fourlegstwolegs · 15/07/2015 09:47

Brickie I'm so glad that its so far so good. Fingers crossed!

Sleepy what a fab pic!

I have had my Harmony blood test but as yet have had no scan date from the NHS for the 12 week scan....hmmm! I'm 11+3 now.....

I dry retched my way round Tesco yesterday. It was delightful.

mrschatty · 15/07/2015 09:56

sleepy so cute!!!
I have my pic on my desk at work so it's completely out there now!!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 15/07/2015 10:01

Good luck with scans today Valancy and Juniper!

Sleepy that is so cute about that little reminder. You OH is sweet. And your Bovril craving sounds like what I had last week - huge craving for meaty stock (which I satisfied in Wagamama's).

My boobs have been less sore for a day - I'm sure they'll be back with a vengeance soon, they usually do.

Tiny good on you for telling your mum, sounds like she will be fine once she's over the shock. Good luck with your Dad tonight.

EdgarAllenPoe · 15/07/2015 10:02

Hmmmm I already tried cashing my maiden name cheque at the bank, bringing my marriage certificate too, and they said it would probably get rejected later in the process because it's been too long since my name changed (6 years). I might try again and see if I get a different cashier. How can the bank not have a record of my maiden name - I was with them for years before I was married.

Feeling fat and wishing I could just tell work I'm pregnant already. DH seems to think we need to have everything planned and sorted before we tell them, down to how long I'll be on maternity and plans to return part-time. Despite the fact I don't even know if company would agree to that since there's no precedent. They surely don't expect you to have everything set in stone by 16 weeks! It's pissing me off now as I'm sick of holding my belly in and trying to hide it.

loveulotslikejellytots · 15/07/2015 10:20

I'd tell them Edgar. I told my boss after my scan at 12 weeks, met with her last week to do risk assessments etc. she said we'll leave sorting out maternity leave etc. until I get my MATB1 form from my midwife, you dont get that until your 20 ish week appointment. Nothing can be done formally until you have that from your midwife anyway, so what ever you say now wont make much difference I dont think.

Also, i didn't realise it was 6 years sorry. Maybe try again, like you said if you was with them anyway before you were married they must have some osrt of record of you.

loveulotslikejellytots · 15/07/2015 10:30

I cant remember if I asked this on the last thread we had, but DH really wants to find out the sex. If you found out with past pregnancies, at what stage (weeks) did you find out?

I'll be 16 weeks the week of DH's 30th Birthday. A place near us does a scan between 16 and 24 weeks to find out the sex. I'm tempted to book it as a Birthday present for DH, but then i'm worried it wont be reliable at 16 weeks, even though they say it can be done from 16 weeks. On the 2 dates they have available i'd either be 16+3 or 16+5.

MissMartin10 · 15/07/2015 10:36

Loveyoulots that works be an amazing present Grin. . my scan place do it between 16-22weeks but if they can't tell they arrange a new date to come back for free so i would probably try asking them if they do the similar thing?

kep1979 · 15/07/2015 11:13

loveulots I think it should be reasonably obvious at 16/17 weeks - they will caveat it anyway. The place I've been (privately) for some scans has a 100% success rate from 16 weeks. And they get you to come back if they can't tell first time around. I had the harmony test so know already, but still tempted to have a scan at around 16/17 weeks unless little lady starts kicking loads as I am still massively anxious. I have my "20 week" scan at 19 weeks, so not that much longer to wait really, but still stressing Lovely birthday present idea for you dh Smile

sleepy it's a bit blurry but looks quite boyish to me according to my limited google research I think it's rounded for a girl and for a boy a flat forehead, more or less square-ish lookin head. Think the science is a little lacking though - I need to dig out the scan pics from my boys to see - this little lady has a very rounded head!

edgar I'd tell them too. I think work are legally not supposed to ask how long you are having off anyway, they have to assume you will take the year off until you tell them otherwise - and then even then you can change your mind (you have to give them notice I think). You have done amazingly well hiding it from them, I am so glad I told them at 12+4 so I could move into maternity trousers, breathe out and stop hiding my pooch!

Readyforthefuture · 15/07/2015 11:14

Edgar, I really would think seriously about telling work soon. I felt the same as your DH with work, but it's actually provided more protection for me by informing them. I never would have guessed how things could turn (I was one of their rising stars) but as it turns out I'm now relying on all the legal rights and some common sympathy. You're not protected until you tell them. You don't have to have any plans in place yet, businesses tend to be a little sceptical of your intentions early on because so many people change their minds.

loveulots that sounds like an amazing idea, so thoughtful.

SleepyDragon · 15/07/2015 11:22

Ahhhh thanks ladies!

Thanks Kep i haven't a clue - i did a 'guess the girl or boy test on a skull theory page i found and only got 1 right LOL

One good thing about being consultant led i guess is that once i hit 20 weeks i will be having scnas every 4 weeks to check the growth so if we can't tell at 20 weeks we'll have a monthly go at finding out LOL

kep1979 · 15/07/2015 11:28

sleepy I was crap too lol. I am supposed to be consultant led (high risk, definite section required, both sons had fluid issues and were BIIIIG) but got an appointment letter through yesterday and my first appointment is on 15 December when I'll be 35+4! Going to ask my midwife when I meet her in two weeks - I am assuming that as soon as I start getting measured I will be flagged for growth scans/GTT anyway as I am sure this one won't be small. But still, thought I'd at least meet consultant at about 20 weeks to plan care?

MissMartin10 · 15/07/2015 11:54

Cute scan pic sleepyGrin x
I couldn't see it before cz i was on the app. . So annoying how you can't see pics on the app.. you would have thought they would have made it so you can see Hmm

Juniper44 · 15/07/2015 12:15

I'm meeting the consultant at 16 weeks, Kep. Yours does seem very late! But I suppose the issues you listed with your sons would occur towards the end of pregnancy?

Scan was fine Smile Nuchal measure was 1.8 and EDD now 24th Jan. bit surprised I was only put back 2 days- I was tracking ovulation and that'd give me an EDD of 30th!

MissMartin10 · 15/07/2015 12:31

oh juniper Snap! mee too! Smile

SleepyDragon · 15/07/2015 12:32

Least its not just me then Kep lol

i'm consultant becasue of high risk of Gestational Diabetes (runs in both families) and elevated BMI... think our first appointment is on 29 July, it just says to discuss ante natal care.....

My GTT test has already been booked for 28 Sept but thankfully its at 9.10am so not too long to wait (in theory!)

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/07/2015 12:47

I was consultant led too...for about five minutes! Had my first appt yesterday due to a cyst on my ovary, they took my BP, asked if I had any unusual pain (no), and said they were happy to sign me off and for me to be midwife led! Did get to listen to the baby's heartbeat though, bonus Smile

Romeolovesjuliet · 15/07/2015 13:02

Congrats Juniper Smile
Brickie glad to hear you're ok and that DH will be back to help you out later - can't be easy trying to look after your DCs too.
I also have to see a consultant at 16 wks due to large PPH and retained placenta in first birth. But annoying as second birth was completely normal but they were happy to leave me alone last time during labour and just put me on drip afterwards to avoid PPH in case it happened again so hopefully they will just say the same this time.
Impatient for scan on Friday - hope Al is still ok in there.

MissMartin10 · 15/07/2015 13:06

does anyone have any preference to what gender they are hoping for?

-im going to the usual line im not fussed aslong as its healthy Smile

(But at first i really wanted a boy)

Boosiehs · 15/07/2015 13:14

I'm seeing the consultant on Thursday immediately after the scan. DH has cancer and has been on treatment, its not clear whether it will have caused any problems. Also seeing the genetic counsellor as a precaution.... Sounds fun.

Definite section here (fingers crossed we get that far) - major probs with DS birth, PPH/big baby/shoulder dystocia. But given DH treatment we have to fit the birth in with that too!

SleepyDragon · 15/07/2015 13:20

MissM i always said i wante a girl (no idea why) but then our nephew came along 18 month ago and since then i've wanted a boy.

To be honest i really don't mind if it is a boy or a girl (cliche!) but secretly i am hoping for Team Blue!!

Romeolovesjuliet · 15/07/2015 13:32

Wow boosie, you have a lot in your plate. I hope the prognosis for your DH is ok.
We won't find out the sex but I already have one of each so no, I don't mind what we have Grin. I will have 3 under 4 for a short while if all goes well though so going on how manic my DS is and how calm my DD is, maybe I should be hoping for another girl...

Oysterbabe · 15/07/2015 13:35

I also don't mind but secretly want a boy Smile

melonface · 15/07/2015 13:39

I've booked a private scan for 3 weeks time. So excited to see baby again and hopefully find out the gender!

BeeMyBaby · 15/07/2015 13:43

Had my scan and EDD came forward 4 days to 18 Jan and I'm officially 13+2 now. I checked out the nub theory and according to that I'm having a boy, but I still don't want to find out at the 20 week scan as I prefer the game of it much more. The DDs found out during the scan and DD1 was very pleased and DD2 (3 yo) was very confused at what on earth she was looking at. After we were back in the car, DD1 said 'when you have the baby it will be a little bit painful' and DD2 said 'no - not a little bit, alot painful!' ...
