Bubblez - I am also a squirrel - I could put list making (and list re-writing) at the top of my hobbies list! I have two lists at the moment - things I need for birth/baby and things that I don't need but want! The latter includes a Britt Teddy Jacket from Igloo Kids and the booties/baby gro from Bonnie Baby which is either pink or blue with the rainbow on the arms/legs and a Noonoo! I am hoping that when people ask me what I need - I will tell them the things on the second list!

MIAM wonderful news about you getting your money back

Doghouse congratulations on your pink bean! Did you have a pink feeling at all before or blue or nothing?

And everything else i was gonna say to people has gone right out my head!!

On maternity clothes I am thoroughly peed off as although we have lots of shops which have a maternity range they dont sell it here. There was a specialist maternity shop opened up shortly after I had ds and then closed down just a month or 2 before I got pg this time! So the only shop we have where I can buy maternity clothes is bloody mothercare and they dont exactly have alot in there. Hopefully though if I do get to ikea in bristol I can convince dp to go to cribbs causeway so I can h&m. Bit too scared to drive all round bristol on my own though as I only passed my test in july and my driving is ok but driving and trying to work out where the hell Im going is abit beyond me at the moment!!

Bubblez I've had my odd moment of planning but not alot really. But 1st time round I had lists for everything, and I remember around 6 months pg ironoing all baby clothes and sheets and vests and muslin squares, last time i ever did that!!
Once ive had my scan I wanna get up in the loft and get all my baby stuff down and see what i need and hopefully I'll know if its blue or pink so can keep out all the right colour clothes. I think I've kept everything dd and ds have ever worn and my sister has an 18 month old dd and has kept bags and bags of clothes for me just in case mine's pink. So my biggest problem as far as baby clothes now is trying to find ways of justifying buying new clothes! Although the seasons were wrong!! Ha ha! Dd was november so her clothes mite be too warm and ds was aug so his wont be warm enough!! So looks like I will have to buy some new baby clothes after all, what a shame

doghouse · 18/11/2006 13:21

Pesha - I had a pink bean feeling definitely and many people said so based on how I was 'carrying' LOL
Had a dream the night before that it was pink too!

bubblez · 18/11/2006 13:52

lol - Ck I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have 100's of lists some on the pc some in my notebook... Lists to remind me of what I'll need Lists to estimate the cost, baby gift lists (for when ppl ask what to get) oh and the 'things I want for baby but don't really need'. Then there is the 'how am I going to afford all of this' list.

Because I won't be let out of the house for two weeks (due to superstition and the practice of both sides of our very different cultered families) there is the 'stocking up list'.

Pesha - I thought that seeing as this is my 2nd child I would be a lot calmer about all of this. But it seems that I am worse than with my 1st and can't help but write a list for everything.

emmymummy · 18/11/2006 14:24

Bubblez - at your list writing - I'm starting to get twitchy about what we'll need this time too, but am waiting til next scan before I start rummaging in the loft and retrieving all the loaned out items. Also bean's bedroom is currently full of crap, so that needs sorting and decorating before we can start filling it with anything anyway.

Doghouse - that's wonderful news about the pink bean. Bet you'll get loads of people saying that they knew it was going to be a girl!

Well DH went out to his army do last night and got pissed as a fart, has come home feeling sick, and has now gone to bed , leaving me to look after dd. Cheeky bastard. I have said to him now he knows how I've been feeling for the last 3 months, and in that time I must have taken to my bed in the afternoon all of twice. Its a good job men don't have to have babies or the world would die out!

mammyjo · 18/11/2006 14:33

Emmymummy, I think you should give him an hour or so in bed then "accidentally" let your dd wake him up. I agree with you, months of nausea that you are just expected to get on with!

Doghouse, congrats on your pink bean!

Bubblez how do you feel about not going out for 2 weeks? I think I would go mad! With dd i was in safeway with her aged 3 days although i did get a fair bit of tutting and disapproving looks and lectures off xp's mum about prolapses and frozen babies or some rubbish. And with ds he was born 5 to midnight on the sat and we were out and about on monday. But if its an enforced period of rest does that mean you gets lots of looking after and help? Cos I think I might stay in for that!!

And I think I probably would be writing more lists if i had more time and I was abit more organised! Im going to have to when b-day gets a bit closer cos my memory is getting gradually worse, if I dont write it down it wont happen!

emmymummy · 18/11/2006 14:41

Argh sorry!
dd has just come downstairs - apparently daddy is "laying down watching the stupid old football or rugby or whatever it is" Grrrrr He's gonna pay big time tomorrow when I refuse to lift a finger.

runnyhabbit · 18/11/2006 14:53

Doghouse - congratulations on your pink bean!

I'm a list writer too. Just as I was getting memory back from first time, I go and get pregnant again, so memory is disappearing fast Have decided to start "stocking up" after Christmas for things like baby wipes, nappies, plain vests, sleepsuits etc.

Going now as I am in domestic goddess mood - have got turkey breast in oven, and I'm feeling this mad urge to clean the kitchen (dh says I shouldn't fight the urge and go with it )

bubblez · 18/11/2006 14:54

TBH pesha with dd I did go mad ...as soon as the two weeks were up I went out and walked arround the block about three times (didn't have anywhere specific to go ). I did get things done for me though which was a bonus. Hopefully this time will be the same....

Although with the way that dp is going on I very much doubt that I will get any sort of help/pampering from him.

bubblez · 18/11/2006 14:56

I forgot to add "ggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" @ dp

emmymummy · 18/11/2006 15:04

Blimey Runnyhabbit, can you pop round here afterwards? You could knock us up some supper and give the oven a once-over!.

Bubblez - I would go truely bonkers if I couldn't get out of the house for 2 weeks. Are you allowed out in the garden in that time?

emmymummy · 18/11/2006 15:09

Ha ha haaaaaa! Dd has just gone and sung Jingle Bells really loudly to dh! He's still in bed though. Have just given dd a lolly to get her nicely hyped up - I can hear her shouting now. I am meeeeeean!!

CornflakeKid · 18/11/2006 15:18

Am home alone for 2 hours - yipppeee!

Pesha - if you go to Ikea - Mamas and Papas is next door at the far end of the retail park and there is also a mothercare. M&P do some nice clothes - not too expensive either.

Off to pack the spare room junk into boxes pending arrival of sisters baby stuff next weekend! I need to make lists as got rid of all my own baby stuff...hoping to get most of it in John Lewis sale in january!

Nice yummy choccie biscuits in cupboard - see you later - x factor night!

bubblez · 18/11/2006 15:41

Enjoy your alone time CK

Emmymummy - I don't think I am as the whole idea is that 'mother and baby' are prone to catching bugs etc (or something rediculous like that) after giving birth, and somehow magically after two weeks the risk is less. Not quite sure that I agree as there isn't any medical evidence to back up said wives tale. But dp is from a very opinunated west indian family and I am from a very superstitious Greek family and this seems to be one thing that they say in unison. (oh and dp agrees)

So am a little out numbered and way too weak to argue when just given birth.

Oh and pmsl at the mental image of your 'hungover' dh waking to Jingle bells

bubblez · 18/11/2006 15:44

ooooooooo missed the chocie biscuits part ............ ....... mmmmm much better
