For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

I'm wondering the same princess most of my maternity clothes are summer as I was pregnant with DS last summer and the autumn was pretty warm too. It's getting cold now so I think I'm going to have to get some more bits, but I don't want to spend money for a few months wear but guess I'll have to.
Most stuff is online and I like trying things on too!

thprincesswhohadnokingdom · 29/08/2015 20:29

EXACTLY, Abbey! What I have seen so far seems so overpriced and not very nice looking... I wondered in and out of the maternity section in H&M as I thought "I can pick up something cheap 'n cheerful here to keep me going" but ended up going "oh no... no... no...I can't do this!" and walking out with teenage-like anxiety. I noticed Zara have lots of 70s inspired dresses and tops in their normal clothes and as they are very free fitting I am wondering if I could buy a few in a bigger size than normal and live in them but will need to get some maternity jeans from somewhere....

annatha · 29/08/2015 21:57

Its hard because you don't want to waste money on clothes that will only be used for a couple of months, but at the same time PJs in public isn't an option. Last time I bought 1 pair of maternity jeans and was struggling to get them washes and dried all the time, and was wearing them for a good while after the birth too. I've been living in loose skater dresses and maternity leggings all summer but have a couple of pairs of jeans for when the weather turns. Top wise you can always chuck a long vest top underneath normal jumpers and such instead of buying maternity ones, and if you buy feeding vests (I love mothercare ones, have about 5 black ones and have worn them all year even though I stopped bf in feb) they'll be handy for bf too.

annatha · 29/08/2015 22:00

Sorry that post makes little sense haha! Basically I'd buy a couple of pairs of maternity jeans (over the bump as they keep you warm in winter and hold in post birth bellies nicely!), some long feeding vests and some thick cardigans that you can wear open over the bump and then fasten when you've given birth.

Topsy34 · 30/08/2015 08:56

Hey ladies, good to read everyone's progress.

I got a lot of maternity clothes on ebay and facebook selling groups, just put up a post saying 'looking for....' And list what you are after. I got 2 pairs of maternity work trousers free, and 2 swimming costumes for £5 on the selling groups, and a pair of mamas and papas jeans for £3 +postage on ebay. Otherwise got a few bits in h&m, if you have a select shop near you their leggings are great, 2 pairs for £8 and they stretch up over your bump in a asize bigger

Had a bit of a panic last night, i hadnt felt any movements all evening so went in for monitoring at 11pm, as soon as i got there i got kicks, but the mw still put me on the ctg and everything was fine, she said its possible it was just not moving becuase i had been moving about all day at work and been busy. She was lovely and said she would much rather women go in and be checked than not go. So i just want to share a great charity, who have good info about fetal movement - Count the Kicks

thprincesswhohadnokingdom · 30/08/2015 11:35

Oh Topsy - that must have been really very frightening! I am so glad that all is ok now and I am more than a bit in love with your midwife. She sounds FAB! I read online that around now our babies are sleeping 90percent of the time - so when I haven't felt bubsta for a few seconds, minutes hours and panic I quote this to myself to calm myself down a bit but it was great that you went in to get checked over and I am so glad you got such a good reception and care!

Annatha - Thank you so so much for the clothing pep talk! Your first post made perfect sense and really helped me put things into perspective.

Actually (might be interesting for Abbey too) - re clothes - I have discovered this site www.vertbaudet.fr/future-maman/vetements-de-grossesse.htm. I think the clothes are not too dear, the designs generally look really practical, flattering to a bumpalicious (coughs) and post bumpalicious (coughs some more) bod and with a birthday coming up my Mum and DP have decided to chip together to organise a capsule "birth and beyond" wardrobe for me! : ) YAY! (already feeling less like a potato with legs).

annatha · 30/08/2015 13:52

Glad everything's ok Topsy. Count the Kicks are brilliant and I'm so glad that they're so well known these days. I had a scare at 40+1 last time and if it wasn't for all the stuff I'd read I probably wouldn't have gone in for monitoring for fear of wasting the midwives time, but mine was lovely too and glad I'd come to get checked (I ended up having dd the next night and she came to see me after the birth which was lovely).

princess I'm liking the idea of a capsule wardrobe pressie! I'm down to 3 pairs of leggings and 4 dresses that fit at the minute but I'm trying to hold out as long as I can so I can get some nice stuff for after the birth. I've already prepped dh on what I'll need to buy and how little fits right now so he won't have a shock when my post birth goodies arrive.

Topsy34 · 31/08/2015 21:50

Its great CTK are more in the public eye now, I do recycling to raise funds for them, and I very nearly didnt go in, but knowing ctk, meant i couldnt just wait and see. She was genuinely kind, and it was a good experience as when i pg with ds, i had a not so good experience when being monitored.

Its about not getting movement where you normally would, so say you get a good bout of movement at 8am each day and then one morning you dont, and you try a few things to get movement, but dont, thats when you need to be checked. I always get movement between 9 and 10pm, when i get in bed, but saturday night i didnt, tried icy water, ice on my belly, laying on my left.

On a note that would make you laugh, i had a bath when i got home from work and ds got in with me, he lays his head on my belly and gets a boot right in the ear from baby, he sits up and points his finger at my belly and says 'listen here baby, i am the big brother, no telling me what to do!'

thprincesswhohadnokingdom · 01/09/2015 11:16

HAHA!!!! Brilliant and classic one liner from your DS, Topsy! Grin

I remember listening to my sister inside my mum using a glass. So I have been letting dd do that... She loves science and quite likes the idea of working in medicine when she is grown up... The way she insists that I laydown then carefully listens gives me goosebumps. She uses the glass with such gentle, caring confidence and has an almost profeessional seriousness that it makes me feel oddly reassured afterwards as if I had really just been checked over by a real midwife! Sigh... Smile

TakesTwoToTango · 04/09/2015 03:17

Hello all. This had dropped off my active list so I thought I'd bump it again. How is everyone doing?

Princes and topsey - loving the images of the big siblings :) so cute!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 04/09/2015 10:53

Hello all. All OK here. I got my blood results back, not great but not awful either, so blood tests every two weeks and we watch and wait. But I don't have to deliver yet so fingers crossed for a term baby this time. I'm not going to lie though, having googled the condition the baby might have (HDFN) I'm pretty worried.
I've got a friend moaning about her anti D jabs, which is fair enough. But I want to say at least there's a cure for your one (but obviously I can't!) No cure for anti c

SnozzberryPie · 04/09/2015 12:45

That sounds like a worry abbey, hope you're ok. What are the consequences of anti c?

I am ok, starting to feel a bit fat and tired but nothing too serious. I have a midwife appointment next week to go through my birth notes from last time, I am worried it could be quite emotional.

DD has been given a Drs set by granny and likes listening to the baby with her toy stethoscope, and feeding him pretend food through my belly button. She knows his favourite will be milk, but still tries to give him the odd breadstick or raisin Confused

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 04/09/2015 12:59

Snozzberry that sounds so cute your DD listening in. You might have a little helper there Smile
Hardly anyone, including medical people have heard of it, but it's pretty much like anti D (where the mother is rhesus negative and baby is positive). My body might think the baby is a foreign body that needs to be attacked, assuming the baby is positive on the c. I'm seeing the consultant soon but from chatting to the screening midwife it's usually a case of a jaundiced and anaemic newborn. In really bad cases it's a lot more serious and can mean a blood transfusion in utero or when born.
My level is mild at the moment but has been rising. There's some number that if it gets to then they deliver early as it's a balance of baby being better off out than in.
I'm OK for another 2 weeks though (when the next results come back) which takes me to 34/35 weeks. I see the consultant next week. It might be the case that they want to go on the side of caution and deliver at 37/38 possibly anyway.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 04/09/2015 13:01

Snozzberry I hope it goes well with the notes from last time too

Topsy34 · 04/09/2015 21:07

snozzberry thats so cute! I can just imagine a raisin being poked in, not to been seen again for a while!

abbey that sounds worrying, especially when there are questions they wont know the answers to until the baby arrives

princess that is so adorable!

Ds is 6, and he is so sweet and caring, he likes to rub my belly, he calls it bumpaging, like rummaging but for bump rubbing!! :/

ChicBabyP · 07/09/2015 11:03

Hello ladies.
Haven't posted here in a while as it's been very quiet since everyone is on facebook (i'm not). I hope you are all doing well. This is the last stretch, we're almost there!!

Or at least that's how i feel as i've got a maximum of 6.5weeks leftShock! Before my planned section. I am huge and that is not an understatement. I've had people making jokes about whether i'm having twins or triplets and i just laugh as we haven't told anyone that we're having twins.

Finding it more and more difficult to walk or stand for any length of time. Also a little worried as haven't put on any weight in last few weeks but seeing consultant this week so we'll see what's going on. At our last appointment both babies were measuring and weighing perfectly on track so i hope they are still doing well despite me not seeing any weight gain.

Dd is so excited and keeps talking to my belly but she also doesn't know it's 2, although she did make a comment about it a few days ago so i'm wondering if she's picked up on our conversations, she 's quite clever (for a 3 yr old)!

Hope you're all doing well and managing a little better than me.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 07/09/2015 11:51

Same here Chic I think I'll be having a section in 7 weeks (at 39) or sooner depending on my bloods. See the consultant on Thursday but they can't induce me (previous CS scar) so if they need the baby out I guess I'll be getting a date this week. Time has really flown!
Hope all is well with the babies

Unthoughtknown · 07/09/2015 16:39

Wow Chic, 6.5 weeks is not long at all! Do you know what you're having? (Apart from twins obv).

Unthoughtknown · 07/09/2015 16:41

Ps I reckon there's going to be a June 16 thread soon, scary how quick it's going!

TakesTwoToTango · 08/09/2015 20:02

Hi all!

Abbey, glad the levels are still riding slowly, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Chic, I'm not on fb either. It's a shame it's got so quiet around here! Wow, that you are managing to keep twins secret! I feel large so I can only guess how big you must feel.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 08/09/2015 21:41

I'm on the Facebook but I like it on here too, I'm a bit of a mn addict Smile

I had a letter through and I have anti E and anti K as well. I seem to be collecting blood letters like its countdown! Anyway, same management, check the blood levels etc

I hope everyone is doing well. I've been super tired as DS is now properly on the move and into everything just as I get big and slow

Unthoughtknown · 09/09/2015 18:55

Bloody knackered today, and consuming waaaay too much sugar. Must do better!

ChicBabyP · 10/09/2015 22:18

Sorry to hear about all your blood issues Abbey. Is it a case of as long as it's managed and monitored, you'll be able to hold out till the end? Sorry my knowledge of all these blood issues is nonexistent.
And yes to having a toddler running around to look after whilst we are expanding and getting more tired by the minute...
I'm absolutely knackered!!

unthought, we know what we're having but we're team yellow in here. Been quite difficult buying stuff as i'm trying to buy neutral just in case some family member pokes their noses in the drawers in nursery. But i have given in and bought some colours too as i really got depressed by the neutral stuff, so boring....

Takestwo, it is a shame that this thread has died down a bit. I remember with my previous pregancy same thing happen, everyone went on to facebook and suddenly i felt there was barely anyone to talk to anymore...

Seen the consultant, weight gain not an issue according to him, babies are good weights and growing well, both breeched which explain the pain under my ribs from 2 heads fighting for space! I'm exhausted all the time now but i have to hang on for a bit longer. Consultant said ideally should get to 34 weeks because statistically by then you don't need NICU anymore so much better for the babies. That's in 3 wks from now!!!Shock

ChicBabyP · 10/09/2015 22:20

Oh and i haven't packed my hospital bag yet!!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/09/2015 10:08

Yes Chic that's pretty much it. It's the same as anti-D but a different antibodies. Anti D has injections that control it (which everyone seems to moan about but they are so lucky to have them) but there's no cure for the ones I have. So they just test my blood and observe the level. A case of watch and wait it seems.

Saw the consultant yesterday, it was a total waste of time. She didn't want to step on the other consultants toes so I'm going back next week to see him. Got to go back next week but have no childcare as DH has to come because his blood has been tested too and I think only he can get his results.
Also turns out no one had requested my notes from my last hospital yet. So time's running out there. They think I got this as a reaction to the blood transfusions I had at DS's birth so they need those notes. All so bloody stressful.

I had this last time with placenta praevia. Although it was a different condition, same thing. Loads of consultants not making any decisions until a last minute panic.
I know pregnancy and birth are unpredictable but I'd like some sort of idea on what's going to happen. It's a rare condition so hard to get information out of books, internet etc.

Sorry for the rant I'm just quite confused and anxious right now. And can't believe I have another out of the blue complication when I've done everything right, if that makes sense?
