Bramshott - hope you have heard from hubby by now. I woke at 3am to the most lashing rain I have heard all autumn. Absolutely foul - went on for a couple of hours. But I'm in East Devon so maybe Dartmoor was better (unlikely though - it always seems to rain more there!).

MIAM - yay for Farepak news! I saw a very sad news item on it last night with a little boy in tears and the asshole whose company it is sunning himself in Argentina or somewhere and refusing to pay a penny or say a word !!!

CaptainDippy · 17/11/2006 11:51

Wowzers you guys - You ARE busy - had logging onto the Net probs on Wed and the crappest day ever yesterday (I'll give you a guess, it involved in-laws!!) Anyway - I am here now, have tried to catch up as much as poss, but still a bit behind!!

Pesha - sorry I missed your Birthday honey, but Many Belated Wishes anyway - glad you had a nice time!!

Welcome to hotlipsmummy - enjoy the madness!!

I'm ok, just feeling a bit and shaky from a nasty yukky day DH and I had yesterday - horrid, horrid, horrid. Anyway, need to stick my chin up and get on with it. Off out to soft play centre with DD's this afternoon, should be fun, but I'm sure I'll be knackered on my return .......

Think DD2 is sickening for something, poor bean - was up crying hysterically last night and slept til 9.30 this morning!! Is alseep again now, bless her!!! Hope it doesn't last too long.

Anyway, too much to do as always - see you later!!

Hiya loves.
MIAM, I am delighted to hear you will get the money back - what great news, and what a relief.
Weeonion, I gave up work at 36 weeks with Becky, but am thinking I may leave earlier this time round - especially as SMP has been extended to 9 months.I think the earliest you can leave is 11 weeks before the due date.
Bramshott, hope you have heard from your dh and all is well.
So, how is everyone feeling today?
I am still having tweaky pains on and off. Feel a bit dizzy as well, but that could be tiredeness/ the need to eat.
Had a real "arrgh" moment with dd today. I found her sat in front of cbeebies with her arm around one of our cats. She was asking him if he was enjoying it! She later told me she had fed him with babies milk (the bottle that comes with Baby Annabel) because he was thirsty!! God love her!!
Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day, and I'll catch up with you all later. xx

heidle · 17/11/2006 13:17

...I only heard about 9 months maternity leave AFTER getting pg. Will now have to cross legs for last couple of weeks of April, and hope 3rd is as late as the first 2 (and refuse to be induced before 11pm on last day of april)

I think the bad mothering described above is balanced by wanting to spend more time off with new baby...........? or in front of fern & phil.......

Sexonlegs · 17/11/2006 13:31

It's great isn't it. As long as your due date is on or after 1st April 2007 (verified by midwife/GP), you will qualify - doesn't matter if the baby comes early.
I love Fern and Phil - I caught a bit tht eother day and they were talking about sex toys!!

heidle · 17/11/2006 14:03

OMG, OMG, OMG ........
i'd heard the 9 month thing was only if you had baby after april 07! but if it includes april, then - YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
wow, 3 months more than I thought...........hhhmmm.......so can have summer holidays off with kids, AND get organised for christmas without setting foot in this office?
what a cracking weekend this is going to be
may well have my ration of wine tonight!!!!!!

thanks sexonlegs - that's made my pregnancy!
not like phil's face with the cone - i saw that one too!

geordiemacminx · 17/11/2006 14:10

Heidle.. We'll let you take the full 9 months off.. only if you promise I can come and meet you some time in the summer in Hexham park with the babies!!!

Sexonlegs · 17/11/2006 14:10

Glad to be of service! I work in HR, so should know these things!
Enjoy your glass of wine! I had half a glass last night (pushed the boat out) and it was bloody lovely!
x

heidle · 17/11/2006 14:16

the terrible thing is, that I'm the payroll person for our wee company - so I should know too - I say should, what I should have done was look on tinternet in the first place instead of listening to gossip! Have just told dh, and he is rubbing his hands at the thought of all the extra money the company can claim!!! cheecky
GMM - great idea, can just picture our gorgeous bairns sleeping on a blanket in the shade while we knock back pimms..........roll on summer! have mint growing in the garden all ready - all welcome!

geordiemacminx · 17/11/2006 14:19

ITS SNOWING HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sexonlegs · 17/11/2006 14:30

SNOW!! Its pissing it down here and is so gloomy it feels like bedtime! I wish! I feel knackered. Think it is cos I am bored at work and clock watching - nothing worse!
Heidle, lol at you being in payroll and not knowing about SMP change date. Mind you, I don't exepect our payroll manager knows either - we are only 40 staff here and we only get 1 bod off on mat leave about once a year at the most! I don't think she'll believe me when I tell her - just making it up to suit me!!

heidle · 17/11/2006 14:41

snow?!!! you lucky thing!

we're only 12 staff here - all related, and there's only me and my sil young enough and female enough to take maternity leave. we've been taking it in turns for the last 5 years, and now fil has very grumpy face coz there's always one or the other of us off on mat leave, or being preg and useless, or ttc next one...bless him!
I know, I'm shite really, you'd think i'd know exactly what was going on. but hey I'm only in this job coz it's my dh family business - not coz i'm actually any good at any of it (or at least that's my excuse!)

Sexonlegs · 17/11/2006 14:54

You're brave working with your family! I couldn't do it I don't think.
I am annoyed to find that George in our Asda has stopped doing maternity clothes. Also, we used to be able to buy mat clothes in our Next, but it is all via the catalogue, and I can't be arsed with that!
What a pain!
Off to H&M at some point soon me thinks.

maveta · 17/11/2006 14:55

Hello Hello,

Am in more or less that order re. UK maternity leave!

Here in Spain we get 4 - yes, count 'em - FOUR months maternity leave!!! [sob]

I have to take any more time off at our own expense...which makes it an even more expensive business. Grrrr... think we will definitely be moving back to UK for future bubs.

heidle · 17/11/2006 14:56

Yes, you do really need to try stuff on - blummin next catalogue, and then they charge you for the blinking thing too!!!

geordiemacminx · 17/11/2006 14:57

I got a really nice dress and pair of trousers from H&M yesterday, also nipped into George at lunchtime and got a couple of stretchy dresses, one plain black and one wth green spots.. the arent maternity but are so stretchy that they will do a good few months!! Also... they have 20% off all clothes at the moment..

Sexonlegs · 17/11/2006 14:58

Maveta, that is awful - 4 months!
I thought Europe was more generous in terms of holiday, mat leave etc. I was wrong!

maveta · 17/11/2006 15:01

Maybe Northern Europe but not down here in the South, it's all pretty backward here! I am not even sure guys get paternity leave, I presume they get 2 weeks but heard recently it was more like 2 days!!

We'll boost it to 6 or 7 months and then I will hopefully only work part time so it shouldn't be too bad but was particularly awful for my sil who had a preemie at 7months and by the time he got out of hospital she only had about 6 weeks left!

Sexonlegs · 17/11/2006 15:05

GMM, snap with the black dress with green spots!!! It was in the Fast Fashion section for about £18 I think. I got one yesterday afternoon.
I thought it would look lovely with trousers a la Trinny and Susannah.
Saw some lovely black trousers in H&M yesterday too, but it was the last shop I visited and I was loaded with pressies and in dire need of a drink and a sit down, hence I didn't buy them!

mammyjo · 17/11/2006 15:10

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the support with ds and his tumble yesterday! He is absolutely fine now, whenever he comes downstairs now he tells me he is going to be very careful as he doesnt want to roll down again! Bless him! Its a wonder he didnt do himself some real damage. Lucky hes a sturdy boy I think, comes in handy sometimes! Just relieved that he is fine (phew emoticon)!

Bugmum, totally understand what you are saying about not feeling bonded to this baby. Not so much that I havent bonded but I certainly dont pay nearly so much attention this time - too many other things to do every day.

MIAM, wonderful news about your money. I am so pleased for you, hope you and your family have a wonderful and magical Christmas together, you all deserve it.

Having an ok day today. Off to buy my euromillions lottery ticket. You never know, someone has to win it dont they!!

mammyjo · 17/11/2006 15:12

Just thought, cant remember who asked about the measurement of the cerebellum but it is to look at spina bifida risk. A well formed cerebellum shows minimal chance of spina bifida. My sonographer also said that the size and formation of it is a good indicator of development for weeks gestation. Hope that makes sense!
