Luckystar many congratulations! What a lovely name. Did you know it was Emmeline Pankhurst's birthday today? Sounds like you have had quite a week! So glad things are settling down and thanks for sharing. Smile

smallgreenbanana · 15/07/2015 23:58

I mean she was born on this day in 1858 not actually today!

Raines100 · 16/07/2015 06:01

Congrats Lucky! Breastfeeding can be beautiful or hellish; I have experienced both. Getting the right help and advice is the key thing, and it's the luck of the draw whether this is readily available. Bottle feeding is a worthy often necessary alternative, and there should be no guilt attached to making the switch Wink

Absolutely love the name Emmeline btw. Tried to convince DH but we've had our girls name for years, and he didn't want to deviate.

Good luck MrsF. Sounds promising!
Welcome back beaker and good luck for Friday.
Sorry for crappy migraines broody. Hang in there.

LaLaLaaaa · 16/07/2015 08:27

Lucky congratulations! I think we need to hear of difficulties as well as successes so that we know struggling can be perfectly normal and that he'll is available, so don't think you were insensitive.

Hope you're having a better time now!

Ok I had sweep yesterday - for anyone worried about having one it didn't hurt, it was just big stretchy and uncomfortable. My period pains have ramped up since and I'm tired because I was awake most of the night with them.

Was sent for monitoring yesterday because baby's movements were quiet. All fine but going back for scan and doctor chat today. According to minors I am contracting but just not very strongly which is why I've been crampy for a week. I'm finding it extremely frustrating that things don't seem to be progressing but I'm still only 40+2 so I guess baby just isn't ready. Another sweep tomorrow if nothing happens

LaLaLaaaa · 16/07/2015 08:27

*help not he'll

LaLaLaaaa · 16/07/2015 08:28

Bit stretchy not big - bloody autocorrect! Made it sound like my bits were massive!

Clstow · 16/07/2015 10:19

Congratulations Lucky, Emmeline is a beautiful name and thanks for the birth story and breastfeeding honesty... As a FTM I agree it's good to hear about the rough and the smooth - and its great to hear that despite tough times you're loving being a mum.

Lala - Grin to big stretchy! And fx for more progress for you soon.

I'm 38+5 and feel like crap - have had a headache for 2 days and feel sick. Basically feel hungover but obvs haven't been drinking... Is this normal for the end of pregnancy?

Charliej86 · 16/07/2015 10:59

Feeling very 'meh' today. Dd is tomorrow but feel like it's not going to happen anytime soon. Pretty convinced Well be waiting until next Friday's appointment. Enquired at mw appointment on Tuesday about a sweep next Tuesday when I'll be 40+4 but she didn't sound very hopeful, not usual mw. She wasn't even sure she should book me an appointment for next week.

Feel very like I want to go home. Don't know if anyone understands that.(I am at home)

LostSoulsForever · 16/07/2015 11:38

Well, due date today & no sign of anything happening :(
Come on baby LSF, we want to meet you!!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 16/07/2015 12:13

Congratulations Lucky! I have been having massive breastfeeding problems too, despite it being my second time and feeding not DD til a year old. We're on day 7 now and it's getting easier, but have had several tearful phone calls with La Leche League and local breastfeeding counsellors. Anyone having BF issues definitely try and utilise the free support available, it really is fantastic.

smallgreenbanana · 16/07/2015 16:16

Some good news! Just had my first sweep at 41+1 and things looking "very favourable". Baby has hair. Grin Big lump of show when I got home. Fx might be a mummy by the weekend!!

broodylicious · 16/07/2015 16:28

Hoorah small! Keeping all crossed for you.

Just starting to get a pain right on my pelvis, the boney bit behind my right vaginal lip, v ouchy. Slept a fair bit today as dh has taken dd out but don't feel too refreshed as a result. I'm just so ready for the baby to come now!!

Just had 38 week appt at 38+2. Have been referred to consultant as measuring 3cms behind dates, but this has been the case throughout, and have still been growing consistently. Not too worried as had this with DS1 and he was over 7lb at birth. Her head is apparently 2/5 palpable so hopefully I'll be holding her soon enough anyway.

In other news, I have conjunctivitis. Anyone know if I can take eye drops without bothering the doc? DM is having my DCs this weekend and DH and I are heading out for last swanky meal before the chaos begins. Am already fat and gassy. Was hoping to wear make up at least! Smile

Sherbet38 · 16/07/2015 17:46

Congratulations lucky

That sounds good small, hope things progress.

I'm now 40+5, sweep booked for tomorrow. I've eaten curry, lots of pineapple, been drinking raspberry leaf tea and spent the last couple of days bouncing/rotating on a gym ball! Feel a bit achey and the occasional sharp pain but nothing significant. Would really like things to progress now!

broodylicious · 16/07/2015 18:02

raines, I had conjunctivitis when I was breastfeeding dd and the pharmacist said I couldn't take the drops because they weren't recommended for preggos or bfing mamas. Took a few days longer to clear but it did go eventually. Might be worth checking though as that was three years ago and there might've been something new that's suitable for us now. Hope it clears soon xx

Thanks for the info broody. No make up for me then. Fat, gassy and one half closed, weeping, gooey, pink eye. God, I'm gonna look gorgeous Grin

JoY007 · 16/07/2015 19:24

Hello Ladies,

I have been mia Smile, adjusting to mummy good Grin.

Finally got discharged on Monday with a catheter, and advised to have it in for 7 days to give bladder sometime to recover from all the anaesthesia. Hospital appointment tomorrow hope to have it taken out tomorrow. Can't wait to go out with my baby.

Baby Dara on the other hand is doing great, feeding well but latching is a nightmare he is on my nipple which hurtsSad.

Got a breastfeeding consultant to help me out as I want to do this for at least 6 months.

He gets EBM for night feed so I can get some rest, my mum or OH does the feed.

Good luck mrsF' I hope this it for you. Not long to go whoop whoop!!

Not read back the messages but congratulations to all the new arrivals since I last posted xxx

broodylicious · 16/07/2015 20:06

raines, my chemist told me to do warm water from the shower and then warm flannel over the eyes to take the redness away. I was very skeptical but it did ease it. I don't know if you're a skincare/product fan but Liz Earle Eyebright is nothing short of wonderful for all kinds of eye issues - I've used it for hayfever, tiredness and infections. I keep my bottle in the fridge so it's uber cold then dab some on a cotton wool pad and pop it over my sore and/or tired eyes. Worth a try anyway.

joy, good for you hanging in there with the bfing. It's such hard work - as everyone who has done it will tell you! - but yep, defo worth persevering if you can. I found the NCT bumps and babies or Sure Start groups to be fab if you've one near you, as they really are very supportive. And free! It'll take time but I think we all know you enough from your antenatal posts to know you're a tough cookie and will grit your teeth to get through this initial ouchy bitSmile

Cool, thanks for the tip x

Baby's been head butting my nether regions quite viciously this eve. Pretty darn painful! Remember DS2 doing this and wondering if he was going to skip the labour part and just burst out. Also need to pee every give seconds and got that tingly, restless feeling everywhere... oh! And a thunderstorm's just started. Not sure how I'm going to sleep through all this!

fattymcfatfat · 16/07/2015 23:34

raines I've got everything bar the thunderstorm and conjunctivitis. Been uncomfortable all day, just really restless and feel like this little bugger is going to burst his waters if he doesn't stop bouncing.

slightlyconfused85 · 17/07/2015 00:52

I'm sure everyone's asleep but awake as I think my labour is getting started...had regular lower back pain keeping me awake since 9.30ish coming in waves. Keep thinking I just need a poo (tmi sorry) but never been kept awake by that before and went twice already this eve. Am knackered and desperately trying to sleep eek!

fattymcfatfat · 17/07/2015 02:32

slightly sounds like things could be starting. Fx for you

slightlyconfused85 · 17/07/2015 03:57

Contractions have got to 5 mins apart and getting pretty painful as well as a bit of show. Dhs parents are en route to look after dd - hope my next post shall be to tell you baby news fx

Raines100 · 17/07/2015 06:20

Ooo hope everything went/is going well slightly. Looking forward to hearing good news soon.

Any more happening for you yet small?

Well done for seeking out support with the BF Joy. Hope it goes to plan from now on for you.

smallgreenbanana · 17/07/2015 06:58

Raines yes! Woke up at 4.20am with a strong tightening. Timed them for a bit, about 1 minute every 10 minutes, and small bloody show. Tried to get back to sleep, but no luck, so made a cup of tea and now rotating on my ball. Now about 30 seconds long and quite variable interval - 2-6 minutes apart - and not as strong as before, fading. They are only in lower bump and back.

Don't know if to bother calling the labour line yet just so they are aware (planning a home birth and there are only 2 community midwives on call for home births for the whole county!). Might just wait for DH to wake up and then go for a walk with him to see if they get stronger or go away. I'm aware it could be like this for a while! I guess I should tell DH not to go into work? As a FTM I'm a bit clueless! I don't like to make a fuss!
