good news on scan bubblez
i had mine today too - which was lovely and comforting. There is still a baby in there, it's not just a combination of my imagination & crisps. All seems well anyway - thank god! We didn't ask sex, and got none of those subtle slips the sonographer sometimes makes - you know like 'well he looks fine'.........
hope you guys are all well, thanks for mattress views, it's lovely having suddenly loads more friends at exactly the same point in life as me!
g'night!

CornflakeKid · 21/11/2006 18:35

Congratulations on scans Heidle and Bubblez - really good news - can't wait til monday...getting quite excited now!

Lots of kicking today which is nice.

CaptainDippy · 21/11/2006 19:09

Evening all!

Sooooo hungry, so won't be long otherwise I might wither and die!!

pesha - I have been having lessons "this time round" for just over a yr now - Taken two tests so far, hoping to take another soon - instructor says my driving's more than good enough to pass, it is just .... I can't. Nice to know someone's as nervous about drivng alone as me though!!

Hi glitterkitty and katy44 - Nice to "see" you both. As has been said, glitter - different places do things differently as regards scans etc. It's quite reassuring that someone on this thread is having a later 2nd scan than me - I'm 20/12 and I thought that was late (I'm due on 26th April, so only a day behind you!)

bubblez and Heidle - Glad scans went well honeys. LOL @ 'ding dong' bubblez - so another possible Pink Bean for the thread, gosh, we are inundated with girlies!! I'm not finding out either Heidle, glad the sonographer didn't make any 'mistakes' and spoil it!!

Best go before I really do wither and die .....

Just a quickie to say hi! and at everyone's scans - such a lovely experience isn't it? I know some haven't had theirs yet but I am sure it will be worth the wait. We are still looking at the picture every night!

Have a lovely evening, what's left of it! x

EllieK · 21/11/2006 19:19

just a quick note on the bank charges stuff, i went into barclays on friday and saw a personal banker, she's started the whole process for me and was really lovely x

eca · 21/11/2006 19:43

Hi All

This thread has a life of its own i'm sure!

So lovely to hear news about everyone's scans coming in! Congrats all round.

I'm 20wks on sat and I haven't even got a date for mine yet. The midwife said it can sometimes be sent just a week before, but I'm not confident about the system coz when I first went to register as pregnant the doc/hospital lost my notes and when I finally got tracked a midwife down she'd never heard of me!

Bump feeling... mmm... The other day I had to fend off my fil. When my sil was pregnant he was always stroking/rubbing her for prolonged periods, even when he would be having a conversation with someone else! And so I knew I'd have to have words before he thought he could do that with me! It's a very wierd thing when people think they can just touch you, especially when they get a bit too close to down there!!

Hope everyone's doing ok!
Love eca
x

CaptainDippy · 21/11/2006 19:44

eca - I'd chase the sonography / midwifery dept tomorrow morning if I were you - people can "slip through the system" and you don't want to be one of them ..... just chase them up, I'm sure they won't mind honey!!

Hey wilderbeast

welcome, welcome.

just read you're intro post... are you doing a PhD? I'm half way through mine and pregnant with first and in a right panic about finishing! Also due to my awful timing it means I'll get zero maternity pay - and I'm self financed too ;(

i also had a really rocky start. 3 trips to hospital with threatened miscarriage. Not nice and has left me quite nervous about EVERYTHING! So lots of sympathy for you.

eca

eca · 21/11/2006 19:56

Thanks CD

I've been worried they'll think i'm a jittery first-timer pestering them! Esp. after having to pester at the start to get registered!

But I think you're right. Will call tomorrow if nothing comes in the post.

weeonion · 21/11/2006 20:27

evening folks! welcome wildebeast

bubbles and heidle - great news on the scans and pesha - good luck tomorrow.

eca- have to say yr FIL stroking bumps made me quiver. i couldnt bear that! i will be guarding this one v v closely!

19 weeks 2morro - the weeks are flying by.........

eca · 21/11/2006 20:34

lol weeonion!

dh is asking why I'm laughing and i've got to tell him I've posted online about his bump-stroking father!

Sexonlegs · 21/11/2006 20:56

Hiya ladies, I am delighted to say I am back on line at home. It was only my bloody dh's fault that we lost access! Bless him.
Congrats on the scans ladies - fabulous.
eca, I would definitely chase them up about yours my love.
Good luck Pesha for your scan.
So, everyone else ok? My dd has been a pain in the bum again this week. Soooo obnoxious. I ended up bursting in to tears when we got back from preschool this afternoon, as she really pushed me to the max. Feel exhausted by it all.
Anyway, enough waffle. See you all tomorrow loves.
xx

Greengirlforever · 21/11/2006 22:17

Actually - you know I said I don't mind most people stroking my bump? Make that except my FIL!! Urrgh - I couldn't think of anything worse (complete being very very sick emoticon).

Anyhow - I really came on here to cheer myself up after being in absolute floods after A Child at all Costs on BBC1. A really lovely couple (she had had cancer) had IVF with 2 frozen embryos, they both "took" and they had a boy and a girl, but tragically the girl died of an infection (they were very very premature). They dedicated the programme to the little girl and I'm welling up again just thinking about it.

Off for some distracting surfing. Good night to all.

doobydoo · 21/11/2006 22:24

Hurrah for the scans laydees
Twinkle my dp is from Carlisle.
Whereabouts is your dh from?
My spd is baaad today.I went shopping yesterday and pushed a trolley round and in the evening and today it really is painful.I shall speak to the midwife on the 8th when i go for my scan.I can't wait to find out it's flavour
Take care all.

weeonion · 21/11/2006 22:31

arghh eca- at me saying that about yr FIL and u telling yr dp......

CaptainDippy · 22/11/2006 00:18

I cried at that too, GGF - I couldn't believe they lost little Maddie!! Was so beautiful - so taking the wee boy home with so much happiness, tinged with so much sadness.

I also cry at my children SOL - How old is your little one again? (Sorry to ask, just can't keep track of everyone's little ones on here!!) My DD1 is nearly 3 is DRIVING ME CRAZY - I am just too hormonal and exhasuted to keep up with her and her whinging, tantruming ways atm.

Speaking of being exhausted ... what the heck am I doing here .......

Morning everyone, got a busy week at work this week so little mumsnet time but am popping in and trying to catch up when I can, very at all the scans.. 3 weeks yesterday til miiiiine..aargh! So it evens us out for those that haven´t felt movement but have had scans and vice versa
Hope you all have a fabulous day, x

Bugmum · 22/11/2006 09:09

Morning all
Another one here who was sobbing and sobbing after that programme; thank GOD it wasn't all bad news for that couple! My neighbour had a baby at 23 weeks and her little girl survived; she is now around 20 months and apparently doing well. She has some problems still but she is called a miracle baby. Dear little thing. There you go, more welling up.

So thus far it's just one blue bean, so far as we know? Ie, one of 1becomes3's is blue. I wonder what the stats will end up with? There's another thing that makes me cry: I read that in the West, excluding the Asian communities, girls are now far more wanted and valued, and many people don't want boys. So of course I cried for all the poor unwanted boys. We really need a crying emoticon on this thread.

Hope everyone has a lovely day

CaptainDippy · 22/11/2006 09:37

Awww, Bugmum, you've started me off again ..... I don't care whether I have a wee boy or a wee girl - they'll be v.much loved and wanted whatever. What blessed little Beans we all have, eh!!?

My scan is yonks away too Mav - 20/12 - just gotta be patient, enjoying all the little tiny movements I've been feeling though!

MIL has taken DD1 out for a little while and DD2 is asleep, so lots to do .....

Whoops, it is bubba who is my due date buddy, not you - got a bit confused with all the "B's"!! Sorry!

Blame it on the hormones.

OH NO .... GOODNESS ..... Bump is telling me to eat the rest of the choc pudding left over from last night - What should I do!!?

OP posts:
runnyhabbit · 22/11/2006 10:43

Morning all

cd - go forth and eat chocolate what bump wants, bump gets

I cried too at that programme. Not just at Maddy dying, but how positive the parents were.

x

CaptainDippy · 22/11/2006 11:01

Thank you for advocating my Bump's naughty actions, runny!

strong language alert!

the fucking boot on my fucking new car won't fucking open and its not fucking covered under the warranty because it is a fucking electrical fault - have been very nice to the man who sold it to me so far and hoping they will cover it - if not I am going to go fucking mad! sorry! and I have to go and collect my ebay glider chair this afternoon araaaarrgggghhhh! The man at the citroen specialist garage was very nice though and helpful - so hoping the dealer/garage will do a deal and get it sorted. DS2 kept me awake for hours last night and then moved back to his own bed at 4.20am - at which point spent the next 3 hours awake, worrying about my new car and what I was going to do and how much I loved my old car ... so with approx 3 hours sleep and a very stressed brain - there were tears this morning - also was bad tempered with boys - which now feel guilty about and have decided to give them the scooby doo slippers I have bought and hidden for christmas - when they get home after school - and say sorry and maybe some sweets too!

It has also made me remember what sleep deprivation is like and how I will need to instigate some coping mechanisms before april!

What also makes me mad is that people say crap things like 'well, if you weren't having another baby, none of this would have happened (i.e. the car boot) ARARRARRARAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH...

Rant over! Feel much better now.

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

eca · 22/11/2006 11:28

morning!

Hurrah! Scan date came in the post this morning! Fri 8th Dec. Doobydoo, we're scan buddies!

GGF and other teary ladies, I didn't even go near watching the BBC Child at all costs prog. Don't think the hormones could handle it. You are a braver lot than I!
