Happy Birthday Isla.

I knew two brothers called Ronnie and Reggie Grin. I actually like the name Sid too but it would completely out of sync with DD and DS's names.

Boobear1983 · 02/07/2015 17:35

I'm glad it's not just me craving meat. I just can't seem to stop eating but only really plain stuff. The thought of a 'proper meal' makes my stomach turn, I've been loving off bread, chips and other crap. I'm normally a really healthy eater and i have to admit I'm worried the baby isn't getting enough nutrients. I'm eating plenty of fruit, just not vegetables.

mygreeneyedboy · 02/07/2015 17:46

boobear I craved meat with DS! But don't worry about the nutrients, I had Hyperemesis with him (and this preg) so I didn't eat healthily for months but he is a healthy little boy now!

Brummiegirl15 · 02/07/2015 18:10

Fab news Jelly!!

Mayo I'm still colouring my hair - blonde highlights

haquoi123 · 02/07/2015 18:13

boobear the baby takes its nutrients from you, the stuff that you already have, so don't worry. It's just about keeping your health up and enough people get ms that it should be fine

birdbrain21 · 02/07/2015 18:15

Thrilled for those who have had good scans.
The whole food thing is mad, last time I webt off meat and apart from a couple of days where I got really in the mood for something I had no cravings this time I'm in the mood for/ggone off something different every day. Despite being so hot I was feeling ill yesterday the Only thing I wanted for supper was soup Hmm
dh is out tonight hope dd will go to bed nicely so I can put my feet up and chill. She's currently offering me pretend food as though she knows I'm starving all the time Grin

LazyRohazy · 02/07/2015 18:37

Hello! I've been a bit quiet recently, though I was on the last thread a bit.

Today I had my first scan, at 6+0. We heard the heartbeat (110bpm - sonographer said this was good as at 6wks they just want it over 100) and measuring to date.

Hooray! I know we're not out of the woods yet, but we're feeling very hopeful!

Marsaday · 02/07/2015 18:42

Hooray for the heartbeat jelly glad your bean is hanging in there despite the bleed.

Marsaday · 02/07/2015 18:46

Oops posted too soon!
Congrats on your scan too lazy
This thread moves so quickly in the day when im at work , i can't keep up.
Looooong day for me feeling really grotty and nauseous . Managed to teach two lessons before i vommed.
Whoever said about soup, I'm supposed to be having it for tea but just the thought of it is making me feel queasy.
NEED CARBS!! ( why no smiley for piles of pasta and bread and chips???)

purdiepipesup · 02/07/2015 18:58

You can dye your hair.

I'm going back to work tomorrow. It's easier than having to entertain a 15 month-old baby.

purdiepipesup · 02/07/2015 19:03

Nerd (I keep seeing your username as ANewTurd), welcome and congratulations. I am sorry you have suffered a loss. This baby is from a new egg so there is every chance this will be your take-home baby Thanks

Raaa, thanks for the compliment about my tot's name. I love it, too. I have chosen my boy's name: Ezra. If it's a girl: Queenie. But this is definitely a boy Hmm

Marsaday · 02/07/2015 19:17

Omg purdie you have names already?!?!
We debated names for months with ds, settled on girls name, had no idea about boys. Then 20 week scan.showed a boy! Still had no idea until 48 hours after he was born. I confess that we will be stuck if this is another boy as ds name was the only one we agreed on!

LillianMakesAMinion · 02/07/2015 19:20

I'm another who is craving carbs and anything savoury... i could have pasta every day and as someone known for having a sweet tooth I find myself strangely reaching out for crisps instead of chocolate these days!

I got my booking in appointment letter today! Strangely it won't involve a scan. They may book in a scan at the appointment if you opt in for the Downs Syndrome test. If you opt out of that your first scan is the dating scan sometime in the first 19 weeks... that sounds strange to me I always thought they did a first trimester scan? 19 weeks seems a bit late.

My appointment is on my 10 week mark and I'm away on my 12-15th weeks so I REALLY hope they can book me in before I leave... otherwise I may have to pay for a private scan for my own peace of mind before I leave for my holiday.

How much notice do you normally need for a private scan?

Phoenix80 · 02/07/2015 19:21

Hi. I posted on here a week or so ago but just been reading since. Great seeing all the happy scan news.

I've been for my booking in with mw today. I have absolutely no idea how far I am (pcos and not having periods very often) but mw has guesstimated around 9 weeks but it's a big guess which would give me a due date at the beginning of Feb. I now have to wait 7-10 days for a scan appointment to arrive then wait for the scan Smile.

Purdie - I love the name Ezra and its on my list but dh isn't keen. We both really like Eli but we have a Noah so it might be a bit too bible-y. No idea for girls names though.

twinsandapenguin · 02/07/2015 19:34

Lillian, that is strange that they don't offer a scan at all until 19 weeks. We have a booking in appointment first, then 12 week scan separately and then 20 week scan.
It is usually about £100 for a private scan and they can fit you in the next day sometimes. Ultrasound direct are good.
Also been stupidly busy at work so not much time to post. Glad to hear about the successful scan ladies.
I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow!
We decided names right at the last minute with dd, after deliberating for months we found the perfect name with days to go! I def want to find out the sex this time to cut the name debating in half!

Marsaday · 02/07/2015 19:41

lillian i had this issue about scan dates so i wrote a letter to the midwife explaining my concern that i would miss nuchal scan window due to being away. Was very apologetic about causing them inconvenience by going away at that time.
They sent off my scan request early so i now know that my scan is 2 days after booking in.
Might be worth a go for you to do the same?

StockingFullOfCoal · 02/07/2015 20:00

Speaking of dreams, I am developing a very unhealthy obsession with Tom Hiddleston... I rewound the Jaguar advert like 6 times today... Blush Loki is my favourite, but I cannot wait for Crimson Peak.

LillianMakesAMinion · 02/07/2015 20:03

that sounds like a good idea marsaday! I'll definitely give them a call tomorrow. I have a 2 week window between my booking in appointment and when I leave so hopefully they will be able to accommodate it.

thanks SmileSmile

twinsandapenguin I think a private scan would definitely be my option 2 and £100 seems reasonable for our peace of mind

Brummiegirl15 · 02/07/2015 20:06

I've just cried at the Apple watch advert

WTf? Confused

Tiredoftiredness · 02/07/2015 20:15

I'm soooo glad it's cooler today, not slept for the last 2 nights and have been in the foulest mood!

Lovely to see more and more happy scan news and pics.

I've completely lost all symptoms in the last 2 days, and whilst it's lovely not to feel sick for a change it has of course got me worrying again!

Does anyone remember at what point the MW can hear a HB? I have a feeling that at my booking appt with DS she wouldnt listen as it was too early, but was hoping they might at my booking appt next week (will be nearly 10 weeks by then)?

Boobear1983 · 02/07/2015 20:17

I'm confused now. I had an initial appointment with the midwife at my doctors surgery. They did basic assessment, bmi etc. I then got the choice of two hospitals, i chose the nearest and they said they'd send the paperwork off and I'd hear from the hospital.

I've got two appointments, one july 9th when I'm about 10 weeks, and a nuchal scan on the 23rd when I'll be around 12 weeks (ish). Is this just the normal 12 week scan?

purdiepipesup · 02/07/2015 20:18

Mars, I'm going to use the names I loved for Nancy but wasn't allowed to use. I'm having my way this time.

Phoenix, hello, I'm sorry I must've missed your debut last week. I adore bible names and am even considering Zipporah for a girl this time, though I know the thought of Zippy will cause me to bottle it (Zipporah was Moses' wife). Nothing could be too biblical for me; I love Jezebel and Salome but they were both prostitutes. I adore Lucius and Cassius for a boy (both New Testament) and Enoch and Ezra from the Old Testament. I love your Noah. I would've had Moses this time were it not for the fact that Charity from Emmerdale has just sprogged one Hmm

mygreeneyedboy · 02/07/2015 20:25

tired DS heartbeat was heard at 16 weeks by the midwife, I don't think you can before that!

I haven't heard anything about my booking appointment which is meant to be in a week and a half. Doesn't matter too much as my aunt is one of the midwives (haven't actually told her yet..) and I'm moving country in August. I'll fly back for the 12 week scan though as I doubt I can be organised enough to get one in time when we arrive.

I love bible names but DP isn't too keen. We have an Edward. If this one is a boy it may be cedric George or George cedric. Both names are my granddads. Girl would be felicity else (my middle name and then dp's beloved grandma's name) - else pronounced elsa.

Rufus200 · 02/07/2015 20:29

tired I had the exact same worry yesterday, felt completely normal, currently trying not to be sick on my mum's sofa!

I think I have found what was stopping me being nauseous! Elderflower cordial, I had drunk a large bottle in 3 days. Today not had any, just straight water and my nausea is terrible! Must be the almost pure sugar that stops the nausea. Currently drinking it nearly neat to try and take the nausea away again.

Raaaaaah · 02/07/2015 20:29

Our daughters's nickname is Queenie Purdie. She hates it, we love it Grin.

I caved and booked a scan at FMC (can't remember who recommended but thank you). They are rammed appointment wise. I haven't actually told DP yet. He will think that it is pregnancy neurosis, which it probably is!
