with a hot choc pretending my house doesn't look like a complete shit tip!!! DS is rolling about on the floor watching what feels like his 100th episode of ben and holly today! Wish this tiredness would do one!

HarimadSol · 02/09/2015 18:29

Crispy, I'm still breastfeeding DD, 12 mo, four times per day. It seems to be going fine still. She occasionally forgets to 'ask' for one of her middle of the day feeds, so I'm guessing she's slowly dropping one. My EDD is 27 Feb, so she'll be almost 18 months. How's it going for you?

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 03/09/2015 07:32

I combination fed DD up to 6 months but wished I'd continued longer! I plan to ebf no2 but don't know how successful I will be with 19 month old tearing around!

Well done on the pram front - I'm hoping to test drive an uppa baby vista 2015 soon as I really need a pram I can put newborns car seat on!

marmitemofo · 03/09/2015 07:44

I bf DD till 15 months when she self weaned during the day and I weaned her from a bedtime/morning feed in the misguided hope she'd sleep better at night . Her sleep got worse due to teething and she didn't start regularly sleeping through for another four months. This time I hope to make it to 18 months, maybe 2 years.

I'm not buying a double buggy will I regret it? There'll only be one day when I have both DD and new baby by myself (DS is I'm nursery/grandma care four days a week) so I'm hoping I can get away without?

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/09/2015 08:00

A lot of my friends all have icandy's and I have been stinking jealous for about 18months! I meant to wait a bit longer to buy it, but it seemed like a good deal. DS will just be turning 3 when this one is due, so I think we'll get a buggy board. He's a v good walker, just not always in the direction required...

I'm quite looking forward to BFing again, without the angst of last time. I'm certain it'll be easier this time, I hope I'm not fooling myself. DS and fed until he was 16mo and by then he was just having a morning feed and not even too bothered about that so I reclaimed my bosom!

I did a really long run last night and now I am aching all over! But I'm determined to run my local half marathon this month if it kills me it probably will

Crispylicious · 03/09/2015 08:10

I never planned to BF this long, but DD has always been a bit of a boob monster! It's going ok thanks hari. She is def wanting less now I'm pregnant, so about 2.5 times a day. I'd like to get to 2 years, but will follow her lead, so haven't ruled out tandeming! The midwives all seem v surprised I'm still feeding...

marmite I'm planning to get a double buggy. I walk a lot and think life will be easier with DD1 trapped in a buggy! I'm eyeing on the mountain duet, but it's super expensive.

smirking I've been meaning to say, I love your name! It's one of DD's favourite toys - there is something oddly satisfying about it [grin

Hope those who've been feeling poorly are a bit better today.

Brindler · 03/09/2015 08:17

Morning ladies just to let you know our scan was a success yesterday! So relieved and excited now, can finally let myself believe it's really happening!

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/09/2015 08:35

Yay Brindler - so how far along are you?

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 03/09/2015 09:47

crispy it's my arch nemesis, the amount of times I've nearly broken my ankle on the damn singing picnic basket and it just smirks back at me! Hate it!

I'm definitely getting a double to strap DD into, she'll only be 19 months and although is walking now I think she would get tired and I like to walk!

I daren't say it too loudly but since having the worst weekend for sickness and exhaustion I seem to have turned a corner (frantically touching wood so as not to jinx myself!), I've felt better since Tuesday and had more energy to sort my shit tip of a house out, I mentally feel better and want to get stuff done!

It's my work day today. DH took DD to nursery and I've just had a lovely lie in, now to head to my laptop in my pjs to start work! The perks of not going back to teaching between babies and one of the reasons we are having them so close together is teaching with ms last time round was like hell on earth! I am very jealous of you teachers meeting new classes today and having that lovely new term feel but obviously feel for you if you are struggling at the same time! I do plan to go back when little gets to a year!

Brindler · 03/09/2015 21:39

Thanks Thursday. I'm 12+4 today - due dates been moved forward a day to 12 March. Now to hunt for winter maternity clothes! So typical my first dd was born in early October so all my last mat clothes are summer stuff!

RooibosTeaAgain · 03/09/2015 22:41

Congrats on good scan Brindler

Hope things continue well now Smirking. Can I ask, are you running 2 maternity leaves together or did you stop teaching after last baby? just ask as I am currently on mat leave and need to decide whether to return and then go off or not. Not sure of financial implications if I run 2 together ( am in odd situation of being on mat leave due to stillbirth so can stay off a year but do not need to. I chose to do mat leave rather than ask for sick leave as felt right thing to do and cannot be chased by OH etc then. But as found myself unexpected pregnant unsure what to do and chose not to return in Sept as wanted to give this pregnancy a good chance to get to 13 weeks as am not young either etc!) ( sorry - no need to answer!)

Have scan next week. So nervous. Did not lose weight after last pregnancy so struggling with normal clothes fitting and doubt my maternity clothes will as am 1.5st heavier - not great. Was pleased BMI was just ok (30.5) at booking apt - though they only act if over 35, phew - as was worried it was 30. But due to age (40) I am a pre-eclampsia risk according to my notes - except midwife missed that bit ( mm, tempted to fill it in but will not right now! I have annotated 2 sets of hand held notes due to appalling errors in the past that were more important, so am trying to be good! To be fair my consultant agreed with my amendments but know am not meant to, sigh!)

bex198443 · 04/09/2015 01:29

Smile hey ladies I'm back lol! Hectic last few weeks of holidays! Got my 20 week scan on the 17th! Day before my bday yay and ill be bang in 20 weeks!

I feel huge! And uncomfortable now already! Living in leggings and vest tops lol! (Mainly pj's really! ) so I figured out that if I sleep over 6 hours a day I feel awful so been having 6 hrs sleep a night and literally bouncing off the walls and feeling fab! It's so weird as I love my sleep haha!

I've told my dd (4) that baby will be here after Xmas. . So that means I'll only have 6 weeks of when they coming etc...

Hope everyone's feeling ok Grin and FYI if ur still being sick stay away from super noodles Confused found out the hard way lol [sick]

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 04/09/2015 07:50

rooibos no not running two mat leaves together! We relocated when I was pregnant with DD so I took mat leave from that job, we moved and I've not applied for a new job yet. At the moment I'm self employed selling second hand stuff on eBay which covers the mortgage but don't really enjoy it that much but it's a small price to pay for 6 out of 7 days a week with DD! I will go back to teaching after children! Sorry I've not been much help - if I was in your situation I would go back for a bit when you feel up to it mentally and physically and then take a new maternity leave again that way you show willing to get back to work and get the maximum amount of time off with baby afterward (although I'm not sure how it works with rolling two mat leaves together - whether you can take them back to back and have all the time off or they overlap of you see what I mean!!) only go back if you feel up to it though - it's a stressful job and I'd you think it will impact your pregnancy don't go back! I went on early mat leave at 29 weeks as we moved and it was the best thing I did - I would have been far to het up and stressed if I'd gone all the way to the end!

Feel like a crap mum - DD has been walking about a month and fell yesterday whacking her nose off the dining room chair, she had a nose bleed and a small cut under her nose! She is fine, is eating and drinking, slept well and is now playing as she usually would but I just feel awful and can't help following her round everywhere she goes now just in case she hurts herself again! Breaks my heart to see her little nose so sore!

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 04/09/2015 09:35

Oh and ditto on the clothes front! I am now 2st heavier than the first time round so normal clothes don't fit me comfortably and I don't think my maternity ones will although I was pg through summer last time so nothing is warm enough! I will have to go buy more but hate shopping when I hate my body! I don't even know what size I am to confidently shop online either!

Brindler · 04/09/2015 10:06

Snap Rooibos and Smirking! Also starting this pregnancy at least 1.5st heavier than when I fell with dd. Does not bode well! I'll be coming home from the labour ward via slimming world in March!

Qwertybynature · 04/09/2015 10:15

Morning! I've missed a few days and some new joiners I think

Congratulations on your scan Brindler

I think we have the same scan date Rooibos - not sure if I want the weekend to go quickly or not.

I'm also having clothing crisis; currently sporting unflattering muffin-tops as I forgot that when I'm pregnant my arse thinks it's in competition with my stomach. It's a great look. H&M and Asos are great if you can't face the shame of the changing room mirrors like me. I usually order next size up and most of the time it's ok.

Don't feel bad Smirking, unfortunately it'll probably be the first bump of many. My DS scaled the sofa once and cracked his head off the radiator (it was on); left a nice burn /cut and I thought he'd be scarred for life. I was sat literally 1ft away and I still have no idea how he managed to climb up so quickly. Felt like the crappest mum ever and rang DH in tears, slightly melodramatic in hindsight!

SunnyL · 04/09/2015 15:31

Afternoon all. I had my booking appointment today and I've now given myself permission to start getting excited about this pregnancy.

I'm quite hormonal though. I took DD to in the Night Garden Live today and started crying when iggle piggle came on stage on his boat.

I also teared up at work when I told my line manager (and friend) I'm pregnant.

Daft bint.

Qwertybynature · 04/09/2015 15:51

Sunny I did the same thing when I took ds to see it, I find the music really sad for some reason. Thank god it's dark hey!

SunnyL · 04/09/2015 18:07

Oh and on the chunk status I was horrified to find out I was exactly the same weight today as I was at my booking appointment with DD. That is a problem because last time i went on weight watchers when she was born and got down to within 7lbs of my target weight before losing interest. Whoops

GothicRainbow · 04/09/2015 19:36

Congrats on the scan Brindler. I've been super emotional this week too, doesn't help that everytime I'm on FB or switch on the news there's frightened people with babies and children - feel emotionally wrung out!

I've got to start packing for our week away tomorrow - totally dreading it as I'm going to have to try on clothes, my normal stuff is now getting too tight and my maternity stuff is still baggy - argh!

I'm currently sat in my DS' room waiting for him to go to sleep, takes up to an hour some nights - no idea what I'm going to do once I have a newborn to deal with too!

GothicRainbow · 04/09/2015 19:38

Oh and smirking really don't feel bad it's happened to all of us. My DS tripped in the garden and hit the brick wall on our raised flower bed - loads of blood and tears and a trip to a&e for us.

This Monday he slipped in the kitchen and bit down on his lip. Again loads of blood and tears - these things happen by they bounce back!

ThursdayLastWeek · 04/09/2015 19:49

Ack DS has been damaging himself regularly since birth I reckon!

Yesterday at the park he kept spinning other kids around on the roundabout but going so fast he would spin off and fall over. It was hilarious, but as I sat watching him from afar I saw many many many other mums looking horrified and looking for me! DS would jump up, laughing madly, and resume spinning!

I'm at the v annoying stage where normal clothes too tight, maternity stuff doesn't stay up! I'll be glad post-scan when I can be totally out in the open and let it all hang out Grin

Qwertybynature · 05/09/2015 22:00

Crazy hormones kicking in anyone? Nausea has subsided and has been replaced by continual waterworks. I've just cried at Jess Glynn singing on strictly Blush. My DH pretended not to notice but was a bit Confused
