My scan is tomorrow afternoon too. I won't bother with a full bladder as my prior scans (at 7+2, 8+6 & 10+2) it wasn't really full but scans were all fine.

We're nervous even though we only saw Bean two weeks ago - fingers crossed all is well and we get to see her wiggling around Smile

Spent a lovely weekend at dh's grandparents' place in Wales - heading back there next weekend for some more r&r.

Good luck for everyone else with scans tomorrow.

Juniper44 · 05/07/2015 21:18

Teenie codeine is ok in second trimester, and sometimes given to women in labour (my sister included). I don't know about first trimester, but you're near the end of it now anyway.

I took codeine last time as I suffer from chronic sinusitis and could not function without it. As a one off, I'd be surprised if it did any harm.

Good luck for those with scans tomorrow. Mine still feels miles away- 15th July. No mention of bladders or money on my letter, but when I had DD (antenatal in a different hospital), I had to have a full bladder and paid about £5 a photo!

Yokyil · 05/07/2015 21:35

Hi all - sorry to those who've had rubbish news these past few days Flowers we're thinking of you. And all those who've found out sex - congrats!
Am 14+2 now and still feel rubbish - just feel like I could just lie down all day! Headachy and moany and uncomfortable. Hospital in the morning to the neurology clinic to keep an eye on my epilepsy - no idea what they'll be doing, but we'll see how that goes!
Anyone else started looking out for any supplies yet? Prams etc?

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/07/2015 22:12

Yokyil - I've had an email from mothercare about a sale starting tomorrow. I might have a look but not buying anything unless it's a real bargain! I'm 14 weeks but would prefer to wait a bit. I haven't even told my work colleagues yet, I'm not one for big announcements and I work in an open plan office of 60. I'm quite liking it still being semi private! Not sure I'll hold out until the 20 week scan for shopping!

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/07/2015 22:13

I think we've decided on the uppababy vista though. Going to a shopping centre near us in a couple of weeks to see it in the flesh, so far that's about all. I've been looking at co-sleeper cots tonight, trying to work out what's best.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 05/07/2015 22:21

I broke my vow and bought some baby clothes today. Sales everywhere!

Good luck everyone with scans tomorrow. Tonic count yourself lucky it's only £6, ours was £10. Sonographer did give us about 9 photos though!

Yokyil sorry to hear you're still feeling rough.

I can feel a really big sleep coming on, night all...

TeenieDeenie · 05/07/2015 22:24

Thanks Juniper! That's what I'm hoping and it was definitely a one-off!!! It was the low dose tablets 8/500mg you can buy over the counter, not the higher 30/500mg you need a prescription for. They are the same shape and size as the paracetamol and I just popped them out and took them without thinking. Feel so angry with myself but as I've said that won't happen again!

b&w - me too bought a little outfit set as its the most perfect unisex outfit I've seen Smile
Loveyoulots - im getting the chicco co-sleeper cot or the snuzpod I really wanna be close to baby.. they are bigger so last for about 6 months Grin and I'll be breastfeeding hopefully and apparently it makes it easier?

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/07/2015 23:29

Yeah, I'm hoping to do the same. I've been looking at the Chicco one as well, it's just the price that puts me off. Especially as we'll need a cot for them to move into as well. I've also seen the sleepyhead pillow thing. So I was thinking of having the larger cot in our room next to me with the sleepyhead pillow in it. I wouldn't have the side down, that doesn't seem very safe, but I'm quite lucky that my side of the room is quite large. The only problem with that is that it's not as close and not as easy for feeding. Still, I've got a long time to think about it!

coffeenut · 06/07/2015 00:47

yokyil I'm same as you. About 14+1 going on adjusted dates and feel shit. Exhausted (luckily it's term break here and DDs let me sleep in). And suddenly nauseous and generally unwell.

I think I overdid it with the cleaning yesterday too, scrubbing bathrooms. Now lower back aches and I have cramps. Moaned so much to DH last night that he has promised he will do at least the bathrooms and toilets from now on Hmm

I bought some clothes in the sales too. Oops. Bought a range of newborn to 6 months so at least we have a start. I really want to go through our girl stuff to work out what I can keep for our little boy (and chuck or give away the rest!) but it's too early.

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 06/07/2015 06:07

Morning all!

If anyone's interested, Boots (at least a large store near me) have a baby clothes sale on selected things. I got a half price neutral set for £5!

Got my 1st ever scan on wednesday. The letter says I need a full bladder but no mention of money for photo (think it's about £4-£5) or Down's screening. Luckily I work in the same hospital where it'll be so I think I'll go to them directly and say I want the screening. Hopefully they'll have time for that!

BeeMyBaby · 06/07/2015 06:10

Missmartin we got a co sleeper cot for dd2 and it was definitely much easier than our previous Moses basket we had for dd1 as it has the added bonus of allowing you to be so close that they can get some heat off you during early days in winter. We actually managed to get ours off gumtree for about £30 so you could try looking on there over the next few months incase anyone lists one.

Tonicandgin · 06/07/2015 06:42

I'm wary of co-sleepers since NCT removed their bed nest from sale. Any one got any more info on them?

brickiemum2 · 06/07/2015 06:50

tonic as traffic as that incident was it wasn't the products fault. It wasn't being used correctly and had been bought seeing hand with no instructions. It's supposed to be used as a co sleeper with one side fully down so it's basically an extension of your bed when you are also there. The instructions point out that if used for day time naps when you are not there both sides should be raised for safety. The poor parents didn't know this and left one side partially down but with a lip sticking up. It was this that the wee one got their head over causing the tragedy. Used correctly it's an excellent product but if buying second hand (as with all baby equipment) make sure you have the instructions or can access them online to make sure you don't inadvertently do something risky.

brickiemum2 · 06/07/2015 06:51

So many typos...tragic not traffic. Second hand not seeing.

brickiemum2 · 06/07/2015 06:54

Ps...the nct only temporarily removed them from sale during the investigation. Once the product itself was cleared of fault it returned as available for sale.

Tonicandgin · 06/07/2015 07:24

Thanks Brickie! I was hoping this was the case!

I wished I'd had one with dd, and read that awful tragic story and how it was thought to be caused by the way it was used, but couldn't find anything on NCT about it, so thought it was still removed. Glad to hear it's not.

BeeMyBaby · 06/07/2015 07:37

I just read the story, it was reported that the parents also left their baby sleeping face down which is clearly no longer the guidelines. I really don't see this story having any relevance to a standard co sleeper...

Brooke113 · 06/07/2015 08:07

Good luck to everyone having scans today :)

Busy weekend here, feeling yucky, and sort of freaked myself out this morning, as I was retching and not bringing up anything but felt like I was going to be sick, and I've brought up stomach bile I think it's called? Hope everything is OK inside :( worried myself now.

FizzyPinkWine · 06/07/2015 08:21

Good luck to all having scans today.

Brooke, I'm sure you'll be ok. Sometimes it's better to bring something up than just endless retching.
For the first time since I got pregnant I've taken today off work. I have spent the whole weekend feeling pretty awful and just couldn't face work today, with the retching and puking. Feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 06/07/2015 08:37

Brooke all I ever bring up is bile. It's normal.

Fizzy have restful day and hope it helps you feel a bit better.

SleepyDragon · 06/07/2015 09:03

Brooke unless you've had something to eat, all that will be in your stomach is bile so it's perfectly normal don't worry.

I took the plunge and decided to phone in sick today, I feel increasingly nauseous, headachy and stressy and just need time off to calm myself down before our scan on Friday. Unfortunately my boss's phone diverts to me (work mobile) and I ended up ringing myself 4 times lol!

I text her in the end asking her to ring me back and also phoned one of the other managers for good measure.

brickiemum2 · 06/07/2015 09:05

sleepy you should've just left a message for yourself and considered the job done Grin

TeenieDeenie · 06/07/2015 09:18

Morning ladies, good luck to all having scans today! One week today until mine... of course this is bound to be the slowest 7 days in history right?!

Thanks again to everyone that reassured me yesterday re the co-codamol tablets, I completely panicked. I feel calmer today and have got my head around the 'as a one-off' two lose dose tablets are unlikely to have affected baby much, if at all... Will no doubt have tablet paranoia for the rest of my days tho!

Wow, everyone is so organised buying up bits and pieces and picking out cots and prams... It's great I can get some ideas and tips as I have literally no clue about anything... This is our first DC and not many of my friends have children so the extra info is invaluable! Smile

Morning ladies! Sorry I haven't checked in for a while, been crazy busy - going on holiday today so can't wait for some sun.

Teenie - I have a bad back so went to the GP a couple of weeks ago to check what I can take and she said codeine was ok. Ibuprofen and other NSAIDs are a definite no no but she said I could take my cocadomol if needed. Hope that makes you feel better?

I had my scan on Friday and all was ok - had a little tear in my eye! Was also right time to do Down syndrome test and the measurement was 1.2 so hopefully with bloods all will be ok there too. Haven't had chance to catch up properly with this thread but hope everyone is ok and morning sickness is easing!!
