Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

Rooibos I just dived up to urgent care. It was 3 days before my booking in.

It put my mind at rest

Trinpy · 03/08/2015 20:40

Rooibos can you get a telephone appointment instead? GPs will usually do them for this sort of thing and I've never had a problem getting a telephone appointment the same day at any of the practices I've been with.

Last I think you should have green notes for each pregnancy to record what appointments youve had. Are you seeing the mw again before your 12 week scan?

CinammonGirl · 03/08/2015 20:58

Hi everyone, mind if I join you? I'm due baby no 2 on 6 January :) DD is 4.5 years old and burst into tears when we told her she was going to be a big sister! She seems to be coming round to the idea a bit more now thankfully. I'm finding I'm much more tired with this pregnancy - I worked full time when pregnant with DD and have been a SAHM since I had her. She is starting school nursery at the end of August so I might actually get some time to nap!!

Tiredoftiredness · 03/08/2015 20:59

Hello, just spotted this thread and would like to Join please.

I'm 29, have a 4yo DS and am currently 12+4. Had my scan last week and all looked fine so now trying to convince myself that it is real and maybe even get a bit excited!

I'm rather nervous this time as DS was born at 30+6 thanks to preeclampsia, and I'm also far more aware of the amazing amount of things that can go wrong in pregnancy than I was last time Shock

Consultant led so currently have no less than 5 appointments in my diary, feeling very popular at least!

CinammonGirl · 03/08/2015 21:10

Hi tired we are in the same boat then - DD was born at 31wks exactly due to an infection I had (they think!) so I'm a lot more nervous this time and also under the care of a consultant. They've been very good so far and have said I can have extra scans which is good. I am also finding I'm more aware of all that can go wrong this time whereas I wasnt nearly so anxious last time. I'm starting to relax with each week that passes though and looking forward to my 20wk scan in a couple of weeks!

ThursdayLast · 03/08/2015 21:41

Gosh Tired and Cinammon 31 weeks?? That's incredible.

I did a Pilates class this evening, my teacher was really helpful - trying to give me tips whilst not letting the whole class know I'm knocked up Grin

bex198443 · 03/08/2015 21:47

I don't get my green.notes till after my scan boo.... midwife did say it's all changing tho and it's all gonna be online or sumat I dunno lol the way she described it was like you'd get an.ipad but obviously she meant they get the ipad and our notes are online.lol xx

SunnyL · 04/08/2015 07:41

I'd love online notes. The number of times I had to ring DH to meet me at the surgery because I'd forgotten to take them with me.

The big blue notes is also an easy way to spot who is pregnant in my village!

LastOneDancing · 04/08/2015 08:27

Ah, yes bex - they were fiddling about with an ipad and it took forever to take my info so maybe I'm on the new online system?

I had visions of being turned away from my scan if I didn't take anything. I used to like seeing what they'd written about me on my green notes (nothing, boring).

LastOneDancing · 04/08/2015 08:28

Wow tired and cinnamon - here's wishing you all the best for long, calm and uneventful pregnancies this time around Thanks

Raeside · 04/08/2015 08:53

Welcome tired and cinnamon and I join in the wows! in respect to your early babies. Fingers crossed for an easier ride this time around....

How are you doing, Rooibus?

I have been fine, distracted by work and a shitty drive there and back, and visitors from Australia, etc etc, but I have realised I'm getting very little of the tugging and pulling feelings in my uterus that I am sure I remember from last time. I've been feeling pretty chill until I realised this. Do you think my uterus is just still enormo from the last pregnancy (!!!) and thus not doing so much stretching?

Trinpy · 04/08/2015 10:04

hello tired and cinnamon.

I hope I still get green notes this time round! I'm very nosey. And I like being able to see all the baby's measurements after my scan.

Tiredoftiredness · 04/08/2015 22:27

Thanks all, and hello fellow 31 weeker mum! Have to say DS is absolutely fine now, but I'm definitely hoping not to repeat the prem baby experience.

Very odd how notes seem to vary around the country, ive been given a white booklet thing. I like reading through it after appointments as I seem to go into a daze each time and completely ignore anything I've been told.

How have everyone's elder DC taken the news (if you've broken it)?

bex198443 · 05/08/2015 00:22

Hello tiredoftiredness I was told I'd be one of the last having green notes and my booking app was about 3 weeks ago lol don't recieve notes till after scan tho boo!! I have 2 other kids my 13yo ds was pretty chilled about it my 4yo dd is far to excited!!! She keeps telling me all the things she's gonna do with baby etc ???? hoping the novelty wears off before baba arrives lol! Have you told your kids yet?xx

ThursdayLast · 05/08/2015 08:10

I haven't told DS yet as I'm pretty certain he'd start parroting it to all and sundry.
I'm not sure he'll really understand what it means to be honest. Hmm I don't know.

ThursdayLast · 05/08/2015 08:11

He's only 2.4 btw. And gas practically no experience of any other pregnant lady!

Raeside · 05/08/2015 08:28

I haven't told my DS either, he was only 2 in May and I think until my gut gets huge there's not a lot of point as at this stage in their thinking they don't connect pathways as easily until there's visual cues, so big gut = baby. I think it should be fine though as he thinks babies are hell interesting at the moment...

Would like to put in a formal complaint about night nausea. Woke up at 2am feeling so grim, spent next 2.5hrs tossing and turning and wondering when I was going to have to get up and chunder. Face like a green witch, this morning. WTF is with night nausea? Lord.

OP posts:
SunnyL · 05/08/2015 09:05

Oh god. I was all worried about lack of symptoms last week. Now I can only dream of that carefree time.

Nausea is far worse this time round. Last time when i felt a bit queasy I'd eat a gingernut amd feel much better. This time nothing makes me feel better until about 1pm when the nausea abates but the crushing tiredness appears. Thank god I'm only working part time. Just wish it was possible to go to work in my pjs with no bra because I can't stand any pressure on my body.

ThursdayLast · 05/08/2015 09:07

That's exactly it. Nausea til after lunch, then crushing tiredness. If I'm able to squeeze in a nap somewhere I can be productive around 5-6pm and then I'm done in again!

Come on first trimester, do one.

lutrinae · 05/08/2015 09:54

The 1st trimester really is pants. V glad to be in the 2nd. You'll get through it ladies Flowers

Just had an appointment with the consultant, because I had a pph last time will need a managed 3rd stage (fine) and possibly a hormone drop and to be in the consultant-led unit. Really wanted to be in the midwife led unit but we'll see. They say there are still pools etc in the former. What's it like? Really medicalised or not much difference?

DS is 2.5 and knows, he will tell anyone he can that there's a baby in my tummy! But doesn't fully understand.
We showed him the scan. He commented that it was dark in mummy's tummy and that he wanted to get back in!
No chance mate.

Raeside · 05/08/2015 09:58

I just booked a viability scan for Monday. Gulp.

OP posts:
SunnyL · 05/08/2015 10:03

Lut i was in the midwife led unit last time and it was lovely. A big private room with 2 beds (one for DH and one for me) and a pool. Sadly i didn't get to use the pool as they said i wasn't dilated enough except I went from 5cm to 10cm in 30 minutes and by then there was no time to get in. to be fair it had taken me 56 hours to get to 5cm so I can see why they said not to get in the pool yet.

I've got my hopes pinned on that pool for this one.

lutrinae · 05/08/2015 10:08

Yeah I was in the birthing centre last time and it was like a big private hotel room. I gave birth in the pool. Was lovely until the pph.

lutrinae · 05/08/2015 10:10

Well, perhaps 'lovely' is stretching it a bit!
Best of luck Rae

hufflebottom · 05/08/2015 10:12

I haven't told dd yet. She's 5. Totally messed up as my due date is 3 days before her 6th birthday. Confused She wants a party. She's going to be upset when I tell her the best I can do is a meal or bowling for a couple of friends because mummy and stepdad decided to give her a brother or sister.

Will tell her after my scan on Monday. Gives her the summer hols to calm down before going back to school

Rooibos, how are you doing? Thanks
