Anybody else out there??! Just got my faint BFP on a first response test! Only 9DPO so shouldn't really have tested - I told myself I wouldn't till I missed my period! - but was just feeling very pregnant. My due date is showing as 1st March. This would be number 2 for me, I already have a little girl, 20 months. Only symptoms so far are very sore boobs and a snuffy nose first thing in the morning!

Paper Please don't leave us!! There's bound to be others who end up giving birth in February anyway.

Embolio Sorry to hear about your Dad.

Feeling really sick today, which is unusual (never had morning sickness), so I hope I haven't got a tummy bug. I ate some salami before I remembered it was on the banned list (on a few occasions last week) and now am feeling worried and guilty.

I'm another one with LMP of 31st May, and am counting myself as 7 weeks today, regardless of cycle length. For a start, it gives me a better case for asking for a scan next week, (I was offered one at 7 weeks in next pg after previous mc) and if the dates are moved backwards, it won't be by very much. I'm calling the epu tomorrow so praying they agree to scan me soon as I am going crazy trying to work out if my symptoms are getting any less or if things feel any different. If I have mc again, I'd rather just know instead of living in false hope, as happened last time. Good luck to everyone else trying for an early scan.

Kittykitty05 · 19/07/2015 20:47

Embolio my step dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year, treatment has been relatively simple and extremely effective as his score is now 0.1, which is apparently superb a few months on from treatment.
Paper why early induction? Seems very early to think about such things!
I'm seriously shattered after a day full of birthday celebrations for my eldest, literally not stopped since 8 this morning when we went for breakfast! I'm actually scheduling in a nap for tomorrow!

Missdee2014 · 19/07/2015 21:15

Thanks for everyone's kind wishes for my mum. It's awful Embolio, I'm struggling and my mum hasn't even started any treatment yet. Goodness knows what I'll be like when she does. I've cried most of today again, just randomly bursting out crying. Feel it's a mix of pregnancy hormones and the shock of my mums news and the fear of what's to come in the coming months.

BeautifulLiar · 19/07/2015 21:46

We're here for you misdee Thanks

Yeh Paper, why the induction? You can't just dump us with no explanation like that!! But ooh, I'm excited for your potential leap year baby! That's pretty unique.

Horrid taste in mouth, nausea and excess saliva right now but still a dream compared to my last two pregnancies. Fx.

Is anyone not having an early scan? I had scans at about 6.5 weeks with my DDs, but I'm going to resist this time and wait it out. I don't want an early scan to take away the excitement of the 12 week one (I'm sure it wouldn't, i like to overthink!) but DH is away anyway AND its the school hols as of Thursday so there'd be no opportunity to go anyway.

Kittykitty05 · 19/07/2015 22:07

Mine meant to be early scan as had mmc's in past and late loss this year due to Patau syndrome, but due to hols I've realised I'll be 11 weeks so not really early, then I'll have main 12 week scan a week later! Was wondering whether to squeeze one in next week before we go away, but as my mmc both died at 8+5, a scan at 8 isn't overly reassuring for me Hmm I do know being under consultant I'll have extra scans along the way, and if everything is ok, we'll know from testing whether we're team pink or blue by 12/13 weeks!

Herewegoagain31 · 19/07/2015 22:19

kitty just to warn you one of my friends did harmony and was told she was having a boy then found out at the 5 month scan it was actually a girl! I think I'm going to be getting harmony done too but after hearing that it seems holding off buying any clothes until the gender has been confirmed at 5 months is probably sensible!

OP posts:
Kittykitty05 · 19/07/2015 22:43

That's a worry as they look at baby's DNA, thank for the warning! I won't be buying anything before the anomaly scan anyway, hurts too much if things go wrong Sad

Poppins27 · 19/07/2015 22:47

Beautiful, I'm definitely not going to be having an early scan. Will be sooo hard waiting until 12 weeks but am a firm believer in what will be will be?! Didn't have an early scan with Dd and hadn't realised so many people had them if I'm honest, unless there was a scare in the early days obviously?!

Misdee, it's completely understandable if your tearful, I would be even without hormones being thrown into the mix!! bless you and your mum ????

Herewegoagain31 · 20/07/2015 00:47

kitty I think it's more that the report is produced wrong (so human error someone clicking boy instead of girl in the option when reporting back) rather than an error with the analysis. I've read quite a few reports of it online and now my friend had it i think it just is good to know as a caution not to take the gender part as bible - the other (important) bits are 99% accurate or whatever the stats are. I'm with you though on not buying anything early, I feel too like it can be tempting fate, I didn't get any of the nursery things for my dd till the latest they could be ordered last time and will probably be the same this time!

OP posts:
BeautifulLiar · 20/07/2015 06:46

I had early scans before because with one I got pregnant on the pill and was due to start uni so wanted to check due date and with the other i had some brown bleeding. But the prices have almost doubled at the clinic near me so I'm going to hold off.

Don't want to get up Sad

Indomitable · 20/07/2015 07:22

Morning, I need to empty my brain on you. You don't need to read it!

I've got that super early pregnancy terror: no real symptoms (though I've been prioritising sleep after the exhaustion last week). Haven't got the bloating I thought I remembered from last time (though have been wearing different, lower waisted jeans this time). And of course, it's still really early (4+3). I wouldn't expect someone else to have definite symptoms at this stage.

All because I was POASing like it was going out of fashion.

On the other hand it's CD32 today, which is the longest cycle recorded since DS was conceived. And my boobs are still sore, and I've had to wake up in the night to wee.

I want to make the most of this time feeling well. I need to sort myself out.

I'm going to ring the midwife unit today to see if I can book in. It won't jinx it because superstition isn't reality (repeats to self). Will it. No.

Thanks. All done, feeling better! Grin

Paperblank · 20/07/2015 07:52

Morning Smile

indomitable ring and book in lovey!! do it today.

It is REALLY early to be talking about induction and stuff but my pregnancy is going to be consultant led because I have type 2 diabetes, I'm really old (41), and I have a high BMI. It fairly common to induce diabetics because we tend to have big babies.

So that's it really. I guess they have a lot of behind the scenes coordination to do with all mums let alone those who are a bit complicated. From the sound of it I'll be at the hospital every other week.

So although they are talking about delivery I am just taking every day as it comes. Today I am pregnant....there is no guarantee I'll get to the end but I have everything crossed I do.

Me624 · 20/07/2015 08:45

Morning ladies! I've got my booking in appointment this morning, I'm so excited (even though everyone says it's boring) because it's the first proper pregnant thing I've done! I'm 7+3 which is slightly early, think they normally do it at 8-9 weeks, but the midwife only does booking ins on Mondays in my area and I can't do the next one and didn't want to wait until 9 weeks! So here we go.

Indomitable ring and book yours! It definitely won't jinx anything.

marmitemofo · 20/07/2015 09:16

I'm not having an early scan. I kind of want one as we're going to be telling people over the next few weeks as it's my 30th birthday in two weeks and so will be obvious, and I thought about having a scan beforehand but DP is not on board with it at all and doesn't see the point in spending money on it.

indomitable ring and book! it won't jinx anything. Also, enjoy being symptom free while it lasts..

6+1 today and I woke up feeling awful. The last couple of days I've had early wake ups (4.30 yesterday, 5am today), which I had when pregnant with DD. Managed to get back to sleep then DD woke up at 5.45. Felt so awful and sicky this morning, was rushing round getting ready for work and had to rush to the loo as dry heaving. just glad I haven't been sick yet. I wasn't ever actually sick with DD so hoping I avoid it again. This preg has been very similar to DD except for no sore boobs - have had stuffy nose, acid-y feeling in tummy and now dry heaving. Unfortunately I had that until 16 weeks with DD so got another 10 weeks to go Confused

I also have a long meeting in work today (2-3 hours), I have no idea how I'm going to get through it and another long meeting tomorrow morning (2 hours). All I want to do is go home and get into bed...

maybebabybee · 20/07/2015 09:18

I really want an early scan too but I'm not sure it's going to help me...if I see a HB at 7 weeks it doesn't mean all will be ok at 12 weeks, does it?

I might try to get referred through my GP though.

Really in two minds about it. What have others experiences of them been?

Celen · 20/07/2015 09:29

Hi ladies, very tentatively getting onto the March bus if there's any spare space? Tested positive since 3+4 & now 5 weeks, due date is March 22nd.

I was on the August 2015 briefly but sadly had an early MC which is why I'm cautiously getting on this bus!

I've read back all the pages and I don't have many symptoms (yet!) but I didn't with my first DC (born October 2012) either so not too worried about that:- exhaustion, early waking, headaches so far. Everytime I feel a niggle, ache, cramp type thing in my uterus I feel comforted that something is happening Blush

Re: early scans. I'll be having one as I did with my first DC as it'll help ease my worry a bit. The rate of MC drops significantly after the heart is formed and then drops again at around 14 weeks I believe. There are obviously no guarantees with any pregnancy (my friend tragically lost her baby at 22 weeks) but while I'm hopeful, I'm not yet excited which I want to be!

QforCucumber · 20/07/2015 09:31

Only time I had an early scan was 1st pregnancy due to pains, showed no HB at 8+2, not sure if to request one or not this time.

woken up this morning and my work trousers fit again, bloating has gone completely - which only serves to make me worry that something has gone wrong Hmm never bloody stops does it!

Good luck me you'll have to let us know how it goes.

indomitable I booked mine at 4 weeks, but it's not until 9 weeks so glad I did, they were soo full. get them called.

maybebabybee · 20/07/2015 09:48

welcome celen, sorry for your MC but FX for this time :) I'm also cautious after an early MC in early June.

Indomitable · 20/07/2015 11:02

Thanks for all the encouragement. I doubt myself so much it's good to have validation.

I rang, they said the Midwife will ring me tomorrow to book an appointment. And that I should pick up a pack of forms to complete before the booking appt.

I happened to pass the unit on my way back from nursery so dropped in. Keen-o that I am. So I've just filled in a bunch of the forms! It feels much more real now!

I don't think I'll be having an early scan unless something frightening happens. 12 week scan (or 11-14 week scan as its called on my forms) should be sometime after I'm back at work in September.

I've seen a lot of articles around about why we should wait till 12 weeks to announce. The question being, who are we trying to protect? I feel odd about telling anyone yet, but I'll probably tell my mum when I see her in a couple of weeks. If I feel awful, I'll define telling my close friends so they can understand.

But then there's the friends with fertility issues. One is about to have her eggs harvested. I really want it to work for her before I say anything.

Me624 · 20/07/2015 11:58

Just got home from my booking in! I'm glad I took the morning off work, it went on for quite a while. My midwife seems really nice and I am low risk for everything so will have midwife led care. We filled in lots and lots of forms, then next week I have to call the hospital to book my scan date. I'm glad we can do it over the phone because I'm on holiday around then so it would be a pain for them to just send me a date in the post that I can't do and have to try and rearrange it.

They didnt take bloods at booking in, I have to go separately to a walk in clinic to do that once I have my scan date. It's a pain as it means another morning off work, will have to come up with some more excuses as I'm really not comfortable telling them until we know everything is ok.

So that's it really, now got my early scan to look forward to this weekend!

marmitemofo · 20/07/2015 12:24

indomitable that's an interesting point about telling people before the scan. I read an article recently on mc which interviewed women who had gone through it and one of them said that they felt the whole 'secrecy before 12 weeks' thing contributes to the taboo surrounding mc. I had a friend who had a mmc last year and she calls it 'the shittiest secret club' because after telling people about it she realized how many people she knew had had similar experiences but its not something we talk about as a society. I think you have to go with what you feel most comfortable doing. we're going to tell people early (and did with DD) since we figure if we had a mc we would want people to know because we would need support. I guess you can still tell people after the fact but I would find it harder and it would be more likely to stay a secret because I wouldn't know even where to start. but I totally understand that some people don't want to tell anyone till its more of a sure thing (i.e. after the scan)

marmitemofo · 20/07/2015 12:28

also sorry all as I just read that back and realised it was a really depressing post Confused...

changing the subject, is anyone else absolutely starving?! I'm feeling sick but also massively hungry today, thought I was imagining it but my stomach has been growling all morning despite me eating near constantly Hmm

maybebabybee · 20/07/2015 12:38

It's a very personal choice but I do tell quite a few people before 12 weeks. I did with my MC pregnancy and I don't regret it at all - particularly with work as it meant when I started having pains I could immediately leave the office to go to the doctors with no questions asked. Plus I knew that if the people close to me knew about it I'd want their support even if it did go wrong.

I'm the same this time round - would rather tell people and have the support. But everyone is different.

Marmite I was starving all weekend - to the point where I had a massive dinner, still wasn't full and was snacking all evening and had to get up at 2am to have a bowl of cereal.

Today it's the opposite - not hungry at all, don't seem to fancy anything. I don't feel particularly sick but do keep getting these vague waves of nausea from time to time.

Hmm, maybe I should have an early scan at 8 weeks then! Undecided :S
