Glad you are home MrsF. I'm in a similar boat, sort of, with a planned induction at 40 weeks. I've actually got a thread in childbirth about it just now as I'm quite emotionally upset about it all. They talk as if induction is risk free and I sort of feel that I'm considered selfish for having any doubts at all. I try to remember it's just doctors doing what they are trained to do, and it's not personal. But the intense approach can be so overwhelming. The daily monitoring is not that invasive once you get into the swing of things though (I'm still only on twice weekly, but still working too!). It is also a separate thing entirely from an actual induction, so try not to jump too far ahead. These are just extra checks to make sure baby is doing ok. Take it one step at a time. I'm trying to take my own advice. A few weeks ago I was panicking about a breech baby and ELCS, but that worry has gone. This one might never be an issue for you if baby decides now (or soon!) is time.

Best of luck. :)

MrsFbabyNo1 · 13/07/2015 08:15

I slept well and nothing is happening (yippee). Hope get call RE scan apt for later today, they check it and let me go about as before. Going with my mum as MrF is handing stuff over at work thus week for impending d day and having month off.

Thanks Muddy, read your induction post. V similar to how I felt yest going from 0 risk to all of a sudden this that or other intervention wise. Though I do understand they were thinking it be best if baby was reduced movements / distressed. But they more I think about it I just got over anxiously yest am and he ended up jiggly all day. Woke me up at 5:30am todaymoving about, typical!

Hi FattyMc, ooh sounds like engaging more then so hope not too much longer for you. How are you coping with the pain? Dr given you meds (if I remember)?

Still waiting here.

Was my birthday yesterday, had a lovely family day, meal then trip to rides at seaside. Not that I could go on any but loved seeing my kids (and OH) having fun. Was abit much for me by end of the day for me lots of the wring pain.

I feel for you ladies that have suffered spd right through, I seem to have developed it in last few weeks (only self diagnosed but fits online symptoms) I'm struggling balancing getting comfortable with that and reducing swollen feet at same time.

39+3 today hoping midwife mite give me a sweep tomorrow, it's not my usual mw tho she's on holiday.
Ohh the dog is lay with me instead of in bed maybe he knows something.

fattymcfatfat · 13/07/2015 08:39

I was put on cocodamol, but I cant get any more as he is off ill and they want me to go to an entirely different surgery and I don't drive, so I would have to walk, which I cant do and they cant get anyone to do me a script.

Glad things have settled for you mrsf when I was having DD I ended up being monitored as she wasn't moving and I bled a bit. She was fine, but the worry is awful Flowers

dancinglorna1984 · 13/07/2015 09:09

Still waiting here too, 37+4 today and it feels like forever... So uncomfortable now and just wishing DD Would appear a bit earlier.

LaLaLaaaa · 13/07/2015 09:11

So sorry to hear some of you are overdue and waiting, must be quite frustrating but I do totally agree that you should be in control of your own experience so refusing induction is your choice. Someone I know just had baby at 42+2 and had positive birth

Nothing happening here. Got excited as there were contractions but they've gone. Baby is very active though and quite obviously wants out!

I'm due tomorrow

LaLaLaaaa · 13/07/2015 09:11

Oh and yes spd is evil, my hips are on fire :(

LaLaLaaaa · 13/07/2015 09:24

Is anyone else's babies at 40 weeks extremely active? Mine is jumping around all over the place

Fleurchamp · 13/07/2015 09:29

That's really rubbish about your drugs fatty could someone drive out or could you splash out on a taxi? You shouldn't have to suffer Flowers

I am not even overdue yet but very impatient!!!

Baby has quiet and active days, today is an active one - more wiggling about than limbs jutting out though.

Naturegirl82 · 13/07/2015 10:03

Just thought I'd add to the induction chat. It is concerning when things seem to go from 0 to full on intervention but if they are recommending induction ask them to fully explain their reasons. There will always be time for you to ask questions and have a think. If there isn't then it should be an emcs not an induction.

I obviously went from being absolutely fine on Wednesday evening to being induced Friday evening (with an awful time inbetween!) when I would usually not have even wanted a sweep! But it was the right thing as otherwise there was a risk of causing permanent damage to me. But even then there was time for me to ask questions both about why and how the process works. And even during I was kept fully informed. I think alot of the time we read about induction we are told the horror stories and people don't recount the positives. For me, other than it not starting naturally and being continuously monitored I was still able to have the birth I wanted e, g active (on birthing ball), low lighting, hypnobirthing etc. I can't believe that I am the only person that hasn't had a bad experience so just wanted to share.

BadIdeaBear · 13/07/2015 10:07

Yeah LaLa I'm 40+1 now and my bubba is very active in bursts. It feels like engagement and repositioning. I got anxious about it v early Sat morning and so ended up going to labour ward and getting a CTG done. Baby was absolutely fine, so it calmed me. Think bubba is just trying to do the right thing and get in the best place possible. Then again, some of the rib kicks might just be for fun...

smallgreenbanana · 13/07/2015 10:25

Yup lala I'm 40+5 and a couple of days ago LO went crazy, like she was trying to get out all by herself... Wink This was accompanied by some sharp pains in my cervix area and some quite strong and regular BH... but then nothing! I've given up wondering if every BH or period painy type feeling might be the start of labour. Hmm

All this talk of induction is making me feel nervous. There's no way I'll be having a sweep at my 41 week appointment on Thursday, though, if LO is still not engaged. The MW said that could lead to cord prolapse!! Back to thinking fluffy oxytocin thoughts. Confused

LaLaLaaaa · 13/07/2015 10:27

Thank u! Mine has been engaged for weeks. Just shows you really can't predict when these babies are going to decide to show up!

Sherbet38 · 13/07/2015 10:30

Just checking in. I'm 40+2 now, baby is active in fits and starts. Had a quiet period yesterday, but iced water (and prodding Wink) seemed to wake baby up!

I was hopeful something was starting last night, had lots of period type pains and felt crampy. But no, woke up this morning and nothing happening.

I have my 40 week midwife apt tomorrow, I'm assuming this is when they'll start talking about sweeps etc? Given the discussion earlier in the thread about there being no evidence of these working I'm not sure that's what I want.

Good luck to everyone still waiting. I don't know... we count down to 40 weeks and then these babies keep us waiting Wink

smallgreenbanana · 13/07/2015 10:30

Sorry about your SPD fattymc If I were you I would tempted to demand a home visit and get the darn doctor out to you - seriously! You deserve proper pain relief.

My low back (L5) now clicks every time I turn over in bed or get up in the middle of the night. It's so unstable. My poor bum muscles and legs are in so much pain trying to stabilise everything, and I think I might be getting carpal tunnel in my left wrist. Clearly it's the end times. Hurry up baby!!

NotPennysBoat · 13/07/2015 11:56

I'm still here! 39+3 today.

I seemed to hit the 37wk mark and felt totally fed up every day when nothing happened. I spent my days bouncing on the ball and trying long walks, and my evenings eating curries and doing more bouncing! I was super-emotional and grumpy and pretty hard to live with I imagine (not that DH would DARE to say so!).

However in the last few days I've totally changed my mindset. I've just resigned myself to the fact that this baby will come when it's ready and no amount of walking or bouncing is going to change that. I've stopped over-analysing every twinge/BH and I feel in such a better mood! I will have my baby at some point in the next fortnight and until then - que sera, sera!

charlieis30 · 13/07/2015 16:08

I'm here, 38+4. Getting utterly sick of the discomfort, baby seems to find kicking me in the liver simply hilarious. She's clearly got no space in there any more. Have booked in for acupuncture later this week. Maybe it will get things going!

Very weird, when asked in shops etc when I'm due, to say "next week"! Have kept real due date from friends and family, in the hopes of avoiding the "any news?" thing... have told everyone end of the month!

Aretepetite · 13/07/2015 18:57
