Could you phone your midwife melon? I would, they should know for sure.

It's our 5th wedding anniversary today! We've both got the day off to go to bluewater to have a look at some of the bigger items. I fancy the uppababy vista, can't wait to see it properly (sad aren't i!). I'm hoping DH still wants to go, he didn't get in until 1am (he's a fire fighter, was on an exercise that took a lot longer than planned), came home, showered had about 40 minutes of sleep and was called out again! And he's still not back... Bless him. He did call to say we're still going but I see it being a shorter trip if he's shattered.

I decided against the private scan to find out the sex, I read it wrong for a start and it's £80, not £50. We'll have our 20 week scan in 4 weeks anyway. Seemed a bit frivolous when there's lots to be buying soon.

What are everyone's plans for the weekend?

lilyb84 · 17/07/2015 07:52

Happy anniversary loveyoulots! Hope you have a fun shopping trip.

brickie thinking of you today, good luck with the scan.

I've got a stinking cold after several days of a nearly-sore throat so feeling mildly sorry for myself on the bus to work. We've got a family wedding tomorrow and I'll be doing my first ever 120 mile round-trip by car after passing my test in April. Nervous, especially if I still feel crappy! At least driving gives me a not-drinking excuse though as I'm not ready for extended family attention Smile

lutrinae · 17/07/2015 07:59

I feel like I feel flutters sometimes at 12 +5 but it must be too early, I know you feel them earlier the second time around but I was still getting phantom kicks from my DS who's 2.3 before I was pregnant again!

On the subject on buggies, we have a bugaboo bee and it's fab. A good lightweight city pram. I can still carry it up and down stairs with my DS in it. I got a good deal on eBay. Can't believe how much buggies cost new, it's insane!

lutrinae · 17/07/2015 08:01

lily sorry about the cold but driving wise I'm sure you'll be fine. DP drove 500 miles to get our car which was his first drive after passing!

lutrinae · 17/07/2015 08:19

Happy anniversary loveyoulots!
And best of luck with the scan brickie.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. One of my brothers is visiting with his 21 month old twins, so we've been having great fun, more at the weekend - hoping it doesn't rain too much Hmm

lilyb84 · 17/07/2015 08:20

Wow lutrinae, that sure beats my 79 mile first drive (when I partly cheated by following my dad 2/3 of the way...)!

lutrinae · 17/07/2015 08:22

I was really worried about him! But he said he just failed happily along the motorway (although in fairness the car is an automatic)

lutrinae · 17/07/2015 08:23

Sailed not failed!

tinyme135 · 17/07/2015 08:24

I know how you feel with your cold lily. I thought I got rid of mine but nope came back with a vengeance today plus to top it off with two days of bad stomach ache. It's like knotting feeling just above belly button :(

BeeMyBaby · 17/07/2015 08:27

Lut I used to get phantom flutters after I had dd2 as well so although I've felt a couple of flutters I'm not convinced they are actually baby. When I was having the scan and baby was moving about I couldn't feel anything so it's probably just in my head.

melonface · 17/07/2015 08:36

Midwife said 'not normally anything to worry about but if you're concerned see your GP' I don't know what do do now!

Lookingforadvice123 · 17/07/2015 08:45

Sending positive thoughts for your scan today brickie! Flowers

I'm desperate to find out the sex but not going to have a private gender scan (why are they called that? Should be private sex scan surely), going to wait patiently for my 20 week scan on 17th August! The only reason I'll have another scan before then is if I have any worrying symptoms, I had 3 scans before my 12 week (2 private and one at EPAU) so I think I've had enough scans to last me a lifetime!

I'm 16 weeks tomorrow, mad to think I could find out if I wanted to though. So excited to finally find out (although I'll be a nervous wreck for my 20 week scan), still convinced it's a boy though!

brickiemum2 · 17/07/2015 08:48

melon it's a strep bacteria the same as group b strep which I have. The danger is only if you have it during labour as you would need antibiotics so it doesn't colonize your newborn who has basically no immune system. Baby is perfectly safe inside you.
I've had a positive for gbs twice in this pregnancy so (assuming I get through my current troubles) I will have antibiotics in labour.

I'm really suffering with baby brain I try to catch up on this post and say to myself who and what I want to reply to and by the time I get here to comment I can't remember! Ahhh.
Anyway very jealous of those feeling flutters as I've got an anterior placenta and there is no chance I will feel it. I have been listening to hb since 10 weeks though.
Good luck brickie.
Xxx

melonface · 17/07/2015 08:54

Thanks brickie and best of luck for today

Lookingforadvice123 · 17/07/2015 08:57

Did I see someone mention prams btw?

Those who have kiddies, any thoughts on the silver cross pioneer? Was just having a look at it on morhercare, it looks as if it comes with the carry cot bit and the buggy bit but not the car seat? For £600 odd that seems a bit steep, especially as you won't need to use the buggy bit until baby's older, would rather have the car seat!

I've also looked at the Sola2 on Mamas and Papas: www.mamasandpapas.com/product-sola-mtx-duo-pushchair-package-denimblack/5773m6600/type-i/

This one looks a better deal than the Silvercross as its on sale and also includes the car seat! But definitely looks flimsier...

lutrinae · 17/07/2015 08:57

Yeah I think you might be right bee!
Good advice from brickie, melon - I can understand the worry though.

lutrinae · 17/07/2015 09:00

Looking am not familiar with that particular pram but I would say if you have a car a travel system with car seat compatibility would be invaluable with a baby.

mrsfazruns · 17/07/2015 09:09

looking IVE just bought the MTX version of the sola 2 ..... Obviously not used it yet but was my favourite out of them all and got a good deal in the sale

Lookingforadvice123 · 17/07/2015 09:22

Ooh interesting mrsfaz what colour did you get? I quite like the denim and the fluro yellow/green one.

Does it look sturdy? Fold easily and fit in the car?

EdgarAllenPoe · 17/07/2015 09:43

No flutters for me at 15+1 but it's my first so I guess I'll just have to be patient.

You organised people are making me paranoid. I'm really not planning on buying anything major until at least 25+ weeks, probably later. We'll be desperately doing DIY until at least November so won't really have anywhere to store anything, since one room is always being emptied and its contents filling up the rest of the house.

Went for a swim this morning which was nice. I just wish I looked properly pregnant rather than like I'd had a very big breakfast!

mrsfazruns · 17/07/2015 09:56

looking I liked it because it was nice and light for me but good and sturdy! Height fit both me and DH (im 5ft3 and he is 6ft2) and folding and changing car seat etc was nice and easy!

lilyb84 · 17/07/2015 10:00

Edgar don't worry, we're the same - not buying anything until much later, especially since we're getting quite a lot donated from family and friends so need to take stock before spending any money. We're also in a 1 bed flat with pretty much zero storage space so going to put off accumulating and stuff until we really need to.

TeenieDeenie · 17/07/2015 10:09

Morning all!

Brickie good luck today! Fingers and toes firmly crossed for you.

I've got a really annoying stitch-like feeling in my right side today meaning I can't get comfy in my chair at work. I have a meeting with HR next week, asking for a more comfortable chair wouldn't be unreasonable would it?

Last night I slept from 7.30pm to 7.30am this morning and I still could have slept on! This growing a human business sure takes it out of you... Smile

Sorry I know this has probably been covered but... This weekend I'm going to get some maternity bras as my normal ones are now struggling to contain my pregnancy boobs. I don't feel they've gotten too big, but my current bras are telling me otherwise. Is the best place to get measured Mothercare? The only other places here I can think of would be Debenhams or M&S but haven't heard good things about them?

Oysterbabe · 17/07/2015 10:13

I'm not buying anything until towards the end of the year.
