wow 33 of us on the stats thread. Interesting that all those that know are having pink beans. No blue ones at all yet....

Birth wise. I shall be having an elective c-section this time. Consultant would let me try a VBAC but i'm small (4ft 11) so may have trouble. Wouldn't like to go through labour and then need an emergency c-section. Anyway my experience of c-section with DS was really good, maybe because he was so small.

Wow!! I cant believe how big that list has got. I knew there were lots of us but didnt realise there were that many!! April is going to be a very busy month!

Bloody hell, when I start thinking of April I actually feel quite nervous. Birth in hospital for me due to problems last time with ds a few hours afterwards. Aarghh - contractions to cope with again. Dont know why I am worrying, I managed ok last time. Damn irrational hormones!

AngeG - the gold top I got from topshop is really nice - not too shiny or sparkly - could wear with jeans or nice trousers to dress up - has round neck and kind of short layered sleeves - cost £22. The gold and black stripey top in H&M was £14.99 but does need a black vest underneath - thats what I'm wearing for christmas!

My neighbour made me really cross tonight - made some inane comment about how we don't need a bigger car and should use the village school and walk etc etc - duh - about to have 3 children and don't all fit in, would never send my kids to our village school (long story) and funnily enough - like most people - I do actually need a car to get anywhere at all - rant over - stupid women - caught me unawares and shit shield not functioning! I couldn't even think of a decent response as I was so shocked - she has never expressed an opinion about anything ever before and is usually really nice - maybe she was joking, maybe my hormones are having a bad day!

1B3 - I have looked into the maternity 9 months and even though my due date is in April (12th) if the twins come in Feb or March I won't get it. Midwife says they won't let me go over 37 weeks which will be 22 March and I could be as early as 30 weeks which is 1 February

Scan is on wednesday 22 November - not sure if will find out sexes, we know they are non identical so could be one of each

I would love to have a home birth. Dh is gradually coming round to the idea too Although we're lucky because the hospital is 5/10 mins away. He's trying to play devils advocate with "what if..." so we're both going to talk to the mw nearer the time.

Hope you are all feeling well today - I had an unbelievable 3 nights out in a row (unheard of) and am paying for it now.......but hey, seeing the scissor sisters on saturday night made it all worth while. There's only so many ways you can have a fun night out when you're not drinking isn't there?
Good to here you are all indulging in a bit of retail therapy - and not just christmas shopping - I have just bought pram off of e-bay - so am mixed excited & nervous - what have I done? second hand for the third kid is inevitable, but this is from someone I don't know.......just can't justify new expensive pram again iykwim - translates to mean dh won't let me go mad! It should be here tomorrow or wed so will let you know if it was a huge mistake (it may go straight back on e-bay...)
anyway, scan tomorrow am - keep your fingers crossed all is well please!
some advice please - do I need a new mattress for the cot? as a whole it is now almost 6 years old, but has never been out of our sight/used by anyone else but our 2 kids. I don't know if I'm giving in to the scaremongering by considering buying a new one when the one I have is in vgc, and clean. I have looked on sids website, and there's no mention on replacing cot mattress after a certain time, but what do you guys think?

Oooggs - I thought that it didn't matter when the babies are actually born, its what is agreed as your due date, and put on your MATB1 form. I've seen on some threads that some very kind mw have actually "amended" due dates, so women can qualify for the extra time off.

I think SOL is our HR queen, so she might be able to help.

Harimad - I won´t be getting a doula this time, as it´s our first we´ll see if dh and i can muddle through alone but I have heard so many good things about them. If I have a home birth I may, or may NOT, depending on how she behaves have my mum around.
But realistically it will be a hospital birth and they only let one person in, which will have to be dh. I don´t think I would be able to get them to understand what a doula is!!
Although I would like a home birth I understand dh´s fears and think that if I end up going with hospital this time and all goes well it will strengthen my case for doing it my way next time

Hello - I can't keep up! Just can't!!!! Anyway it is a great read and (this will show how long it has taken me to get up todate) thanks for the great post cornflake kid re nappies. I have printed it out and trying to make some sense of it, I think it will take the next 20 weeks to get to grips with it all but you have helped so much. Also Bugmum - great breastfeeding post - been lucky with my other two and been able to feed for 12 months plus but it has been a struggle and painful process - your ideas were great - thanks.

Just came on tv so thought I would share..

there´s a really cute thing they do on tv here at 8pm. On all the channels at 8pm whatever the programme there is a little break. Theres a popular kids show here, like the teletubbies or something, what is the slightly older version of that but also muppet like creatures??
ANYWAY. There´s a set 2 minute ´show´ where the muppets go to bed and their Dad ? reads them a story and they say ´it´s so nice that you read to us before we go to bed Papa´ and then they all sing a song basically saying ´goodnight kids, it´s bed time, sleep well´ and closes with two real little girls in bed waving goodnight.
I think it´s such a great idea to help parents say to kids, nope that´s it, time to go.. just thought I would share

Evening all. Can't believe how many posts there are to catch up on over the weekend!!! Computer on the blink at home so have to catch up at work - still here actually and DS in bed thanks to DH so am trying to get loads done which will hopefully mean no more late nights this week!

I know am a bit behind, but just wanted to say in relation to the Farepak business I actually work in the insolvency business and it has taught me NEVER EVER to pay in advance or give desposits for anything if at all possible and if not then to always use a credit card. Very unfairly its always the "man on the street" who gets stung...

Anyway - on the grobag topic, love them. DS has been in 1 since about 16 weeks and has been so easy. Getting into his bag is now a real sleep trigger too.

I am planning on a homebirth this time - have had two not so good hospital births and just want to be in control this time and feel that I will feel a lot calmer in my own home, iykwim!!? DH has been talked round so it's all go for finding out about different birthing pools etc - having been robbed of a water birth twice now!!

Hello,

I'm new. Can i join in? My baby is due on the 19th of April.

Had my anomoly scan today and all looks normal so am much relieved. I said i didn't want to know the sex, but now wish i had found out!

It's my first baby. Had a rocky start, and have been quite anxious as a result - midwife thinks i'm bonkers and laughs that she will see me every three days at the drop in. Also wasn't at all planned. I was supposed to be 30, living in the countryside and supposed to have finished my doctorate, but there you go, it seems this is a common story!

Am unbelievably happy about it and betwen pangs of anxiety seem to spend most of my time smiling, feeling v. content and singing made up songs to my little round bump.

So this is me!
