Yes, heartbeat can be listened to at 16wks.

I love Cedric! And Sid! And Walter!

Raaaaaah · 02/07/2015 20:33

I still hadn't received a midwife appt yesterday so called the hospital. No record of GP referral. They faxed it again today. I must remember to check that they have it tomorrow. So frustrating as the same happened with DD. It's such an archaic system.

purdiepipesup · 02/07/2015 20:34

Raaaa, now I need to know your daughter's name to understand the Queenie reference.

Raaaaaah · 02/07/2015 20:41

It's not a reference to her name but to her behaviour!

Mawsymoo · 02/07/2015 20:47

Hi all I'm back for the time being! I had a big bleed on the Monday of last week but since then it has eased off and stopped so I have decided to wait until my appointment on the 13th to see how things are going unless something else happens in the meantime. It's not too long to go now. I'm feeling quite positive at the moment as I have been able to find the HB on my doppler since last week - it's a cheap one that has been passed on through many pregnancies for me and my friends and luckily enough I still have it from last time! So I'm keeping everything crossed that the bleeding will stay away now and the haemorrhage will disappear.

Congrats to all on the good scan news!

rallytog1 · 02/07/2015 21:01

Yay mawsy Smile

So much happy news over the last couple of days. Long may it continue.

Tiredoftiredness · 02/07/2015 21:01

Thanks for the info on HB hearing - didn't realise it was THAT long to wait!

DH out tonight and I am curled on the sofa wAtching crap TV with a pot of strawberry shortcake frozen yogurt. Happy!

ATrueNerd · 02/07/2015 21:24

Purdie- haha! I didn't think that screen name through! Thanks, trying to stay positive, I have two lovely dd's and this pregnancy was a surprise so if it doesn't work out then we will just carry on with our original plans, still worried all the time though!

With my first mc, dd1 was only 2 months old so that must have played a part in it. The 2nd mc, was discovered at my 12 week scan that baby had died at 9 weeks, when I was 9 weeks I had got up from the floor awkwardly and felt a "pop" so I'm sure that that was what caused it, a friends mum told me she had a similar experience, she stretched up and felt a pop and then went on to lose the baby.. Has anyone else heard any stories like this?

ATrueNerd · 02/07/2015 21:27

Phoenix - I think Chris Evans's kids are called Noah and Eli?

Phoenix80 · 02/07/2015 21:30

Yes they are. We found that out once we'd decided we really liked Eli Sad

ATrueNerd · 02/07/2015 21:35

Tired- I heard heartbeat at 10 weeks with dd2 with a home doppler, it took a long time to find (instructions said from 12 weeks) and I don't think the midwife believed me but it def was the baby's and not my own because it was much faster.

Rufus- I'm def craving elderflower! and also Purdeys Rejuvenate which I had never had until about 5 days ago and now can't stop thinking about! similar taste to elderflower just not quite as sweet. I'm not feeling sick really (worrying) but having some weird cravings.

ATrueNerd · 02/07/2015 21:38

Phoenix-I'm sure not many people would know, or even give it a second thought if they did, I didn't know til the other day when my mum was talking about it. They go really nicely together.

StockingFullOfCoal · 02/07/2015 22:01

purdie My best friend was considering Ezekiel for her boy (he ended up being a Tobias) and I really like it!

Does anyone have any experience with CONI? (Care Of Next Infant) The MW is referring us at 24 weeks. Its to do with SIDS/any infant death and helping the parent cope.

How awful, True Sad How are you a nerd? Do tell...

Stocking, I'm sorry I cannot help, bless you.

I love Ezekial! When I think of a Zeke I imagine an old, grizzled black man playing the harmonica on his porch somewhere in Mississippi and talking nonsense while his wife makes grits

purdiepipesup · 02/07/2015 22:17

I have several helpful tips next time y'all are in town:

  1. DON'T go in the butchers. Fucking stinks.

  2. Don't go in Clinton Cards. There is a malidorous stench of stale pasties coming from their carpets. Either that or the behemoth behind the till had been to Dreggs for lunch.

  3. Four Creme Eggs for a quid in WH Smith. Get in.

purdiepipesup · 02/07/2015 22:18

*Ezekiel.

purdiepipesup · 02/07/2015 22:20

maladorous. I hate my phone.

Mawsy, really hoping for the best for you, love.

StockingFullOfCoal · 02/07/2015 22:43

There is an actual cold breeze tonight Grin I am so happy about this! Although I am struggling to nod off so have Hobbit#3 on so I can swoon over Bard. Netflix is worth every penny, as is Sky Go and Prime. Makes the tedium of insomnia not so bad. I'd have killed for something like this a decade ago when it was at its most severe. I can quote Firefly and Serenity in their entirety along with Buffy, and around 20 films due to being awake 21 hours a day for the best part of a year.

Atruenerd is there any proof behind your 'pop' feeling theory. You've really freaked me out I was lying down before and had a weird feeling in my tummy when I stood up. I'm 10 weeks and no history of previous mc but it can happen to anyone I only have my booking in tomorrow so still will be a few weeks till my scan and can't afford a private one.

Heartbeat can be heard from really early on but hard to find easily till 16 weeks so mw won't listen before then incase they can't find it and freak you out from what I remember last time. Some midwives won't even listen till the 20+ week check up

IslaMann · 02/07/2015 23:38

Thanks to everyone for my birthday wishes. Have had a good day, been spoilt by DH. Booking appointment in the morning so best try and sleep. Night all.

Pagerty · 03/07/2015 00:14

Morning all. Happy belated birthday Isla and definitely good luck for today brummie.

We won't be finding out the sex. We didn't with dd and I spent the entire pregnancy convinced she was a boy, so it was an amazing shock when the surgeon told us she was a girl. Hope to have that feeling again although I feel pretty sure this one will be a boy, as the pregnancy is totally different so far.

You've got me thinking about Zipporah for a girl now purdie...

StockingFullOfCoal · 03/07/2015 07:58

Not finding out here! I've only found out with 1 of my 3 and that was because the Consultant dropped it out when he was giving me an emergency scan due to bleed at 28 weeks "Well, she looks nice and comfy in there, she's not in any distress, but, x y and z are malfunctioning/wrong/low" and then we double checked what he'd said a week later at another scan.
