hi pixie Grin

lots of people have already got children and have said they had almost no symptoms at all with those pregnancies so try not to worry!

haquoi123 · 05/07/2015 11:10

Welcome pixie! There seems to be loads of discrepancies between midwife apps around the country, but I'd definitely chase it up with your GP.

primary I think I need to get advice off you about maternity allowance! I'm self employed and have just been panicking about it. I didn't find the info very clear last time and never got the chance to properly look it up but I remember being shocked and angered by it - it's so different from smp!

haquoi123 · 05/07/2015 11:13

Also kudos for thinking about housework. I'm not feeling too terrible atm, but I can't bring myself to get out of bed. DH has been a star in keeping the house going, but has taken to putting on a slave's/Egor voice every time he talks to me... :s

elephantfeet · 05/07/2015 11:26

Pixie I have had no symptoms either, it's a bit unnerving but I'm just trying to count myself lucky!!

Pagerty · 05/07/2015 12:24

Hi Pixie. I am 9+4 and have zero symptoms what so ever apart from bloating, but that could be for my newly discovered sweet tooth Wink in fact, if it were not for my awol period and 2 positive pregnancy tests I would think I was imagining it. Maybe I should have booked an early scan after all.

I had hardly any symptoms last pregnancy, bar a little late afternoon mild queasiness so trying to feel blessed rather than anxious. Easier said than done lol.

Spanoo · 05/07/2015 12:26

primary I'm in a similar position to you with jobs. I have a job lined up to start in November as I qualify as a psychologist this October. Since I found out I'm pregnant I'm having second thoughts about the job as it means my partner and I relocating about 30 miles north. Not too far but ideally I'd like to be nearer to my home town and our parents as they are all retiring this year, which is about 60 miles south. Also the new job is with a private company and I have worked for the NHS for 6 years so I would lose my maternity benefits and will get maternity allowance instead. I have an interview for a local NHS job this Thursday so going to see how that goes. But I feel so awkward about potentially turning down the job I have lined up as they have already kept the position for me since March! either way we have to move out of current tiny flat anyway so will also be going through moving stress! Clearly this was not the way I planned, but now it's happened I really want to put baby first.

primarynoodle · 05/07/2015 12:38

spanoo i got my job offered in april for a september start at told the ht that id be rejecting the job at the end of june with only 5 weeks for him to find a replacement... if i had waited for 12w scan he would have had no time to find a replacement as it would have been summer holidays!

their mothers may have made similarly tricky decisions so they could exist i suppose!

Spanoo · 05/07/2015 12:44

Hi pixie it's my first too, I'm a little behind u at 7+6. My symptoms aren't too bad tbh, mainly just tired and sore boobies!

charlotte I find coming on here makes me more anxious sometimes too! Have you told anyone in real life how you're feeling? It might help to talk to a positive friend who can be excited for you? Do u think an early scan will help you worry less?

Spanoo · 05/07/2015 12:50

primary ha! That's true! Who's "ht" that u told and how did u tell them? My situ is mega awkward as I went on placement with the team so I know them, but having a phone conversation with the manager about it fills me with dread! I want to wait until my 12 weeks to tell them and that will leave them nearly 3 months to find someone (about as long as recruitment takes anyway). But they have a locum in post atm so they could potentially keep them!

primarynoodle · 05/07/2015 13:23

sorry the headteacher! i rang him and just explained that i was pregnant and thought that the best thing for everyone would be to reject the offer because it would be more disruptive on both parties (for the children and for me) for me to take the job than his short re-recruitment time...

it was akward but he was really nice, theres nothing they can say other than good luck and thanks for telling us tbh!

primarynoodle · 05/07/2015 13:24

but in your case spanoo i think you would be mad to leave and not get your smp and extended maternity leave! especially if it meant a massive relocation and having to navigate the fun world of maternity allowance!

Spanoo · 05/07/2015 13:31

Yeah that's true, if I carry on with this planned job, I will work about 10 weeks then go on leave anyway, which will cause them a lot of disruption especially if they let the current locum go then need another one. But, it is tricky because I qualify in Oct after training with the NHS, so will be unemployed if I don't find something else. Better get searching over the next few weeks!

primarynoodle · 05/07/2015 13:53

have pmd you spanoo!

Pixie1985 · 05/07/2015 15:14

Thanks guys I feel a lot better hearing all your stories too, have learnt loads from this thread already ???? I sympathise with the job situation Spanoo my dream job came up and I applied the day before I got my bfp, the plan was to go for interview then discuss when they made me an offer but they're taking their time with interviews so not sure I'll be able to conceal it that long Confused fingers crossed things work out for you xx

Ba8y1 · 05/07/2015 19:39

Hi, thanks for the welcome, hope everyone's had a good weekend?!
Empathise with the bloat, already feel as big as I did halfway through the second trimester and feel unbelievably tired this time - no idea how I'm going to go back to work next week without my 2 hr nap at lunchtime! Wonder if I can take a pillow and crawl under my desk!!

haquoi my DH is also doing pretty much everything and grumbling about me pulling the 'p' card, albeit goodnaturedly at the moment

Good luck with the job hunting to those who are looking and for those moving house - did that while preggars last time and it wasn't much fun.

Welcome pixie and here's to lots of sticky beans!

My rpt scan is nxt wed, will let you know, not sure if I'll get a chance to check in much before then! Have a gd week everyone Smile

bopoityboo3 · 05/07/2015 21:05

wow lots happening since i managed to check in last. Welcoming to the new people.

I've had to give in an order some mat clothes today, all the stuff I currently have is not going to cut it in this hot hot weather. Nothing feels comfy round my waist/stomach any more and I know it's just bloating but oh I'm worrying work is going to guess before the long summer holiday starts in two weeks time. Don't want to have to tell them until the new term starts in September when I'll be 18 weeks rather than telling them now before I'm even 12.

Raaaaaah · 05/07/2015 21:51

Hi all. We've been away for the weekend at my parents beside the seaside. So lovely.

Spanoo and Primary, I interviewed for a job at 18 weeks pregnant with DD (our second child). I told them at interview that I was pregnant. They were a bit flabergasted and said that they would have to have a good think. I got the job (nhs and quite probably desperate Wink). I ended up leaving after I had DD. I had been desperate to work after having DS but once DD came along I really didn't want to and I was lucky enough not to have to. I still feel bad for how much I mucked them around though!

elephantfeet · 05/07/2015 22:35

Hello to all the new people! I was supposed to have my booking in appointment tomorrow but they have rung to rearrange it today as they are apparently overrun with women giving birth at the minute! So they have given me a new appointment on Thursday and have offered me another scan on Thursday as well to make up for it which is good!! So fingers crossed on Thursday I will see a 10-11 week bean and actually know how far along I am rather than guessing Smile

christianmama · 05/07/2015 22:42

Just a quick one, I fell over today on my side (right knee, hip and shoulder) I've no symptoms such as spotting or cramping and am 10 weeks. Has anyone experience of falling in the first trimester and what did u do?

Spanoo · 06/07/2015 07:51

Sorry mama Im not sure. Hope you're ok. Was it a bad fall? Could u ask your GP/midwife for advice?

Urgh the nausea has really hit me this morning and last night. Poor sleep and no idea how I'm supposed to work like this! ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

jellypi3 · 06/07/2015 07:53

Morning everyone. Welcome to the new folk.

Yay for a free scan elephant. I've got my next scan tomorrow, I'll be 10+3. Very nervous about it but trying to think about the positives.

birdbrain21 · 06/07/2015 08:56

mama as long as you have no spotting or cramping I think falls I first trimester are normally okay as the uterus is still protected in the pelvis so even ig you fall on your front your baby is still protected

QuackQuackers · 06/07/2015 09:07

mama i think the only potential issue is if you are Rheusus negative.

I am, so during my last pregnancy, when I had a fall I had to have another injection.

Do you know what blood type you are? I would call MW if I were you, though hopefully there's no issue.

Carltonlives · 06/07/2015 10:38

Morning everyone! Hope alls well Smile

mama I'm not sure, I definitely think it's worth a call to your midwife to check though. Hope you're ok

Yay to everyone with scans and heartbeats and stuff! So exciting that you've seen your babies already.

I've been feeling really nauseous and zero energy all weekend. Have my booking in with the midwife today though. Hopefully it won't take too long but I had quite a bad birth last time around and not looking forward to reliving it when I have to tell the midwife!
Happy Monday peeps Grin

Mawsymoo · 06/07/2015 11:28

Happy Monday all! This time next week I'll be in my first appointment Shock (I'm in Ireland so it's a booking appointment and 12-week scan together). I'm starting to get nervous now after being very zen and "what will be will be" after the bleeding. I hope the week flies by.

If all goes well we will have to think about starting to tell people. I feel a bit nervous about telling my mother as she is going to think we are crazy having another so soon and we are having a bit of a financial/house issue at the moment so the timing isn't exactly ideal... bit ridiculous to be worried about telling your mother you're pregnant in your mid-30's isn't it?!
