Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

Waves hello. Expecting my second and bricking it tbh - the thought of a newborn and a toddler is filling me with dread. EDD March 3 dating scan on 21 Aug so not long to go.

I was nervous and apprehensive with my first as had had MC but also very excited. Finding it hard to drum up excitement this time. Although whenever DD does something that melts my heart, I do have a pang of 'I'm going to have another one of you'

Things that are hurting my brain right now are...
Massive first trimester exhaustion
Balancing toddler tantrums and newborn 24/7 care
Toddler and baby sharing a room (DD is VERY noisy at bedtime)
Potty training
Extra childcare costs

It's going to be ok isn't it???? Sorry for the negativity...

LastOneDancing · 12/08/2015 12:33

Hi LCR

Course it's going to be ok! Grin
How old is your DD?

Childcare wise I'm hoping DC2 going into nursery will coincide with DS1 getting his free hours so fx it won't change too much.

I wonder about the newborn/toddler combo. I can't imagine that first day alone when DH goes back to work. But you know what - millions of women have done it and are doing it right now. We're going to be fine! Smile

Boosiehs · 12/08/2015 12:50

hello all

im 16 wks with DS2. due 27 Jan although will be earlier as am having ELCS due to horrendous birth of DS1.

still feeling shit, and now have fecked my back up. WHY am i doing this again????

hufflebottom · 12/08/2015 13:03

Boosiesh, it seemed like a good idea at the time......

hufflebottom · 12/08/2015 13:04

Boosiehs....sorry will get people's names right

LCR77 · 12/08/2015 13:08

Thanks LastOne just keep having the occasional wobble particularly when I've had a challenging day with DD. She's 23 months so will be 2 and a half when baby arrives. At work today so no excuse!

Need to stop worrying really especially as we have lots of family support locally who will be more than happy to help out if things get too much.

Boosiehs cos it seemed like a good idea at the time!! Hope you manage to get some rest if you can if you're feeling rubbish. Have some Cake always helps Wink

Raeside · 12/08/2015 19:01

Welcome LCR and Boos !

I am dying, I have decided. The combo of unmedicated tonsillitis and morning sickness is a deathly one. Add in work and then toddler wrangling and it equals a text to my husband requesting he come home early to do bath time as I need a lie-down. I'll get back up for BakeOff obvs, someone has to boo at Paul Hollywood, but for now I'm in bed. Bliss. But oh god self pity levels at all time high.

I'm totally with you on the brain whirling around going 'omg how will I cope with two?'

SunnyL · 12/08/2015 20:18

I'm joining you Rae on the deathbed (where I'm watching Bake Off from). Feeling fecking awful most days and today I'm particularly tired and wooden.

Came this >< close to telling my line manager today just because I was feeling so sorry for myself and wanted some sympathy.

Raeside · 12/08/2015 20:39

Poor us, Sunny - totally agree on wanting to tell people but not in order to share the joy but rather to share the misery! It feels churlish to complain this early on, particularly as anything could still happen, but feeling specially pathetic tonight.

Hello, sorry for not posting in a while. I was getting a bit stressed about my scan date not arriving, then got all stressed about my scan etc etc. I wasn't good company!

Anyway, I had my scan a couple of weeks ago, combined test came out at low risk and I'm now 16 weeks (edd 27th jan)

I'm still knackered and only eating beige food though, with indigestion and restless legs to add to the joy. I think my first and third trimester and just going to merge and the 'golden' trimester ain't gonna happen here! But I am very happy and grateful to be pregnant and overall I am counting my blessings.

To all who are wondering how they're gonna cope with a toddler and a newborn - I share your worries!

RooibosTeaAgain · 12/08/2015 22:05

Sorry to hear people I'll or pregnancy illness, sounds horrid. Hope you get right treatment Rae

Congrats to those with encouraging scans and thinking of those yet to have them.

Today we had the scan been waiting 2.5 weeks for. Today we saw a 13mm embryo with a heartbeat. Sonographer did not mention anything about heartbeat apart from saying it was there and only measurement was the embryo so no idea about anything else. No sign of why bled from scan but did not see a Dr or have any other tests. Got my notes but did not have a proper booking in slot. measured 7+4 today. Next appointment is 12 week scan in Sept. If I bleed again know who to ring but told unlikely to get a scan before 12 week one - they too busy ( a lady had to wait 10 days recently for an emergency scan after bleeding) and they would only see me if they were concerned for my safety due to excessive loss etc. So an anxious wait, 4 weeks or so. But thankful to have this chance.

ThursdayLast · 12/08/2015 22:11

Rooibos I think that sounds positive - if they were more concerned you'd have known about it I'm sure.

Hear hear for booing old man Hollywood. I haven't seen tonight's yet though.

I went for a run thus eve and stumbled across a Red Arrows display Smile was amazing!

hufflebottom · 12/08/2015 23:19

Oooo red arrows. (Plane nut house here!)

Roos, I agree they would of said something if there was a concern. The next few weeks will/should go fairly quick.

ThursdayLast · 13/08/2015 07:33

Booking in today Smile
Do they ask about birth preferences this early? I can't remember

hufflebottom · 13/08/2015 07:42

I didn't get asked. But I'm not likely to get a preference.

ThursdayLast · 13/08/2015 07:50

Why's that huffle?

hufflebottom · 13/08/2015 08:54

I had high blood pressure with dd. I'm going to have to go in to hospital. My blood pressure is starting to go slightly high already and I'm normally as cool as a cucumber. Hmm

hufflebottom · 13/08/2015 08:56

Hoping it's only going high because stupid dp is being knobby.
Would like to be given the option, but doubt I will.

LastOneDancing · 13/08/2015 09:31

Great news Rooibos!

I wasn't asked about preferences at booking either but I'll be under consultant care for previous CS so hospital or hospital will be the 'choice' presented to me Confused

Maybe I should freebirth?!

ThursdayLast · 13/08/2015 09:32

Ah bummer, yes my BP gives higher during pregnancy/labour. I was induced because it was getting stupidly high with DS - I was 41 weeks already though.

I really really want an ELCS.

ThursdayLast · 13/08/2015 09:33

Oh does a previous cs mean consultant care?

ThursdayLast · 13/08/2015 09:34

Did your MWs have your previous pregnancy notes when you saw them thus time?

Indomitable · 13/08/2015 09:53

Good question Thursday.

When I rang to book my booking in appointment the mw asked about where I'd like to give birth. I was only about 4 weeks pregnant and thought it was jumping the gun, rather!

I had meconium in waters last time so had to transfer from lovely MW unit to Big Hosp. Then had huge tear, so was glad to already be in the right place for surgery!

Hoping to avoid both outcomes this time.

LastOneDancing · 13/08/2015 10:10

Thursday I was told as I had a EMCS that I automatically ticked the 'obstetric factors' box and would go under consultant care - I guess that means at least one meeting with a consultant to decide my fate?

They didn't have any previous notes, just the history I gave them.

It might be different area to area though - I'm under Birmingham Heartlands.

ThursdayLast · 13/08/2015 10:14

Ah ok, I expect I'll be the same then. Although I do boggle at how different different trusts can be!
Mostly I'm just excited to meet my MW and get the ball rolling with scans etc
