And actually it's more in my hip/very top of leg too. DH keeps trying to spray me with Deep Freeze spray but the shock is almost worse than the pain (and doesn't seem to help) Grin

Wynsey · 15/07/2015 22:48

No back pain but I've had shooting pains in my boob today!!! Confused
7 more sleeps until the scan!!! Cannot wait!!!!

So funny you two know each other!! My username is what I get called - didn't even think to change it just in case!!! Hahaha

Blackandwhitecat3 · 15/07/2015 23:21

Lily I have back pain in my middle/upper back, it's the strain of supporting my enormous boobage!

My bump is ginormous this evening, there must be a lot of wind in there tonight Shock

mrsfazruns · 15/07/2015 23:29

Evening all! Love catching up on the thread before bed!

On subject of finding out ... I don't want to but DH does! Then we went shopping at the weekend and I realised neutral clothes are so few in the shops! So I've decided at 20 week scan that I don't want go actually go looking but if we accidently see a flash of bits n bobs then that's ok!!

Advice needed for DH! I made him watch one born tonight and we had long chats about forceps and epidurals and what everything meant!! Realised I google loads and been through it before and don't think he knows what he's in for! Has anyone got recommendations for "daddy to be" books etc!?

coffeenut · 16/07/2015 02:19

DH came to my NCT antenatal classes with me (along with most of the partners) mrsfaz - that's my recommendation! They go through it all in the classes. They wont push breastfeeding, and yes we had a separate bf class that you could attend if you wanted. In my experience, no-one will care less what you decide/want to do. They are too busy trying to sort themselves out.

I think everyone has some degree of mood swings when pregnant tiny. It's easy to take it out on partner too! Not very nice for them though. Not sure who you'd go and see about it either in the UK. Perhaps take some time out and try to get enough sleep, to keep on top of them?

Tonicandgin · 16/07/2015 06:13

Shit. Woken up with a bit of a bleed.

What do I do?

brickiemum2 · 16/07/2015 06:46

Tonic....call maternity assessment, number in your notes. Mine said I had to be 16 weeks to be seen when I was bleeding but then did take me as it was heavy. It's probably just a hematoma behind your placenta which can be absolutely fine but I know your panic. I'm still passing blood now and I can't calm down.

OP posts:
Tonicandgin · 16/07/2015 06:57

Have called them and need to go to a&e. Had similar with dd but don't remember this dull ache and blood is red this time and not pink.

But had a horrible smear type examination, don't fancy that again.

What's a hematoma? Blood vessel?

tinyme135 · 16/07/2015 07:10

Oh no tonic I hope it's nothing serious, will be thinking of you today.

How's everything now brickie have they said anything else?

Romeolovesjuliet · 16/07/2015 07:11

Hope you get seen quickly tonic and hope you're ok brickie.

MissMartin10 · 16/07/2015 07:29

Hope everything's okay tonic Thanks x

lilyb84 · 16/07/2015 07:34

Thinking of you tonic, I hope it's nothing serious. And brickie, sorry to hear you still have bleeding. Are you going ahead with the holiday as suggested?

blackandwhite boobs definitely don't account for my back pain Grin

tiny agree about mood swings, I get them at the best of times! If you're struggling to control them or have any other signs that you might be depressed perhaps speak to your midwife or GP for advice? And in the short term, try to talk to your OH when you're feeling calm to explain it's the hormones talking and see if you can come up with some coping mechanisms together?

Juniper44 · 16/07/2015 07:39

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Tonic Hope everything is ok FlowersFlowersFlowers

crumble74 · 16/07/2015 07:53

Sorry to hear about your worry this morning tonic, thinking of you. Hope you get seen quickly.

Welcome all newcomers, the more the merrier!

Had another scan on Tuesday, all looking normal although head plotting on the small side (of normal). Of course now I'm worried she's too small & not growing well which is unfounded but just typical of me worrying about everything. I personally think it's because they put me a whole week ahead at my 12 week scan.

fishermanswife1 · 16/07/2015 08:03

Hope everything is ok tonic. Have you had any more advice as to what it could be?

Re. Back ache, I had sciatica on and off before pg, so kind of inevitable I'm feeking it more now. From lower back right down my bum cheek. But it helps if I try to have good posture and don't stay seated in the same position too long before getting up and moving around.

tiny I agree with Lily you can certainly ask mw or gp for help and advice. My mw said to chat to gp if I start to struggle with all these pesky hormones ramping everything up. And def try to chat to OH about it all when calm.

mrschatty · 16/07/2015 08:04

Oh tonic hope your ok and keeping FX nothing serious!
brickie sorry to hear your still having bleeding!!

Welcome all newbies loads of room here :) I've been having pulling ligament pain in uterus area can be really sharp at times anyone else getting this? I feel like time is dragging now especially as I've been put back 5 days on my dates. When I reach 14 weeks (again) hopefully it'll be back to full speed ahead!

tinyme135 · 16/07/2015 08:08

It's trying to talk to the OH. He just blew up on the phone just because I couldn't remember who he went out with last night and he said I'm annoying cause I do know. He told me after the last argument to try and control my temper and I did today, not once did I shout or snap or say hurtful stuff and now I'm the bad guy cause apparently I did remember I was just being annoying. You can never win. So i decided to tell him over a long text that he was the one who decided to go out late and be tired today, he was the one being moody not me and now that he's making out to be the bad guy...ain't heard nothing back from him yet.

fishermanswife1 · 16/07/2015 08:09

Crumble a friend of mine had this worry, she worked herself up for days that her baby was going to have a really small head after a scan (she was further along than us in third trimester). Went back for another scan as she got herself in such a worry, turned out all fine as the baby was just in a funny position the first time so head had been measured at an angle. Our little one was measuring a week too small and then in a scan 6 days later appeared to have grown enough for two weeks and sonographer just said "must have been at an odd angle last time". I think its so trough when these measurements are in millimetres and less.

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/07/2015 08:25

Sorry for your worrying experience tonic, as others have said it could be so many things, knowing pregnant people has taught me that! Friend had a bleed recently at around 18/19 weeks, turned out to be a cervical polyp? Never heard of it, but it's harmless. Same with a hematoma, or a burst cyst...all harmless but can cause scary bleeding. best of luck and try to stay calm xx

lily I've got awful lower back pain! Thought it could be related to my cyst and told the consultant when she asked about pain, but she said it's probably just normal pregnancy pain, I'm almost 16 weeks so could well be the uterus stretching as I know baby has a growth spurt 16-18 weeks!

Can anyone recommend really comfy good quality leggings? I've got one pair which is on the loose side so can still wear it, so comfy!

ValancyJane · 16/07/2015 08:34

tonic Hope all's well, I am crossing my fingers for you.

I am off sick AGAIN today (feel like work will think I'm taking the piss, especially since I had an important meeting today) but have a splitting headache and been sick twice. Ugh. Keep looking at the picture of the baby from yesterday and telling myself this will all be worth it!!

Has anyone had any maternity clothes from New Look, and if so are they decent quality? I've just been browsing online as I do need to get some ordered, and I quite like their stuff. Might get a couple of nice bits from JoJo Maman Bebe too...

brickiemum2 · 16/07/2015 08:52

Tonic I was also taken to a &e but they took one look at me and sent me to maternity assessment anyway as they said the doctors there were more experienced in these matters.

At the moment the plan is that we are leaving on holiday tomorrow. The doctors said it wouldn't influence the outcome either way. I've just to be aware of where my nearest labour ward or a&e is at all times.

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/07/2015 08:57

valancy I absolutely love my new look skinny maternity jeans! They fit really well as you just buy your normal size and there's an elasticated waist band.

frozenfairy123 · 16/07/2015 09:00

Tonic hope your ok let us know?

For those with back pain it will be cos of your posture as your uterus gets bigger it pulls on your lower back more and as your abs relax u are getting less support there. Try if u can to still draw your abs in, check your posture and keep moving. ( sorry for advice but this is my job!!!)
Welcome newbies!!!
After weeks of feeling ok I vomited agsin last night. So depressing at 15 weeks xxx

crumble74 · 16/07/2015 09:10

Thanks fisher, that's reassuring to hear. I suppose it's down to a number of factors but it's silly how I booked a scan for reassurance and then get worked up about something which is probably nothing. This theme will probably continue for another 24+ weeks!

brickie I hope you enjoy your holidays and that there is no more bleeding.
